It Is In Team Glazer’s Hands

November 1st, 2018

They will decide.

Heavy-metal headbanging Jason La Canfora isn’t exactly sure what the fate of America’s Quarterback, Pro Bowler Jameis Winston, will be. But he’s got a good guess.

La Canfora, of CBS Sports, appeared on the “The Rich Eisen Show” this week and was asked about Jameis, who was benched for the foreseeable future by Bucs coach Dirk Koetter.

La Canfora predicts Jameis will play again for the Bucs this year. But next year? La Canfora discusses that and offers a couple more predictions on the Bucs in the video below.

Who will make the call on Jameis’ future? La Canfora knows. That will be Team Glazer, not Bucs AC/DC-loving general manager Jason Licht nor Koetter.

I trust Glazers, they don’t fear to back off from their own bad decisions or others.
In my opinion they are the only side of this story that are 100% interested on success of BUCS team, not specific individuals and/or players.
They are paying for their bad decisions millions.
Let hope they make better decisions, and have some luck this time.
    Go Bucs.

  2. WyldKat Says:

    Doom.

  3. Pierce Says:

I just question why they’d get rid of Licht. I get the obvious answer, but Marriotta isn’t lighting it up for the titans and is often injured no? Those were our two answers for QB that draft. Plus, I think he’s been about 60/40 in regards to his drafts and free agents (60% positive). He’s whiffed on several but he’s also hit some home runs. When I think of drafting players, I think a decent GM should be able to get 3 good players out of a draft. The Aguayo year was atrocious, but the other years have been pretty solid. JPP pick up this year has been everything we could’ve hoped for (while others have sucked). Also, I don’t blame him for not pulling the trigger last year on firing Mike Smith. I think there needs to be trust in your HC to make some of those decisions. I’m not saying he’s the best GM in the world, but I think he’s been the best since Rich McKay.

  4. Trench War Says:

If that is the case we might as well fire everyone right now. Since their jobs are tied to their win/loss record the only way Licht and Koetter were to agree to that, if they are against it, would be a guarantee no-one gets fired. Because if your job is solely based upon performance and you have no say on the direction of how you manage it, you’re not in control anymore. You might as well be puppets.

  5. 813bucboi Says:

they’ll clean house including monken, keep Winston and hire a defensive minded coach….

    Kris Richard for HC!!!!!!!

    #NOEXCUSESIN2018!!!!….#PRESSURESONTHECOACHES!!!!…GO BUCS!!!!

  6. MBuc Says:

Winston is taking the livelihoods away from so many good people, such a shame. This guy torpedoed so many lives at One Buc and isn’t liked by most of the roster. DeSean Jackson had to ask to be traded to get the QB they wanted back on the field.

  7. stpetebucsfan Says:

Listen I was for drafting JW…MM would have been my second choice…I was wrong…wrong and wrong.

LUV and others were right. We should have traded down. What would an overall #1 have brought in return…2 #1’s and a 2nd or 3rd? I do not know but it would have produced a haul for a team that needed a lot more than just QB.

Again…we’ve got to stop with the desperation. Getting a starting NFL QB is tough…I get that…but it happens ALL the time in this league and even this year it would be relatively easy to trade with Chucky and get Carr. JW and DJAX to Chucky Carr to us.

If you don’t like Carr that’s ok it’s just that there are ALWAYS opportunities.

  8. CRABMAN Says:

I think he’ll play again for TB.

It’s 20 million, but It’s 20 mill to the Glazers. probably comparable to 2 grand for the rest of us. Is that amount worth a roll of the dice for a franchise QB for a team you own.

I think so, but It all depends on Jameis, CRABMAN, Winston and his demeanor. How he takes the benching. If he’s a spoiled little bi#ch, then say adios.

If he doubles down and embraces the learning experience you give him another shot.

  9. CRABMAN Says:

And honestly to some like me who don’t buy what he’s been selling….. if he did double down and embrace the character building experience it would perhaps win over some of us who think he is a low character POS.

we might actually be able to support him, and maybe in time embrace him as the face of the franchise.

people deserve a second chance…but not until they have learned from their mistakes. I don’t think he has. but thats me.

“Tony Dungy will be President of Operations

Lovie Smith will be Head Coach

Joebucsfan will be barred from all press conferences and lockerooms

    Its a Bucs Life”

    Kobe Faker

  11. Fartman Says:

I think we are going to make the wild card with Fitz at QB.

