May 22nd, 2019

Grateful.

Former Bucs stud defensive tackle Gerald McCoy has a message for all of Tampa Bay.

Two days after it was learned GMC would not be back with the Bucs in 2019, GMC took to Instagram to leave a heartfelt message to the Tampa Bay region. He also made a pledge.

Classy move by a great buccaneer

    I salute u 9trey

  2. DooshLaRue Says:

    About 4 people care Softie.

    Now go away.

  3. Wng Says:

Classy and awesome role model! Just wished he had better years here with the team and he hadn’t wasted his best years with the horrible years this team has had. Good luck to the man and wish him success elsewhere.

  4. AlteredEgo Says: Your comment is awaiting moderation. Says:

LOL…is the PR pimping for a place in the RoH….?no burning bridges here…
All that said….IMO NO way has McCoy distinguished himself as a RoH Buccaneer…he did what he was supposed to do at a very good level…do you folks know how many years went by before there was a RoH ?…now everyone that was good in your recent memories belong up there…..you folks don’t know what you don’t know about GREAT Buccaneers !
James Wilder …Kevin House and others….hell Lawrence Dawsey was one of the toughest WR FOOTBALL players ever to put on a Buc jersey…cut short with a knee injury….the RoH should be for very very special players

  5. Bruce Blahak Says:

Bye Bye Batman…go play in the sandbox. Batman Wood is the only “batman” Buccaneer I will remember…

  6. Unimpressed Says:

Good luck with your next squad Gerald!

  7. Tampabaybucfan Says:

I believe it was the right thing to move on especially considering the $13mil price……
We can debate all day long about how great/good/not good GMC is/was…..but he was a great representative of this organization in the Tampa community….and it appears he feels a strong attachment to the Bucs and has no hard feelings.

  8. Durango 95 Says:

Couldn’t be bothered to watch beyond the Batman intro.. Load of childish bullspit. Can we please move-on from this hambone. Had enough of his silly crap to last a lifetime.

  9. Bucsdelight Says:

So he’ll go play with the Saints this year and then be back next?

  10. Buddy Says:

This guy was and is nothing but classy when it comes to his life away from the disaster that is ONE BUC JOKE. I can’t wait for him to sign with a team and they make the playoffs he deserves it.

  11. SenileSenior Says:

GMC remains a class human being!
    ___________
Thank you for all you have done here in Tampa Bay, Mr. Gerald McCoy!

Your most noisy detractors are classless. In their heart of hearts they know who they are. Enough said!
    ______________
    Go Bucs!!!

  12. Oneyed buc Says:

Hopefully he will get picked up.

  13. Eric y Says:

“Mocks everyone here” stay classy…. you may be a good dude but you suck , always have , and always will … thank you for sucking and making your release happen… good bye ma’am

  14. Lord Cornelius Says:

Happy with the move but never really hated this guy. I hated that the organization made him a leader / media guy, and I hated the defenses and defensive cultures he’s been a part of but that’s it. Was a solid player and person.

  15. LakeLand Says:

    9 years a Buc

    How did he do it

i couldn’t imagine spending 9 minutes on this pathetic team

  16. chargedcbh Says:

    RESPECT

  17. SpringHillBuc Says:

Total class act. It’s a shame so many Bucs “fans” talk smack about him. Good luck to you Gerald and ball out!!!

  18. SCBucsFan Says:

Haters are going to hate. In all aspects of their life. You think this is the only place they only see negativity? SMH… can you imagine having their horrid lives. Move onto their next target, years from now when the Bucs are playing in the Super Bowl they will be crying about ticket prices… because they are always crying.

  19. Bucsfankev Says:

You screwed us out of a trade. How are you coming back?

  20. 813bucboi Says:

    we’ll see….lol…

    GO BUCS!!!!

  21. D-Rome Says:

    Thank you, Gerald.

He is a class act, unlike the guy they just brought in to replace him.

He will be in the Ring of Honor and he deserves it.

  22. Cobraboy Says:

    I dunno.

Sounds like more of a threat to me.

He is a nice guy and good player who was a big part of not only a losing culture, but horrific defenses.

