Buccaneers Officially Finish Last In The NFC South

December 30th, 2018

Fueling the lost generation of Bucs fans

Greg Schiano did it twice, and so did Lovie Smith and Raheem Morris.

Now Dirk Koetter joins the club of coaches who are heavenly invested in the Tampa Bay resort known as Buccaneer Cove, aka last place in the NFC South.

No matter what the result was today against the Falcons, the Bucs locked up last place before the game ended as the Panthers (7-9) blew out the Saints in New Orleans.

Yet another last place crown is just another embarrassment on the crap-fudge sundae that was this Tampa Bay season.

The saddest part of this, Joe believes, is that there truly is a lost generation of Bucs fans.

Imagine being born in, say 2000, and starting to follow the Bucs closely at 8 years old. Well, you watched Chucky go 9-7 and get fired. And then what? Eight out of 10 years of anguish and, hopefully, a lot of mental health counseling.

Please fix this, Team Glazer!

    GREAT JOB KOETTER

…….now we have a high draft pick

  3. richardtyson Says:

    Good game.

  4. PhillyBuc Says:

    Fire everybody now

  5. Alaskan Abdominal Snowman Says:

Pick #5! #4 if Raiders beat Chiefs.
Glazers, it’s time to carry that big MFn broom into One Buc Place!!!

  6. D-Rome Says:

With that Matt Bryant FG, Jason Licht’s 5 year record is worse than Mark Dominick’s record. Don’t tell me he deserves another year!

  7. cmurda Says:

Giants just leapfrogged us by blowing the game against Dallas. 4th and 15 and they give up the TD and 2 pt coversion. Now, that was a tank job.

  8. Rick Says:

    All will be back.

  9. Bird Says:

    Thank god

Yes I am a loser and want top 5 Eat me

Koeter is gone. Got an inside guy that says gonzo

  10. Troy Says:

Koetter f*cking sucks. He cannot be fired fast enough. I wouldn’t even let him leave the field without knowing that he sucks and is fired.

  11. cmurda Says:

Alaskan, are you factoring in the Giants losing. Don’t they pick ahead of us?

  12. Bucs 14 Says:

Losing franchise, losing HC, losing GM, losing QB (not a franchise no matter how well he played today), losing culture, losing players. Another year of year of mediocre Buc’s football.

  13. MadMax Says:

And here come the meltdowns from those who were wanting the win today….now you see why those of us were wanting a loss for a higher draft pick.

Hey, they came out firing on all cylinders, then failed to close it out in the 2nd half…..and how many times have we seen this?

There, now you know! Look at the big picture! It was a meaningless game, and they played hard. Be happy about that. I aint gonna make fun of you guys and call you names because in the end we’re all fans 🙂

  14. WalkdaPlank Says:

Joe and others were rooting for a loss anyway so who cares?

We’re provably going to pick a scrub in the draft instead of an actual good player (see Velcro vea) and this loss wont matter.

I always want the Bucs to win.

  15. Kalind Says:

Best possible outcome. Core played well, and still lost. Secure that pick

  16. Alaskan Abdominal Snowman Says:

    Cliffs- yes

  17. Swanee22 Says:

Congratulations they did something right. Secured that top 5 draft pick .. nothing wrong with a loss in a scrimmage game. Most of these players will not return for 2019 under a new head coach.

  18. D-Rome Says:

WalkdaPlank, I was rooting for them to win.

  19. NPRSageBoy Says:

Fire these clowns already and let’s start over. It can’t possibly be any worse.

  20. BucfaninMi Says:

If you root for a loss, you suck

  21. Bucs 14 Says:

Let this sink in….WE HAVE A WORSE RECORD THAN THE BROWNS! We are the Tampa Bay Browns.

  22. Pete I Says:

    Dirk = 19–29
    Licht = 27-53
    Winston = 21-33
    Since Malcolm’s Stroke = 77 – 131

  23. Alaskan Abdominal Snowman Says:

    Lol the doo doo Bucs

  24. Thomas Says:

Whats ironic is that i was indeed born in 2000. Ive been watching since 2010 and follow the bucs religiously, every day. I have never seen a playoff birth, and its like i never will. Ill be a bucs fan till i die, but geez man, would be nice to finally see a respectable franchise to which im not teased by my relatives (All from Pitsburg) for supporting a joke of a franchise.

  25. Vincente Says:

Hey it’s Tampa, it’s what we do around here. We lose!

