Bucs Have A New Kicker

November 12th, 2018

Quick work.

All hail your new Bucs kicker!

Per Ian Rapoport of the NFL Network, the Bucs have signed kicker Cairo Santos.

So if everything works like it has the past five years, the Bucs will have a new kicker by May.

  1. Cs2 Says:

Honestly we should’ve kept Trevor Moore over Catanzaro.

  2. Bculaw Says:

Why on Earth would any kicker sign here. It’s where careers cone to die!!

  3. Buccaneer Bonzai Says:

I was hoping they’d brought back Connor Barth. He;s available. Don’t know how healthy.

Don’t expect Cairo Santos to be much better, if not worse. At this point, they had to bring in new blood and it was clear they could not wait for a better tryout.

IF I were Licht, I would keep trying out kickers just in case.

  4. Buccaneer Bonzai Says:

There is no kicker curse. That’s silly. It;s just that since we lost Barth, no one has been any good. It;s not like any of these guys since ever set the league on fire.

  5. Mort Says:

Cairo Santos used to be really good. Then he got injured and hasn’t found a job since.

  6. Dewey Selmon Says:

If this dude craps the bed I’m on board with the Anger holding conspiracy theory.

  7. BucEmUp Says:

Patrick Murray was solid. Didn’t have a big leg but solid within 45….which his range could have improved. I woulda stuck with him.

    KOETTER SUCKS!!!!!!!!!

  8. 911bucs Says:

GM is just not good enough at evaluating talent.

  9. Dom is gone...Licht Says:

Only curse is on us fans for having to endure this garbage since 79…. old timers just think about how much terrible football we’ve had to watch or listen to because the games were blacked out.. it’s literally a lifetime of crap!

  10. GoBuxFla Says:

If Licht is still GM, we know that this time we won’t screw up. We’ll use pick #5 in the draft to get the greatest kicker of all time (Aguayo’s brother).

  11. Rod Munch Says:

Should have signed him last season.

Anywho was an excellent kicker in KC, which means of course he’ll most likely be terrible in Tampa.

Not that it will matter since Dirk is the coach and is an idiot who is intent on blowing up the team before he gets fired.

  12. Jawo75 Says:

Just go for two every time. Be a 4 down offense and only have to average 2.5 yards per down. Can’t be any worse than now.

  13. Buc believer Says:

Poor Cairo last kicking job he will ever have.

  14. Frank813 Says:

Why do we keep signing kickers from the Jets?

  15. JJV Says:

If only owners could match the longtime passion, dedication, commitment, perseverance, enthusiasm, and diligence we diehard fans give to our team. The bottom line is our desire of a winner to be proud of. We understand that it is a business but believe to be a success it takes an attitude that does not accept failure. We reject poor business decisions which lead to losing. Losing is unacceptable. There is no compromise- winning is the only thing that matters. Our code is built on making the impossible possible. We never waiver in our conviction that when the going gets tough the tough get going. We repel excuses as well as poor effort. Until our owners totally share our vision, we will remain the beacon of hope for a better tomorrow.

  16. Knack2Babbyyyy Says:

When are we going to start blaming ST coordinator, Nate Kaczor. Every kicker that walks through the dark halls of One Buc Place, automatically regresses. As a coach it’s your job to develop these guys into better players, however his coaching failures on all facets of special teams continue to fly under the radar.

  17. chris l Says:

I gotta say Joe that was the funniest thing i have heard all day in that we will have a new kicker by may. at this point, all i can do is laugh because it is just too unbelievable how kickers come to tampa and are so bad.

  18. Ndog Says:

Who cares anymore, this is all meaningless until they fire the incompetent one. I mean what more does anyone need to see in order to run this buffoon out of town?

  19. danr Says:

our punter is the kicker curse. get a new holder.

  20. Defense Rules Says:

So Catanzaro made $3,750,000 for kicking in 9 games … a tad over $400K per game. Wonder how long it takes the average fan to make $3,750,000. A lifetime for most? Obviously most of us have screwed up. We should’ve signed on to be a kicker for the Bucs … everyone else has.

