Jason Licht Enters Mark Dominik Country

December 23rd, 2018

The unthinkable is reality.

After five seasons, Bucs general manager Jason Licht cannot surpass the won-loss record of his predecessor.

It’s a travesty, a full decade of collectively deplorable football for Bucs fans.

Former rock star general manager Mark Dominik was 28-52 in his tenure (2009-2013). Licht needs a win next week just to match that mess.

There are lots of ways to evaluate general managers, but there aren’t lots of ways to excuse winning just 35 percent of your games.

How does Licht justify any of this without throwing Dirk Koetter under the bus? That might be Licht’s next challenge to save his job.

Licht’s biggest fail? That’s so hard to pick, unfortunately. After this month, it sure feels like it’s the offensive line.

    Tell us something………

HOW THE F DOES ROJO not even get on the field??????

  2. D-Rome Says:

He should be the first one to go. He’s one of the worst general managers in the NFL. I don’t want to hear this nonsense from the mouth-breathers that he’s brought in a bunch of talent. This team’s talent is not better than most other teams talent and his record speaks for itself.

    No mulligans for Licht.

  3. AlteredEgo Says:

Patience Coach Hoppers….L&K&Jameis will return….a year from now after Jameis’s 5th year we’ll know for certain….
    Another draft and FA class

  4. ShutTheBucUp Says:

Drafting a kicker and a rb in the 2nd rs and neither of them working, really set the bucs back years

  5. Jonathan Lipnicki Says:

    Licht’s Out…

  6. Tampabaybucfan Says:

Bring in Dominick and let them have a “lose-off” next year.

  7. ShutTheBucUp Says:

Altered Ego are you serious? Another year, another draft, another coach, another system…. come on man. It’s year 4 stop making excuses for these guys.

  8. Alaskan Abdominal Snowman Says:

Altered you lost your dang mind. Dirk is a dead man walking. Licht is currently on the plank staring at the sharks swirling.

  9. Petty Officer Buc Says:

Stop me if you heard this one before:

The Bucs need to address Cornerback and Running Back in the offseason

  10. JimmyJack Says:

Alted this has nothing to with patience. Show me results. No, you can’t.

  11. TheBucsAnthem Says:

    @ AlteredEgo

That’s the problem………..this franchise cannot afford another wasted draft and another year with Jameis trying to prove he’s a franchise QB when he’s had four years to do so

no so smart if you ask me to retain everyone including a failed No#1 Overall draft pick

  12. firethecannons Says:

    Anthem, you stupid fool,
Rojo is not on the field because he is not NFL material Have you not been watching any previous game–he is a guaranteed loss of yards Go away you idiot

  13. Bucs Fan #7423 Says:

    Fire Licht!!!!

  14. King C Says:

Remember that Licht was hired as Lovie’s guy. We got two mistakes for the price of one.

  15. AlteredEgo Says:

You folks are emotional not logical….simply can not bring in a new GM and HC and offensive scheme and expect Jameis to do well….
unless…..Jameis and everything under the G’Boyz goes on Black Monday
It’ll be one more year for L&K&Jameis

  16. Kobe Faker Says:

    “If the Teflon Gump stays…

The next head coach will have to play Gumps players…

So what than has actually changed?”

    Kobe Faker

  17. Tbbucs3 Says:

    WYA Bonzai???

  18. BigMacAttack Says:

I wouldn’t give either one of them another game. I’d fire both as soon as they walk off the plane. I wouldn’t pay Dirk for next season either. I’d tell him to sue me because he didn’t do what he was hired to do.

  19. Issaic haggins Says:

No RoJo is def an NFL talent he just doesn’t fit what Koetter wants. Koetter has had problems developing and run games his entire career

  20. Tbbucs3 Says:

The Glaziers should line up every coach and front office member in the halls at One Buc Place and anybody who has Lovie Smiths fingerprints on them deserves to be fired. Mr Clean One Buc Place from Lovie. Starts with Licht!!!

  21. BrianBucs Says:

Licht’s biggest mistake was squandering the #1 overall pick in the draft on America’s Crotchgrabber And Liar J-Miss Winston.