I appreciated Sapp’s virtualv”f@<k you" when he was jettisoned, the sign of a relentless winner.

  23. Howard Cosell Says:

Thank God! Now I can relax in my safe space knowing McCoy will retire as a Buc

  24. tmaxcon Says:

Garbage player and fraud as a person hopefully bucs are too busy winning to bring back a failure even on a 1 day contract…. face of the basement years just go away

  25. LakeLand Says:

I guess Bo Jackson was the worst hater
He refuse to spend 9 seconds with this pathetic franchise

    Bo knows football

  26. tmaxcon Says:

    D-rome

Stop confusing class with losing quietly and having no desire to be great

  27. Race to 10 Says:

It is what it is no hard feelings just time to move one so good luck except when you play the Bucs.

  28. Bird Says:

It was time for him to go …13 mil To much And 3 years of contract left.

He will be picked up quickly.
    Good luck

Class guy in the community . good dude
Unfortunately , he was the whopping boy of the excuses here and got blamed for some bad teams which he didn’t deserve
Some guys are off limits for whatever reason. He was not.

Now he gets to pick where he plays. Hope it’s not in NFC south.
Don’t think he is rung of honor. Good player for Bucs over years. Unfortunately Father Time catches us all

Hope the 3 mil they saved in Suh is worth the headache he is gonna bring.

  29. Bruce Blahak Says:

Suh wont be picking a guy up after he tackles him, the way football should be played. Too many players on the money and fame train. McSofty is exhibit A

  30. SCBucsFan Says:

LakeLand feel sorry for you. Always upset. You must be a joy to be around. I really feel for you and how miserable you are.

  31. Buc4evr Says:

Like GMC or not, that was a class thing to say from a guy that has given a lot to the community. Too bad some of the so called fans on this board lack any semblance of class.

  32. Dlavid Says:

Just so glad he is gone ! Yeah he was a good player but bottom line is the team never got it done with him as the supposed leader . All this talk about ROH is crazy …. please ….. how about we keep that honor for players that made a difference !?

  33. NOSBOS Says:

Awhll he’s saddened. That fool gone cry in the car.

  34. Buc believer Says:

As much as I disliked his play on the field I must admit he is staying classy. Good for you Gerald! Now it’s time to just go away.

  35. Cobraboy Says:

@Buc4evr: Class is fine, just win first.

Legacies are built on what you did on the field, not how you managed your 501C3 Foundation for tax purposes.

I am happy to replace a choirboy with a football menace.

    It is about time.

I suspect the personnel moves on D are far from over.

  36. NOSBOS Says:

And for christ sake people, you can compare Suh and 93 cause they play the same position but they clearly different football players. One is all finesse the other when he wants to be is a weapon of mass destruction. Can’t compare Batman with the Hulk.

  37. Siege the Bay Says:

We got the worst fans in football lol

  38. '74 Bucs fan Says:

I’m sorry but that was weird – the whole Batman intro thing. But ok.

Good luck Gerald! Thanks for being a class act in our community!

  39. TBUC North Carolina Says:

Gerald is a great guy and seems to be a good character Role model for the youth!!! I hope he lands on a good/great team!!! All the McCoy bashes would be singing his praises if he played for a Good/Great Bucs team. Like US Buccaneer fans he was stuck with a crap team consistently!! His legacy here over that last many years got Gumped!!! Thanks Meathead!!

  40. ColoBuc Says:

He may not be worth the money for 2019 but what a great human being. How many people on here could stomach the criticism from a portion of the fan base and continue with his attitude. First class all the way and I would be proud if my kids grew up with his outlook on life.

He might not have entirely lived up to his salary and lofty draft status but he has had a good to very good career though many of us expected excellence and HoF potential. Surrounded by more talent and better coaching who knows how he would be perceived differently.

He remains the only player I can recall who gets blasted for good sportsmanship.

