Dominik Loves Bucs’ Suh Signing

June 1st, 2019

Ex-Bucs GM Mark Dominik weighs in, along with another former Buccaneer.

A little over nine years ago, former Bucs rockstar general manager Mark Dominik was knee-deep in study on Ndamukong Suh and Gerald McCoy.

The Bucs owned the No. 3 overall pick in the 2010 NFL Draft and Suh and McCoy were under consideration as QB Sam Bradford was going No. 1 overall to the Rams.

While co-hosting on SiriusXM NFL Radio yesterday, Dominik said he is a huge fan of Suh and has been for many years, and Dominik loved the signing for the Buccaneers. The ex-GM voiced no concerns for Suh or for how he’ll perform in Tampa.

No, Dominik isn’t anti-McCoy.

The way Dominik’s voice sounded while talking about Suh, it sure seemed like Dominik preferred Suh over McCoy in that draft. That’s just Joe’s opinion based on many, many years of listening to Dominik talking Bucs.

Another ex-Buc weighing in on the Suh-McCoy swap on NFL Radio was Bruce Gradkowski. He prefers McCoy over Suh with the caveat “if McCoy stays healthy.” Gradkowski considers both “immediate impact players,” and he expects a “fresh-start” jolt from Suh and McCoy to their new teams, even though Suh started slowly with the Rams last season.

Mark Dominick made the wrong choice. History proves it.

  2. FowlBall Says:

WTH do we care what Domenik thinks? Terrible football man, but all of a sudden he got smart?

  3. Don_RyJo(e) Says:

    @tmaxcon

He didn’t have the choice of taking Suh…Suh was taken 2nd and we had the 3rd pick.

  4. Jean Lafitte Says:

Makes me question whether McCoy was head coach Raheem Morris’s pick instead of Dominik?

  5. MadMax Says:

tmax, you’re talking about who? Who shouldve been the choice? If you mean Suh, then youre more of an abysmal idiot than i thought….

anyways…i love this! But I remember Dom saying “we wanted Mccoy the whole time, that was our pick”, or something to that effect…i remember it well!!!

Guess he was trying to save face and look “all in” on the draftee….unlike what Licht has done….Vea! We got our guy!! D. White! We got our guy!!! Licht would probably turn down a beer from Dom if they ran into each other at a bar….as it should be!

  6. Allbuccedup Says:

Who the f___k cares what Dominik thinks, if he thinks its a good choice then its probably a bad one.

  7. MadMax Says:

    uh oh, moderation surprise lol

  8. Jameis Almighty! Says:

Mark Dominick is partly responsible for the Bucs failure. He needs to shut up. Now I’m second guessing the Suh signing.

  9. Ed Kerber Says:

Domenick did not pick wrongly. Suh was off the board and nobody was trading spots 1 or 2 for cheap

  10. geno711 Says:

    @Jean Lafitte Says:

Suh was picked by Detroit one ahead of us. Dominik did not have a choice between the two.

  11. UnderMeBucin’Hat Says:

Dominick would have taken Suh in that draft but he was gone. I wanted him too. Funny how things come full circle.

  12. BigBucKy13 Says:

Considering that Suh was already drafted before the Bucs were on the clock I don’t think he had much of a decision to make..

  13. MadMax Says:

oh, delete my posts….fine, hope to meet you in tampa sometime

  14. MadMax Says:

oh, there they are….jit, sorry man

  15. Jean Lafitte Says:

I know McCoy was picked after Suh ..smh

I was referring to Dominiks statement about Suh. I was just wondering out loud if McCoy might’ve been Rah’s pick considering what Dominik said. jeesh

  16. MadMax Says:

@Jean, most of these responses are to tmax’s statement lol

  17. SCBucsFan Says:

TPax, too bad there is no edit button proving once again what an idiot you are. How could we have taken a player with the third pick that was already picked? On a bright note you make a great sandwich. Thanks for putting extra cheese on my tuna.

  18. DB55 Says:

Bruce Gradkowski Probably the most underrated Bucs QB ever. If nothing else homie had heart and gumption

  19. Jameis Almighty! Says:

Tampax is a bumbling bafoon. Feel free to tee off on him mad max. Better entertainment than a Mark Dominik radio show

  20. Jonathan Limpchimpi Says:

A decade of dunces in Dominik and now Licht Weight…I can’t imagine why many of us fans are disillusioned if not plain angry.

  21. Mort Says:

Pewter report has confirmed many times that Dominick and Raheem wanted Suh over McCoy. Even two podcasts ago from them. That part is old news.

  22. Bingo Says:

Classic @ Jameis Almighty…classic. Someone trying to call someone else a BUFFOON, and having the sense and sensibility to spell it “bafoon”. Can’t make this ISHH up.

    Tards…all around. Out here.

  23. SmoothCriminal Says:

Suh will be just what we need in 2019, possibly another 1 year re-up in 2020 if all goes as planned.

Can’t wait as other teams start cutting when getting in and through training camp. We need some gems to mix and match. Still plenty to do on this roster.

LeSean McCoy could very likely be a cap casualty in training camp with all Buffalo has at RB now. At a reduced rate after cuts, gotta be better option than ROJO or Barber for at least 2019. No matter what pointless noise you hyenas retort with.

