No Scapegoats

October 1st, 2018

Don’t even try to use him as a scapegoat.

Jenna Laine doesn’t want to hear it. And she damn near is daring the Bucs to use it.

Laine, of ESPN, believes a built-in crutch ready to be pulled out of the file cabinet to excuse the inexcusable Mike Smith defense yesterday would be to cite that the Bucs are banking on two rookie cornerbacks.

Laine believes that crutch doesn’t fly, especially in yesterday’s game.

Defensively, there was no pressure and receivers were wide open. A young, banged-up secondary can’t be the excuse against a second-year quarterback.

Bingo! It’s not like the Bucs were facing Pat Mahomes. They were facing a guy who, entering the game, had more picks than touchdowns and never threw more than two touchdowns in a game.

As Joe has written already, the Bucs aren’t the only NFL team relying on two rookie corners and that team doesn’t have a garbage pass defense like the Bucs.

No more excuses.

yeah, its clear this scheme is a joke. The 5 game run in ’16 was a mirage.

  2. ndog Says:

You know the problem with all of us fans is we actually think the people over at One Buc Place care.

    News flash they don’t.

  3. mike Says:

Looked like a training camp practice for the bears. Mitch had no one around him and recievers were running so free. I have never seen D this bad except for maybe the last days of the morris era. How do you have a quality front 4 and talented LBs and play like that. A complete joke. The D fell apart the last 4 games of the gruden era and has been pretty much trash ever since.

  4. SOEbuc Says:

Thanks Jenna for putting more stress on the Bucs to sling Smitty out of town by catapult.

  5. Evolvingbucsfan Says:

3rd year of M Smiths defense, 3rd year of same results and getting worse.

  6. DBS Says:

We already had somebody try that on here. Sorry. Excuses are over.

  7. Lamarcus Says:

You mean Msmith is still here?

  8. unbelievable Says:

    #FireMikeSmith

  9. JayBucBoi Says:

And it’s unlikely that he will have another game this year where he throws for more than two touchdowns. He is: Mitch Trubisky.

  10. Curse of Gruden Says:

    Fire Mike Smith now!!!!!!

  11. orlbucfan Says:

MSmith has dementia–at least, early stages of it. The D was beyond embarrassing. It was humiliating. I kept hoping the players would get fed up with the play calling and revolt. That is my hope in this bye-week. The O is maturing. Koetter has to stay here to finish the job. Smith doesn’t. Thank gawd for the bye. The team is 2-2. A shoutout to BBonzai. 🙂 This site is getting too negative. Where are the actual fans?

  12. Rick Says:

What if Licht and co. bet the farm that they would have a top three dline before the draft. With all the money they poured into it they must have thought it a certainty top three group. They’ll draft rookies to fill most of the secondary BUT, with a top 3 front seven we can afford to start that many rookies. Just a thought. Dumb idea really, wouldn’t surprise me though. 🤔

  13. Bucsfanman Says:

A part of me is just sickened by the notion that there is a chance that Smitty will still be coaching this team!
I’ve never seen anything like it! 3 straight years this has been one of THEE worst defenses in the league, how does Smith have a job?! Seriously?! It’s worse every year.

  14. Eric Says:

Good thing we locked Smith up with that big contract so other teams would swarm over to sign him to be their head coach.

Which was the prevailing thinking right here. “Most important acquisition of the off season”

Just in case everyone has forgotten.

  15. Buc1987 Says:

    Joe….Eric torched you!

    Say ouch.

  16. Tampabaybucfan Says:

We had plenty of veteran players on the field…..they all got torched…..it wasn’t the rookies fault…..

  17. i like gunslingers Says:

tick tock tick tock mike smith the clocks running you incompetent, overpaid ass clown do the right thing for the team, do the right thing for the fans, and do the right thing for your friendship with koetter, it’s going to be to hard for the man to fire you and the result is you will drown your buddy trying to save you, so step up to the podium and resign for the sake of all involved, if you have a recommendation for a successor so be it, i don’t think anyone is interested but it might make you feel better anyways. just resign the sooner the better to heal these gaping wounds suffered by your defensive management

  18. Ateonetree Says:

the defense is actually getting worse even as the quality of player has gone up . Smith has got to go today!!!

