Cardinals cornerback Patrick Peterson talks Bruce Arians

After practicing at his eighth consecutive Pro Bowl yesterday at Disney World, cornerback Patrick Peterson was talking about his former coach Bucco Bruce Arians.

And some of it was nonsense.

First, Peterson was asked for a good Arians story. He said there are so many and then rolled into talking about how Arians preaches that good football teams don’t lose twice in a row and teams are only as strong as their locker room leadership — meaning proper leadership strength won’t permit consecutive losses.

And he added that the Cardinals under Arians only lost once back-to-back.

Losing only once back-to-back? Joe wasn’t buying that on face value. And it turns out Arians’ Cardinals actually lost back-to-back games seven times in five years, but never losing three in a row in any regular season.

Joe asked Peterson to explain how Arians’ presence is felt among defensive players.

“On the defensive side of the ball, he got one of the best in the game [in Todd Bowles],” Peterson said. “He won’t have much of an influence. Obviously, [Arians] coaches the team so he’s going to get Coach Bowles to run certain plays, but for the most part, Coach Bowles is going to run the show. Coach Bowles did a great job in Arizona with us, did a great job in New York as well. Coach Bowles knows what a championship-caliber defense is supposed to look like. So BA definitely trusts in his guys and he gonna let Bowles do what he do.”

Overall, Peterson expressed a ton of confidence in Arians and was eager to talk about him. Don’t get any ideas, though, Peterson has two years remaining on his Cardinals contract, and he was very happy yesterday to learn Larry Fitzgerald will return for his 16th season in the desert.

    Bucs hired Koetter 2.0

Arians is hands off when it comes to the defense
Isn’t attending the Senior Bowl to scout players up close
And he’s a QB whisperer who is not going to call plays
He’s employing all his friends and former players not the best coaches available

Licht has screwed this franchise again

McCoy and Jamie’s are WEAK leaders

May god have mercy on us

    Yea, you’re right Loyaltotheend.

Arians = 2x AP head coach of the year 2x super bowl champion 64% winning percentage in NFL

Koetter = 2x Big West Champion 39% winning percentage in NFL

    Yea, same guy for sure

    Jeez. Talk about stinkin’ thinkin’!

We just picked up arguably the best coach available who is bringing a set of ADULTS who are best of class…and you toss out ignorant negative speak like this before a single practice snap?!

Note to self, “Ignore this rain clouds opinion from here on out…because he is obviously smarter and more experienced than Bruce Arians, Todd Bowles and Patrick Peterson combined.”

    Unbelievable.

He was asking for a trade in 2018, Joe. Even though it would be amazing if we got him, we could lock up two good position players with all that money plus interest. We need a good vet RT in FA.

  8. Larry Says:

We finally have something good to think about, months before the season begins and up pops up a dude wh wants to rain on our parade! Loyaltotheend, who are you loyal to anyways?

  9. Ndog Says:

Is it just me or is Bucs fan #7423 obsessed with Jameis?

He literally brings him up in every comment section even if it has nothing to do with him, or even offense atcall

  10. Bird Says:

    Ndog

    That’s hilarious
You are the most obsessed Jameis poster in here. Crazy obsessive to the point it’s a little creepy.

    I mean hello kettle

    @LoyalToTheEnd – Bucs hired Koetter 2.0

Mike Smith and Todd Bowles are two different coaches. Smith’s defense was predictable and when it failed he never changed his scheme. Although Bowles likes to run a 3-4, he is more than willing to change depending on the talent and player’s strength.

  12. Loyaltotheend Says:

I’d be more confident in Arians if he was calling his own plays like he was in prior stops he was successful

He was able to develop other QBs as a coordinator and working directly with them much different when you are the HC and delegating responsibilities to others

  13. Duthsty Rhothdes Says:

BA is Sam Wyche 2.0…except Sam Wyche led his team to the super bowl and should have won…EXCEPT for that dastardly Joe Montana

  14. Loyaltotheend Says:

Bowles is the only hire I’m excited for

Finally an aggressive attacking style of d

Right on, regarding creepy Jameis love and Ndog.

  18. ndog Says:

You stand corrected again gentlemen, I rarely bring him up, but yes I do defend him against complete idiotic statements that are mad. But I do not usually brings him up, but you better believe I am going to call people out when they are full of it.

Defending the truth and bringing someone up are two very different things.

I feel sorry for you, your the most annoying depressing bucs fan I’ve ever saw post on this site and it’s not even close. Get a life my friend it’s January and BA has done nothing but an introductory press conference. You need a lifetime supply of tums and Xanax or it really is crack and there’s nothing we can do for you

Being a Bucs fan is a lifestyle, not a hobby

My comments were perfectly justified and can be backed up by proven facts

Jamies and McCoy are WEAK leaders!!!!

“good football teams don’t lose twice in a row and teams are only as strong as their locker room leadership — meaning proper leadership strength won’t permit consecutive losses” – Bruce Arians
