Booger: Don’t Expect A Better Pass Rusher In Suh

May 21st, 2019

Booted and lauded

Bucs fans, including Joe, love today’s signing of manbeast defensive tackle Ndamukong Suh in the afterath of cutting Gerald McCoy last night.

But what did the Bucs really gain?

That will play out between the white lines, but former Bucs defensive tackle and current Monday Night Football voice Booger McFarland was offering a little direction/advice to fans on Twitter today.

“Will be interesting. People in Tampa crush McCoy because he doesn’t get enough sacks …. McCoy is a better rusher than Suh,” Booger Tweeted.

Very credible voice right there. Not only did Booger play the position, he was deep in film study last year for BSPN.

It’s ok if Suh isn’t the pass rusher McCoy was/is. McCoy was no slouch. There’s a lot more to playing the position, and so much of this move by Bucs officials is about a different energy and attitude on the field.

Suh had 1.5 sacks and five quarterback hits in three Rams postseason games last year. Joe will take that all day long.

  1. Jabuc Says:

Suh is a better gap filler and tackler

  2. tmaxcon Says:

suh is at least a man! he won’t cry and whine when he does not get all the attention. it’s not lke cancer93 and his great first step to the nearest camera won anything as a buc player and captain.

  3. ATrain Says:

Suh isn’t the pass rusher McCoy is Really

Suh has more sacks, more QB hits, more tackles for loss, and more solo tackles

Ummm how did we come up with that thought

  4. Cobraboy Says:

    It ain’t about sacks.

    It’s about attitude.

  5. ATrain Says:

I bet there won’t be any dancing on the sideline after a loss this year

  6. AlteredEgo Say: Your comment is awaiting moderation. Says:

McCoy will be back with Brate’s money 😉

  7. OBP Says:

They’re about equal in pass rushing skill but Suh is a significantly better run defender and is more durable, he should do really solid this year.

  8. Waterboy Says:

I agree he’s not a pass rusher but he’ll occupy some O-linemen to free up LB’s and won’t be apologizing to QB’s if they end up in the dirt.

  9. Tval Says:

Cobra GETS IT!!! Buy in, or GET OUT!! Goofy, know-nothing, fans included. 😆

  10. Dewey Selmon Says:

Did McCoy not want to play DE in a 3/4? Something Suh did last year.

  11. Bobby M. Says:

Cheaper and meaner…..its worth a shot. Nice and expensive produced a lot of terrible defensive play for a lot of losing seasons.

  12. Jean Lafitte Says:

At least he can tackle and knock down passes and I’m gonna guess he’s around $3 million cheaper.

  13. Mike Johnson Says:

When you’ve lost as many games as our Bucs? You’ll go for anything. Suh is not the answer. Sure he’s mean and dirty..then what? One could argue GMC was the better pass rusher. Maybe not tackler..but better pass rusher. Ain’t that what we need right now?

  14. Tampabaybucfan Says:

Let’s face it……BA & Bowles simply didn’t want McCoy at any price near $10mil…..McCoy would have restructured for that but wasn’t asked.

I don’t care that much about Suh’s pass rushing skills but I do care about his driving skills. Drive safely Mr. Suh!!!

  15. Lord Cornelius Says:

People didn’t crush McCoy for a lack of sacks… At least not here.

Suh vs McCoy isolated per game:

    Solo Tackles Per Game
    2.28 vs 1.78

    Total Tackles Per Game
    3.37 vs 2.42

    Sacks per game
    0.40 s 0.44

Stuff for Loss or whatever (Tackles for loss I believe)
    .44 vs .33

Comes out to 16 game averages of

SUH: 36 solo tackles, 54 total, 6.3 sacks, and 7 stuffs or whatever

MCCOY: 28 solo tackles, 38 total, 7 sacks, and 5 stuffs or whatever

So yeah give me Suh all day. Basically take McCoy’s impact plays in terms of overall tackles, solo tackles, tackles for loss and add 30% to it,, while docking his sack production 10%.

Also pretty sure if you go by QB hurries they have been similar with Suh outproducing him many years.

    GO BUCS WOO

  16. ATrain Says:

Ok I have to ask again, OBP How is GMC a better pass rusher

Is this Because you think so
    Is this a Opinion???

