Trading Jameis Should Be Explored

October 28th, 2018

“What’s the market, Jason? You always want to know the market.”

Today, Jameis Winston hit rock bottom of his professional football career.

Some might say Joe is wrong, rock bottom was the day Jameis agreed to be suspended by the NFL and labeled a sex offender by the league office.

No, rock bottom came today. Getting benched for Ryan Fitzpatrick in the third quarter after throwing a pick-six. That’s as very bad as it gets, far worse than the strongarm of Roger Goodell, especially when that pick was your fourth of the day and 10th in 13 quarters played this season.

The unthinkable has happened and it cannot be ignored, even by a guy like Joe who roots for Jameis.

With the 2018 trade deadline two days away, and the future of the franchise in peril (yes, when your franchise QB is benched, everything is in peril), it would be downright irresponsible for Jason Licht and Team Glazer to not explore the trade market for Jameis immediately.

What are the odds of Jameis getting his game fixed in Tampa? There’s no reason to think Koetter and company will do it. And there’s little reason to think a new regime, if there is one next season, would want Jameis to be their quarterback of the future.

So logic says see what the market is for Jameis over the next 48 hours.

Maybe the Giants or Jaguars are willing to cough up picks and players. Perhaps John Elway sees the writing on the wall with Case Keenum and believes in Jameis, or maybe the Dolphins have had enough of their QB situation. You just never know until you ask.

And if the Bucs don’t ask, well, then they’re playing scared just like Dirk Koetter does on too many fourth downs.

Joe’s not saying the Bucs should trade Jameis, but Bucs officials should use good sense here and at least explore what’s out there. It’s the right thing to do on many levels.

Thanks, Joe. This took a lot for you to say, I’m sure. I’m just really sad that it hasn’t worked out with JW. Hopefully we can get something for him, because as of today, I just don’t think it’s going to work out with him moving forward.

  2. TheBucsAnthem Says:

    BRAVO!!!!!!!!!!!

  3. TheBucsAnthem Says:

…………..AND THANK YOU JOE for not starting this read with “Americas QB”

    because he never was

    and he’ll never be either

  4. JabooBuc Says:

Yes!!! As you have said on this site many times, Bill Bellicheat and the Patriots do not compound mistakes by waiting too long. Cut your losses and move on. Get what you can for him now and build for the future.

  5. thunderchunkyPA Says:

What could you get from him now? Selling at an all time low?

  6. EA Says:

    YEAAAH, Joe finally typed it!!!

  7. Lionel Says:

Yesssssssss an o line extra d line men cb Peterson

  8. NJBucsFan Says:

Looks like the logical Joe has keyboard access now.

  9. Ken Says:

It might wind up that Winston’s first and last passes as a Buc were pick-sixes.

  10. Dewey Selmon Says:

His first pass as a Buc was a pick 6 . his last pass as a Buc might be a pick 6. crazy

  11. Buc4life7878 Says:

Thank you joe for coming to your senses. Jason get rid of this fool.

  12. Pete I Says:

Lets hope that there is some adult among the Glazier kids who agrees with this more realistic Joe and not the America’s “garbage” QB Joe. Anything for Winston! What a perfect game that was today for nailing the JW coffin shut in Tampa, Fitz almost winning the game but the D losing it again, which should be the final nail in Kutters dismissal at some point. ANYTHING FOR WINSTON!!!!!!!!

  13. WalkdaPlank Says:

Who in their right mind would give up anything for Winston when they can have him for free next season after the Bucs let him walk?

  14. fudbucly Says:

As a long time Buc fan and JW fan, it hurts to say but I agree. we may be looking down the road and saying “What if” again, but damn we need to win now!

  15. Resurrection of Duff Says:

Yes is time to put down the pipe dream of Jameis because he is also a gunslinger will become the next Brett Farve.

Jason get some high picks from a desperate team. PRONTO!!!

Joe you deserve a beer for this one. The next one is on me. Salud

  16. Curse of Gruden Says:

A good idea, but trade Jameis for what? There will be no “desperate “ offers for this hot mess.

