“The Fabric Of The Man Won’t Let Him Concede”

November 27th, 2018

Real recognizes real.

Call Simeon Rice impressed.

The best Bucs edge rusher since the late great Lee Roy Selmon and perhaps better than Selmon, former Bucs great  Rice was tipped off over the weekend to what current Jason Pierre-Paul accomplished.

If you happened to be in a cave the past two days, JPP had a sack Sunday against the 49ers to give him 10.5 sacks with five games to go. It was the first time since 2005 that a Bucs defensive lineman recorded double-digit sacks.

Rice was elated to learn a guy like JPP finally ended the Bucs’ long national nightmare, types Jenna Laine of ESPN.

“That kid’s got f—ing heart,” said [Rice]. “Look at what he’s been through. It’s bigger than football. It’s who he is in his core. The fabric of the man won’t let him concede.”

Joe cannot disagree with one word Rice said.

It’s too bad somehow JPP can’t be cloned. In the darkness that is the Bucs defense, JPP is a shimmering light.

“Perhaps better than Selmon” ? Not likely….Rice was a great player but Selmon’s in the best DE ever conversation. Monster in a 3 man line. Watch the tape 🙂

  2. OneBuc55 Says:

Simeon Rice is one guy that should be in the Hall of Fame…

Along with Mike Alstott, John Lynch, and even Ronde Barber… if any of these guys played in a bigger market they would already be in the HOF…

Shame on the Hall of Fame voters for not acknowledging what these guys did which was amazing; they turned the (Yucs) Tampa Bay Buccaneers into a Super Bowl winning team…

  3. Robert Says:

Rice ALWAYS beet his man and got the QB when it was a money play.

    it was unreal

  4. Owlykat Says:

He needs to be the example of what we need to find in the draft. It takes great heart and relentless drive no matter what, good speed to get off fast and chase down QBs, and the size and length that PFF has in order to stop the run by fighting off blocks, and good character and a good team player. Also should have comparable college stats that PFF had and durability and a continuous motor to the whistle. We also need to sign PFF to a long term contract that includes bonuses if he meets certain milestones. That way he can help develop future DEs that we draft or obtain from other teams, like Nassib. Our opponents in our Division have had good results with older DEs we passed on.

  5. Darin Says:

Yeah i agree Joe Blahak. Not better than Selmon. I wouldnt even put him close. Jpp is playing great tho. Definitely surprising me with his effort and leadership. Do need a bunch more guys like him, at a tenth of the salary tho.

In other news…Jameis has settled with uber girl.

  7. Robert Says:

why would he do that if he wasn’t guilty.

seems like a story I have heard before……..and will probably hear again

  8. Conte Piscatelli Says:

So remember last year how all we heard was that no one could get a sack with how atrocious or secondary was, sadly or secondary may be worse this season and here stands JPP with 10.5 sacks and a browns reject with 5.5. How? They both keep working, relentlessly.

  9. Miguel Grande Says:

In other news…Jameis has settled with uber girl. Why would he do that if he wasn’t guilty?

You settle because it cost alot less and you can put restrictions on Uber girl and what she can disclose.

  10. Mikey Says:

Let’s get JPP on what Brees is using. Best year, and at age 39 LMAO SMH

  11. Howard Cosell Says:

Too bad Rice never did more high-level media work….he’s a fascinating intellect….

  12. Howard Cosell Says:

    @Mike
I’ll guarantee you Brees doesn’t ever drink and he probably has the diet of a triathlete ….every day of his life….even holidays

  13. James Walker Says:

Alstott is not a Hall of Famer. For FB to get in he would have to compare to Csonka. #40 does not even come close.

  14. Bucsalltheway Says:

Maybe Noah Spence can blow his fingers off and be good too…I have pride and if I was on this bucs defense I’d be ashamed to have all ten fingers and non productive stats. And here this guy can count to 6 maybe 7 and a half and he leads the team in sacks.. #bucsballerof2018

    Miguel

I think Jameis made one of the most boneheaded moves in franchise history going out blind drunk at 3AM with a convicted thug and another bad character with his sorry FSU rep.

I think he probably grabbed the girl just from the way the facts lined up…but it’s over now and time to move on. Surely though JW has been told exactly what Reuben Foster was told at the beginning of this season after his first domestic violence incident…mess up again and you’re gone.

But Miguel hate to pop your bubble but innocent people and organizations pay off all the time. It’s just about the Benjamins. Take JW’s case…if he got off for 75,000 kudos to his lawyers. It’s not about guilt or innocence…it’s about how much money it would cost to remain “innocent”? How much legal expense would be involved.

I have quite a few friends who are health care providers. One of the things that aggravates Docs as much as anything is being forced by insurance companies to accept a settlement even when they know they’re innocent. It’s just the $$$$. If JW got by for just 75,000….he’s worth an estimated 20 million(according to google)…he just hit the lottery!

As Buc fans however we should rejoice in simply putting this behind us. Barring another mess up there is the real chance that JW will be playing similar to Sunday…we win three more games and next year starts without suspensions or legal action from a young woman. A clean start next year is priceless.

none of those people could make a truly great teams ring of honor much less deserve to be in the hall of fame…. Brooks was Tampa’s free pass in the hall of fame along with the unqualified dungy…. brooks is a nobody without sapp playing in front of him. just another fast, small linebacker…. bucs were a bad team with a great defense. sapp and selmon only true legends rest are just underachieving has-beens that rode sapp’s coat tails to a pathetic 5 career playoff wins. bucs don’t get credit because they did not earn it… they were a 500 team that could not win in the playoffs outside of gruden’s glory year after cleaning up dungy the clowns mess..

brady, Staubach, Bradshaw, Montana those are legends bucs legends are laughable jokes who choked in post season.

  18. Handofgod Says:

Robert, what you said is only true for weak minded Nimrods like yourself who fall asleep reading anything longer than 140 characters.

  19. Rod Munch Says:

JPP has been great, he’s been able to take advantage of those one-on-one matchups he’s been getting as teams continue to double McCoy and he’s been able to take advantage. I loved the pick at the time it was made, and obviously love the pick today.

What will be interesting is if the Bucs blow up the defense, do you trade JPP and if so what do you get? If JPP has 15 sacks can you get a 1st out of a team that is making a SB run? I don’t think so – in fact I think it will be hard to get even a 2nd, but that should be the goal. Otherwise you keep him until his contract runs out and hope he rubs off on other guys.

There will never be a better BUC, than Lee Roy Selmon, Rest In Peace #63, Rest In Peace………