  19. Chuckstutz Says:

#32 defense year in and year out. Only one reason.

  20. SOEbuc Says:

Don’t know what the offense looked like, but Duffner was 6-10 and 2-14 with the Bengals. BUCK! Ex-defensive player and great coach. He’ll have this defense pissing their pants crying in the corner if they can’t do well and I guarantee he will not be sitting in the nice cool box on game day. Madd reps from previous and new players all over the field. Honey Badger called him a future HC. I at least hope he’s high on the board for 2019 DC.

  21. 813bucboi Says:

    that’s right smitty!!!!!…..no more excuses!!!!!!

been saying for 3years now, its not talent and players…..its the coaches and scheme!!!!!

the coaches aren’t creative and innovative and the schemes are predictable and passive…..

@joe, last week you wrote about how dirk had a not so enthusiastic look on his face(or something to that effect)…..then the players came out flat or as Dotson put it relaxed……you think dirks non enthusiastic, flat or relaxed attitude is causing this team to lose focus before they even board the plain?…..

and why do these type of games always happen on the road? vs minny, vs arz vs buffalo……

    that all points to dirk…..

    #NOEXCUSESIN2018!!!!!…#PRESSURESONTHECOACHES!!!!!…..GO BUCS!!!!!

  22. Rick Says:

Rookies actually fight all the way down man. They are getting beat a lot because qbs are picking on them. Like every year if the qb has time he’ll pick apart whoever you have back there.

  23. SkBucsFan Says:

It’s as if the Glazer’s know nothing about football, or just don’t care as long as they make money. And making money in the NFL is easy. The lucrative TV and advertising contracts make sure of that. Maybe the owners have a contest to see who can earn the most? Maybe the Galzer’s win that contest, because they sure don’t win on the field. How can someone, with the resources, allow themselves to be the laughing stock at the owner’s meetings? It must be embarrassing to sit at the Bucs’s table and see everyone laughing at you. Licht must know the same feeling at the draft table most times when he makes a pick.
Do the right football thing; get rid of Mike Smith and keep Dirk Koetter and Jason Licht on a short leash. Foster an environment of winning and don’t settle for mediocrity. Either that or sell the team to someone who cares about football.
FYI. They are killing Man U as well !

  24. Dusthty Rhothdes Says:

Buckner’s DL is not that great so to throw him in as DC is clueless, if he was that great why was his last resort to sign with a team that had a HC and DC that were lame ducks, buckner if he was that great would have been long gone before this sh*tshow got a hold of him

  25. Brandon Says:

If something doesn’t change with Smith as our DC over the next couple days, then I’m through believing and having any faith in this organization. So they gave Smith a mulligan for last year’s inept defense, but now, through 4 games this year and nothing has changed. I just don’t get it!!!!!!!!!

  26. Joe Blahak Says:

one scapegoat…the guy who has been on this team for all the curb stompings over the past 10 years….Gerald “Marshmallow” McCoy!…until he is gone, this will never change!

  27. SOEbuc Says:

    ^^”Honey Badger called him a future HC.”^^

How’s that for a good rep from an amazing player in the secondary.

  28. Gene Deckerhoff is my hero Says:

    Fire Jason Licht
    Fire Mike Smith
Run Koetter Out of town faster than a fart dissipating in wind tunnel

  29. ATLBucsfan Says:

This defense hasn’t been this bad since ’76. I watched that team get better and better each week. Not so with Mike Smith’s defenses. Time to fire him Koetter! It’s like 11 guys speaking 11 different languages. Trubisky looked like a HOF’r yesterday. Trubisky for crying out loud!!!!! Either the defense is so hard Einstein couldn’t figure it out or the defensive players have had it with their coach.

  30. DB55 Says:

Carlton Davis is straight, it’s MJ Stewart who should have never been drafted much less play on sundays. If you go back and watch MJ was responsible for at least 3-4 TDS. That’s on the gm and coaches.

What I really don’t get is why Koetter abandons the run so quickly. With a 3 man front and 8 dropping back I’d run Barber behind DSmith and Ali all day.

But my biggest laugh came when I saw Marpet pull across the line to pass block Mack. Yesterday I posted that Marpet should mirror Mack but I didn’t think these professional coaches were dumb enough to actually listen to me. I mean wtfdik, amirite?!?!!!