  17. TheBucsAnthem Says:

There’s NO GM in the league who would want to trade more than a 3rd rd pick for a former starting QB who is a turnover machine………are you freaking crazy JOE???????

Trade Jameis and McCoy to Arizona for Peterson and a 4th rd pick

    Make it happen Jason

  18. jerseybuc Says:

Pretty sure the rest of the league saw this game too. We have a decision to make in March. Pay him $22 million for one year, sign him to a long term deal, or cut him.
With the weapons we have we don’t need a QB to win the games single handily.
What we can’t afford is to play a QB who loses games that way.

  19. Resurrection of Duff Says:

Walk …. if you trade now you won’t have to fight for him with other teams in the off season.

    GOOD POINT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  21. SB Says:

I don’t see ANY WAY that Koetter can start JW next week.
In 4 games JW 5 TDs 10 INTs and 4 FUMBLES
    Fitz
In 4 games 13 TDS 4 INTS and 1 Fumble

    Nuff said.

  22. unbelievable Says:

Wow, Joe finally dropped the moniker.
Joe didn’t drop any moniker. Regulars know Joe uses it 92 percent of the time, not 100. –Joe

  23. SB Says:

Also……….I CAN”T Believe I forgot to set my picks in the JBF Pickem league. Dammmmit I was in Second place.

  24. unbelievable Says:

That had to be the worst game he ever played, with the possible exception of his first start.

Unacceptable and embarrassing. Those errors were unforced. All on him.

  25. Resurrection of Duff Says:

Jersey I’m sure the Glazers knew of that decision after the 4th int.

  26. EOP Youth Football Says:

Famous does not have 100% of what it takes. time to dump the “America’s QB” domain, Joe.

  27. D-Rome Says:

Do you guys still think the Jay-Miss non-believers are goons?

  28. unbelievable Says:

    SB that sucks man!

I realized every week that I’ve picked the Bucs to win, they lose. And every week I picked them to lose, they won.

So I decided to pick them to lose for the rest of the year. Obviously that didn’t work out…

  29. B-Rad Says:

Winston to Giants for a 2nd! McCoy to anyone for a 1st. Let’s draft a QB… Will Grier?

  30. LUVMYBUCS Says:

    Amen Joe

  31. Schlomiebarmitzvahcircumscissorstein Says:

If only Tim Tebow were given the same leniency. Makes you wonder. He never came close to making the f’ed up mistakes Jameis does. Hell, Jeff George wasn’t given the same leniency. To all of you Jameis defenders, may the flees of a thousand camels, infest your armpits.

  32. SB Says:

Howdy UB. I have picked them every game this yr so………..
Today I forgot to pick until now so the best I can go is 2 and 12

  33. SB Says:

Also Nice article Joe. Think it was spot on.

  34. Resurrection of Duff Says:

Jameis has probably realized today he is in the Not For Long league.

  35. Ben the GA Buc Says:

I’ll bet the Glazers don’t tell Koetter/Licht who needs to play ..

  36. Sweeptheleg Says:

ROD MUNCH? Where are you? Earth to ROD MUNCH!

    Ndog? Come out of hiding.

    How about all FSU homers?

Welcome to reality. We’ve been waiting for you.

  37. Robert Says:

    Damn joe

For an expert your a little late to the party

    Just sayin

  38. Radman Says:

Give you a bag of chips and a grape soda for him. A small bag of chips.

  39. Robert Says:

    Karma is a hitch

    Said Jameis, crab man, Winston

  40. AfrikaThaRapper Says:

I am so proud of you, Joe. You finally saw the errors in your way and decided to change. I’m a JW supporter myself but let’s get serious. Not personal, business baby…strictly business.

  41. AlteredEgo Says:

I didn’t realize there was a trade agreement between the American Alliance of American Football and the NFL…..

  42. Buc50 Says:

Longtime Winston fan…time to cut our losses. I’ve had enough.

  43. Resurrection of Duff Says:

Well Smitty is gone. Now we wait for Jameis fate. Let’s keep chopping the wood. Lol

  44. NashvilleBuc Says:

It’s sad, but it’s time. Fans (customers) want to watch competitive football. Jameis can’t deliver it, for whatever reason. He just delivers dread-filled excitement because we love it when he makes plays but we know he’s eventually going to give it away. Fitzpatrick is what he is… but fans want to root for the underdog…. and he (except for 1 quarter) hasn’t let us down this season. It’s time for Fitz. Sorry, Jameis… better luck elsewhere.

