Update On JPP, GMC

May 8th, 2019

New information on JPP, GMC.

There are tons of moving parts with the Bucs in these early-May days and the two biggest parts have nothing to do with rookie minicamp which gets underway Friday:

Those are where defensive end Jason Pierre-Paul stands with his alleged fractured neck and what the hell is going on with the drama surrounding in-limbo stud defensive tackle Gerald McCoy.

Earlier this afternoon, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network had an update on JPP and how this JPP issue splashes over onto the status of GMC.

    Yawning

    ………………….this says absolutely nothing Joe

  2. 99.97.92.55.47.40.28.20.7 Says:

    JPP, get healthy.
He has played his last game with Bucs
GMC is going to suit up for us at his $13mm. This is a GOOD thing. Any time you have a HOF talent strapping up for you, you take it.

  3. Joe Says:

    this says absolutely nothing Joe

You heard the timetable on JPP’s second opinion… where?

So you heard the information on GMC… where?

  4. Dreghost Says:

At this point who cares? I mean as a true fan do we really feel like we are Super Bowl contenders? And if not then screw it cut both of them and start from scratch…oh wait, we have the great Peyton Barber to lead us into the playoffs…i guess this is what B.A. means when he say “no risk it no biscuit”! #itshardbeingabucsfan

  5. Architek79 Says:

    “Stud” DT???

  6. The Graham Tram Says:

Thanks Joe- I’ve been waiting to hear a reputable source reaffirm the teams’s financial options

  7. Tampabaybucfan Says:

I appreciate the info….but we really didn’t learn much that we don’t already know…..
Waiting on 2nd opinion….and waiting on possible restructure on GMC….

Waiting on Beckwith with “fingers crossed”

Waiting on Spence to produce etc, etc, etc.

  8. Lord Cornelius Says:

Seems like Bucs have no choice really in what to do in this situation:

-get out of JPP contract via injury clause
-use $$ for rookie pool and to keep ice cream man for at least 1 more year

Sorry folks. I was ready for the culture change too.

    3-4 look

    OLB-Shaq Barret / Noah Spence
LDE-Will Gholston / Anthony Nelson (and sooner than later probably Nelson)
    NT-Vita Vea / Beau Allen
    RDE-Gerald McCoy / ? – Lambert or Nunes Roaches
    OLB-Carl Nassib / ?

nickle / 4 down lineman look

    DE-Nassib / ?
    DT-Vea / Allen
    DT-McCoy / ?
    DE-Barret/Spence/Nelson / ?

Will likely be blitzing a lot in nickle because that front 4 doesn’t scare anyone.

Also good teams wouldn’t have that many “?” for the depth behind the starting rotation.

  9. Anonymous Says:

    Boy, Joe..what a mess.
Wasn’t it here I’d read we can save 7.5 M cutting JPP?
I’d hate to do that prematurely, but if this year is a no-go…
I was thinking we should cut Beau Allen anyway.

For the last decade all.I can remember every single offseason is all.of the fans finding a new sense of optimismn and belief that this team.will turn.it around and win a lot of games, and every season it turns into crap.

Im very excited to.see.what happens.when all.of the fans are pissed and just landed the best head coach since dungy and gruden and think the sky is falling

Look, I think Bruce Arians is great. The thing is, we’re expecting him to make chicken salad out of chicken$hit.

This roster is the least talented roster in the division. The worst QB in the division, the worst RB group in the divisions, the worst secondary in the division, the worst overall defense in the division, and very likely the worst o-line in the division (Atlanta got stronger in the draft).

  13. Mike Johnson Says:

I could care less. Bruce Arians took this job with a lot of fanfare saying what he could do. batter up sir. I’m waiting….Get her done. No Excuses. Use your GM. Make a deal with another team. Get us a pass rush. You took the job. Now perform. I don’t care if you gotta find Jim Garbage man off the streets. Make it happen.

  14. Eric y Says:

GMC news is boring …. who cares…. hope a full recovery on JPP though … GMC … hope he’s out of Tampa soon

agree MJ…and it might be chuck’n both McCoy and JPP and use the cap $$$$

  16. miken Says:

All these people that saying the roster doesn’t have talent?? I thought we just fired a coach because we had so much talent and the coach couldn’t develope????
D looked average last month and ahalf plus we have plenty of weapons on O.

  17. LakeLand Says:

The best thing the Bucs can do:

Watch a lot of college football this season
Get ready for the 2020 NFL draft
Make the best of your Top-5 pick

  18. Todd Says:

    Slow news day, eh?

  19. AKickInTheBucNuts Says:

The apathy weighs heavy, and why not, decades of bumbling losing will do that.

