You guys are killing it. I was pretty depressed when we retained Bowles and Mike hauled azz. For the longest time I felt this was going to be a lost season but now that football is right around the corner I’m starting to get fired up! GO BUCS

Me and old Junebug are having a harder time keeping up with the grass than we used to. What better way to spend our time waiting for the grass to dry out than listening to our favorite podcast? My wife tells me what used to take me 3 or 4 hours a week now takes 3 or 4 hours a day. She couldn’t string a weedeater with directions. I told her, ain’t no big dang reason to be in no big dang hurry. She told me that I’m full of it. Oh, well.
I’m a Mayfield fan. He’s full of it, too. In fact, I can see how his attitude can be a bit tiring to some folks. I’m almost tired of hearing so much about him.
The reason I’m a Mayfield fan is I’ve watched alot of QBs. At OU, Jason White, Sam Bradford, Kyler Murray, Baker Mayfield, all win Heismann Trophies at OU as QBs, and Jalen Hurts was a runner up. Since 2007. I’ve seen some pretty good QBs. Mayfield stood out from all the others- must be something for Sports Illustrated to vote you college QB of the century.
Josh Allen and Baker came out the same year- Mayfield set an NFL record for rookie TD passes and was Football Writers rookie of the year- turned the biggest joke of a franchise in the NFL into a contender. Josh Allen threw 10 touchdown passes his rookie year to go along with 12 interceptions. Not even in the same league.
Brady threw 197 TD passes his first eight seasons- so did Baker. 197. A whole bunch more than Drew Brees. Not even a contest.
I don’t want to hear too much more from Baker. I touched on the talent this guy has. And that’s what I want Tampa fans to see this season. He’s more than obviously got it in him. And that’s what people miss- he is a gifted QB.
If Mayfield has the kind of season I think he can we can play with anybody in this league. This maybe be the best supporting cast he’s ever had. Still hasn’t had any continuity at OC, but he knows Zac, and I think Zac knows Mayfield’s strengths.
If Baker and the best offensive line he has ever played with should stay healthy this year? Stop the presses. And I ain’t whistling Dixie. And as much as I enjoyed the Gruden podcast last week, I don’t think it gets any better than the 3 of you guys. But, as a football fan, I want you guys to see what Baker can do with a complementary team, all three phases of the game. Because if Baker is the 14th best quarterback in the league, then I’ll be a monkeys uncle. And I’m not.
Thanks, Kenton. –Joe
