Kwon Gone?

March 11th, 2019

Saying goodbye?

If this is true, it appears Bucs middle linebacker Kwon Alexander will be wearing a different uniform this season.

Per Mike Garafolo of NFL Network, Alexander has texted various Bucs teammates all but saying it’s been real. In other words, Alexander is telling his Bucs teammates he won’t play in Tampa unless it is a road game.

Now right off the bat, Joe is smelling oily Drew Rosenhaus all over the place. Joe asks you, what kind of a desperate team will be signing a middle linebacker at that price who called the plays for a defense that was one of the worst defenses a sober fan has ever laid eyes on?

And the icing on the cake here is Alexander is coming off major knee surgery and he’s going to get in excess of $10 million a year? After “leading” the worst defense in NFL history (until he was hurt)?

Man, Rosenhaus is earning his keep if he pulls this off. Notice the only people reporting this are from BSPN and NFL Network? That should be all you need to know. Rosenhaus wants this out there for mass consumption (and influential, heavy-hitter suits with various NFL teams) and isn’t interested in nickel-and-dime local beat guys who have a fraction of the audience.

Hopefully it’s true. The Bucs need to get younger, stronger, bigger, faster, and healthier at that position.

  2. Aaron Says:

I don’t believe it, but it only takes 1 team.

Good for him and his family. #getthebag

    Go Bucs!

  3. Loyaltotheend Says:

Defense didn’t miss him and neither will knowledgeable fans. If he can get over 10 million a year for bad tackling, not shedding blocks, bad pass defense and being hurt in 3 of 4 years good for him

Just watch what supplements you take…

  4. AwShbucs Says:

Holy mother of over paying for a slightly above average player. Goodbye Kwon hello Devin White.

  5. Dewey Selmon Says:

Best of luck to you Kwon. To much money for a guy 1 failed piss test from missing a year.

  6. Buccaneer Bonzai Says:

I love Kwon and GMC…but I would take Hump over both of them in a heartbeat.

  7. Not there yet Says:

They sure are doing what they can to angle for the big payday and for some reason he is afraid of the one year prove it contract after major surgery. Family my arse, it’s always about the money. Hope the fans didn’t think family word meant there was a team full of cam brates. Funny how the guys who wanted to be here got a deal done without much fuss including D. Smith but apparently hump and Kwon’s idol is Bradley mcdougald

  8. Tampabaybucfan Says:

We will have many options to replace him for less than $10 mil…..

  9. Bruce Blahak Says:

Teams are in a nickel defense most of the time now. Linebacker becoming less important in the passing world. Spend it on pass rush and DB coverage…

That is about the dumbest thing you could say. The reason he got suspended was because he drank Red Bull during training camp. It;s not like he popped pills or took steroid shots.

You Fairweather fans never have your facts straight.

  11. Siege the Bay Says:

If he stayed healthy it would’ve been a no brainer. I would like for us to secure CJ Mosely before we part ways with Kwon. I’d rather an DE,DL, or CB in the first round.

  12. SnookTB Says:

Don’t let the door hit you on the way out.

    Thank God.

Between Kwon, Lavonte and #93, we’ve got so much loser dead weight on this defense.

  13. miken Says:

can’t pay kwon that type of money

  14. Carrollwood Buc Fan Says:

If this is true, then we should be all in on CJ Mosley (we should be anyway). I am a GMC fan, but we should trade/cut him, sign Mosley, and then go DE in the first and DT in the second. Then take the $10 mill from DJax for a DB and some depth/role players. We should also restructure Brate’s $7mill contract to save some more cash.

  15. Buc4evr Says:

Good. now let’s get a smarter, stronger, faster LB with no injuries.

  16. What the buc Says:

I’m happy for Kwon. He’s a good teammate. However, he’s not worth 12 million.

  17. TheBucsAnthem Says:

    Ummmmmmmmm………….KWON LISTEN UP!!!!!!!!

You ain’t bobby wagner or Luke Kuechly money……NO WAY!!!!!

    You a 9 mil a year guy………that’s it

  18. StoutGospel Says:

    Heyyyy…

Let’s ALL give @Joe a massive round of applause!! @Joe has finally identified someone credible at the NFL Network/NFL Media. For a solid story. Yay!

(Although Rosenthal and Pelissero are rarely used here–also credible there).

But hey, YAY! Well done @Joe’s! “But Rapaport (sorry Slapaport) is the TOP reporter there”. Lol.

Rosenhaus is indeed earning his keep.

    Go Bucs! Land Quinnen!

