“I’ll Be Unguardable”

January 2nd, 2019

Mike Evans, at 25 years old, has five NFL seasons in the books and is the franchise leader in receiving yards with a shiny new single-season Bucs record for reception yards.

He hasn’t just raised the bar on Bucs receivers, he’s done it for himself.

After Sunday’s game, Joe had a private chat with Evans about breaking Calvin Johnson’s single-season record of 1,964 yards. Evans would love to be the first to crack the 2,000 mark.

Evans thinks he knows what will get him there: better route running. That will be a focus of his this offseason and he says he’s looking forward to it.

“With better route-running, I’ll be unguardable,” Evans said.

Interestingly, in early October, Evans told Joe he’d be interested in hiring a track coach in order to explore training with offseason track workouts like DeSean Jackson does. Evans wasn’t going there on Sunday.

What a stud player Evans is.

And some people think the Bucs’ head coaching job is unattractive — in a passing league. Just look at all the pass-catching talent on the roster.

“And some people think the Bucs’ head coaching job is unattractive.” – So I was randomly watching a Chiefs/Broncos monday night game from like 94. Elways vs Montana. Camera was shaking because the STADIUM was shaking. Fans spazzing out the entire game. Just an unbelievable atmosphere. I think a broader issue is that we are kind of a wasteland sports town. There is no history, not much of an allure. We never sell out. Ever. Oh and saying that “well if we start winning then people will come” is a complete cop out. Absolute cop out. Den of Depression is apropos because the Bucs are 32nd out of 32 teams in terms of sheer atmosphere. I was reading an article on another site, talking about coaching candidates for all the teams with coaching vacancies and when they got to the bucs, the comment was simply:”who cares, they should be contracted anyway.” This pretty much sums out our complete irrelevance and its a sad state of affairs. You have to be able to accept the baggage and take all of that stuff on – and if you’re a big name coach with options, then no – Tampa is not the first choice

better route running….a run game….and not extending his arms will make him unguardable…..

    #REALISTKNOWSNOTHING!!!!!!….#ADIOSDIRK!!!!…GO BUCS!!!!!

We have some clueless weak minded fans as well. The notion that this job isn’t attractive is stupid unless your from out of town. Think the next coach will care the stadium didn’t sell out for someone else. Tony Dungy and Gruden didn’t have that problem!!! This isn’t a big market so obviously if the New York job is open it’s more to it but there are only 32 of these jobs stop saying it’s not attractive that’s just dumb. It’s more about the assembled talent and cap situation than anything else. Who cares what someone who doesn’t actually coach thinks about what jobs are most attractive

What a stud player Evans is.

    Thanks Lovie!

    Right, Joe?

  6. Joe Says:

    D-Rome:

So we should build a statue of Lovie because he drafted Mike Evans? Right next to the statue of Mark Dominik for drafting Lavonte David? C’mon, you’re better than that.

  7. Mike Says:

Robert, He’s not that good? Any reasonable football fan should see otherwise

  8. DB55 Says:

    Any film junkies out there?

I love mike Evans but correct me if I’m wrong. In the 3rd qrt at 8:10 mark Evams had a 33 yard catch that imo he could have taken to the house but instead ran out of bounds. He split the defenders and was a stiff arm away from scoring.

Has the chatter of gotten so bad that Mike is worried about destroying defenders on the field? I need angry Mike back, like the guy who body slammed Terrance Newman. Where you at Mike? Come back please!

  9. Cgmaster27v Says:

Robert you’re dumb as hell with a comment like that. But most of what you spew is so nothing new here.

  10. 813bucboi Says:

have any of dirks draft picks made the PB?…..

but some how the person who drafted winston, mike evans and kwon is “inept”…lol….

inept would be going 5-11 back to back years after going 9-7…..and thats after adding more talent….lol….

dirk set this team back 2years by his lack of player development(name a player that isnt a pass catcher that has developed)

    #REALISTKNOWSNOTHING!!!!!!….#ADIOSDIRK!!!!…GO BUCS!!!!!

lol YOU’RE not that good. Just an annoying troll.

  12. Robert Says:

I know you ladies are simple, but dang man.

no worries though. the fact that the bucs have made keeping jamis the crabman qb and handcuffed the coaching search is further proof I shouldn’t even bother and I’m sure many other fans feel the same.

hell 1/2 the stuff joe posts is wrong and flat out click bat, although I love his work ethic. the team is a joke, but the owners are as well. but dang, hanging your hat on a criminal based on money, only a few types of people would do that.

  13. unbelievable Says:

    Agreed DB.

    That body slam was epic!

  14. ManzielMadness Says:

Lol are we really gonna argue about who sucked more as HC?

    Lovie – 8 wins/2 seasons
    Dirk – 19 wins/3 seasons

Doesn’t help that the talent on this team has been wayyyy misjudged. Hopefully the next HC will Garner better results.

Dude is a stud and on a f**king war path.

Keep it up Mike, you’re on your way to becoming a legend.

    Evans
    Godwin
    Hump
    Watson

I like the looks of the WR group for 2019.

Fix this weak offensive line play and get a running game and there’s no reason the offense shouldn’t be great next year. Especially if Calm Stoic Jameis comes back the way he was playing the last few games.

Simple? No. – You are just a f’ing troll.

  17. Topcoach1978 Says:

He is a good receiver but he has to stop that nasty habit of extending his arm and that slight shove he does he is being targeted for that and they’re gonna call it most times and cut down on the drops!

  18. Thisisagarbageblog Says:

Robert, how does your comment relate with reality? Spoken like someone making eight dollars an hour because someone voted republican.

  19. mark2011 Says:

    Great player… Bucs receivers..GOAT.

Thisisagarbageblog – Take that political garbage back to your liberal lefty friends. In case you haven’t noticed Unemployment is at a record low. Businesses can’t find enough workers, so wages are rising. It sure wasn’t your political team the created this. Take an economic 101 & 102 course and open you eyes on what works. Or read Adam Smith, the Father of modern economics.

  21. bucs4ya Says:

@DB55 it wasn’t just that game he has a tendency to do that. Don’t get me wrong I love Mike but he’d be unstoppable if he stopped begging for a flag and added a bit of Deandre Hopkins to his game. By that I mean play angry lay out for balls and try to score when the ball is in his hands.