  21. LakeLand Says:

    The Nick Mullens show

  22. ElioT Says:

Why not just have Gerald McCoy kick the ball?

He’s such a f**king “warrior”, he can flop around if anyone touches him, grimace, get up limping and get the penalty, because that’s what warriors do.

  23. Bobby M. Says:

I think I read on another site….its our 7th kicker since 2015. Because that’s how dynasties are built.

  24. WalkdaPlank Says:

Don’t worry Joe, the Bucs will use Santos for now until they can get their REAL kicker.

Ricky Aguayo out of FSU in the second round

  25. K_Bassuka Says:

It doesn’t matter when you have Suckpatrick leading this team with his loser mentality.

  26. Tampa Stadium Says:

Santos will be our kicker for the next 7 years.

  27. JJV Says:

On 15 September 2013, Santos’ father died in a plane crash in Brazil. “I used to talk to my dad everyday, all the time. We were very close. He was my biggest fan, very supportive of my career, always wishing me to do well, no matter what. He will always be there for me. I know. After each successful kick or game I always think about him. I point my fingers to the sky in honor of him.”

  28. Jameis Wienstien Says:

Well if you throw enough crap at the wall some will eventually stick…. I guess.

  29. Tbbucs3 Says:

    Boooooooo Jason Licht booooooooooooooo

  30. AfrikaThaRapper Says:

@Joe What do you think about Jack Del Rio?

  31. Erik w/ Clean Athletics Says:

    5 weeks too late.

If there is 1 reason I would honestly fire Koetter, it would be for not replacing the kicker weeks ago.

    For shame.

  32. Mike Evans Goat Says:

Fire Anger. Worst holder in the league lmao

  33. ElioT Says:

    K_Bassuka:

Fitz might have a loser mentality but he’s no pioneer on the g*d damn squad.

    J. Wienstien:
There is no amount of s*it that will stick on this franchise’s wall. The Bucs are the single most creative losers of all time in the NFL.They will f**k up a wet dream.

  34. ElioT Says:

Gerald “Warrior” McCoy is the leader of Loserville AKA: Cleveland-Next

    Make no mistake about it.

  35. Mike Evans Goat Says:

At what point can we get some articles and information on our potential new GM and Coach?
Do we go college and sign Lincoln Riley or Matt Campbell from Iowa State.
Or do we go Experience and bring in one of the Harbaughs?

  36. cmurda Says:

Don’t worry Mike Evans Goat. I got you. We go experience. After the Raheem / Schiano experiments, I don’t think the Glazers will have the nads to risk an up and comer. Schwartz, Harbaughs, Arians would be on the short list. The only college coaches I could see drawing Glazer interest would be Jim Harbaugh or Saban. Saban’s cup of coffee in the NFL was a long time ago with a terrible Miami roster. Have you seen Alabama recently? That team would beat the Bucs by 30 points.

  37. K_Bassuka Says:

    Elio T:
Suckpatrick brought and spread his loser mentality decease to this team. The Bucs were doing fine before he was brought over to sink the ship.

  38. Brandon Says:

    Welcome to the team Cairo!

  39. Mike Evans Goat Says:

    Cmurda
I like either one of the Harbaughs.
I think the Glazers will do it right this time and hire a GM THEN let him choose his own coach. They might look at the success that the rams are having with a young HC and be enticed to sign a young guy like riely or Campbell.
Either way the GM comes first. Who has been killing the draft lately that we could look to bring in their #2?

  40. Mike Evans Goat Says:

Saban ain’t leaving. He sees multiple Championships in tua

  41. Oxycondoms Says:

I heard Licht chose Cairo while waiting for the staff at the winghouse to fix his bottomless beer mug

  42. Destinjohnny Says:

Suprised Jason didn’t trade oj for Matt Bryant

  43. ElioT Says:

    K_Bassuka:

Really? Fitz is what brought the loser mentality to this team?