  12. cw_buc_crazy Says:

No other shot on JW. If you give another shot, and then another shot….where you draw the red line????
He has passed many red lines, but most important is that most of fans (the real money machine of Bucs), know that he is NOT the QB they expected to be, not a good NFL QB, and this is the most important. Secondly he has a bad character, liar, sarcastic, bigot, ignorant, impulsive behavior.
Why we should pay to watch him??
    No more shot, period.

  13. Tampabaybucfan Says:

The Glazers & team are paying an unknown price for Jameis’ off-field behavior…..hard to quantify…..but it’s there……Jameis is paying a very heavy price with the absence of endorsements….and possibly less with a future contract.

All of that can be excused if Jameis performs on the field and brings a winner….his time is getting very short.

  14. cw_buc_crazy Says:

“Goodell and the NFL gave the Glazers another Superbowl in Tampa…

The NFL wants a complete reset…amateur hour is over

Gump, Klueless, and “man without a country” JW is out

NFL wants Tony Dungy back in the NFL”

    Kobe Faker

  16. Howard Cosell Says:

    Dear scheme Glazer,
    Please move your “team”
    Thanks

  17. CRABMAN Says:

    no one wants dungy back

better than thou can take that $hit elswhere. we want real

he could be a preacher maybe, not a football coach lol

sapp, lynch, brooks, manning made dungy

  18. adam from ny Says:

diva djax is gonna have a huge game this weekend with fitzie at the helm…they were seen canoodling at the bar at outback steak house on dale mabry yesterday…fitzie helped djax cut his not so tender steak slab, and djax threw fitzie his baked potato for good measure

  19. csidedave Says:

The truth is that none of us really know how the Glazers really feel about Jameis. Their opinion is the only one that matters. At all.

  20. Tampa Bay Demon Says:

DJax, as fun as he is to watch, has been nothing but a pain in the ass to this team since he got here. He has definitely not helped this team move forward in any way, shape or form.

  21. miken Says:

Yeah, i really don’t fault drafting JW. Sometimes you chose between Goff and Wentz or Rivers and manning and sometimes its a year where neither are franchise qbs

  22. jmarkbuc Says:

    Demon

Djax’s demeanor was great in training camp..real team guy. That’s when he knew Fitz would be playing the first three.

He was great during those three weeks too….

Sensing a pattern here? DJax has been in the league long enough to assess QB’s abilities.
    —————————–

Crabman- there are plenty who want Dungy in the Front Office. I don’t think it will ever happen, but would definitely support it.

  23. jmarkbuc Says:

    On Jared Goff..

If Mcvay wasn’t calling protections and audibles into his helmet, right before the snap he wouldn’t be doing nearly as well..

    Major puppeteering going on there.

  24. i like gunslingers Says:

4-0 come after nov 25th, come dec 2nd we got the panthers again, then the saints, dirk not going away, jameis not taking another snap this season as starting QB for the bucs (next season? who knows) we right in the thick of things, we gonna beat the panthers sunday,

  25. stpetebucsfan Says:

BTW In case anybody cares…google and you’ll find that JW’s estimated net worth is 25 million.

None of this will affect his life other than his first love…football might be snatched from him. But he’s set for life!!! And I’m totally cool with that. I do not feel the need to “punish” JW…just the need to move on with this franchise.

The Glazers are the 63rd wealthiest family in the entire country worth just under 5 BILLION. Source…google

I like the Glazers…I do not resent their fabulous wealth…but they need to get out of the way. Hire Tony or Derrick Brooks and let them make the rest of the FOOTBALL decisions. Give them a budget and then let em roll.

There is one consideration I give the Glazers…off field issues…if a player embarrasses them or the franchise off the field then they should be free to step in.

  26. Tampa Bay Demon Says:

    @jmarkbuc,

Definitely hear what you are saying, man. I just don’t think being a “team guy” should be dependent on which way the wind is blowing or who is on the field at that moment. Still, that being said, I loved what I saw from DJax on the other post and just going to let it lie there. I am definitely rooting for him.

  27. Bucs fan #7423 Says:

Glazers should be happy their not wasting more MILLIONS on Lichts picks

  28. TOM Says:

The Glazer idiots need to sell the team. Thats the bottom line. Its all about the money.