The Stats day Suh is Better all the way around

  17. Tbbucs3 Says:

Is Suh a better stat padder in meaningless late game senarios? No

Is Suh an overall better defensive tackle who can play a complete game and doesn’t get manhandled in the run game? Yes

  18. Smashsquatch Says:

Culture change underway…..opposing teams proceed with caution……Buc vets take note………”under construction” walls surround the practice fields….coming soon…….

  19. Buccaneer Bonzai Says:

    tmaxcon Says
“Suh is at least a man! he won’t cry and whine…”

We’ll see about that when he isn’t making $14m per year and is expected to give 100 percent.

But we both know the real reason you didn’t like McCoy. Same reason you did not like Dungy. Has nothing to do with skin color…it has to do with their Christian beliefs. Because you are a bigot.

  20. SenileSenior Says:

McCoy has a better sack average in terms of average per game played. Suh has more sacks than McCoy careerwise, i.e., average per season. He has been much more durable and has played many more games overall. You can compare them yourselves by checking out there career stats side by side.

    _________
    Go Bucs!

  21. ATrain Says:

By the way. Big Ben stated today he will not play in the first preseason game because he refuse to get knocked down and get No Apology

    😂😂😂

  22. Snook Says:

Thank goodness this opinion isn’t from someone who actually knows what they’re talking about.

“People in Tampa crush McCoy because he doesn’t get enough sacks”

Uhhh… nope. I don’t like McCoy because he’s never been an impact player. Never makes a play when you need him to. Suh is an upgrade. Period.

  23. DooshLaRue Says:

    Bonzai

Shouldn’t you be working on one of your so-called “novels”?
You know, poorly written fantasy-land bullish!t.

This is reality and you are seriously disconnected to it.

  24. Jonathan Limpchimpi Says:

The fact that self appointed ”Buc insider” Bonzee aka Pear Shaped Petey D. doesn’t like the move makes it a good one in my ( non- elf erotica ) book. It was simply time to move on from McCoy and his 13 mil salary. This same fella called 2nd round pick L. David a bust while claiming Arguayo was a keeper.

  25. SOEbuc Says:

They weren’t going to pay GMC $8-10 million to play in a 3-4 defense. I’m thinking this deal with Suh was being worked on probably a week ago. Got to an agreement and told Gerald to walk.

Suh and Vea next to each other, along with White and LVD in the middle behind them and opponents run games will get sh!t on. McCaffrey little ass…HA!

  26. Andrew Says:

Suh doesn’t miss games. Very durable.

  27. Wesley Says:

It’s kind of a wash, but Suh is nastier and more durable. Now get someone to replace JPP.

  28. Bird Says:

I can’t use name or I go into moderation.

    Clueless you know who.

Suh has cried everywhere he has been when he doesnt get enough attention. He cares only about himself.
He was quiet last year cause everyone is scared of Aaron Donald.
So he is meaner then McCoy?

Now It needed to be done. Since McCoy gone and sounds like 3 mil cheaper.
He is the same player though. Lateral move for most part.
Hope he doesn’t take a dump in the locker room.

  29. Alvin Scissors Harper Says:

And like the Grinch, Tmax’s heart grew three sizes that day! Nice to see him a little optimistic. I know Suh can stop the freaking run. I’ll take Suh’s heart over McCoy’s all day long. Most of McCoy’s sacks come at a time it doesn’t matter anyway. Time to see a little nasty on the d line. I like it!

  30. SOEbuc Says:

These old Bucs Dlineman like Sapp and Booger are friends with GMC and trying to help get his stock up.

  31. Bird Says:

Oh he is meaner. Love the justification here

    Nobody likes Suh
Not one player would stand up and have suhs back.
Again , he was under control last year cause Aaron Donald is a bad man . No one will mess with him. So Suh shut his loud mouth.

Suh has been disliked by players , coaches and fans everywhere he has been.
A real cancer to the locker room. Do a little research people.
Hope this doesn’t blow up in bucs face.

It needed to be done. Agree with move.

They got a comparable McCoy type player at cheaper price. So it’s all good.
But to celebrate like this is a home run is a little insane

  32. First Down Tampa Bay Says:

Aside from just straight up talent, Suh fits Bowles’ 3-4 scheme much better than GMC could. GMC has been very vocal in his opposition of the 3-4 defense, so this combined with his 13 mil salary are best suited for another team.