  31. Gene Deckerhoff is my hero Says:

Gerald McCoy has done more for this franchise than shoes have done for feet.. GTFOH with bashing him.

  32. 813bucboi Says:

dirk wont fire smitty until week 15 once we’ve locked up the #1 pick…..

and why doesn’t dirk and monken get a pass?……their side of the ball was a wreck too yesterday….that just proves that the book is out on fitz with this offense……the 4vert scheme is predictable….teams have film and are taking away the offensive strength which are explosive plays….teams will not allow evans and djax to beat them over the top and will have LB’s drop into the middle of the field to stop OJ and brate…..teams are forcing our offense to become physical and run the ball…

the best way to slow down the pass rush and get the safeties into the box are quick throws….jet sweeps….draws…..screen passes…..

but no, this staff abandons the run and continues to air it out or shall i say, beat its head against the wall…..

    this staff is incompetent!!!!!!

    #NOEXCUSESIN2018!!!!!…#PRESSURESONTHECOACHES!!!!!…..GO BUCS!!!!!

  33. RaShad Says:

Has M. Smith been fired yet ????

  34. Not there yet Says:

They were able to fool the glazers at the end of last year with excuses I’m sure they will find some excuse to keep their jobs especially with 12 games left. This coaching staff is elite at finding excuses

  35. Buccfan37 Says:

Not too fond of Licht, Smith or Koetter. Licht a wing and a prayer type GM. Smith a washed up over the hill has been. Koetter better suited for peewee football. Send them all packing! It’s not like the Bucs fans aren’t used to wallowing in obscurity.

  36. SOEbuc Says:

    @Dusthty Rhothdes

“Buckner’s DL is not that great so to throw him in as DC is clueless, if he was that great why was his last resort to sign with a team that had a HC and DC that were lame ducks, buckner if he was that great would have been long gone before this sh*tshow got a hold of him.”

It’s a business right? Doubt you know what Bucs vs. others were offering. Dline is the only thing even remotely good on this defense other than CD3’s play. JPP is on average for 16 sacks. Gholston playing his best ever moved to DT. Missing Allen, Unreich, and just got back VV. How sweet would GMC a third and a seventh for Bell be? This D b!ows all around, so what’s the point in not taking a chance.

  37. Gene Deckerhoff is my hero Says:

Bucfan37: you are insulting peewee football coaches by associating Dirk Koetter’s name with them.

  38. jmarkbuc Says:

Bottom Line is Glazers get 300mil a year no matter what the product on the field is…..

    They could give a rat’s ass…

  39. DB55 Says:

McCoy is a bum and a thief. Garuntee JPP and Curry have zero respect for him. One tackle a game from a 100 mil player does not do a darn thing to win games sorry but he’s a joke.

Case in point, when have you ever seen McCoy try to rally the troops? Never! Instead he’s providing PTSD counseling to LVD on the sidelines and telling people to have fun.

McCoy is literally the real life version of the character Kevin Nash plays on The Longest Yard who consumes too much estrogen before each game.

  40. NPRSageBoy Says:

And you slander clowns by calling Bucs D a Circus

  41. SOEbuc Says:

“How sweet would GMC a third and a seventh for Bell be?”

I want a nasty DT round one 2019.

  42. Alanbucsfan Says:

One thing lost in the defensive collapse was the terrible offensive play calling…
Monken starts the game with a screen to Humphries- like Chicago hasn’t seen that before- so they go 3 and out,
then the 3rd possession, they get to the red zone- does he throw it in the end zone to one of our great receivers? – no, he calls 2 straight plays for the rookie, Jones and then targets Howard who was not playing well.
After settling for fg at that point, it was pretty much over…

  43. ATrain Says:

I’ve seen everyone talked about on here by Joe except McCoy

    Where was He

    JPP was pissed on sideline
    JPP was making snacks

If you are the highest play and according to Joe an Elite player this is a prime game for you to show up like JPP.

Nothing in the game or sideline

But no article on this WHY

  44. DB55 Says:

    SOE

There were like 5-6 encroachment penalties and only 1 sack. If that’s the best we got then it’s going to be a super long season.

