Chris Godwin Closes Strong

December 30th, 2018

After a couple of bad games in December, Chris Godwin eased Joe’s nerves today and ended the 2018 campaign with two strong outings.

It says a lot about Godwin, Joe believes, a guy who looks like a very strong No. 2-receiver complement to Mike Evans that any new Bucs head coach will love.

Godwin cranked out 6 catches for 114 yards today and 2 TDs. That closed his sophomore campaign with 59 catches for 842 yards and 7 TDs. He has yet to miss an NFL game.

What a steal the 2017 third-round pick has been, and he turns just 23 in February. If the Bucs do the smart thing and re-sign Adam Humphries, they are in fantastic shape at wide receiver for their new head coach/offensive guru.

And Joe has to note that all three of those guys, Godwin, Evans and Humphries are known for their extreme work ethic.

Now go out and draft a speedster receiver that’s good depth and be a real threat at returner.

Not sure we need to draft a seed receiver joe. Bobo could do what mesean does all day and actually give a little effort in the process. Hes got time with Jameis since college as well. And that doesnt include justin Watson. I dont think the bucs need to use any picks on receiver this year. And they should definitely resign hump.

This was the Godwin we were hoping for!
I can’t wait for next season!
    New coach new culture!

Best available player at cornerback, defensive end, offensive tackle or running back. Get me Mike McCarthey as head coach, Bruce Arians as director of operations and Jim Schwartz or Wade Phillips as defensive coordinator. Keep the same offense with Monken and give Jamies one more year to prove himself.

Oh and get ride of D. Jackson and start Godwin and find a way to keep Hump and Brate if possible.

    Go Bucs!!!

  4. Knack2Babbyyyy Says:

Godwin played such a great game today. There should be no question about who our WR2 will be next year.

  5. Fire Light Says:

Godwin was actually one of the picks that made sense. Licht has missed a lot, but Godwin and Winston are going to win a lot of football games!

  6. Tampabaybucfan Says:

We need to draft Oline….first two rounds….

Pick up a CB in FA…..there are 4,372 available.

  7. Cometowin Says:

You Glazers have more money then you will ever need. Make it happen!!! Give us a winner!!!

  8. orlbucfan Says:

He’s not called ‘ungodly’ for nothing. That is Jason Licht and the scouts who grabbed him. Inbreds clean house–leave Licht in his position.

  10. Fire Light Says:

Bobo Wilson is good. Don’t tie up any money with Bumphries. Nyquan Murray will be available in the draft. Replace Bumph with Noonie. Bingo!

  11. Fire Light Says:

    Firrreeeeee Licht!

  12. JimmyJack Says:

Needed a strong finish or we have have to start thinking about making a big upgrade at WR.

  13. Bird Says:

    Koetter is gone

    Planned before game
    Good source

  14. Rod Munch Says:

No rain, gets to wear his gloves, he’s great. He needs to spend the entire offseason practicing without gloves with wet balls.

  15. Bird Says:

    Webster ?

  16. Scotty in Fat Antonio Says:

Have they been fired yet? Jags just announced they are keeping everyone.

  17. JimmyJack Says:

Don’t tie up money with Humphries. What you mean our best route running and most dependable receiver? The guy who creates the most separation in our passing game?

That’s not tying up money. That’s smart investing.

I like this kid. He’s faster than he looks and physical

    Great young player….

  20. orlbucfan Says:

Godwin should be named Offensive Player of the Week. Won’t happen cos it’s the Bucs. Wrong!

  21. snookman Says:

It has just been reported Dirk Koetter has ben let go. (WFLA 8) Jay Glazer Broke news.

  22. JimmyJack Says:

Orlbuc……Bucs do get overlooked but wrong time to complain. Players of the week are basically always picked from winning games

  23. Gruden4President Says:

Bobo Wilson is a scrub. I dont think theres anything left to say about that

  24. Scotty in Fat Antonio Says:

Joe’s…are you going to do an open thread on Potential Coach/GM Regime Change starting like NOW?…LOL

  25. Alaskan Abdominal Snowman Says:

I agree that Hump needs to be back. I think it comes down to what someone will overpay him. If someone offers him 9-10m and we are offering 7-8, can we blame him?
Would have been nice to see Rojo and Watson some more today. Looks like we still need an impact RB and another receiver for depth if Hump leaves,

  26. Alvin Scissors Harper Says:

Fire..glad you think Jay Miss is gonna win a lot of football games. He sure hasn’t done that in his first four years. I know it’s not entirely his fault, but he definitely shares in the blame with all his turnovers and shenanigans.

  27. Rod Munch Says:

To keep Hump or not really comes down to what someone else is willing to pay him. I think he’s a great #4 WR and a good enough #3, but as a #4 he’s a legit mismatch and can be really productive. So will someone pay him top #3 money, or perhaps even low end #2 money, if so then the Bucs will need to let him walk, but if they can get value, then certainly keep him around. I think around $4m is a good deal for Tampa, and I’m not sold on the fact that any team thinks he’s a legit $6-7m a year guy, so perhaps they can afford to keep him.

Anywho I still have a lot of faith in Bobo, in that he can step in and mostly do what Hump already does.

Also for all those that think he’s a shoo-in to go to the Pats because he’s a white WR, keep in mind there is no way the Pats are giving him a big deal, and with Hump’s issue of fumbling away games, that might take him off their board. Don’t forget how much Belichick hates players that fumble, and Hump fumbles a ton, and often fumbles in huge situations.

    Completely OT, sorry.
Mike Mayock reportedly a strong candidate for the Raiders GM job, @nfl.com.

    tickrdr

  29. Rod Munch Says:

Has Dirk been fired yet, it’s been more than 30 minutes with no news. No reason to wait, just get it done.

  30. Rod Munch Says:

tickrdr – Isn’t Gruden just going to figure out a way to bring back his lacky Bruce Allen? That’s where I’d put my money.

  31. Bird Says:

    Aka Webster?

Jameis played good. Won’t win a game that’s close yet
    Elite ?

You have said so. Ypjr.opinion. When will he win the close one. A qb can do that.

    Vea stoked
    Davis stoked
Mike Evans is a damn pimp
Jameis thru some dimes for sure.
    JPp stud
    Adams cool

Today is exactly what I have been telling you over and over again. I mean he throws for 300 plus yards 4 TDs and again we don’t have 100 yards rushing and the defense totally sucks again. How is any QB supposed to win with this around him?

  33. Howard Cosell Says:

No quite as fast as Djax but a smart team player with mad route running receiving skills

  34. denjoe Says:

It must be really hard to execute 2 point plays.
Well, at least we were able to run the ball with a lead.

  35. Alvin Scissors Harper Says:

Ndog, I will agree with you for this one day. This one was not on Jay Miss. Many others have been.

  39. westernbuc Says:

I like how Joe thinks firing these coaches will translate into a better offensive mind. Or that firing the entire front offense will mean retaining any of these players.

  40. Alvin Scissors Harper Says:

    Bird? You drunk again?

  41. Bird Says:

    Koetter is gone. Inside

Joe thinks that means inside jamei s