  24. crazy Says:

This way Bucs will have had both. That ought to settle it.

  25. Eric Says:

I can’t believe the Suh/McCoy draft was that many years ago.

Seems like yesterday we are having discussions about who the bucs should pic.

And not a single dang playoff appearance for us since then. Depressing as heck.

But Domink’s endorsement should warm the cockles of Joe’s heart. No one has been more embarrassingly revered on here than the rock star.

  26. NOSBOS Says:

So hold up,and please don’t judge me I don’t look into everything. But it’s just been brought to my attention Devin White is an Aquarius born February 17th. Now I get my attraction to this young man. Laid back, humble but at the same time know he raw as H3ll. Yea😁 I know this dude.

  27. Tampabaybucfan Says:

One of the few things Buc fans agree on is that Mark Dominick absolutely su##ed.

  28. SC Bucs Fan Says:

Funny the boards biggest troll has gone be back under his rock.

I hope we get JPP not Baker with this signing but both options are on the table. The key will be if we arenbwinning will he lose motivation.

  29. Erik Hesson - Fine Artist - City of St Pete (formerly known as 'The Kwon Alexander of Bucs Fans') ***Rhealist, louden annoying, & tminimum are the worst posters ever!!! Says:

    Tminimum,

Everyone in Buc Nation would’ve rather had Suh in that draft, but he was picked before we drafted McCoy as a consolation prize…

You, Sir, are not very intelligent.

  30. Erik Hesson - Fine Artist - City of St Pete (formerly known as 'The Kwon Alexander of Bucs Fans') ***Rhealist, louden annoying, & tminimum are the worst posters ever!!! Says:

    Nos,

I am also an Aquarius, born Feb 8th.

Aquarians are awesone, it is what it is…

  31. Swamp buc Says:

    Tmax

Is your memory really that bad?

Sometimes you are just so obviously wrong that I’m surprised you even bother posting it here.

  32. BucEmUp Says:

He didnt have a choice….Suh was picked before the bucs had a chance at him.

    That explains alot!

  33. Buc believer Says:

OH NO!! Anyone Dominek the biggest joke in general manager history besides the current idiot taking the GM office at one Buc likes Suh!! We are doomed!! (For those that don’t know and I’m sure there are many that’s called sarcasm)

  34. unbelievable Says:

Lol ToddlerMax doesn’t even know we didn’t have a choice since we picked at 3 and the lions picked at 2.

    Shocking.

  35. NOSBOS Says:

That’s a Big fat 10/4 Erik. Gotta be one to understand where we coming from bro.

  36. JimmyJack Says:

I like anbody that likes Suh. Kong Suh is my kinda football player. Hard nosed and violent is how he plays & those qualities can win you football games. It’s also why I like P.Barber and like what Bruce is building.

But I’m striking Mark Dominik from the record. He had a chance to build this team and there was noting hard or violent about it. We were soft as a babies ass under Dominick and still are as a matter of fact.

I believe Bruce is the man to rid us of this P*** soft attitude. He is old school like me and that’s something that’s been missing from this organization. I’ve been begging for physical professional football in Tampa for decades and I think we got a guy now who understands that.

I don’t know when it will happen but I freaking want that first 3rd and 1 and I want it bad. I will be there and will save all my voice box for that moment……..Bruce, please for the love of God get me that yard……or stop it!!!!! My team has been getting walked all over for almost a quarter century now.

Let the Bucs get good first then we can be great!

    GO BUCS!!!!

  37. Jean Lafitte Says:

Schiano tried to change the culture but the media resisted. They painted him as some tyrant who abused his players that didn’t respond to his hardnose approach. Maybe looking back Schiano had it right and we had to many soft players. …and now, low and behold, another old school of hard knocks. Why do I feel we’ve wasted so much time between Schiano’s firing to BA’s hiring? Hopefully the media will grow some nuggets and let BA run things.

  38. neal Says:

lol. Tmax once again proves that she is dumber than a bag of hammers.

  39. Steven007 Says:

Someone said it in a previous post but it’s too good not to use again, but trollmax is simply a special kind of stupid.

  40. chopshopp Says:

    @DB55,

Gradkowski was hot garbage. Gumption? Cuz that wins games these days apparently.

  41. RODNEY ALLEN Says:

D@mn tmax being a couple others told u I guess I dont have to tell u lmmfao 🤷‍♂️

  42. adam from ny Says:

    y’all gotta realize…his name is:

    KONG SUH

    #Recognize !!

  43. Hodad Says:

Last couple of weeks Dom said we were keeping McCoy, what does he know? In defense of tmax, you know Dom would’ve made the wrong choice if he had to pick from the two.

  44. Chris@Apple Roof Cleaning Tampa Says:

Coach Schiano flat outed McCoy’s propensity for injuries, when he was here.
Coach Schiano saw right away that McCoy tackled with his arms, w/o support from his body, far too often, causing injury.
You can get away with that kind of tackling in high school, maybe even in college.
But in the Pro’s, where even some back up running backs are squatting 575 lbs for reps, no way.

  45. SOEbuc Says:

    Joe

Still have no clue why you write so many articles of what Mark Dominik thinks. Guy is a joke and a half as a GM. Reach for the bottle when he gives props to a Bucs player.