  45. Dusthty Rhothdes Says:

Buckner was not wanted by any other franchise esp with all the new HCs and the HCs that were not lame ducks as was/is Koetter, so for a guy to take a 1 year rip with the highly likely chance you would be canned come december, who does that? What has Buckner done to be labled a DC? The honey badger says so, if buckners DL was that great he would have still been in zona as would of the honey badger but the cardinals staff was canned, buckner has been a position coach for 4 years and was part of a horrible defens in arizona so what has he done to prove he should be a DC? The DL in tampa sucks, he has an all pro that fell in his lap in JPP and GMC looks his usual horrible, so what has he done with the DL here in Tampa because it is currently the worst defense n the nfl, maybe buckner one day will be a good DC but that isnt right now…..he should not have signed up here in this lame duck year if he wanted to learn from top flight pros

Get rid of licht and the entire staff

  46. Gene Deckerhoff is my hero Says:

Vita Vea looking like a big bust, no pun intended. Can’t believe Licht would pick a Pacific NW player to play in hot and humid FL. The Chargers are laughing at Licht.. What a bad GM he’s been. Aside from Jameis, Mike Evans, and possibly OJ Howard, what success has he had in the early rounds of the draft?

  47. SOEbuc Says:

Glazer kids are especially bad and careless of hiring new GMs and coaches. Keep JL at least if you get rid of Koetter and Smith. JL very good scout and we need to build through the draft for good, young, cheap players. He’s doing that.

  48. Evolvingbucsfan Says:

BSPN reporting Howard out for 2-4 weeks for sprained MCL…….

  49. Gene Deckerhoff is my hero Says:

Finally Bucs fans!!! Bring the heat and keep it coming to Licht and Koetter. I’ve been a Fire Licht and Cut Koetter guy for a while. About time Bucs fans are catching on!!

  50. TOM Says:

No GMC. No more Grimes. Definitely no M. Smith or whinny ass L. Bell.

  51. Gene Deckerhoff is my hero Says:

Soe Buc. Jason Licht is a Terrible scout. Look at who he has wearing buc uni’s now. His picks have been horrendous as well as most of his free agent signings. He sucks at his job. Fire Licht!

  52. pelbuc Says:

Been a fan since 76′ and I can’t remember a worse time to be a Bucs fans. Sure, there have been plenty of lows but before the defense at least tried. Now, all we have is a clown QB that embarrasses the franchise on and off the field, a bunch of overpaid defensive players that can’t stop a breeze and a clueless GM and horrible coaches. Year in year out, it’s the Blowout Bucs, whether it’s game 2, 4 or 6 of the season. Oline is also pathetic, no running game and Evans is always good for a crucial drop or fumble. All the more reason what Fitz did was amazing. Trade cancers JW and GMC and push the reset after everyone is fired. BTW do not re-sign Kwon, he sucks!

  53. SkBucsFan Says:

Same here Gene. I was sitting on the edge of the Licht bandwagon a few years ago. I fell off of it when he drafted a kicker …in the second round! And traded up for that kicker. Even worse, the kicker was a bust. How could anyone keep their job in the NFL after a bonehead move like that?

  54. Hawk Says:

    @ ATrain
McCoy is the guy who opens the door for Joe, when he comes to talk with the players.

  55. Resurrection of Fitz Says:

No bye week for the secondary. The rookies must ace the final exam against Atlanta.
We need keith Tandy back to teach the rookies as he did in the 2016 five game mirage.

Koetter won’t fire Smith. He is willing to go together at the end of the season. If things keep heading down hill come December Koetter and Smith will be dismissed and the LB coach will be interim HC.

  56. Gene Deckerhoff is my hero Says:

Jameis is the only reason to have hope that this team will move forward… The off the field stuff is Fake News.

  57. jjbucfan Says:

A couple of things- Alan- I would bet dollars to donuts Mike /smith took back over the play calling. We will never know of course but this is what our offense did the last 2 years. There was no rhythm- no continuity to the offense.

Second- to me this is simple- you fire both of them, Dirk and Smith. Smith should have been fired at the end of last year- all the promise we had and he pulls the 32nd ranked defense in the league. Haters want to blame Jameis but he had them in position to win at least 5, 6, 7 more games last year and either dummy Dirk played for a FG that of course we missed or Mike Smiths bend-then break defense gave up the booty at the end.