  45. Troy Says:

Licht can’t do it. Admitting this and trading him out of town seals Licht’s fate along with the staff. It’ll never happen. They’d all rather play the end of year lottery and hope their numbers (W&L) are good enough for another year. Spoiler alert – they won’t be.

  46. stpetebucsfan Says:

Kudos Joe we all know that was tough. And in fairness there is NO clear answer because of all the variables involved.

I know like me you read Thomas Bassenger’s work at the Times.
Today he wrote a detailed analysis of trade Jameis…keep Jameis.

As always with Bassenger he’s very objective and he doesn’t really present any clear answer but rather all the questions that now face the Glazers. There are good reasons to trade JW…but there are as many good reasons to keep him. It’s not a no brainer at all.

IMHO we have reached a critical point in THIS season. Do we REALLY think we still have a chance to reach the playoffs?

I’m serious guys…I know after today’s game that’s seems like an absurd question…but our D is improving…and who knows how long we can produce Fitzmagic. I do not see us reaching the playoffs with Jameis but that is not the same as giving up on him yet.

IMHO JW does seem like the best “long term” solution to our QB issues for many here…I’m not sure I still agree but I have an open mind.

But where my mind has changed is who plays this year. If we really believe we can get to the playoffs it needs to be Fitz because JW is just not ready. If we think Jameis still has a LOT of upside then perhaps we have to ride it out with #3 and realize we’re still rebuilding.

  47. unbelievable Says:

Lol what trade value do you think he has right now? A 5th rounder?

    🙄🙄🙄

  48. LakeLand Says:

I doubt if they can get a 5th round draft pick for Jameis

    Too much offseason baggage
    Too little upside

  49. unbelievable Says:

92% of the time? Haha I guess I’m not a regular around here then.

  50. Wesley Says:

He has to be traded, he’s clearly not part of the future and his contract expires at end of season. At least get something for him.

  51. IsrBuc Says:

No one came to any sense. There arw TWO joes out there. The other joe is still scrambling for his self and professional respect.

  52. Bucs fan #7423 Says:

    Get rid of Jamies

  53. Wesley Says:

Oh and cut the friggin kicker already!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  54. IsrBuc Says:

No use posting this without telling what the min price you take for him. Asking is free and easy to say. Not impressed.

  55. El_Buc941 Says:

Let’s trade JW for Derek Carr. Or the jaguars and Dante Fowler and a 3rd round pick.

  56. NPRSageBoy Says:

Trade him, release him, whatever. Time to wash our collective hands of this Trainwreck and move on.

  58. AlteredEgo Says:

I hope Jameis doesn’t fall off the wagon tonight and end up in the HCJ…that would end any possible trade notions

  59. Pete I Says:

Can we trade Winston and one of the Joe’s? You know the one I mean, the other Joe that didn’t write this article. ANYTHING FOR WINSTON! Who cares what round its in just get ANYTHING FOR WINSTON.

  60. SilverBuc Says:

Yes please!!! Trade Jameis to save his career! This sorry fanbase deserves to wallow in the Den of Depression for decades to come! 😀

  61. Buc4evr Says:

I hate to say it but Jameis shot himself in the foot today and reloaded. However, I don’t see anything being done until the end of the year when the whole team is re-tooled from the top down. Koetter is also as good as gone after today. Jameis has become trade bait. Painful.

  62. Pete I Says:

Trade Winston for crab legs or a year of free UBER rides. About what he’s worth. ANYTHING FOR WINSTON!!!!!

  63. Pete I Says:

Stop the bleeding with any cost. Trade him. If no one wants to trade, give him as a GIFT.
Is going to be A Trojan Horse gift. 99% of the people here think we can’t get any good trade for him….
so why we should keep him!!!!
    Gift him!

