Officially An ACL Tear For Kwon, Says ESPN

October 22nd, 2018

Joe wrote about this yesterday, but now there’s an official element to it. Adam Schefter of ESPN is Twittering today that Kwon Alexander tore his ACL in the Browns game.

It was his left knee.

Joe wrote more about the ramifications here, contract and otherwise.

    Noooo : (

  2. TOM EDRINGTON Says:

    And Joe(s) talking playoffs?

  3. Robert Says:

Hate to hear that for anyone, let alone a football player, let alone his contract situation

    Hope he gets well soon.

Someone else said he’ll come back next year and start for the Pats for 10 years. That would be a nice fallback. wish him well.

  4. zwh99 Says:

Hope kendall beckwith comes back soon

  5. nate s Says:

If winston doesnt throw a pick the next series Kwon gets hurt.. Its simple bench winston were wasting jacksons talents..

  6. AfrikaThaRapper Says:

Damn. Wishing you the best, Kwon. Go Bucs !!!!

  7. Not there yet Says:

Well he’s in trouble especially if it’s true he turned down the offer on the table. He’s definitely not a 10 mil a year middle linebacker, did he not realize they could easily turn to beckwith and licht had all the leverage? Now he’ll have to take even less on a short term deal while he rehabs or he’s just out

  8. Buc believer Says:

As a great man once said… “This is the business we have chosen!” The great Hyman Roth from Godfather part II

  9. Rod Munch Says:

    That stinks.

Hopefully the Bucs can do a one-year deal and see how he recovers, because he should be around for a long time. I don’t think anyone will give him the $10m he wants, he’s not in the same class as David (who I think is one of the very very top LBs in football), but he’s certainly a very valuable player and a one year bridge while trying to do something long term should be in the works.

Also keep in mind the cap keeps going up and up and up every year, so while $10m sounds like a huge amount, if the cap keeps going up in another 5 years it’s not, so a contract that is more backloaded might get there without busting the cap for the team.

One thing is for sure and that is that his teammates love him and he brings a lot to the defense and never puts in a half-a$@ effort. Is he a top LB in the NFL – is he an All-Pro? No. But is he a fringe Pro-Bowl level guy year in and year out? Yes.

  10. Mike Says:

Wow- heard Cichy torn ACL too in same game-

I guess this weeks concept of going forward in order to stop the opposing offense was too much of an adjustment on their knees.

Terrible news! Get well soon guys!

  11. Dewey Selmon Says:

Can anyone verify Cichy? and is it the same knee as he blew out in college?

  12. Easy Says:

This sucks for Kwon and Cichy. hope for a peedy recovery for both guys.

  13. AlteredEgo Says:

    Here comes Joe Dirt !

  14. rrsrq Says:

Go get James Harrison out of retirement, he may not be a MLB but…

  15. rrsrq Says:

Isn’t Shelton Quarles in the building?

  16. Pickgrin Says:

All of a sudden our “strength” is a weakness…

Sucks for Kwon. Sorry man. Bad timing for a major injury in a contract year…

Sucks to hear the same about Cichy. He was playing really well on special teams.

Hopefully rehab goes well and Kwon can be full go for next Training Camp – if we can get him re-signed that is.

I think I remember hearing back in Sept that Beckwith would be eligible to return after the 6th game. Hope to hear soon that he is cleared to play and back on the 53 man roster as a starting point.

Joe Dirt is sure to be activated this week I’m guessing….

  17. LakeLand Says:

    First Deion Jones now Kwon

  18. Kobe Faker Says:

Damn shame. Kwon was playing inspired at yesterdays game.

    ugly timing with his contract.

*I hope every agent insists on every player to get insurance on their final year before the contract year

this game is ruthless…on and off the field

  19. DislocatedBucsFan Says:

    Joe Dirt!!!!!

  20. Rod Munch Says:

Go watch that long Mayfield run in the 4th quarter and watch Taylor, I literally thought he pulled a hamstring because he was so slow to respond and change direction. I know Joe isn’t putting any faith in Beckwith, for legit reasons, but hopefully he can get back and step into the lineup at MLB fairly quickly, which seems like his natural position.

  21. pelbuc Says:

Well, that means adding LBs to the needed group of draft picks along with DBs, DEs, Guards and OTs next year.

  22. Duthsty Rhothdes Says:

send djax to eagles for nigel bradham and a draft pick

  23. 813bucboi Says:

    damn….that’s sucks…..pay the man!!!!!

    #NOEXCUSESIN2018!!!!…#PRESSURESONTHECOACHES!!!!….GO BUCS!!!!

  24. SOEbuc Says:

Ughhhhh…F#ck. So now whats the situation with LB for the rest of the year if Cichy has a torn ACL also. WE NEED YOU KENDEL!!!