  19. D-Rome Says:

The reason he got suspended was because he drank Red Bull during training camp. It;s not like he popped pills or took steroid shots.

Red Bull or its ingredients are not on the NFL banned substance list.

  20. stpetebucsfan Says:

    Agree with AWshucks.

Hello Devin White. He’s 15 lbs heavier, almost a half second faster in the 40, and stronger and more athletic. I like Kwon but White is a serious upgrade…if not White there a couple of other LB’s that we may snag in 2nd if we don’t sign Mosely.

And as much as we love guys like Kwon and GMC the defense simply didn’t perform last year. There needs to be some serious changes made and that includes some of our favorite guys.

  21. Bucsdelight Says:

49ers and Jets seem to be the two.

  22. Joe Says:

49ers and Jets seem to be the two.

Lynch has lost his damn mind if this isn’t Rosenhaus bluffing.

  23. pelbuc Says:

Adios Kwon, Thanks for anchoring one of the worst defenses in history!

  24. Joeypoppems Says:

Good for him if he can get that much money. If thats the market for LBs then better start saving up for a Devin White jersey lol

  25. Not there yet Says:

there are better ways to go about fixing the redhead look Kwon unless your signing with KC or San Fran

  26. Bucsfanman Says:

His “production” can easily be replaced.
Good for Kwon if he can get that money.

  27. Rob Says:

Bucs cannot match that type of offer (12-13 million per year). Terrible timing for Kwon getting injured but as much as I like him, you can’t gamble his knee is going to be back to normal or close to it, not with that type of money. Uninjured, yes. Go Bucs!

  28. Jeebs Says:

This guy is worth maximum $8mil a year, and that’s if healthy. As Joe has repeatedly said, great intangibles, poor production. I could see him improving under Bowles, but not worth paying big money to “potential” coming off an ACL injury. Hard pass. Now cut/trade DJax and get Mosley in the door!

  29. NPRSageBoy Says:

The stench of the defenses that featured Kwon can be smelt in Weeki Wachee. Even Kwons dance moves aren’t worth $10M. Winters in NYC can be brutal. Enjoy them Kwon

  30. Bucsdelight Says:

    Yeah Joe,

I don’t know what Lynch is thinking, but Niners Nation was reporting on it an hour ago. Jets Wire was reporting they were interested in Kwon and Adam H.

  31. Jamaal Stanley Says:

Say it again, this time wit ya chest! HELLO DEVIN WHITE!!!

  32. GhostofSchiano Says:

joe says – what kind of a desperate team will be signing a middle linebacker at that price who called the plays for a defense that was one of the worst defenses a sober fan has ever laid eyes on?

This fan was at home under the heavy influence of an adult beverage and I still saw the same $hitty defense. So drunk or sober they look terrible.

  33. Nick2 Says:

Kwan is another “great” player on a terrible defense I would be very leary about resigning anyone except JPP when its time on this current defense. We just sucked too bad.

  34. Bird Says:

Whatever new team gets him just do play action …

    He’ll bite every time

12 mil is crazy. He doesn’t come across as guy who would do a maneuver (his agent tells him to do) to get more interest.
Some teams have 100 mil to spend. Maybe the jets. 49ers have a ton of money too. Still good for him. Bad for that team

  35. Jonathan Lipnicki Says:

Bucs dodge a bullet if the asking price ends up being anything near that…

  36. Issaic haggins Says:

Kwon best most instinctive plays were his first two years and has steadily lost that and become more of a mechanical / guess type player and looks if anything , slower. I don’t think he has put on a pound and would be surprised if he is 220 and I don’t think he sheds blocks or anticipates as well as Mark Barron .

Undersized good player but will be cut from new team by year 3 because he’s not elite but big Drew will get him some Money 💰!!!

  37. Cobraboy Says:

Kwon is worth a guaranteed $12 million multi-year contract.

A dollar a year for 12 million years.

  38. Stu Says:

Compensatory pick here come the Bucs, 🙏

  39. Loyaltotheend Says:

    Bonzai

If you believe he got suspended for drinking a Red Bull

Then you also believe that Dominik was a good GM and Jameis is a franchise Qb

  40. Alaskan Abdominal Snowman Says:

Man I will miss ya Kwon. That game after your brother passed was inspirational and one of my favorite Buc memories. Also, when you blasted McCown in preseason after he stunk it up the year before, priceless.
I’m sad you won’t be on this team but happy for you and your family to be able to be financially set for life. Congrats LiTiRilla.

  41. Easy Says:

4 year 54 million deal in SF. Wasn’t worth that here.

  42. DBS Says:

    Lynch HAS lost his mind.
