“Both Had Problems With Pregnancies”

April 23rd, 2019

Bucs coach Bruce Arians.

Sometimes, Joe just can’t pass up a big fat fastball.

It was a serious subject that Bucco Bruce Arians discussed but his choice of words will hang in Joe’s memory bank for years to come.

Some veterans were not in attendance at the voluntary OTA underwear football practice today. Bucs stud defensive tackle Gerald McCoy was not there. Neither was linebacker Lavonte David.

Joe did not see Jason Pierre-Paul there, either. And from the many videos JPP has posted recently on Instagram of him working out, it doesn’t appear he is at One Buc Palace.

Another tip-off that JPP is not at One Buc Palace is he’s working out with chicks. Now the Bucs may have hired a couple of women assistant coaches but to the best of Joe’s knowledge, Bucs AC/DC-loving general manager Jason Licht has not signed any women to the roster.

After practice, Arians was asked about the veterans not being there. He mentioned GMC was not there and then said two others who didn’t show “both had problems with pregnancies, so they are excused.”

No, Joe doesn’t think the two unspecified players are both in the middle of medical miracles. And from JPP’s Instagram videos, his wife doesn’t appear to be with child.

At any rate, a mundane springtime underwear football practice was made memorable by Arians’ one-liner, intentional or not.

Now, Joe will resume watching “Three Stooges” videos.

yes, i suppose a spouse with complications during pregnancy is hilarious. let’s move past the phrasing and wish whoever’s family it is (presumably lavonte and another player) well. i don’t know if the Joes are married our have kids, but the while the mother-to-be goes through most of the stuff, pregnancy is most definitely a “we” thing for a couple

  2. AlteredEgo Says:

JPP lives in florida I believe so it is not far out of his life to show up for OTAs..don’t know about David…but has responsible fathers and family bread winners…show up for underwear football

    More Stooges videos please

Its hilarious that missing Bucs vets are working out with a former Bucs strength coach at his new gym after he was let go in favor of BA’s lady coaches. How you think that tastes to BA and his coaches.

  5. Mort Says:

Who cares, it’s voluntary. They’re all excused because the team can’t say jack about it.

  6. Bird Says:

Sounds like Dotson and Donovan smith were not there either

  7. firethecannons Says:

JPP last year spent this time working out on his own — no worries
JPP is the ultimate pro–rest of the team needs more coach time

  8. Defense Rules Says:

Maybe it’s just me, but I think that not having several of the veterans there at today’s OTAs says more than some might surmise. JPP I get; McCoy also. And I’m assuming that LVDs wife is the one who’s pregnant? But IF Dotson & Donovan Smith weren’t there, that’s significant. Might not speak well for where this train might be headed. BOTH of them NEED as much OLine work as they can get.

  9. Hawaiian Buc Says:

We’ve had almost perfect attendance at OTA’s since the Raheem Morris regime. How exactly has that worked out for us? Maybe being away from One Buc Place is the secret to success???

  10. Lord Corn Says:

Per NFL network Bruce Arians said there’s 6 players he considers once in a generation type talents .. and basically we’d need a lot to trade down much.. wondering who they are

    Q Williams
    N Bosa
    J Allen
    E Oliver
    D White

  11. German Buc Says:

That’s just a nice way to punt a question you won’t answer, Joe.

  12. BucEmUp Says:

Ummm….maybe their girlfriends/wives are having complications? C’mon dude get wit it

  13. Buccaneer Bonzai Says:

I’m just guessing here, but could it before that the vets are not showing because this OTA is much earlier than usual, and is shortening time with families?

  14. Todd Says:

Hey, a little respect in here guys. Please.

When you are young and trying to have a child, a miscarriage is a “problem pregnancy.” You do not have to be “showing” to be pregnant…some women don’t show until their fifth month.

So imagine, you finally get pregnant with the love of your life and (let’s say it’s the third month) you miscarry.

It’s devastating. Emotionally for sure. Physically sometimes. The fact the men shared with their new coach and he excused them just wreaks of STRONG CHARACTER.

So have a little class…which I know for many of you is a big reach.

Let them mourn the loss of their child.