Time for a new era of Bucs Football.

  33. BucEmUp Says:

Suh will be better against the run. My only.concern is him getting along with temmates and not bringing a bad vibe to the locker room…BUT bruce arians is someone who will get the guys playing hard for each other with one common goal

  34. tmaxcon Says:

oh bonzi is that the best you got… results is why i hate dungy the clown and cancer93 they failed…. dungy the clown is an overrated hypocrite. If you are religious man of faith and walk the walk nothing but respect but when you are proven public hypocrite like dungy you can kiss my arse….

  35. Maze Says:

Suh is the new enforcer up front teaching Vea a new mindset in the trenches

  36. Todd Says:

    @Bird

BA is not like ANY other coach Suh has experienced. He’s the Alpha’s ALPHA!

  37. Buccaneer Bonzai Says:

    DooshLaRue/TMaxCom

Apparently I struck a nerve. If you are not the same person (likely) then you are probably in the same club.

  38. BigMacAttack Says:

McCoy is hurt over 70% of the time. He played hurt yes, and his production suffered. I’m glad he’s gone. The idiot Licht should have traded him two years ago. Instead he wasted more money on Gerald and got nothing in return. GM in training with a D- grade.

  39. Mike Johnson Says:

All that glitters is not gold people. This will be Suh’s 3rd NFl team within
the last 3 yrs. Hmnnn Wanna know why? I’ll wait for responses then tell
    you why…….

  40. Tampabaybucfan Says:

    @ Bird

…..I go to moderation also whenever I use the “name”……I wonder how many others experience that……It is almost as if that “person” is being protected.

I am forced to use all sorts of creative ways to escape moderation…..so, I just call him troll.

  41. Nick Says:

@Bird -/- Suh shut up because he was scared of Arron Donald????
Please, AD is a great football player. But don’t get it twisted Suh not backing down from any man.

  42. Tampabaybucfan Says:

JPP needs to be cut……we need the $7.5 and there is absolutely no way to tell when or if he will return and what kind of production we get from him if he does.

Other than loyalty to the player and perhaps trying to keep the use of a 3rd round pick from being a near waste, there is no reason to keep him.

    This is a complete no-brainer.

  43. Bob Ross Says:

Isn’t Suh the guy who was seen stomping on an opponent’s neck? Go Bucs.

  44. Rob F Says:

LOL. What would Booger know about pass rush…

  45. SC Bucs Fan Says:

Please don’t feed TPax. His main source of food had dried up. Let him starve.

  46. GhostofSchiano Says:

Just hope this doesn’t turn into Dominick – Haynesworth 2.0

  47. TexBuc Says:

Sacks are wonderful for defensive players, but the goal is to hurry the QB into an incompletion or turnover in other words QB pressure. A blitzing defense while not actually blitzing 100% of the time creates a sense of urgency in the QB to hurry the play and may not get through all his reads. A DL like Suh may not actually get more sacks than McCoy, but his bigger physical presence, coarse attitude, and reputation will mentally pressure the QB into a sense of urgency to hurry the play to avoid contact.

  48. bucfan999 Says:

The biggest difference between Gerald McCoy & Ndamakong Suh is a culture change on the defensive side of the ball. As good as McCoy was his entire tenure here in Tampa the defense has been soft. McCoy was a good guy on & off the field, he would joke with, laugh & help up the opposition during games. Now with Suh I expect to see a change in the attitude of the defense. You can laugh & joke with the opposing team before kickoff & after the game is over but during the game the opposing players will be treated as enemies to be beaten down until they give up and lose. I for one have longed for a change in the culture like this and applaud the Bucs for this move. BRAVO BUCS!!!!!!

  49. DB55 Says:

My I post these Suh vs McCoy stats?

    https://twitter.com/kfromfla/status/1130964526827003904?s=21

  50. Eric y Says:

Booger was just like McCoy … always hurt … both Super Bowls he didn’t play… really not a super bowl champion

  51. Tbbucs3 Says:

Tmax just created an account on JoeBrownsFan

  52. #1bucsfan Says:

A-train bro do the research suh literally has 2 more sack than McCoy 🤦‍♂️ so people are just stupid like tmaxipad get that shirt out of here

  53. gotbbucs Says:

Major upgrade in the running game.