  22. LakeLand Says:

    The Bucs fired Lovie Smith

But kept a lot of his hires

I said they should have cleaned house when they fired Lovie
But they decided to clean a clean a few rooms
And for the past three seasons, the house still have Lovie stench

  23. D-Rome Says:

BrianBucs, no matter what happens with this coaching staff, front office, or Jameis Winston, drafting him was the right decision.

Mariota is a worse QB and the Bucs didn’t tank in 2014 to draft an O-Lineman to stick with Glennon or McCown.

Drafting Winston didn’t work out, but it will always be the right decision.

  24. BucEmUp Says:

Licht has never brought in his own guy. How can you look at his record when he has never hand picked his own head coach. Lovie hired Licht and Koetter, then Koetter was pretty much the consensus pick. His players have been poorly developed by both of these coaching staffs. I don’t care if they clean house buy id like to see Licht stick around and bring in his guy….its only fair

  25. Destinjohnny Says:

    We have 6-10 talent
Dirk might win 6 is seems
    Good job dirk!
    Now Jason………..

  26. Jwags Says:

Licht biggest fail is a very easy call…drafting Jameis Winston!

  27. Frank Pillow Says:

I think at this point the whole thing needs to be blown to smithereens, but there’s no denying that Vea looked like an NFL caliber D-lineman today- one who is one the rise. There are flashes all along the D with the youngsters. The O is loaded with skill position talent and the OL, is at least middle of the pack. That’s all to say that in spite of the many misses and flubs on the personnel side, a legitimate coaching staff should be able to squeeze out a minimum of 8 wins with the guys who were out there today.

With that, let me say the Duffner has done a marvelous job with the D. Take a bow coach b/c you made chicken salad out of chicken droppings. Smitty was a glorified PE coach by comparison.

  28. T REX Says:

Bad bad football. Bad GM. Bad coach. Bad QB. Bad owners.

  29. 37Champs Says:

Ronald Jones is NOT a NFL RB, period. THAT is why he gets no playing time.

  30. Pelbuc Says:

At this point they might as well relocate to spare Tampa more shame!

  31. Buc4evr Says:

Licht is toast. He can’t survive his stupid draft picks in the last two years. Is it too hard to ask for a GM with some common sense. The guy is even a bigger bone head than Winston. If any fan on this board drafted players the last two years there is no way anyone could have done worse then Jason Gump.

  32. Willy D Buc Says:

New GM and O-line/rushing scheme coach – problems solved.

  33. SOEbuc Says:

Licht has a very good chance of staying. Unless they are going to bring in a big vet coach that will only work for full control and bring in his own people. RoJo didn’t have the rookie year we ALL THOUGHT he was going to have. Yes, the Agauyo pick was AWFUL. But he’s also got us plenty of great talent that just hasn’t been coached correctly.

  34. Gruden4President Says:

I have 2 agree with. @BucEmUp. I think Lichts drafts would look better if they had good coaches coaching them up. Our best coaches are our Dline coach amd our lb’s coach who is now our D coord. Our strengths lately have been our Dline amd Lb’s as every other position is regressing. Let Licht hire his guy. A real HC with a good staff and lets see how we do.

  35. Troy Says:

If this guy stays in the building for next year, it’ll prove that the Glazers don’t want to win. If you want to get that smell out of the building, you have to clean out ALL of the trash, not just the coach.

  36. Tom S. Says:

Wait, so Joe is finally aware that Jason Licht’s been a failure as a GM? Hey at least it’s roughly 5 years sooner than whenever they realize Dominik sucked. I’m still waiting on the “Rock Star” mea culpa.

Failures: Aguay-oh-no, ASJackwagon, Ghost Johnson, Sackless George Johnson, Anthony Johnson, Floppy Hat Sweezy, Dancin’ Charles Sims, Brindza, Folk, Cantanzaro, Swaggy Baker, Doug Martin too long, Vincent Jackson too long, Brent Grimes too long, VHIII, Noah Spence, Ryan Smith, RoJo, TJ Ward, Vinny Curry, Mitch Unrein, MJ Stewart, Caleb Benenoch, Ryan Jensen.

I’m sure I’m missing some but yeah other than that and all the losing Licht’s been great!

  37. Ronteco Says:

Tom S….thanks for typing all that because that’s exactly what I was going to mention. All those second round picks he completely screwed up on is what really bugs me. Not one of them planned out. He’s gotta go.