So what do you do? You hire Jack Del Rio today and he is your head coach, let Monken call the plays so we actually know who to hold accountable. You make Brenston Buckner the DC. He commands respect from these players because he has done it on the field himself, he was the fans pick for DC in Arizona but the whole staff was shown the door. Much like O’dell Hagins should have been the FSU head coach or least D coordinator (dude from Michigan State runs Lovies Defense, UGH!!) because he commands the players respect and when the crap hit the fan last year- Dude wouldn’t let the players quit and coached the hell out of them.

  58. Gene Deckerhoff is my hero Says:

Jameis is a great player and an impeccable human being. He’s also America’s QB according to the best NFL related website in the world.

  59. jmarkbuc Says:

    pelbuc

I feel ya. I don’t think that in our worst days (of which there have been many), that we have ever been this bad…from the top down. Good Lord, as if our uniforms weren’t bad enough..even our cheerleaders look ridiculous.

From the top to the last waterboy, this team is a joke. At least when we were bad before, we at least had a D to be proud of, just never had any O..

To me, all this O is overrated. Fantasy football and gambling rule the day…

  60. Gene Deckerhoff is my hero Says:

    All good suggestion jj.

  61. jjbucfan Says:

^^That was supposed to be Dirk took back the play calling^^^^

  62. Hawk Says:

Be careful what you wish for. For those of you wanting Winston to be the QB of the future, you need to understand that if Koetter goes, Winston will lose that spot. Even *if* the Glazers keep Winston, the next HC may have other plans for the position. After everything that has happened (on/off the field), I doubt seriously that the Glazers will force the next HC to make Winston the future.

  63. Erik w/ Clean Athletics Says:

    You want a scapegoat???

How about Isaiah FREAKIN Johnson. (and the guys who decided to keep him over Tandy, and also not bring back Robert McClain for some stupid reason)…

That kid should obviously NOT be on an NFL football field at this point in time.

Literally both losses can almost be pinned squarely on him.

He is the #1 reason for all of our communication errors and coverage errors on the backend.

    BOUNCE THAT DUDE NOW, PLEASE.

  64. Jeffbuc Says:

Dusty Rhodes you do realize that Buckner can’t coach the d line like he wants to. He still has to coach the way Smitty wants his d line coached. He can’t just cal stunts or blitz packages. If smith says in 4-3 zone he wants to pass rushers to rush straight up the field in there lane that’s what Buckner has to do. He can’t call a stunt just because he wants to. His job is to coach up the players the best he can to mike smiths defense. He isn’t in control of what the slime does. Therefor you air me have no clue what kind of coach he is since it’s not his play calls. He just works on pass rush moves and footwork. And what a player is suppose to do on mike smiths plays. I just don’t understand how a coach knowing we have young corners would call a defense all game just rushing 4 they kept an extra blocker in. Darrel revis in his prime couldn’t cover any nfl receiver for 6 plus seconds. I though it’s just nfl defensive coach common sense that if you are playing against a young qb. You blitz, blitz and then blitz some more. Get the ball out of his hands quick force a lot of incompletions and some turnovers. I can’t remeber one blitz yesterday.

  65. Erik w/ Clean Athletics Says:

Jordan Whitehead being out last week is what lost us that game, on top of everything else

  66. Erik w/ Clean Athletics Says:

Also, Brent Grimes is playing like absolute GARBAGE right now. SMDH

  67. SkBucsFan Says:

What’s a blitz? Is it that thing every team does to us on defense , but we don’t do in return?

  68. ATrain Says:

    Hawk

    I believe you are right

Because never answers my question and you can’t find a negative article on here about McCoy

He didn’t show up last week except to apologize

MCCOY needs to apologize to the FANS

  69. Gene Deckerhoff is my hero Says:

There r no negative articles about GMC because he is good at his job…

  70. Gene Deckerhoff is my hero Says:

Hawk.. you are crazy.. those are dillusional thoughts. Any coach would be thrilled to have Jameis.

  71. Gene Deckerhoff is my hero Says:

The talk always has its way to getting Jameis involved… Cut the damn bs Jameis hate out and rally around hiim and the offense. It’s all the Bucs have. That and a bunch of fans who hate Jameis.