  41. adam from ny Says:

def not a strong enough imprint to leave a legacy with the bucs…

classy yes…very good player, yes…a game changer or culture changer — no…

good luck elsewhere…it’s kong suh time now

  42. Mike Johnson Says:

Despite what some of you say, GMC will be inducted into our Ring Of Honor One day. Whatever the case, He gave us what he had during a time when many here were not interested in us regaining our Defensive greatness which..by the way, won us our 1st and only superbowl. He carried the load for several yrs with not much help along that D line. GMC won’t be jobless for very long. And I hope he goes to a contender. Good Luck sir. You’re a hellava role model for kids to immulate.

  43. tmaxcon Says:

All this meaningless he was a nice guy crap is laughable when he was paid to win and failed miserably at his job… i gurantee none of your bosses are paying you for a decade of failure because you are a nice guy…

  44. tmaxcon Says:

Watching the hallmark channel 24×7 is more manly than watching this fool

  45. tmaxcon Says:

    M j

Bucs ring of underachievement is laughable and filled with backups so you are right he probably will be

  46. RTG Bucs Says:

For all of you McCoy lovers. Please, Please, Please watch a game and focus on the D line. Not between snaps, not his time on the sideline, not his time in the community. Just focus from the snap of the ball until the whistle blows, nothing more because that is ALL that matters!

If I am considered a hater because I want good football players that play hard then I am proudly a hater!

  47. ATrain Says:

    So GMC is Retiring

The next announcement will be the Bucs will give him a one day contract so he can retire a Buc

  48. NOSBOS Says:

RTG they saw that man turn his back to the los often just like the rest of us bro. They look over that because to them he was so cute and cuddly.

  49. donuts Says:

We are living in different times.

McCoy is a better football player than social media user. Does Suh tweet? We need a line by line statistical breakdown per tweet with number of likes. Sounds like a Zach the intern task, if you ask me.

    Let me break the ice:

    Twitter FOLLOWERS:
    McCoy = 91K
    Suh = 600K

    Go Bucs!

  50. Alaskan Abdominal Snowman Says:

He should retire a Buc, he was a top 3 DT when in his prime, he was a big hearted man child and I loved that about him. If Lee Roy Selmon played in the age of social media, y’all would’ve chewed him up and spit him out as well. This classless fan base sickens me sometimes as much as this team. I hope Gerald well and hope he has his best season, except for when he plays us.

  51. Morgus the Magnificent Says:

Classy guy…..and he’ll retire with a Super Bowl ring, courtesy the Saints.

  52. Buc1987 Says:

    Phew I was worried.

    Quick Robin to the Batmobile…..

  53. Joes Mom Says:

Guys softer than the pillsberry dough boy.

  54. tmaxcon Says:

    donuts

cancer93 played for a small market franchise with an irrelevant and tiny fan-base. that would easily account for the follower discrepancy. plus, would you rather follow a man or a underrooos wearing doll collecting crying clown.

  55. #1bucsfan Says:

Actually tmaxipad I do get paid for being a nice guy I even get raises. this whole nice guys finish last too is total b.s guess what folks I’m not in last. THANKS GMC for all you’ve done on the field an off sorry the team couldn’t put more talent around you. THE REAL fans know there’s no I IN TEAM. It’s takes everyone from the owners right down to the water boy. Now let’s go #endthedrought

  56. Walkergodeep Says:

All y’all disrespecting him are some f**s

  57. Clw JB Says:

worth more money than i will ever sniff in ten lifetimes

    Good luck GMC!

  58. tmaxcon Says:

    #1delusionist

nice guys do always finish last and they always get cheated on….. the real fans accept on field results as fact and don’t let their little feelings get in the way because they are too weak to live in reality….

  59. unbelievable Says:

Class act all the way around!

He wore that batman gear just for the haters lol

  60. Alaskan Abdominal Snowman Says:

T you need some help man. You need like some serious psychiatric help from a mental health professional. Let me guess what you think, mental health is a scam created by weak minded Libtards? Well, it has been researched and documented to be able to help people such as yourself that don’t quite understand how things work in the world.

  61. stvcl Says:

Don’t bother coming back bro, I’m good.

  62. Zwak Says:

Turn the heat off in the car!