  70. El_Buc941 Says:

Joe how’s this trade for you….Jameis to the jaguars for a 3rd and Dante Fowler and we roll the dice with Ryan Griffin and we sign Fitzpatrick to another 2yrs. I like what I seen out of Ryan Griffin in preseason and I’m 100% behind Fitzpatrick for backup. Jameis has had 4yrs to fix inaccuracy issues and become the leader and still no playoffs…I understand it’s not all his fault but he hasn’t helped either. This game should’ve been a blur out if 2 of the 4 office were Touchdowns

  71. SilverBuc Says:

Triggering y’all without even trying!! LMAO!! 😀

  72. Sweeptheleg Says:

  73. BrianBucs Says:

    Nobody would want Winston.
Bucs would be lucky to get a box of football’s for him

  74. Jeagan1999 Says:

There’s nothing left to do. He is not the answer at QB for this team. 73 turnovers in 48 games is not acceptable. If you can get a reasonable pick for him, why not?

Some of us on this board were against drafting Jameis in the first place, but this isn’t about “I told you so’s”! It’s about what’s best for the team, and moving on. The Jameis experiment has been a failure!

  75. Ndog Says:

Sweep you are a IDIOT period. First of all I have been posting all day and second of all I am thrilled that we have so many crappy fans like yourself that cheers for our team, um my team, to fail. So congrats you got what you wanted he fell apart now what we start all over, that sounds exciting. Man you are truly a fool!

  76. LakeLand Says:

    El_Buc941

You actually believe that Tom Coughlin would give up a 3rd and Dante Fowler for Jameis Winston?

  77. Troy Says:

I’m going to say it and there’s reasoning here. Winston isn’t getting traded. I’ve already explained why. I’m betting we’ll have a new organization top to bottom next year. Winston is signed through next year. Maybe a new regime can help America’s Turnover Machine play better; correct his mistakes. It happened with Stafford in Detroit. I just wouldn’t anoint Winston the starter next year. I’d make it an open competition. If Winston fails, and our qb situation is horrible, we draft for the position in 2020.

  78. Rayjay1122 Says:

Trade Winston for next year’s Mr. Irrelevant pick. That seems fair.

Trading Jameis Winston is the only responsible thing to do

  83. Bucsace Says:

Hey…….Lovie Smith needs a QB at Illinois!!!!!

  84. BigMacAttack Says:

I was a big Licht fan but he really blew it in this draft. I gave him for all of his other bad picks, but enough is enough. The new GM search needs to start now. Koetter sucks but I give him props for saying enough is enough. He should have Winston sooner. He never should have pulled Fitz in the first place. His record would probably be 5-2 instead of 3-4. But Koettet earned a few more games today by benching that idiot. $20 million/year? Yeah good luck with that Shameis.

  85. Duthsty Rhothdes Says:

no one wants injuries to any of the qbs left playinf today and monday BUT that would elevate jameis worth

  86. Destinjohnny Says:

I bet we can get a 5th for him

  87. El_Buc941 Says:

@Lakeland if Jerry Jones is capable of giving up a 1st for an unproven WR Tom Coughlin would pull the trigger on this trade. If not a 3rd than a 5th.

  88. SilverBuc Says:

Damnit Winston sucks, trade him to Jacksonville for Bortles!!

  89. Destinjohnny Says:

Who is going to want to pay him 20 yes 20 million next year?

No one will trade for him!!! Who needs more turnovers?

  91. Pete Says:

    Jameis = Jay Cutler

  92. cw_buc_crazy Says:

  93. Destinjohnny Says:

He was tagged you have to pay that man if u pick him up

  94. Malcolm-Reynolds Says:

Well guys, I have finally come to see that all our hoping and wishing that Jameis would get over his turnover ways and light it up this year are down the drain. I know there are a number of “I told you so-ers” out there that are ecstatic that their hatred of Jameis the person AND the player are vindicated. I for one am just sad because as a Buccaneer fan I hope that WHOEVER is under center for MY team plays well. So NOW what do we do? I guess we MOVE ON. The sad truth of life in the NFL is that we WILL be starting over again this off-season. New coach, new GM, and almost certainly a new QB. Stable franchises in the NFL don’t keep starting over like this every 3-4 years. I guess I just don’t get the joy some posters get with what has gone down. Is being RIGHT more enjoyable than seeing YOUR TEAM WIN?? Perhaps some GENIUS poster that is happy we are starting over again could apply for the SOON to be vacant GM position could apply and try their hand at it? It seems like an easy job by some second-guesses.