  26. sandwichman Says:

    @Joes

I hope you and the media and these other crap fans are happy. u got your wish. the bucs lost again and your gonna get your draft pick arsehats. woo-hoo go celebrate with you hating arses. Im gonna go do drugs now while you celebrate u jerks

Ty Pete. Puts into perspective don’t it? Losing culture, losing management, losing coaches, losing players. A 5-11 record. Browns are 7-7-1 atm. We suck.

  28. Mathillas Says:

D-Rome, I would argue that we have a more talented team than any that Mark Dominick ever put together. Coaching has been the nail in the coffin, the turn around in the D is a glaring example of the failure of the leadership of the coaching staff. Licht may be fired, but he is not one of the top 3 or even the top 5 reasons why this team has failed. The last two years our team has had no loss for talent. A few positions are weaker, but which team doesn’t have holes. We have ac coaching staff that fails to compensate for the weaker parts of the team, HELL, the screw up the strong parts of the team.

  29. Knack2Babbyyyy Says:

Americas Quarterback balled out today and put his team in a position to win this game, but his defense let him down once again.

  30. ElioT Says:

    This sucks.

I don’t care who they bring in, it’s going to be hard to get excited next season.

We’ve been abused for so long

  31. Bucs 14 Says:

Browns may be 8-7-1 after today. Baker Mayfield IS a franchise QB. He finds ways to win. Magoo, on the other hand does not (21-30).

  32. Alaskan Abdominal Snowman Says:

I’m just curious how winning would have made us better?
Draft picks are capital and we just got a bonus!
What would a moral victory have done here today?
Oh it would’ve made your day a little better? Then what?

  33. cmurda Says:

Sorry to disrupt all of the whining but I went absurd when the Giants lost. Did I waste energy or do the G Men pick before us now?

  34. JabooBuc Says:

If rumors are true and we trade a pick, especially a first round, for a coach, please do us all a favor and move this team.

  35. sandwichman Says:

They root for this bucs fans. they want the Bucs to lose. dont believe their BS

  36. Bucs fan #7423 Says:

Winning makes us better because yah know…

    WE WON !!!!!!

geez u Bucs fans are idiots

  37. orlbucfan Says:

We ought to take a cosmik broom and sweep away the Glazer Boyz.

  38. JimmyJack Says:

Dirk’s team is a freaking joke. Back to back last place finishes. Back to back losing seasons in division. Can’t win their home games. Top Ten pick last year. Now a top five. We are one of the worst five teams in football.

Dirk has managed this team directly into the ground.

  39. BuccoDav Says:

Interesting… 4 years after Joe lobbied for a “franchise QB”, because we can’t win with the 4th best QB in the division…. we still have the 4th best QB in the division. Should have built the defense!

  40. MadMax Says:

@bucfanibmi, actually i enjoyed seeing the guys play well….in the end it just wasnt good enough, as usual. So secure a higher draft pick and better luck next year….I hope we at least get to the playoffs next year…..those who cant see the bigger picture like you are the ones who suck! You think G Nelson wouldnt have made a huge impact on our O line? thats the difference in losing some spots in draft status after that win against the aints last year…

  41. Mudslide Middleton Says:

Exactly Joe. My sons are 15 and 16. I dreamed of spending Sunday’s with my kids, rooting on the Bucs. This year was the closest we’ve come, after the 2-0 start, they started to get into it, then…. I’m not going to make them sit through this garbage. Enjoy your video games, go hang out with your friends, enjoy life, don’t waste it. I’ll let you know when things turn around.

  42. richardtyson Says:

    @ D-Rome

Licht picked up a team with very little talent on it thanks to Dominic.

  43. Alaskan Abdominal Snowman Says:

Giants beat us head to head soooo ya we get a better pick.

  44. DooshLaRue Says:

    I hate it when I go absurd…..

  45. rrsrq Says:

All it takes is one season, to turn it around. Worse to first is a possibility. We saw improvement in our kicker. We saw improvement in the defense once Smitty walked the plank. Mistakes made: shoulda traded DJax when you had a chance, especially if he was not invested. We know we have players in Vea, Kwon(if he re-signs), OJ, Beck, Hump, Godwin. We do not know what we have in Rojo, Carlton Davis and maybe even Donovan Smith with a new regime.

  46. SteelStudBuc Says:

The Bucs are sooo bad there Superbowl QB went back to being a Vikings fan to blow the horn.