  63. tmaxcon Says:

    Alaskan Abdominal Snowman

i need the bucs to win simple as that pal… our healthcare system is a joke and the fact that everyone who makes a bad choice gets a label, free pass and a pill is laughable. for every real mental health issue there are hundreds of frauds playing to the mentally weak suckers!!!! just like welfare pal every hand out and excuse get’s abused….

  64. passthebuc Says:

We all move on at some time in our lives. Sorry, the last few years of your career did not work out as planned, the best of luck wherever you end up. If your thinking about Cleveland, let me pass on a message. Cold, GD cold and then colder. Willie Nelson says so in the song Pancho and lefty, “Cleveland’s cold” You will need to make double the money living in Cleveland, just to make life palatable.

  65. passthebuc Says:

You can tell by the postings, some people don’t know how to be men. They think their snide remarks make them cool, admired, someone to emulate, when in fact they are just viewed as children.

  66. FairMinded Says:

Much love Gerald…the haters can go take a long walk off a short pier

  67. FairMinded Says:

Passthebuc you’re so right…what happened to showing class? McCoy is showing it in spades here. A real man. Not like some of these keyboard jockeys in their tighty whities …zero class

  68. GreG Says:

Class act. Shame his prime was wasted

  69. swamp buc Says:

93! Man, I’m gonna miss seeing him in red and pewter.
I only wish him the best of luck.

    Safe journeys Gerald.

    Go Bucs!!!

Like Kevin Seconds once said… I Still Believe.

  70. Alexstotle Says:

    Bucs fans are the worst!

Bye McCoy, you’re a great player and a great man! Glad you gave us so many great years!

  71. Barack's Crack Pipe Says:

    Alaskan Abdominal Snowman Says:
“T you need some help man. You need like some serious psychiatric help from a mental health professional.”
    .
    .
You mean those “professionals” who, instead of treating people with a mental health issue like sexual dysphoria, rewrite the psychiatric standards to force the rest of us (97% of the population) to participate in their mental dysfunction, and teach our children to believe that pretending a man who feels pretty today is really a woman, is what’s best for society.

It’s only “best for society” if your purpose is to destroy western society and replace it with a babylonian paganism.

  72. Barack's Crack Pipe Says:

You know, I really do like GMC, and nothing I say about him should be taken personally by him. Before I watched his video, I actually had a bit of nostalgia going there. A little tugging at my heart strings.

Then he opened with that stupid homage to batman, and totally killed my buzz. Whatever. Bye.

    :/

  73. BucsBall80 Says:

I bet McCoy balls out this year. Hes got something to prove. Got a fire licht under his Axx!

  74. Simeon@simeon.com Says:

This guy was the leader of some of the worst d in league history, rarely showed up late in game or led team late in game. No one cares about above average players on terrible teams, and his lack of leadership(or skill) is partially why this team stinks.

  75. Br luceletdadogsloose Says:

It all began with me wishing we never drafted him & it has ended with me wishing we never drafted him..! Man I swear I hope this is now the absolute last time I have got to look at this guys ugly mug ! The team is just as bad with or without him and I’m just rooting for no more of it ! Hoping Bruce and Co. Are turning this ship around & in a hurry..I feel they did the right thing by finally cutting ties with this butt clown & who the hell cares what gmc thinks or does ! I am a bucs fan not a GMC fan & I put the team first and care about the teams well being ! Not his…I don’t want him to go somewhere and make a playoff run , I’m hoping the bucs can make a playoff run , finally again ! Just so tired af of over a decade of losing and disappointed disasters and this cry baby did nothing to stop the bleeding ! So long SUCKER !

  76. Brandon Says:

McCoy was a pretty good player. The Buccaneer defense has been very bad with McCoy on it… his stats are pretty good, the Bucs defensive stats and performances have been awful. And when he wasn’t in the lineup, pretty much the same. The Ring of Honor should be reserved for difference makers. I’m not sure McCoy was ever a difference maker. I don’t think any player deserves this honor that didn’t in some way make a difference on his side of the ball other than James Wilder, because without the offensive output by Wilder from 83-85, there was pretty much no offensive output. The Bucs defense sucked just as much with him as without him.