  95. stvcl Says:

Yes…Joe I agree 100% He may go to another team and tear it up but he will never do it in Tampa. Trade him for the highest draft pick you can get. Let Fitz start the rest of the way and let’s see who’s available in next years draft.

  96. SchwiftyBuc Says:

Yup. This was without a doubt Jameis’ worst game as a Buc. No excuses for turning the ball over 4 times in a game as a 4th year QB, in a winnable game, against a sub-par defense.

Really really sucks, because I’ve been rooting for his success ever since we drafted him. And he really is so tremendously talented. That’s what makes this so frustrating, is that he is actually shown himself to be capable of being a very, very good QB in this league. But for some reason he can’t do it even remotely consistently.

Horrible games like this wouldn’t hurt so bad, or confuse me so much if it weren’t for games like his 5 TD performance against the eagles as a rookie. Or his nearly flawless game against the Chiefs in his second year, or His games against Buffalo, Green Bay, Atlanta, and Carolina when he was healthy in 2017, or his play during the 2018 preseason which was the best in football in nearly perfect.

I just don’t get it. How could a young dude with so much god given ability be so up and down.

  97. Reality-is-a-Beotch Says:

It won’t matter what bucs do it will be the wrong decsion…. nothing but basement titles are in the future. Bucs are simply the most dysfunctional sports franchise on planet earth

  98. JWBUCS Says:

Stable franchises don’t start over because they are stable. We are NOT.
So for the sake of been ” stable” we should watch these games…. that are become painful??!!
Busc during the years had made some bad decisions, but they have show willing to depart from them. That has been always a GOOD decision.
Look were are all people that they fired during all these years…..they still SUCKS….
Time to do it again, until we find the right one.
No more pain watching football, we got enough…

  103. SilverBuc Says:

Trade JW3 to Oakland, give them our 1st round pick, send Carr to New Orleans for their 6th round pick!! The Bucs gonna won it all with Fitzmagic!!

  104. BigMacAttack Says:

Fitz is playing the best ball he ever has. We don’t need another QB because Griffin can back him up. In another year or two when the Clemson QB comes out, trade up and draft him, or tank it, whatever it takes. Fitz has a few good years left, maybe more. The Bucs need a new secondary coach now. They need a new GM and staff now. I hate losing and who knew Jameis would suck so bad after his excellent preseason. Koetter made a huge mistake replacing Fitz with Shameis in Chicago. Most of us knew it at the time and the problem was the O line was being man handled by Mack and Company. Koetter has sure had his share of mistakes but Licht is the one who for the most part put him in this mess.

  105. Tom Edrington Says:

But The Joes said Jameis “is an elite talent”…….have they been lying to us???

  106. sandwichman Says:

props to the Joes for admitting the obvious. they were were wrong for trying to spin those crap posts on defending JW. He needs to go! But no way in heck what I want the dude as QB for my team. thank you for admitting he is not QB of our future!

  107. Anonymous Says:

I would do a reset like gruden and start over

  108. sandwichman Says:

    @Tom Edrington

he is not elite at all. he couldve been but he isnt and I am DONE defending him! CUT or TRADE HIM NOW!

  109. BigMacAttack Says:

Go every good pick Licht has made, he’s made 3 bad ones. For every good free agent Licht has signed, he’s signed 3 bad ones. Beau Allen is garbage. Curry is hurt and delivered no results. Ryan Jensen is doing a solid job. JPP has been Licht’s best move since he’s been here. Why didn’t Licht trade McCoy before the draft? For a team that relies on analytics, chances of GMC getting hurt early in the season was over 90%. Many of us saw it but he couldn’t and blew another 12-15 million or whatever they waste on him. His value is way down now. Licht sucks.

  110. Tc Says:

I would trade everyone for draft picks and do a reset like gruden

  111. Getaclue Says:

Stop with this playing Griffin non sense. Fitz needs to start while we are still in contention. Griffin can play when we are mathematically eliminated

  112. Tc Says:

We will have to wait another 50 years for a franchise Qb like the jets. They don’t grow on trees.