  29. LakeLand Says:

People in Tampa was bragging about how Jameis Winston
Was voted #57 on the NFL Top 100 (By his peers)

    They was talking #WeaponsForWinston#
    And 18 months later

    They are talking
    Getting rid of him

What happen during the past 18 months?

  30. Buc4evr Says:

Funny reading all the comments, but nobody knows yet how things will play out. The Bucs could easily be crushed this week and Jameis is back in the starting role. Wish Fitz the best, but we are talking about the Bucs who can never get all aspects of the game working. Kinda like my golf game.

  31. jjbucfan Says:

    jmarkbuc,

you are absolutely correct that D Jax has been in the league long enough to assess QB play, he knows who can get HIM the ball better, but is it right for the whole team and for the future? He has never been known as a “team player” in the locker room in Philly or Washington. I think dude has all the talent in the world and his skill is second to none, but my guess is he really wants that 11 mill again next from the Bucs, he may only get 6 or 7 on the open market. Just sayin’

  32. LakeLand Says:

    Age 21-Pro Bowl Appearance
Age 22-Voted the #57th best player in the NFL (By his peers)

Now at the age of 24, he’s benched, for a 36 year old career backup
And they are talking about getting rid of him

There is more to this than meet the eye

  33. jmarkbuc Says:

    Lakeland

    C’mon man…

His pro bowl appearance was as a last minute alternate…

What meets the eye is JW’s ability, or lack thereof…No conspiracy here.

  34. jmarkbuc Says:

    jjbucfan

I was never a big Djax fan.

That being said, he was different, better, in TC this year…Vocal leader, working with the other WR’s.

Sure, he likes that Fitz can get him the ball. I do too. That’s why he was brought here. I don’t think Djax minds if OJ and ME etc. get their’s too…..

He wouldn’t be the first to take money from the Bucs..and him wanting a QB that can help him flourish isn’t a bad thing to me.

  35. SKBucsFan Says:

Age 21- He was a substitute for someone that was actually selected for the Pro-Bowl.
Age 22- Being popular doesn’t mean you are good at what you do.
Age 24- Reality set in. His erratic playing style and carelessness with the ball does not stand up well to the worlds best defensive players.

  36. JimmyJack Says:

Everybody is talking about Winston’s poor play on the field and arguing whether he should be a Buc or not. Perhaps their is no decision to make. What if the team has given up on Winston? Nobody’s mentioning that but if Winston don’t have the support of his teammates there is next to no chance he will meet expectations.

  37. csidedave Says:

@Lakeland I do wish there was more to it than meets the eye but unfortunately it is obvious to the eye.

He was my guy too BUT there is no doubt he has to sit. I hope he can return and succeed but I am not counting on it.

  38. Alanbucsfan Says:

After the Bucs made an incredible comeback with Fitzmagic against Cincy, they had all the momentum. Did they go for the jugular and go after Dalton on the last possession? NO – they played [Easy with the female cat reference! — Joe] prevent and acted like they were hoping Cincy would give them a chance to go to OT.
    That is coaching…

  39. Not there yet Says:

I think they will clean house. Coaches, gm and unless a new coach wants to retain position coaches like a defensive coach keeping Monken as the o coordinator they are all gone. As far as players go Lavonte David and McCoy make to much money to have this bad a defense so they’ll get rid of them with grimes, rebuild the defense and scheme but keep the offense somewhat intact

  40. Rod Munch Says:

Fire Dirk and give Winston a massive extension, unless you want another 15 years of losing, then dump Winston and go through yet another rebuild.

  41. stpetebucsfan Says:

Wow Rod. Don’t want you as a GM. You think it takes NFL teams 15 years to find a QB or replacement?

  42. FortMyersDave Says:

Alanbucsfan; the (your choice of key adjective) prevent D is standard fare for the Bucs when tied or holding a lead; that has not changed since Mike Smith got pink slipped just like Koetter on offense when tied or down by a score: go turtle and try to pick up some yards for a missed FG from the kicker; you seen that formula before the half at the Cincy game and at the end of regulation in the Browns game and Koetter sent in that play call in the Saints finale last year but Winston disregarded him and made the 39 yard TD pass to Godwin…. The coaching of this franchise is kind of vanilla when it comes to brass tacks….
