NFC South Demise Looks Bad For Koetter

December 9th, 2018

“I might not be the one firing you this time, Ron.”

Joe never would have believed that the Panthers, Falcons and Bucs would all have losing records with three games to play this season.

The heralded NFC South, lauded as the toughest division in football entering this season and by many after September and October, has fallen apart.

And the Bucs are still sitting in third place at 5-8.

The Falcons lost today to a previously stumbling Packers team, and the Panthers fell to the Browns on a fourth-quarter comeback.

At this point, Joe would put the AFC South ahead of the NFC South.

That further adds up to bad look for thin-ice Bucs head coach Dirk Koetter, who really can’t bring the tough-schedule argument to the table with Team Glazer — if he’s even invited to the conference room.

On the upside, the demise of the NFC South outside of New Orleans lets Joe know just how close the Bucs could be in the NFC with a few new pieces and an effective culture change.

    Exactly……

Joe(s), I actually am optimistic that the Bucs can be turned around pretty quickly with the right head coach. I do. We’ve seen what a difference a change in coaching can bring with Duffner. There is talent in spades on both sides of the ball. I think a new head coach, a new system, a new philosophy, and a few key player additions from the draft/free agency can get the Bucs some respect.

Just shows you how bad our coaches really are. Another wasted year.

Clean house…. everything and everyone must go from owners to janitors

First half we looked like pros, second half we looked like the joes.
I don’t think anyone expected us to beat the Saints but it was well within a possibility. Still have to play two teams playing very well, the Cowgirls and the Ravens.
I am pretty much done with Dirk, I feel like he has failed in way too many areas to be forgiven but I know Glazers will still consider keeping him if he wins out. I don’t know if that is a good thing….
Everyone had their hand in this loss, it was a true team loss… including coaching playing a factor, Dirk and Monk took their foot off the petal and tried to rely on a futile running game.

  6. Alaskan Abdominal Snowman Says:

There are enough pieces here to win and if you throw in OJ the freak Howard, this offense has what it needs, except for a running back and a lineman or three.

  7. AlteredEgo Says:

Good luck bringing in a good coach wit Jamyth mandated as his starting QB….

Koetter and our Lite GM are truly out of excuses. At least Jason shouldn’t have to wreck any more suits jumping in his pool after wins.

  9. NPRSageBoy Says:

And if Riverboat Ron Rivera gets fired on Black Today, the Joe’s will endorse his hire here because he stuck with Cam Newton unconditionally.
After today’s performance by JayMiss, how can anyone condone this nonsense?

  10. Alaskan Abdominal Snowman Says:

Jameis didn’t win this game NPR but he definitely didn’t lose it either.
You should cover up, your bias is showing.

The Chargers were losing close game after close game after close game a couple of years ago and people said it was all on Rivers, he couldn’t get it done (despite the fact it was nearly always the defense that giving up those late scores and costing them the game). Anywho they finally fired their HC and shocking, they had a massive turnaround. They still throw it deep and are aggressive on offense, but the culture change resulted in a huge and quick turnaround after they dumped their HC who just wasn’t HC material.

For the Bucs, in my dream scenario, they’d make a hard play for Tomlin after he loses in the 2nd round of the playoffs again and the Steelers fans are up in arms. Make it a Tomlin+Bell twofer and give up a 1st and a 2nd or what they need to in order to change things up. Yeah, it won’t happen, but I’d make that deal in a second. Would you give up Vita and Ronald Jones for Tomlin and Bell? Ah, yes, I would. Give him a 10-year deal like Gruden got as well so we don’t have to worry about a coach for a decade. Yeah it won’t happen, but that’s my top choice.

Next up is Harbaugh, keep Monken in place and let him fix the defense and special teams. The Ravens blew the lead in KC today and I think it’s unlikely they make the playoffs, so he might just end up being available.

Fun fact, since Winston has come back in the Giants game he’s thrown for 973 yards, 8 TDs, 2 INTs (both on a hail mary play, so really it’s 8-0), and is 2-1 in that span and outscored opponents 93-54.

  13. TheBucsAnthem Says:

I bet if we had owners who gave a crap about the team we wouldn’t have been in the basement since the superbowl……….

the bucs are the Browns south

  14. Not there yet Says:

Wrong again lol why do people say every year this will be a better team if we get better players? We aren’t the only ones who will be players in free agency and drafting new ones. We know the falcons bad season is due to losing a bunch of starters on defense, they’ll get them all back and have a high draft pick. Koetter is trash and this was his one and only chance to do something with two other teams having a down year. He’s done or least he better be because there’s no reason I’d take this team seriously with him as coach I don’t care what players we add

  15. Ed Says:

It’s too easy to pick on Winston as he handles the ball on every play for the offense except kicks. He didn’t lose the game today, it was a team effort, horrible running game, poor pass protection, penalties that created bad field position and some drops. Jameis is expected to lead his team to wins in meaningful games like today and after 4 years there’s been not enough of that.

When you add in the coaching not adjusting to games flow, not motivating young players to step up their game and even doing anything to deviate from their tendencies which was so apparent with the failed Mike Smith defensive units.

No I wouldn’t pin today’s loss on Winston but if anyone thinks his passing was good today, rewatch the game and look at all of the throws that were uncatchable.

  16. Alvin Scissors Harper Says:

Munch, you didn’t just compare Philip Rivers to Jay Miss, did you? There is absolutely no comparison. I kind of like your idea of Tomlin for our next coach. However, Bell is too old!

  17. Batman Wood Says:

Didn’t see too many open receivers either. Godwin couldn’t separate from his mother today. Maybe he’s hurting, but he just looked slow. Would have been better off with Watson in there. Just about every throw was contested. One of the few catches he made he fumbled. He never got open deep. Very disappointing game for Godwin.

Two of those teams suck and he was shut out today in the 2nd half. Dave Moore said he was confused out there today.

Rod, put the Jameis doll down for 2 minutes and go take a shower or seek help.

  19. Bucs 14 Says:

Tampa Bay Browns. I guess we look forward now to seeing us lose out the season and start talking draft and coaching/GM candidates, even though we all know the Glazers will phukk that up their ignorance about football.

  20. TOM Says:

RyJo You said there was talent in spades. What exactly did that mean? Oh by the way the Bucs are not the Browns of the south the Bengals are.