  113. tgregs Says:

Trade America’s Thug if anyone wants him. Josh Freeman II

  114. PSLBob Says:

The season is over. It’s been over for a while. No way this D can get the Bucs to the playoffs, much less contend. So, forget the Jameis-Fitz debate. Why not start Ryan Griffen next week and see what he’s got. He knows the system, but just lacks the experience. If he stinks up the place over the next 4-6 games, then bring Fitz back in. If he’s competitive, then maybe he’s our guy. That strategy will dictate what the Bucs have to do next year in the draft.

  115. cw_buc_crazy Says:

We should except Fitz as a Package, and he is much better package that JW.
Healthy Fitz is going to be OK for us this year and next. Get a decent QB, not a joker and prep him for the future. Reminder; we won the SB with Brad Johnson, he was not elite, but average. The team wins games not a joker QB.
    Trade or Gift JW.

  116. NewTampaChris Says:

Those other teams already have QBs that suck. Why would they trade for another?

  117. FireMikeSmith_orDie Says:

It’s too bad for JW. I was one of his biggest advocates the first couple years, but I’ve made my frustrations known numerous times. He built his entire brand name off of confidence, and since being suspended 3 games & all of the crap that he had to deal with, I’m 100% certain his confidence is absolutely shot. That was apparent from his body language, not just this game but since the Bears game.

Without confidence, whatever good things he was able to do, even that is all gone. He has crashed & burned at the hands of the Bucs. He simply cannot see enough of the field nor can he get the ball out of his hands on time & accurately on a consistent basis. Perhaps there is a system out there that can benefit from his skills, but he will have to up his skills no matter where he goes.

The Jameis Winston Project should be officially over after today.

  118. SFNJ Says:

Take a fourth from Jacksonville. They don’t have the balls to pull that trigger.

  119. JT Cross Says:

Been saying this since last November when the Uber thing came public, and Jameis didn’t man up then. He’s regressed on and off the field. He is a BS artist. He is smart in that he knows the right answers. He is stupid in that he does what he wants to do because he seems to think he knows better than others like his HC and GM…and owners. He wants to win. But he can’t. He won’t. And he’s no leader. I think the Glazers got it earlier this year. They just let Jameis confirm it to everyone else. And finally, Joe gets it. Jameis has stopped moving the needle. Really, he stopped moving it early last year. Judas Priest. Some people finally get it.

  120. Greg Says:

Joe I am actually tearing up a little bit. Thank you for not using his normal nickname. Thank you for admitting that it something the Buccaneers should at least be open to.

  121. Bird Says:

    Sliverbuc is hiding

    Is actually webster

Dear Jameis. I love it when you wear those tight football paints

    Love Webster
    Xoxoxo

  122. Greg Says:

I believe the buccaneer should try to trade Jameis but unfortunately I think he has absolutely no value. Anyone that gets him will only have him for the second half of the season and then have to make a $20 million decision on them. Nobody is willing to do that for Jameis Most likely he will hit free agency and someone will give him a minimal prove it type of deal

  123. Bird Says:

    Silver buc is web$ter

  124. Sweeptheleg Says:

    Silverbuc is an idiot.

  125. TonyC Says:

I would surmise that his issues are “above the ears” and that’s why he is so inconsistent. He’s just not a good on the field decision maker. He “panics’ and the results are impulsive throws which lead to; “you got it’ turnovers.

  126. TonyC Says:

Winston does have trade value and actually may work with another OC or HC. I’d bet he could be moderately successful somewhere else. I’m not a JW fan in the least bit but this Offensive staff sucks as well.

  127. BigMacAttack Says:

    NewTampaChris
    nailed it. Wins the internet

  128. Jameis Almighty! Says:

Trade Fitz and DJax.. get some picks for the incoming GM to improve the team with Jameis as its leader.

  129. Buccfan37 Says:

If Fitz gets injured or plays bad put Griffin in to see his potential. If he stinks bad put Winston back in. All of the QB’s get a shot.