I was never upset about McCoy’s production as a pass rusher. The running game is where he lacked, and it was glaring at times. His gap integrity sucked, which is a huge no-no in a one gap system. Bowles runs a one gap 3-4 system where I’m sure McCoy would have hung guys out to dry too.

  54. D1 Says:

Before launching into a ad hoim attack on booger, or anyone else for that matter , please include your NFL resume.

  55. #1bucsfan Says:

Good job Bonzai haha lovin’ it

  56. Adrnagy Says:

I can see McCoy best fit is with Dallas. Rod marenelli should pull out 2-3 good years. If he goes with the browns he will be a back up. Bengals for money. La chargers could happen. Hopefully this wakes the dude up. Booger doesn’t know what he’s talking about. You can be disrupted but you’re not complete.

  57. Bird Says:

    Todd

Suh played under wade Phillips last year.
Trust me. He is an alpha just like Arians

  58. #1bucsfan Says:

A-train do the research suh has 2 more sacks than McCoy oh he’s so much better sorry people suhs stats arnt that much better. Hey tmaxipad it’s easy for you to sit there an type anything you want. Be a man an go line up a in their position an until you do shut that trap

  59. D1 Says:

    Mike Johnson,

What’s your say is 100% correct but this isn’t about how many likes each one would get if they had a YouTube channel.

On the field , Suh isn’t liked by anyone. Whereas McCoy is or seemingly liked, loved and universally respected. The question really is , did the bucs improve their situation? Anything else is just extraneous fodder for fans to bat back and forth like a volleyball.

  60. LakeLand Says:

Bucs fans are celebrating the signing of a 32 year old declining DT

    SMH

  61. DooshLaRue Says:

    Bonzai

I just noticed that your ratings for one of your “great novels” slipped a bit.

Seems you only voted it 5 stars yourself….. 3 times!
You better jump on Goodreads real quick and give it another 5 star vote.

You are truly a sad little man living in a fantasy world.

  62. LakeLand Says:

    Lol

    Life of a Buc fan

  63. Bucsfanman Says:

Oh how the tables turn! I never would’ve imagined Suh replacing GMC in a million years. Here you have it Buc fans, it’s finally front and center: Suh versus McCoy.
I can’t say how much of an upgrade we made. We should be pretty stout in the run-game at least.
Welcome to Tampa Bay Mr. Suh!

  64. Jean Lafitte Says:

A 32 year old declining DT who eats nails for breakfast and $3M cheaper than the 31 year old declining DT who could barely move after games.

    NMH

  65. B-Rad Says:

Suh brings a different energy and attitude. McFarland was more like McCoy and Suh was closer to Sapp. Given that McCoy was a bigger impact on the field than McFarland . He was lucky to play next to Sapp then get picked up by the Colts where Dungy won with Peyton’s team. McFarland just do Monday night football and be sure to thank The Big Dog for how far you have come and don’t fuch it up!!!

  66. OBP Says:

@ATrain It’s pretty obvious, despite missing 21 games in his career McCoy is only 2.5 back from Suh. Objectively he’s been the better pass rusher because he’s been able to the QB almost as many times as Suh in significantly fewer games, but again Suh is more durable and a better run defender, thus the better player.

  67. LakeLand Says:

Why would teams be running the ball up the gut against the Bucs. Especially with their young, inexperienced secondary. This don’t make sense. The Bucs need pass rushers, not run stoppers. They tried that last season, and they sucked against the pass and run.

    SMDH

  68. Eric y Says:

That’s ok … I’ll take suh over McCoy … I like beasts not cry babies

  69. Bird Says:

    Let’s
Hope he still cares and brings his A game

The dolphins wanted to get rid of him so bad that they are still paying 13.1 in dead cap this year. (9 mil last year playing in LA )

I know he fills a big hole. Very similar to McCoy type player. And appears for 3 mil cheaper so good.
I just hope he doesn’t turn the locker room into a germ infested sess pool

  70. LakeLand Says:

So now the Yucs has found their Moses. A 32 year old DT gone take them to the promise land. This is the results of 40+ years of losing. They cut a 31 year old declining DT and Signed a 32 year old declining DT.