  25. adam from ny Says:

joe dirt is back and i think we shall be pleasantly surprised if he gets playing time…he was ready for the roster when he got injured…

Cichy might be screwed too because i think he had major knee issues in college if i recall correctly…

    #GetWellKwon #GetSwollKwon

  26. SchwiftyBuc Says:

Yeah and guess what else, Cichy is out for the season with a torn acl as well.

Can’t say I didn’t see this coming. Made it very clear numerous times after the draft was over that I just flat out could not understand why if Jason Licht had his eyes on a Linebacker, why would it be an Injury prone guy who was limited in coverage, when he could have gotten an absolute stud of a linebacker in Shaquem Griffen in the 4th round. A steal of a pick in my mind.

Considering that the guy we did take in the 4th round, is an incredibly undersized safety who, granted plays with a ton of heart, is also limited in coverage. I was doubly confused as to why the hell we didn’t just take Shaq, who makes up for his missing hand by being an elite athlete who makes plays all over the field.

Ronald Jones (who I do think will end up being very good btw) over Josh Jackson and Kerryon Johnson?

MJ Stewart over Donte Jackson or Derrius Guice or Isiah Oliver?

    Jordan Whitehead over Shaq Griffin?

Alex Cappa over Mark Walton or Josh Sweat or Maurice Hurst?

Licht made some pretty good picks this year like he tends to do, but he also had some confusingly bad picks as well. Despite all the good players he’s picked up during his tenure here, I honestly don’t even think I’d be upset if we chose to move on from him after this season if we go 7-9 like I expect us to.

Just had too many bad picks in 2016, some bad headscratcher picks this year, and his consistently subpar track record in free agency, like this year when he gave a 35 year old corner $8 million instead of using that cash to sign a true number 1 corner like Trumaine Johnson. Or just flat out not signing Eric Reid when he was a clear upgrade over Chris Conte. Or not signing Bashaud Breeland and instead choosing to sign a literally who in Marcus Williams.

I like Licht I really do, but if we aren’t going to hire Bill Cowher, Bill Polian, or heck maybe even Tony Dungy to over see him, then I’d rather him and the Bucs just part ways.

  27. SchwiftyBuc Says:

    @Adam From

NY Riley Bullough is not now, and will never be a good NFL linebacker for any team. He just isn’t smart enough or athletic enough.

  28. SchwiftyBuc Says:

Literally the only reason anyone knows Riley Bulloughs name or gives a crap about him is because they saw him on TV and fell in love with the bum just because HK made a story out of him.

  29. Mike Johnson Says:

NExt man Up baby. No excuses. Plug in that replacement and lets go. See you next season Qwon. Who..wants an opportunity..to Shine!

  30. OneBucPerson Says:

Hate to see it but now it’s next man up. On the positive note should we bring him back he won’t be in any position to demand a big money deal, if anything I’d be shocked if the Bucs don’t give him a 1 year prove it deal.

  31. Defense Rules Says:

@Mike Johnson … “NExt man Up baby. No excuses. Plug in that replacement and lets go”. At what point Mike do JBFers say “Guess what, next man up really sucks. We’re screwed.” Reality is that Bucs can’t keep guys healthy … they keep getting injured.

Are we snake-bit? Maybe. Maybe it’s just bad luck. OR … maybe it goes deeper than that. Maybe we’re signing too many guys who have a history of injury? (Jack Cichy certainly did. As have a number of other Bucs). OR … maybe we’re signing too many ‘lightweights’? (Almost all of our LBs are fast but smallish, as our many in our Secondary). OR … maybe our training camps are too soft, and that leads to more injuries during the season. Don’t know what the reasons are at this point, but the Bucs historically sure do seem to have more than their share of injuries. And especially on defense it seems.

  32. Dave Says:

Every team has to deal with injuries. It’s a reality of the sport (and most sports).

  33. Firrrreee Licht Says:

Fire Jason Licht Immediately. This is Licht’s fault. Trashcan GM. Derwin James should be on the this team.

  34. Firrrreee Licht Says:

Next man up, lol. Heart is heart. Bullough is a cute story but he doesn’t belong on this team… Jason Licht pet project. What a hack of a GM. Booooooooo

  35. Firrrreee Licht Says:

Bucs medical staff needs to be fired. I can’t say this for sure, but check the credentials Joe… any quacks on the staff? Love to see the credentials. Too many injuries. And they let Jameis play hurt last year in a lost season. Joe Bucs Fans have a voice. Fire Licht. Cut Koetter

  36. RustyRhinos Says:

Hey Firrrreee Light, can we just fire you?

  37. T REX Says:

    Here’s to a speedy recovery.

  38. Firrrreee Licht Says:

RustyRhino is a Jason’s a Licht Burner Account!