  20. Dan McLaughlin Says:

Great news on McCoy. I hate when the media blows up a bunch of nonsense. We’re naturally keeping McCoy. He is surely one of our best players. Maybe our best. JPP is staying too. Like he said. Nobody is ruling him out to start the season or be back early. Super Bowl this year! GO BUCS!

  21. Jackwagon Says:

Just like @TheBucsAnthem and @Todd have both said….

This says NOTHING. We were told there was an “update” here. There’s not. The hack-oport revealed nothing, and guessed at obvious crap, like he so often does. Guessing, and/or speculating, and/or surmising…..is NOT reporting. Fool never breaks anything anyway.

    Slow news day.

  22. Louis Friend Says:

That statement from Rapoport should be obvious to anyone who follows the Bucs and has half a brain. However, in light of many who read this blog site I suppose it had to be emphasized.

  23. Lord Cornelius Says:

“Im very excited to.see.what happens.when all.of the fans are pissed and just landed the best head coach since dungy and gruden and think the sky is falling”

I’m quietly hoping all this negativity is a weird sign of a good season coming as well lol

  24. PriMech54 Says:

This community of fans are the most neurotic, fairy-minded nancy’s I’ve ever seen in my life.

Most have gone from praising JPP as the sack master savior and lone bright spot on defense, to hurling insults about his intelligence and demanding he be CUT (and speculating that he never takes another snap again in the NFL LOLOL) in literally the matter of one day because he got in a pretty minor car wreck. And it doesn’t stop there, they use it as a medium to take it further down that rabbit hole where Bruce Arians is a moron destined to fail, Licht can’t wipe his a$s and Dirk just didn’t have enough talent on this football team. Schemes don’t matter, putting players in positions of strength for them isn’t a thing, coaching doesn’t matter, philosophies are bunk, and coaching the next man up can never happen. All that matters is the mystical voodoo spell that Gerald McCoy has secretly cast over the franchise where if he exists on the roster somehow every man in the locker room is a complete loser and the Bucs will never field a competitive football team, even with a legit NFL caliber coaching staff (the first of which that has been in the building since Dungy and Kiffin/Gruden and Kiffin). Isn’t that right, guys?

ridiculous… you know how people end up believing such fantastical bullspit? when they have zero working knowledge on player contracts, schemes/X’s and O’s, football philosophy and have been subjected to a complete DEARTH of legitimate NFL coaching in well over a decade. It all results in the sky is falling mentality. So weak. As I stated in a previous post, there are guys on the roster that Todd Bowles can put in a position to get after it and hold down the fort until JPP inevitably comes back from his surgery that might not even be required.

  25. NPRSageBoy Says:

To all Buc fans so inclined: beat the under on total wins and get your paper bags ready.

  26. Defense Rules Says:

BucEmUp … Agree with your assessment that BA is the best coach we’ve hired since Tony Dungy & Jon Gruden. It’s continually struck me as amusing this past decade that BOTH of them were fired by the Glazers after posting winning 9-7 records the season they were let go. BA will surely get a honeymoon year, but after that he’d need to do better than 9-7 or I’m sure the Glazer Boyz would can him … but retain Jason to lead the search for the next great coach to lead us to new horizons.

D-Rome & Lord C … Hard to be optimistic after all the losing years as a Bucs’ fan, but I’ve learned over the years to EXPECT THE UNEXPECTED when it comes to this team. That’s actually pretty easy to do this year since we’ve got a new coaching staff & so many new players. Especially on defense & S/Ts, our 2 weakest links for these past several years. No idea what our record will be this year (my ‘guess’ is someplace between 4-12 and 8-8) but I am looking forward to seeing this team play faster & more physical. HOPEFULLY we make enough plays on both sides of the ball to set a solid foundation for coming years.

  27. SCBucsFan Says:

The update is there is no new news. Stop back later for another update.

  28. Clw JB Says:

Hope the O can find some balance and produce 30 points a game, the D is a year away it appears…

Mulligan for BA and Co already??

  29. Cobraboy Says:

    Jesus H. Cripes!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

There has not been ONE practice in pads, much less any indication whatsoever the roster is set in stone, and a bunch of lame casual fans are ready to jump off the Skyway.

WTF is wrong with you people?

  30. Bob in Valrico Says:

I am not sure if second opinions matter on JPP. Ultimately the Bucs medical staff should decide on JPP”s health and possible risk of further injury.

  31. Old School Athlete Says:

PriMech. Great post. I couldn’t have said it better.

  32. TOM Says:

I’m going with the wait & see attitude.