I’m going to say it and there’s reasoning here. Winston isn’t getting traded … Winston is signed through next year.
    ———-
Technically … the 5th year is up in the air, it’s a club option whether or not they pay it … they could trade or release him at the end of the year without paying a dime on that 5th year.

  131. stpetebucsfan Says:

I’m not sure I get some of you guy. After…in many cases justifiably trashing some of our players you say trade them and then create absurd scenarios.

Yeah that’s the ticket…trade GMC for two first rounders…DJAX for another first rounder and Jameis for three first rounders!!!

I mean could we at least get a little more realistic. I like GMC but he’s no longer in his prime…and Jameis? I get that Bortles is feeling the same lack of love from the Jags as Jameis does here…but weren’t’ the Jags in the playoffs last year….at least Bortles has seen a playoff game which is more than JW.

Seriously what makes anybody believe JAX thinks JW would be a major improvement?

Our franchise QB now has our franchise in deep deep dooty!

  132. Troy Says:

True Ben, but I don’t know what they do if they cut him. I guess sign somebody like Bridgewater.

  133. EEK Says:

    For whom?
    For what?
    He’s radioactive.
    He’s not a starter.
The time to trade was last offseason.

  134. Bucrazy Says:

Any info Joe’s on the shouting and expletives during the post game locler room

  135. Bucsace Says:

    Jameis is Lovie’s revenge!!!

  136. __TGH__ Says:

I’ve been watching Dexter. He talks about watching the light go out of peoples eyes as they die. Pretty sure I saw that in Cleveland today. It wasn’t Jameis.

  137. __TGH__ Says:

Cleveland, Cincinnati… you know what I mean.

  138. Oneilbucs Says:

I guess Jamies is the only quarter back to throw 4 ints Payton never did that before. Elie never did that Bret Farve never did that ad well . You can say race card all y’all want but history has shown that a black quarterback can’t have games like this only white quarterbacks can . Jamies first time ever doing this and now they say move on from him . Fizpatrick threw 6 ints and y’all say he should start next year. That’s the difference between black quarterback and white quarterbacks. It’s more forgiving for the white quarter backs. Elie had a lot of games like this, Bret Farve, Andrew Luck have and no one ever said cut them but fizpatrick was trash for 8 different teams and still gets chances that’s truth not race card. Got facts to back it up .

  139. passthebuc Says:

Gruden might have extra picks. It would be a good wake up call for his QB

  140. BucsBandit Says:

    LOL ONEILBUCS!!!!!!!

Hysterical that you’re trying to play the RACE CARD with Winston!

It’s not about him throwing 4 INTs today…

It’s about 10 INTs in 13 quarters. Your boy is a TURNOVER MACHINE. In 4 years he has more combined INTs and fumbles lost than any QB.

  141. Mike Johnson Says:

The only way we get a 2nd rder for Jameis is if some team is truly desperate. And nobody is quite there yet. There may be a team or 2 willing to give up a 3rd rder.
I got Jameis stayin here for now. I luv Fitz. But if you look at his career. He has a penchant forplaying 1 to 3 good games and then..its straight up Mayday or mayham. We will need jameis to finish the season. And he won’t be as bad as he was against Cincy. That, was his worst game thus far. And every QB in the NFl has had a game like that. We got to much invested in him for now.

  142. adam from ny Says:

swap him out for patrick peterson and that’s it…if that’s even possible…shameis’ stock is uber low…and dirty!

  143. Jeagan1999 Says:

No one will trade for Jameis. Why would they? The Bucs will “deactivate/demote” him for the remainder of the season, then cut him after the season ends…with no financial hit to the team. Jameis will be free to peddle his wares to any team as a free agent….but he ain’t getting $20 mil per year…not after his performance this year!

The Bucs will draft a new QB next April, and hopefully Fitz will be re-signed to mentor our new signal caller through 2019.