Whoopie on to the Super Bowl
    SMDH

This team and it fan base has lost touch with reality

  71. BucsBall80 Says:

The coaches have made there decision on McCoy and dubbed Sue better for the team. Sue will eat up double teams. And do the dirty work Mc Icecreams biceps couldn’t get done. Great move coaches. “Ok Im Reloading.”
    More moves on the way.!

  72. Doctor Stroud Says:

Suh is thinking more about his post-football career and is hanging out with the likes of his new friend, Warren Buffett, who will gladly help him count $10 million of Team Glazer loot. #PaidFloridaVaction

  73. Destinjohnny Says:

    5-11

  74. Defense Rules Says:

@Bird … “They got a comparable McCoy type player at cheaper price. So it’s all good.
But to celebrate like this is a home run is a little insane.” Thank you Bird; at least someone gets it. This was a business transaction … nothing more, nothing less. BA is letting Todd Bowles ‘rebuild’ this defense from top to bottom. Hallelujah … it’s long past due. But whoever lined up next to Vea this year, whether it’d been McCoy or now Suh, it’s still a stop-gap measure. A ‘bridge’ as some have called it.

This defense is coming together. More changes will be made I’m confident, but with a tough training camp we stand a decent chance of being competitive at least. Personally think this defense will improve quite significantly over last year. Heck we gave up 464 points last year … 31st in the league. That’s 29 PPG … yuck. Even if we get it down to just 400 points this year … 25 PPG … that’d be a significant improvement IMO. That’s right what Green Bay surrendered last year … and they ranked #22. That’s doable.

  75. Stonedbuc Says:

WE DONT NEED A BETTER PASH RUSH FROM SUH, WE NEED THE F’ING ATTITUDE HE IS GOING TO BRING TO OUR DEFENSE. WOULD YOU RATHER HAVE DEVIN WHITE LEARN TENACITY AND TOUGHNESS FROM MCCOY OR SUH?

  76. tmaxcon Says:

    Bucsfanman

dude it’s the best you can hope for

  77. LakeLand Says:

You don’t need McCoy or Suh.

They too old, teams are getting younger
    Not older

  78. DB55 Says:

I’m yet to hear any of the ice cream worshippers say they were wrong! Completely wrong for the last 5 years! Man up and accept your faults.

A coach with multiple super bowl rings came in and the first thing he did was cut McCoy and replaced him with Suh!!!!!!! #Rotfl

You “real fans” are funny! I’ve been saying it for years but to be fair I don’t think it’s your fault. First, as life long buc fans you’ve never ever seen what real football looks like (outside of a two year stretch) and second I blame the FL public education system.

Ohhh man the TROLLS have sweet sweet redemption! We were right all along.

PS. Please start working on your excuses now for when the Bucs make the playoffs this year:

Ohh ohh McIceCream never got to play with Vea next to him.
Ohh ohh McIceCream played with bums for 90% of his career (even though almost everyone he’s ever played with has either played in a PO game or SB)
Ohh ohh McIceCream is a great guy OFF-the-field though
Ohh ohh McIceCream blah blah blah

Work on those excuses now! Cuz the truth is McIceCream is a bum and I really feel like he’ll have to retire cuz every coach in the league knows he’s garbage and that why they all ran right at him. He’s a liability point blank.

I’ll be here all night folks, celebrating!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  79. LakeLand Says:

You add a few old heads if you’re a contender

This team won’t contend for nothing

QUIT ADDING THESE OLD HEADS EVERY YEAR
You build a solid team through the draft
Oh I forgot, the Bucs GM is incapable of drafting decent players

  80. Buccaneerscotty Says:

    I don’t love the swap ! I can’t stand it ….

  81. Jean Lafitte Says:

    LakeLand

You left out $3,000,000.00 cheaper to pay for our crop of drafted players.

  82. tmaxcon Says:

    Buccaneerscotty Says:
    May 21st, 2019 at 7:47 pm

    I don’t love the swap ! I can’t stand it ….

you don’t love winning either just choirboy failures…..

