Shaq Barrett Wants To Show “My Full Arsenal Of Pass Rush Moves”

April 1st, 2019

New Bucs OLB Shquil Barrett.

Meet new Bucs DE/LB Shaq Barrett, one of the not-so-big free agent signings of 2019.

He came out to chat with media today at One Buc Palace, Day 1 of the latest Bucs campaign.

Observers of head coach Bucco Bruce Arians know his program runs on three core words: trust, loyalty and respect. Those were themes expressed to Bucs players this morning, Barrett said, but in the video below you can see Barrett forget those principles. Funny stuff.

Barrett talked about his desire to be a starter and showcase his pass rush moves. He also added that he didn’t play as much as he wanted to last season in Denver and he wants to shine here and score a multi-year contract.

Barrett also said a 3-4 defense was a big lure to Tampa, and he loves the flexibility of this scheme. Unlike many other Bucs, Barrett had a significant sitdown with defensive coordinator Todd Bowles before he signed his contract. He said Bowles has a very exciting defense planned. Other Bucs under contract from last season weren’t permitted to talk football with Bowles before today.

There’s more. Watch Barrett in the video below.

This young man has really shown flashes. Hopefully he can do it here

  2. TDTB Says:

Even if he proves to be a depth chart player, this was still a great signing.

    he’ll be a starter and we’ll shine….

    #REALISTKNOWSNOTHING!!!!…GO BUCS!!!!

  4. DB55 Says:

Weird how every single winning team talks about the team chemistry off the field. Logan mankind talked about it too. Jameis seems to be the one who always gathers players to do stuff off the field while the 6x pro bowler is always alone doing his own thing.

I love all of these one year deals for players with high ceilings that may not have had great starts to their careers. Really smart way to get production out of guys. They really have no choice but to play their arses off to get that payday. Cant wait to see these coaches.

  6. Francisco Menendez Says:

Joe, PFT is reporting Duke Johnson is requesting a trade. Expensive contract, but can catch the ball unlike our current RBs

  7. Polkfan Says:

Db55 , Wasn’t it Gerald that you planned the all-defense dinner last year ? , you guys need to stop reaching about this “ cancer McCoy “ thing. I mean if I wasted my prime on a whole bunch of 2-5 win teams I’d be pretty pissed too.

  8. Anonymous Says:

Just win, that’s all we want. Idc if it is Shaq, Noah, JPP, Nassib, LVD, Beckwith or whoever we draft from edge to mlb, just dominate.

@Anonymous Smartest comment I’ve seen on here in weeks

    I like this guy.

  11. JC Says:

The female report suggesting he will might have cover like Von Miller covering Jerricho Cotchery…. lol

I have to admit, I’ve been studying what ever video I can find on Barrett and I’m a little intrigued by his instinctual prowess. He is attracted to the ball like a magnet. He does really well recognizing and anticipating direction changes. He’s has some baggage as well, I noticed sometimes when he would be near the line of scrimmage he would get caught leaning back on his heels and loses his leverage against blocks up field resulting in missed tackles, but he’s a bona fide ball magnet from what I’ve studied.

  13. Tampa Bay Demon Says:

Several national pundits called this one of the “best under the radar signings in the NFL”.

    Definitely hoping they are right.

Didn’t he only get a 1 year deal, though? Please correct me if I am wrong. If is upside is as good as many have said….. I wish it had been a longer deal.