  144. AncientBuc Says:

Here we are again, we will dump young talent for poor play, take a stab and overdraft some kid, blow out the coaches, saddle a new coach with a rookie, rinse, repeat. Same results. Jameis has lost this team 4 games by himself including yesterday. The rest is on his coaches and his team. He’s part of it, of course, but ho wmany times has he left a lead to have the defense lose it. Kind of like yesterday, Fitz gave his team a chance and his team let the Bengals drive and score. Football is never about one guy. It is about leadership and this team’s leadership is bad including Jameis. Coaches are not detailed enough to win. They get yards, but the little things players do kill them. Who is worse, 3 or Warhop? Mike Smith is gone, Warhop should be next. Licht? His talent has not panned out overall, but it is early. Koetter? His players aren’t accountable.

  145. Buccaneer Bonzai Says:

    Dimwits.

  146. Kent Kleist Says:

I’ve been a winston fan from day one but trade him to the little egomaniac gruden for carr. Gruden thinks he’s a qb guru. Let him prove it for once for all. Both of these guys are frauds.

  147. Duke Silver Says:

America’s Quarterback, Jameis Winston is on the edge of the plank with the sword tip against his spine! It’s a long way down, JW… Hey is that Josh Freeman jersey I see in that shark’s mouth…

  148. over him Says:

So if we let Jameis play and he gets hurt we are on the line for 20 million. Set him on the bench or cut him now and we are on the line for nothing.

I doubt you could get anything except a 6th or 7th round pick for him as he will be available for free in March.

We don’t need a QB who continues to panic under pressure. He did at FSU and he does now. How many times did you see him throw it away yesterday???? The announcers had it dead to rights that Jameis wants to make a play every down and won’t accept defeat by simply throwing it out of bounds or at someones feet.

  149. Nick2 Says:

For some reason alot of players have to leave Tampa to go onto be succesful. Steve Young, Dilfer, Doug Williams and now maybe Jameis. I am all for Jameis to succeed but perhaps he just feels too much pressure after the interceptions and Uber transgressions. A change of scenery will do well for him but if there is ANY way for Jameis to right his ship I would love for him to do hit here!!!

  150. sj_bucsfan Says:

Even my son who has been the Biggest supporter of J W from the begining, said that he could no longer defend him. Trade him, (let him go have his success elsewhere as that has happend so many times before) get something for him before it’s too late…

  151. TOM Says:

Saying Winston is America’s QB is the same as saying Dallas is America’s team. Both BULL CRAP

  152. Doug Says:

DUMP Jameis—draft Eason in 2 years or Fromm or Grier. Put JW money into O line and fix the secondary!! BRAD Johnson won the superbowl with tampa for crissakes—build up the lines and the D

  153. Mveal2006 Says:

Ok Joe I appreciate you admitting this. Obviously you and I have disagreed on QB for many years. I’m not always right but when I am I drink dos equis!

Your still good at your craft. Me, not so much.

Now you are free to call your shot. Help these guys get there. They have a lot of good and so do you

And please move that dolmsn ad that blocks phone posters

  154. Dano220 Says:

I have been an ardent supporter of Jameis, not anymore. However, we may get more for JW in a trade next year around draft time. This franchise is officially in rebuild mode and it will be another 3-5 years before we can even sniff the playoffs.

  155. King Buc17 Says:

I don’t think we could trade with anyone but NE, NYG or Raiders.
1.Raiders – I know Gruden would love the challenge to correct Jamies, plus he would give one of his first or straight up for Carr as he wants him gone. Plus, a change of scenery might be good for both QB’s. He might actually pay a 1st rounder to not have to train a rookie. As a Buc and Gruden fan, I would hate to see this but then I would expect us to draft one for the future in 2020 even if we got Carr. I would like to see Carr in Koetters Offense!!!! Plus he is only $25MM/yr for the next 4 years!!!! bargain….
    2. NE – Winston might benefit from a year behind Brady and Beilichick might retire after Brady retires in 2020. He might give us a second for his heir apparent.
    3. NYG – not a bad football team if they could get the ball to OBJ more. Jameis might develop with balanced running attack. They might give us a 1st or early second if they aren’t picking in the top five with a shot at Herbert….. start winning.
Don’t want Eli as we have our starter for this and next season in Fitz. Groom our next QB and lets see what Ryan Griffin can do in this offensive machine!!!! Don’t mess with that side of the ball…..
    FIX THE D