  47. BrianBucs Says:

    Their normal spot

  48. rrsrq Says:

We are not the worst team. Jets are bad, San Fran is not good, Browns are smoke n mirrors, Jags are ehhh,

  49. Loyaltotheend Says:

Loser fanbase got their wish for a high draft pick

  50. Joe In Michigan Says:

I’ve been a Buc fan for 41 years, and still haven’t lost hope. We won a Super Bowl in my lifetime! Here’s to new beginnings and new hope for suffering Bucs fans!

  51. cmurda Says:

    Thanks Alaska

  52. BrianBucs Says:

Hard to win the division when you have the 4th best starting QB in the division

  53. cmurda Says:

Thanks Loyal. Signed, guy from the loser fanbase.

  54. orlbucfan Says:

Whitehead will be a major DB stud like Ronde, Mark Cotney, Mike Washington, John Lynch, etc.

  55. El_Buc941 Says:

Everyone including their grandma knew dominated today. Was a win better for the future?no.a loss?of course.now the question for the next few months is who are we drafting or what position?!

    Hopefully, you aren’t a troll. 🙂

  57. Bucs 14 Says:

What yall gonna do if the Glazers decide to give Koetter another year?

  58. Buc4evr Says:

Clean house tonight. Koetter and Licht should never be allowed back in OBP. Pathetic.

  59. snookman Says:

it was just reported that Koetter has been fired. WFLA 8

  60. Bird Says:

    Joe in Michigan

Heard jim is the splash pick up

  61. Charlie C Says:

Please stop calling this franchise mediocre. This is a losing franchise, not average. I normally don’t care for a president of football operations but it’s obvious the Glazers need help in picking a good coach and GM. Hire a FOOTBALL mind to make the right choice.

  62. Knoxville Bucs Fan Says:

Alright you talk for two weeks about~ tank~tank~tank~ and then here goes the time you start piling on the franchise with your own crap fudge Sunday talk after for weeks pulling for a TANKJOB! But then the Glazers make the announcement no one wants to hear! Myself included!!!! Glazers put Koetter, Jason Licht, and the entire staff on probation. You have until it’s decided who will be in the SUPERBOWL who you want to help right the ship. What key players you want gone so we can spend daddy’s money like it grows on a bumpgrinding Palm Tree. Prove to us you can hire a DEFENSIVE COORDINATOR that will change the face of this defense for years to come. Will that be a TANK decision by ownership or would it be the best decision going forward? I don’t know! Until we find out what they’re gonna do, DILLY DILLY BUC FANS GOBUCS SHE~it

  63. Zwak Says:

Good job, good effort bad coaching! Why did they play prevent defense..

  64. cw_buc_crazy Says:

if one of them is still here next season : JW,JL,DK my season ticket is not going to be renew. you have to draw the line sometime… this is the time.
    PAINFULL season.

  65. Architek Says:

I watched Dallas and Giants and I felt so great watching competency.

Bucs are sh%^ show, Fox didn’t even show the highlights LOL.

    Trash can organization.

  66. Spicoli Says:

With the 5th pick it the draft the Tampa Bay Bucs select…..

  67. Alvin Scissors Harper Says:

Gotta get rid of Dork and Bud Licht. There is no way they stick around. If they do, they have some nasty videos of some Glazer doing something. Jesus! Enough is enough! Get these guys the hell out of here! I wanna roll out of bed tomorrow about 8am and here these two morons are gone!

  68. D-Rome Says:

For the Licht defenders (absurd as that is)….

When he took over the team, the Buccaneers were last in the division. Five years later, they’re last in the division. The team has been last in the division four out of the five years he’s been here.

Being a good GM goes beyond drafting. Most of you blame the coaches (rightfully so), but who hired the head coach? You trust Licht to get it right for next year? I don’t.

His failures are well documented. Five years is long enough.

  69. Destinjohnny Says:

    We underachieved!
I have been saying all year we had 6-10 talent
I still say I am right
    Jason has to go

  70. Bucs fan #7423 Says:

    Bucs fans happy to lose

    Pathetic!!!!

    Glazers know their fan base

  71. Joe In Michigan Says:

orlbucfan: No, not a troll. Looking forward to our hiring, free agency, and the draft. Build from the inside out (get good players in the trenches).