  72. doolnutts Says:

I don’t even think its just schematic issues at this point… I think the defense has totally tuned out Mike Smith… Blown coverages and mistakes happen especially with a young DB core… But since Smith’s tenure, we have allowed 400 yard’s passing in 19 different games… The defense is NOT buying what Mike Smith is selling… At this point I just want a new DC to shake things up.

  73. Realbucfan941 Says:

Never seen so many defenders confused and run to the wrong spot on so many plays. Clear sign of poor coaching! As Nagy said, he knew what our secondary would be doing and clearly exploited it. If Smith would publicly step down then take the play calling from him and say nothing. At the very least! Please!

  74. Realbucfan941 Says:

    Won’t

  75. Gene Deckerhoff is my hero Says:

Players aren’t going to quit.. they play for money. Bad performance = no $$… bad player plays bad. Jason Licht has a bunch of bad players. Bad coach + bad player = Trubisky looking like a first ballot hof’er. How to fix. Fire Licht = getting better players. Fire Mike Smith to get better coaching. Kick Koetter to the curb. Bucs Win!

  76. Dusthty Rhothdes Says:

jeffbuc, as stated above that vaunted bucs DL that jumps offsides and has their heads down as vea did every play that is all specific coaching and alignment & assignment which i am guessing they have as a period over in global bucs HQ, its ok, put buckner at DC and see this clownshow exponentially get worse, licht is responsible for the crap that is out there and love being ridiculed for this the past 2 years as that dunderbox missed on so much talent in the nfl draft the past 4 years….hey guys how the dunkaneers doing?

  77. Dapostman Says:

Seems the only way things will change in Tampa is if the fans quit buying season tickets. Once no one is at the game and it isn’t aired on the local TV the Glazers will be forced to do something. Right now they still are making money on ticket sales and local TV telecasts I’d assume. That’s how you change the culture. If your product is bad why would I go watch trash?

    #Get After It!

  78. Gene Deckerhoff is my hero Says:

Paper bags and gas masks got rid of Schiano. Let’s get that tactic started back up.

  79. James Walker Says:

The only common denominator is ownership. 10+ years and a half dozen coaches later and nothing has changed. Why can anyone think for a second that a different coach will make a difference? This is the definition of insanity.

  80. jmarkbuc Says:

    Dapostman

League Revenue sharing grosses the Glazers 250-300mil. Whether or not anyone is in the stands.

Plus they’ll just sell the visitors even higher priced tix..They love it. The MNF game was a home Steelers game.

  81. Realbucfan941 Says:

Hey dodos. If they Glazers only cared about money we wouldn’t be in the top 5 for most coaches in a 10 year period. Think about it, I know it’s hard… but they were paying 3 at one time. Plus all the assistants. If it was just about money they could have left Raheem in there. You guys big Alex Jones fans or something? They’re impatient, that’s why Dungy and gruden got fired. They just don’t know how to hire them.

  82. Gene Deckerhoff is my hero Says:

They tried to get the Glazers out in Manchester United… glazers out was the campaign. Not happening

  83. Rod Munch Says:

Now I didn’t watch every play of the game, I was too busy getting an abortion as opposed to watching this abortion, however I did see quite a few plays and the d-line seemed to be doing OK. What I saw was a QB who had zero fear of throwing against the Bucs DB’s, and I saw DB’s that NEVER got their heads around, so throwing against them is pretty much fearless as you never have to worry about an INT.

The rookies will get better, hopefully, but this is on Licht for thinking a couple of 2nd round corners and a 4th round safety would be plenty of depth in their rookie season. Also it’s on Mike Smith for constantly running stunts which, even if they work, take forever to get the QB.

I know you dopes will hate this, but man do I miss the Lovie days when the Bucs had a top 10 defense. If Mike Smith wants to do something, learn the Tampa 2 in the next 2 weeks and just play that the entire game, it literally can not get worse than the abortions we’re seeing on the field.

  84. jjbucfan Says:

Perfect time to fire Koetter and Smith. Offense won’t miss a beat with Monken and Defense can only improve under Buckner or Duffner. We have 2 weeks to prepare!!

