“Very Twitched Up”

April 27th, 2019

New Bucs rookie cornerback Sean Bunting

Yes, the Bucs surprised plenty of observers and drafted a cornerback, Sean Bunting, out of Central Michigan at No. 39 overall last night.

The next three corner prospects were selected by the Raiders, Patriots and Browns, so it will be fun to see how their careers pan out.

NFL Network scouting guru Daniel Jeremiah, the former team scout, weighed in on the Bunting pick:

Big corner. He can play inside-outside. Very twitched up. He’s a little grabby downfield, which is something he needs to work on. Very aggressive.

First, Bunting has to win a starting gig, and obviously he’ll get every opportunity after being drafted that early. It’ll be interesting to see if he stays aggressive early at the NFL level; some guys get tentative. Bucs corners typically looked tentative the past two years. Part of that was scheme but not all.

One thing Joe likes is all these young corners get to practice against a veteran receiving corps. They should learn a lot, and hopefully the defensive backs coaches won’t be inept this season.

Bunting worked in “major league “ at the end

  2. NOSBOS Says:

That last line is why he is a Buc now.

  3. NOSBOS Says:

Basketball background like ME. Gawd I love those type. Vertical ridiculous. Coburn mentioned a defensive set on the other thread 3-3-5. That makes my mouth drool. Screw a sack, find a lane to fit your pass in go ahead try it. I dare you. Oops oski oski.

  4. NOSBOS Says:

One more Coburn if you recall that’s what the birds were doing to Brady first half that Super Bowl. Had 12 looking befuddled. For whatever reason they’re game plan changed in the second half and the rest was history.

    Hey Joe,

You’ve probably given up on this idea already, but you should think about hosting a live show during the draft if possible. Would love to hear the Joes and Sage going back and forth live during the draft.

  6. DB55 Says:

Compare his highlights to JoeJuan Williams and tell me they chose the right guy. That is if you can even find his highlights but wtfdik.

And you pass on Dalton Risner, idk I’m really at a loss.

    Round 3 even more perplexing

  7. AlabamaBucsFan Says:

This year the Bucs found 6″1 CB who are fast and can ball.

  8. DB55 Says:

    Holyfield in the 5th?

  9. Cobraboy Says:

I blame coaching 90% for the “tentative” we saw the last 2-3 years on defense. The entire defense has looked confused and out of position. That is coaching.

    …………….

@NOSBOS: I haven’t heard the word “oski” in 38 years. Thanks for the stroll down memory lane. 😀 😀

  10. DB55 Says:

    Oh man I give up

  11. rrsrq Says:

Heard his interview on Sirius XM this morning, Bunting said that both Bowles and Arians told him, they love his game but he has to work on getting his hands off the receiver

Fireeeee Licht! Jason Doofus…. there is dumb, dumber, and Jason Licht

  13. Old Time Buc Says:

I 100% agree with you DB. I can never figure why they leave good players on the board to draft guys they hope might make the team! So very depressing! But as I said before they are the most consistent with their draft picks. Because nobody else would pick them we are an equal opportunity failure employer.

  14. Old Time Buc Says:

You can try to hype up Bunting to be a great 2 rd pick but there were other cb rated higher and other needs more pressing right then Go ahead and prove me wrong, I like crow! With this team I haven’t ever had to eat any though.

  15. Alstott up the gut Says:

9 secondary players drafted in last 4 drafts (6 in the last 2 drafts). That sounds like we are either missing a lot on picks or have zero patience with some of these kids. Remember when Ronde Barber had a slow start but Dungy wouldn’t give up on him?? You better be right about competition Licht…. some of this massive draft capital better hit!

  16. Defense Rules Says:

With his speed & aggressiveness, Bunting has a chance to break into the starting lineup. The measurables are there; let’s see what he’s got when the big boys come at him. here’s hoping we’ve found an answer at outside corner.

    Lichts a moron