  83. LakeLand Says:

There’s no way in hell I’m signing a 32 year old has-been Suh.
He’s a washed up bum, that’s looking for a payday

The Bucs are the only fools that want him

And you say $3 million cheaper

I wouldn’t sign Suh for the League Minimum

  84. Bucnjim Says:

Here is where some fans are completely missing the point! I really haven’t seen any fan on here saying Suh is some sort of savior. It is 100% about culture change and little to do about who is the better player. This organization has been so worried about character the last ten years it has lost sight of the fact they also need to be great players. Lets face it a lot of these guys aren’t saints and if that’s all you are looking for then you end up with what the defense has been since 2009. A finesse D the gets smacked around by bigger badder teams. It didn’t just start either it’s been going on too long.

  85. DB55 Says:

    Lake

You just lost the game bc you messed up your defensive assignment. Who would you rather answer to, Suh or McIceCream?

McIceCream would probably grab you and hug you like he’s Robert Paulson.

  86. DB55 Says:

    Bucnjim gets it

  87. Todd Says:

    @LakeLand

Straight up trade right now…would you trade Winston for Tom Brady?

  88. Bucnjim Says:

The first time I was able to see it first hand was when the Ravens came into Raymond James wearing their black uniforms on purpose. Their offensive line was literally laughing at our D in their face. They did anything and everything they wanted to on offense and of course their D was like it has always been dominating. Our D did what they have been doing the last decade which is fold like a turtle hiding in its shell.

  89. kelley rose Says:

I’m so happy GMC is gone. He was the softest football player ever what a joke. maybe now we can have a badass defense.

  90. Buc believer Says:

I agree with Booger McCoy is definitely a faster rusher…. to the bank, to the cameras to the media to do an interview.

  91. rrsrq Says:

Rams gave up 140 yard rushing per game. They were also second to last in giving up explosive plays. They defense did hit their stride going into the playoffs, but the offense carried them, even with pro bowl corners and defensive linemen

  92. SOEbuc Says:

Suh is a major d!ck. But don’t expect Arians and Bowels to go cry in the corner if he starts making trouble in the locker room. This aint Koetter country no more and these guys don’t put up with any BS in their locker room.

  93. GoBuxFla Says:

McCoy- Good pass rusher, horrid rushing tackler. Can be beaten with one solid OL and a chip block from another OL or FB/TE. Also gives up after chip block enabling OL to reach LB/DB level creating larger running lanes.

Suh – Satan incarnate. Scares the hell out of QBs, GMC didn’t. Mandatory double blocks on all plays. He’ll open up pass rush lanes for our LB’s in a 3-4 scheme. Plus the days of giving up 10+yard runs on that side cease and desist. Between Vea and Suh, we have the nastiest two inside players we have had since the days of Sapp.

  94. Bucnjim Says:

Lakeland are you upset they let McCoy go, brought in Suh or both? If you want change changes need to be made. Like I’ve said many times it’s hard to get any worse than last right? My problem has never been JUST with McCoy but with our D the last ten years. If you are going to quit at the first sign of adversity like we’ve done through four coaching changes then it is time for a CHANGE!

  95. JimmyJack Says:

Lakeland calm down. Suh is a good football player. Period.

Can’t draft intsant starters for every position. You gotta get a few old vets to patch and bridge some positions. It’s what the other 31 teams do so let’s not pretend the Bucs are doing something abnormal.

  96. Estimatedprop Says:

Nevermind comparing stats etc. Why did his own teammates demote him from team captain in 2018? I don’t they were looking at stats. Perhaps it was a perceived lack of leadership skills and attitude.

  97. Clw JB Says:

Watching GMC get pushed out of his gap about 1000 times, it’s time for a truly physical DLine

Vea, Suh very nice start – good luck running inside ANYONE!

  98. lewis Says:

Db 55 is right on point there is a real coach in town get use to it joe is what wrong with the Buc mentality he doesnt know about that winning thing and i am tired of all the how bad we are crap

  99. lewis Says:

Gmc needed to move on that gets the attention no excuses either you can play or your gone an di have seen Mcoy laughing it up with his team mates when we were down bye 20 in the 4th

  100. Jfat Says:

I wonder if it just coincidence Donald doubled his sack total playing with Suh? Guessing the big fella had something to do with it.

  101. DB55 Says:

So who are teams going to double? They can’t double both Suh and Vea.

