9-18 Since The 2016 Streak

November 5th, 2018

Here’s a fun fact: Raheem Morris’ Buccaneers once went on a 16-9 run, spanning the final three games of the 2009 campaign until their trip to London in 2011.

It was a beautiful thing. Real hope.

Instead, it sparked one of the darkest eras in Bucs history. You know the rap sheet, a 10-game losing streak came next followed by four ugly seasons, a 9-7 campaign and the football funeral of a No. 1 overall pick. Don’t forget the MRSA, intentionally tanking a home game and sicking Josh McCown on innocent fans before torturing them with unforgivable kicking.

Welcome to Tampa.

The Bucs are now on a 9-18 run since Dirk Koetter and his 2016 team re-injected hope into the fan base, a five-game winning streak late that season sparked by great defense.

It even sparked a movement, The Stick Carriers. Unfortunately, the team responded by resembling a movement of a different kind.

Joe is literally aching today. Too many bad beatings. If the Bucs were a poker table, Joe would get up and walk away for a year. But it’s not; it’s the Bucs, which is life for so many reading this, as well as the guy typing.

Joe can’t wait until hope season returns. It’s a lot more fun than 9-18 and what Greg Schiano called being the “laughing stock” of the NFL.

  2. LUVMYBUCS Says:

The biggest game of this season – will be against Washington.
If we can beat Washington – followed by New York & San Francisco.
We’ll be (6-5) with Carolina at home for the revenge game.

Can’t wait to see if we’ve got enough stones – to go all out this weekend or fold-up the tent for the winter. Only time will tell.

    GO BUCS!

The locker room has quit on itself….and they ain’t coming back….”pays the same mentality”…some on the roster consider themselves lucky for being released or going into FA in the off season…. IMO..it had been a combination of talent and coaching going into yesterday….it is now perfectly clear there is a big “I don’t give a phuck” attitude inside the locker room….Koetter might as well call them out ….he is a goner now

  4. BucDan Says:

LUV is right! Just have to stack a few Ws and we are “back in it” so to speak.

Although I don’t know if the number of stones is as important as how BIG the stones need to be.

This team needs to wake up and start to constantly dominate the other team from whistle to whistle. Let them know that there is only one team on the field, the rest are just stragglers.

    Sunday cannot come soon enough.

    Go Bucs.

  5. Defense Rules Says:

What doesn’t seem to make any sense Joe is that this is the same coaching staff, and the defense has supposedly been ‘upgraded ‘ a bunch. Why in the world is this defense performing so much worse?

  6. ChanEpic Says:

I’m still LOLing at that fake punt attempt yesterday. Is this real life?

  7. Rojas Says:

Wel Bruce arians said the k my job he would consider is Cleveland if he comes back, take him off the list.

  8. rhenry Says:

Can we bring back the Tampa Bay Bandits? Great ownership “John Reaves” great coach “Steve Spurrier” great uniforms and mascot “Remember the black stallion” and a winning record.

  9. Eric Says:

ah the constant domination is upcoming…..

  10. Jammin Says:

Hard to cheer on this team. After 20+ years of being a diehard fan this is the worst I have ever felt about the Bucs. I agree with your poker reference Joe. NFL football is just not fun these past couple of years. The bucs are about to hit rock bottom IMO. Years or idiodic moves haunt this team and it feels nothing is changing or will change in the next 5.

I feel like the only people still rooting for this team are the idiots who hate Jameis Winston. To all those people.. you deserve this team and hope you enjoy your crow at the end of the season after Fitzpatrick s%&>ts the bed and Winston leaves to be successful with another team.

    DR

    coaching!!!!

    obviously it aint talent…..

    #NOEXCUSESIN2018!!!!….#PRESSURESONTHECOACHES!!!!!…GO BUCS!!!!

  12. Loyaltotheend Says:

Stick Carriers what a joke, they and their leader are begging for the Head Coach they once adored to be fired for the second year in a row ha ha ha ha

  13. GhostofSchiano Says:

Schiano’s fake punt worked, unlike Koetters.

It was against the Cardinals, Dashon Goldson took the direct snap and converted a first down. I was in the upper deck looking at the formation versus the Cardinals coverage team and thought what a great call.

Too bad Schiano wasn’t given more time.

  14. 813bucboi Says:

the title should read: 9-18 since the fluke!!!!!!

    #NOEXCUSESIN2018!!!!….#PRESSURESONTHECOACHES!!!!!…GO BUCS!!!!

  15. Colonel Angus Says:

Yeah, win the next 3. Give us all false hope. We would then need to win 4 of those last 5 vs Panthers, Saints, Ravens, Cowboys and Falcons. Good luck with that.

  16. Bucsace Says:

Cleveland is now Tampa Bay North

  17. Rod Munch Says:

Hey guys, lets talk to the draft, who is the top corner next year, what kind of…. zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz…..

I hate talking about the draft by Halloween each year.

  18. Rod Munch Says:

Bucsace – That’s total and complete fake news.

    All-Time Winning %…

    20. Cleveland Browns, .490%

    31. Arizona Cardinals, .429%
    32. Tampa Bay Buccaneers, .387%

That Bucs are in a class of their own, being WAYYYYY worse than any other NFL team.

    Also… MLB all-time winning percentage.

    29. Tampa Bay Rays, .466%

Remember there’s only 30 teams in the MLB.

But hey, at least we have the Lightning and they are year in and year out one of the top teams in hockey!

    NHL all-time winning percentage.

    26. Tampa Bay Lightning, .488%

So to wrap it all up, not even the Lightning are the Cleveland Browns of the south, the Browns have had more success.

  19. Jonathan Lipnicki Says:

That painting needs to be smashed to smithereens. It’s a bad luck idol/omen and the team has stunk since. And The Dirk has been defrocked as The Joes’ would say…

  20. Frank Pillow Says:

I can’t believe I’m going to type this- but after re-listening to that Schiano moment, I can’t help but empathize with him. He did inherit a disaster. A roster full of immature party boys, quitters and check cashiers. Somehow, someway he was convinced that a D should be built from the back to the front- and he got a lot of other things wrong and executed it poorly, but there was a vision, an intent, that has been lacking around here for a very long time.

Break out the brown paper bags

  22. Defense Rules Says:

@813bucboi … “coaching!!!! obviously it aint talent.” Strange thing bucboi, JPP seems to disagree with you (a couple articles prior). But hey, what does he know. Reality to me is that it’s BOTH. Far too many of these players lack physical AND mental toughness (oh ya, and skill) PLUS this GM & coaching staff is definitely not up to the ‘standards’ of the rest of the NFC South. Can’t turn a crippled ship like this around in a year, but the sooner we start the sooner the Bucs can be relevant once again.

  23. Dusthty Rhothdes Says:

The bucs were not good when they were 9-7 and they were just putting perfume on a pig and not making any personnel moves that were drastically needed

Break out the brown paper bags

these days people simply DON’T Go…..

  25. Pryda Says:

We are going to lose people they needed to fire Koetter last year

  26. Rod Munch Says:

AlteredEgo – There was a time not that long ago when tickets to see the Lightning, the Bucs or the Storm all were within about $5 of each other. You could get $8 tickets for a Storm game, probably $7 for a Lightning game (I remember them being super cheap at the Thunderdome) and Bucs tickets were around $12 for an endzone seat. It was really affordable, even with inflation, to go to a Bucs game so you could show up just to wear a brown bag on your head and try to get on TV. Now not only is it insanely expensive to go the games, the stadium security would probably deem you a terrorist threat if you attempted to bring a brown bag into the stadium.