  85. jjbucfan Says:

The fact nobody has been fired is completely offensive to the fans at this point.

  86. Bucsfanman Says:

I’ll sat it for you Rod: You missed Chris Conte!!! You KNOW you did! LOL! 🙂

  87. NJBucsFan Says:

They found their scapegoat and released Jerel Worthy

  88. Trench War Says:

Other than our front four we have No blitzes, and if there was, there wasn’t many. The teams that play us blitz the crap out of us practically every passing play. When you are weak on the backend you can’t give opposing QB’s all day to pick you apart.

Pittsburgh cleaned our clock with exotic blitzes to protect their DB’s so you don’t think Chicago wasn’t going to do the same thing? The argument about blitzing leaving the backend open for big plays is BS. We’re getting picked apart without any pressure besides our front four. So giving up a big play because they picked up the blitz is a weak argument when they are killing us without blitzes anyway.

  89. Trench War Says:

Smith’s defensive scheme sucks under the new rules

  90. BigHogHaynes Says:

This is just the right time to bring back my man LOVIE As Defensive Coach!!!

Back LOVIE …that’s just what I heard but it’s not likely because his only request would be that The Backstabbers would have to go after they gave full apologies TRUMP STYLE!!!

  92. BigHogHaynes Says:

I’m bar me Joe! This is A joke of a team and we feel screwed as FANS …I’m a fan Joe!

  93. Malcolm-Reynolds Says:

I honestly didn’t think it would only take 4 games for me to decide to tune out for the season. Life is too short for this level of aggravation. I truly WANT to be one of those “Never say die”, “We’ll get ’em next week” fans, I do. But as a Life-long Bucs fan this HAS to be one of the most disappointing Bucs defenses EVER. And the fact that we actually have a decent offense only makes the horrific lack of effort on the part of the defense/coaching staff that much more of a straight up kick in the groin. I will NEVER Root for another NFL team but for sanity’s sake I’m going to have to occupy myself with something (ANYTHING) else while the Bucs are on. I really pity those loyal folks who actually spend their hard earned money on those overpaid idiots. I truly hope that SOMEHOW things will improve. But I doubt it will.

  94. JameisNOT Says:

As a reminder, prior to the beginning of the season all of you clowns stated that Fitzpatrick would go 0-3 and JameISNOT would come in and go on a winning streak. He is unfortunately the starter again and has zero chance of rattling off wins. Last year you blamed it on his shoulder. This year it will be blamed on the Defense.

If Mike Smith had an ounce of class, he’d fall on the sword and resign.

  96. BigMacAttack Says:

Letting Chucky go years ago really proved to be a great decision. Raheem has a great first year but with a team built of scraps you can only do so much. Everything since has been complete garbage and a total waste of time and money for anyone buying tickets. This franchise is junk. It’s one big continuous bad decision. There seems to be a lack of commitment on everyone’s part. I used scoff at the notion that the Glazers only cared about ManU. I’m not so sure now. I do know this. It’s all a money game. Win or lose, fans in the stands or empty seats, they still make tons of cash. There is no incentive to have a great or winning franchise. As long as there’s TV contracts with revenue sharing they will keep banking cash. I’m just about over it like I tuned it out last season. It’s hard to be a fan when when there’s nothing to cheer for, everyone on the field is extremely overpaid and has a poor me attitude. F them all.

“32nd ranked defensive year in year out. Only one reason.”

Yeah, because it’s impossible to be ranked 40-140.

    32nd is exceedingly generous .

  98. Realbucfan941 Says:

    You said it big Mac,

All teams are in the same boat revenue wise. Glazers spent millions upgrading the stadium. It’s not about money for the last time. They’re loaded. It’s about wrong hires. Get you an old school football head in as vice president of operations like polian or someone. Let them hour from gm down and turn this thing around now! Since Dirk won’t do the right thing Smitty won’t man up and resign. Pull the plug on them. He’ll I’d take Louis riddick right now to build the franchise. Couldn’t get worse. But do it while we have a playoff caliber offense

  99. Realbucfan941 Says:

    Hire

    Real

If you think it’s not all about the money, you’re out of your damn mind.

If the Glazers were football people, they would have called Smitty in Chicago and fired him after the game.