    Don’t make McCoy “laugh”

90% of this roster is filled with losers.

  44. SOEbuc Says:

Don’t know much about htis guy. But can he at least make most of his extra points?

  45. SOEbuc Says:

    Mike Evans Goat

The problem with that is the Glazer kids have no clue how to sign a good football GM. Rock Star didn’t know sh!t about business or football and JL is purely a business man that doesn’t know how to manage and put good players on the team.

  46. SOEbuc Says:

Throw enough money at any coach and they’ll come. No way Saban is coming. F#ck John Harbaugh and Jim Harbaugh. Ravens 44-45 with John and I just hate Jim with a passion for no paticular reason. Open the vault to an NFL defensive HC with experience in the playoffs. I would have no problem bringing Raheem back and it would cost far less than coaches like Arians or college coaches like Jim Harbaugh. He’s been working on both sides of the ball for his entire career working many different position coaching jobs and took Bucs 10-6 in 2012, last time we had double digit wins.

  47. SOEbuc Says:

    ^^Make D.Brooks LB coach^^

  48. Patrick in SC (formerly VA) Says:

I recall this guy being at least decent on other teams. So, we can expect that he’s forgotten how to kick and is going to probably be so bad that he whiffs on a kick and knocks Bryan Anger out for the season as well.

  49. ME 13 Says:

I don’t care if he misses a few !! Atleast to start with we have some hope when he trots out the first time!!! I’m still baffled that we keep PLEZJAC when he is alil cry baby when don’t get the ball!! Now it’s like dark an Dork are trying to prove a point an Play Fitdrizle an hope he can get lucky an get one deep to PLEZJAC !!! If 3. Is not the answer let him show us he is not!!! Dark an Dork was so quick to pick up his 5th yr option how does a few games when the D couldn’t stop nobody an 3 feels like he has to make something happen change a 20mil move !! There not worried bout the injury gurranty or he would not dress!! Mite b looking at this wrong !! Maybe they are trying help 3 by making him watch fitiz make the bone headed picks that 3 makes to he can feel the pain !!!

  50. BurgDweller Says:

    @ Elio T

The Bucs are the Browns of the south. Although, the real Browns are actually better off than the Bucs. At least they have a good young QB and RB to build around. Licht can’t draft a RB to save his life.

  51. Zwak Says:

    Super Bowl..

  52. K_Bassuka Says:

    Elio T:
Suckpatrick has 2 winning seasons as a starting QB in 14 years, and that’s counting the 2-1 record he got last year. That’s who the alleged franchise QB supposed to learn from. GMC has 1 less winning season that Suckpatrick in much less time.

  53. Buccaneer Bonzai Says:

Idiots wanting to fire a great punter because of the way he hold for the kicker…unbelievable.

Here’s an idea…keep the punter, but have someone else hold!

And, by the way…stop blaming Koetter for the kicker. He plays the hand he’s dealt.

  54. TOM Says:

Saban had his chance with Miami and blew it. Screw him he flat out quit. I’d rather see Monken get promoted or Del Rio. No college coaches. Maybe a young stud from one of the other NFL teams.

  55. Blogtalkfootball.com Says:

I actually was hoping that we would have signed Santos before Catanzaro.

  56. Biggun Says:

This is the curse of releasing Matt Bryant we’ve had terrible kicker issue since his release think about it one gets a torn Achilles heel another one a MRSA infection 2 other kickers can’t get between the uprights maybe we should just bring Matt Bryant back name a big chunk of cash like this kid got for just nine games he’ll double it. If I’m not mistaken we’re still paying Lovie Smith off we got so much dead money going out that front office it’s crazy I think I’ll just jump in line and see if I can get a check to!

  57. Biggun Says:

Oh and for you stat hounds how many kicks has Matt Bryant missed since being with the Falcons all these years I’m sure not many!