  102. D-Rome Says:

    It’s about attitude.

Robert Ayers had attitude. How’d that work out?

  103. gotbbucs Says:

I love the fantasy football crowd on here that thinks you just run out to the waiver wire and find All Pro players laying around.
The “we dont need to sign DT, we need to sign DE”, as if there’s just a stock pile of good players laying around at all times.

Joe somehow got it in his head that Leonard Williams, a player with a $14 million price tag on his head under contract with the Jets, is the answer to all the defensive problems that this team has ever had, so now he’s going to beat that dead horse until there’s nothing left but some dried up skin and bones. He found a common denominator, Todd Bowles, a d now that’s just got to happen like its magic. I can’t wait to see who the next infatuation is.

The answer isnt always bringing a bunch of hired guns in from out of town. Believe it or not, sometimes coaches coach players and scheme fit them.

  104. tnew Says:

It’s not just about attitude. Attitude might be just a side benefit. The fact is stylistically these are two very different players. GMC is dependent on quicks, get off and guessing correctly. GMC must split gaps to make a play. Suh can do that but he plays much more disciplined. Suh engages, maintains gap control and reads the play. Once GMC engages, its pretty much over. Devin White has to be sooooo happy right now. With Suh and Vea in front of him, White and LVD will be pretty clean and allow their athleticism to make plays. Playing to GMC’s strengths the LB’s have to react off of GMC.

  105. LargoBuc Says:

Well if we are playing a 34/2 gap front then Suh, being bigger and stronger than McCoy, makes as much sense schematicaly as it does culture wise.

  106. Cobraboy Says:

@D-Rome: Suh is better and has more attitude than Ayers squared.

You are peddling some weak sauce.

  107. Buccos Says:

Arians had his choice. He could resign McCoy or he could bring in Suh. He chose Suh, just like anyone who knows football would do.I wanted Sun on draft day but at least we finally got him 10 years later. This is a real man not some diva with purple hair.

  108. Christopher Schiefen Says:

Ironic Booger said that ‘cause I’d argue McFarland is McCoy to Suh’s Sapp.

  109. Rob Tanner Says:

I can think of 3 million reasons why suh is better the. McCoy

  110. Walkergodeep Says:

This was not a good move Suh will come here just to take a free check

  111. adam from ny Says:

mccoys “i’m sorry ben” type nature was bleeding out onto the rest of the squad and that had to stop…hopefully suh’s dog nature will get these young bucs all woke and frothing…

remember…our season ended last year on monday night at home to pittsburgh…because gmc apologized twice and conte got freight trained…sapp would have stood over ben and not moved…and ben would have had to push him out of the way while getting up…mccoy was responsible for sealing the fate on last season by his passive actions alone in a national mnf game…he showed the bucs are nothing and can be walked over by his apologetic maneuvers…and this was after his teammate got freight trained…you’d have thought the response would be to wreak a bit of havok…not to apologize

  112. KingBuc17 Says:

I don’t care about this sportsmanship vs nasty stuff…. we got Suh93 for about half of what we owed GM93. I think they have both been about the same throughout their careers.
Now cut Gholston and get Leonard Williams if Jets really shopping him. Love the way this Defense is shaping up….Nasty Mammoth Pewter Pirates up front, fast aggressive LB’s and sticky press speed in the back….

    OLB Barrett | Spence
DL Ndamukong Suh | B Allen
NT Vita Vea | Stevie T
DL Leonard Williams | Beckner | Daniels
OLB Carl Nassib | Anthony Nelson (JPP wk9)

  113. Negative Nancy Says:

Hard to root for a team with such disregard for character. Tony Dungy’s team this is clearly not.

  114. Nick2 Says:

Whatever one soft D Tackle defending another. We need Suh plain and simple. Leroy Selmon was a great person just like McCoy but he never helped opposing teammates off the turf. The days of our defense being called soft need to be over and it starts with trading out McCoy for Suh!!!! Never saw Booger get tough either the guy was an injury waiting to happen.

  115. Old School Athlete Says:

Hilarious how the guys on here who complain about the Bucs committing stupid penalties are the same ones happy about Suh. He is the king of stupid penalties!

Well duh, McCoy has been more productive the last several years