  72. JimmyJack Says:

I’m sorry but Duffner has not be that much of a upgrade. I understand he’s doing a much better job then Smith was doing but use persceptive and realize that Mike Smith was leading us to the worst defense in the history of the NFL.

We cannot judge Duffner by comparing him to Mike Smith. That’s just makes for the lowest standard you could possibly have.

  73. Swanee22 Says:

Sandwichman::: you out of your mind. This game meant nothing as far as the future of this franchise. Super star quarterbacks and high draft picks to become a playoff team. Period. All 12 teams in playoffs have quarterbacks better than TB. All have better GMs … These players drafted in exception to David, Nassib, Humphries, Evans, and our TEs. Are not going to win playoff games… you must have the athletic talent at all positions.. Bucs do not.

  74. ed Says:

Please stop criticizing fans or Joe regarding the won-loss record and the draft position. 4 weeks ago the NFC had so many different wild card team outcomes had the Bucs players and coaches chose not to suck and won some games no one would give a damn about drafts picks, we would be watching the games with a hope of competing for a playoff spot and relevance.

Once those games were lost it doesn’t matter if you win your last game or not. It’s irrelevant at this point, they missed their opportunity.

Looking forward is all that counts. Fan’s shouldn’t be happy over the loss but many of us are happy that there may be a better opportunity for more talent as long as Licht isn’t doing the drafting.

  75. cw_buc_crazy Says:

team Bucs suck in all sectors. terrible leadership (HC and GM). the discipline is the worst in the league. The moral of the team is underground, they quit so easy…. boy o boy this team needs a big shake up. hope the glazers are going to do it. Procrastinate, this is what they did last year, they better learned the lesson.

  76. Wilder32 Says:

    Koetter = Sam Wyche.

    NextBucs coach= Mike Tomlin.

Tomlin has the Bucs roots and Tony Dungy pedigree. Plus he’s fits the “big name” hire the Bucs need to make a splash.

Tomlin can come here with a bubbling talent base in place (much like Dungy had when he took over from Wyche) and make a difference simply by being a better coach and motivator.

Cheer for a Cincinnati or Baltimore win today. Pittsburgh fans are ready for Tomlin to be fired!!!

  77. Jerry Jones Says:

If Glazers keep Koetter I won’t be surprised because Glazers never make splash moves. The last splash hire(daddy)made was Gruden and every coach since Gruden has not been a splash hire so stop with the “GLAZERS LOVE TO MAKE SPLASH MOVES” bullsh!t, it’s not true. If you believe that Morris, Schiano, Smith or Koetter were SPLASH hires, well that just shows the Glazers have groomed you to think like a loser.

  78. JimmyJack Says:

Crazy you are right. This team does have a quitters attitude when they get down in games. That’s why we have fallen apart in quite a few halves of football today.

Today was no different. For 2 quarters of that game Atlanta outscored us 30-3. A TD drive in 40 secs? This is not professional football. Horibley coached team with an inferor mental attitude.

  79. TonyC Says:

If they keep Koetter then we’ve all been duped and are idiots if we keep following this team. I changed my allegiance in 1976 from the KC Chiefs to the Bucs (as a 16 year old). I could certainly change again.

  80. Jimbo Says:

The irony: Bucs get higher draft pick and Licht stays. You can’t make this stuff up.

  81. Jerry Jones Says:

Licht was already extended for 2019 so he was always going to be here unless the Glazers decide to fire him.

  82. Jimbo Says:

Congratulations. You missed my point completely!

  83. Josh Says:

I was born in 2001, to a family of Bucs fans. I didn’t start following the Bucs or anything in the NFL really until 2-3 years ago when they went 9-7. But growing up I remember losing, just constant losing, to where if it was a close game Sunday (I didn’t watch) and my parents would try to talk to me about the game I would shrug it off and say something like “The Bucs wil lose, they always lose.”

I won’t deny that it was the team’s sucess in the 2016 season that drew me to them, and I was uninterested previously because they were terrible when I was growing up. That is the effect of the losing culture.

  84. Gman Says:

So many knuckle dragging chuckleheads in the stands actually rooting for us to win this meaningless game. I am so glad we lost.

  85. Bosch Says:

NOT “please fix this team Glazer”. Please sell this! Please releive the good people of Tampa from your incompetent ownership of a franchise that has our community’s name attached to it.

  86. DBS Says:

And next season you guys will fall for it all over again. This is the SHOW ME TEAM. Until then they are just a good laugh.
