He earned it. He deserves it.

  2. Loyaltotheend Says:

If he did the Bucs would be running the ball better

  3. buddy Says:

Not a chance he deserved it. The guy is very average. But what does Licht care not his money and he’s fired come January anyways with KluelessKoetter. At least we can hope.

  4. adam from ny Says:

he’s not the mauler he used to be…and he is becoming a super nice guy like gerald…not a good thing to be a super nice guy as a lineman…gotta remain nasty…

notice the mentalities of the new guys – those mentalities do not match the team…jensen and jpp are all nasty and wicked…the rest of the bucs lineman are smiley softies…hopefully jensen and jpp don’t join this bucs brigade of soft serve

  5. Buc believer Says:

Another example of a Jason Licht over pay… Glazers LOVE to spend money stupidly.

  6. JimmyJack Says:

Yes…..But he needs to step his game up. He can play better then he did in Chicago.

    I need every game Ali.

  7. IsrBuc Says:

Love Ali and glad he’s staying with the team but no one from this team should get top dollar i think. They are all career losers at the end of the day. They are payed to win, in my mind. Showing up is not enough to be one of the highest paid. Another PR move by the bucs.

  8. D-Rome Says:

I don’t understand these comments. He plays RG, C, and LG at a very high level. The Bucs should have kept him at RG though, and that’s on the organization.

  9. D the Bucs fan Says:

Dude hasnt made not one pro bowl or all pro team. And gets beat consistently. Man. I hope he’s one of those guys that he wants to prove he’s worth that contract.

  10. Season Is Over Says:

Very high level? Nothing on this OL has been very high level for a long time. Even if they were good for a few games they are paid professionals. They are supposed to be good sometimes. I think people are getting delusional when this website props up average NFL talent into something they aren’t. Hence, the survey here where 70% think Marpet should be making 11 million a season. I guess when you have so much negative people are fooled by anything positive. No one outside of Tampa knows who Marpet is. Now they know we just paid him 11 million per season. Haha.

  11. Alanbucsfan Says:

“Deserves got nothing to do with it” .. The Unforgiven

  12. Dom is gone Licht is next Says:

Great let’s pay all this 5 win average roster top dollar just to say they got a 2nd contact…. between the complete bust and the average talent that are “keepers” Licht has not accomplished much more than the previous GM… Evans is a beast … Jamies hopefully but still a question? The rest 5 win talent at best! And I don’t want to hear about LD or Kwon or any of the rest of the 32nd ranked losers on the defense

  13. On the rise Says:

His best performance was at RG. Move him back to help the running attack.

  14. Buccernutter Says:

So I totally thought this thread would be filled with praise and excitement for marpet.

This is the dumbest fan base in sports. Seriously. Sometimes I wonder if we as a group deserve to win with how dumb and unappreciative you guys can be. It’s unbelievable.

Lavonte has had one pro bowl. It’s because the league doesn’t respect us. People get shafted every year when it comes to respect. Marpet absolutely deserves this. Dude is the ONLY player that has made it in the NFL out of Hobart. Has played three positions at a very good level. He was the #1 guard in the league til the bears game.

My God you guys are stupid. It’s ridiculous.

  15. Dooshlarue Says:

I really like Ali but 11 mil seems a bit high. I hope he keeps improving.

  16. Brandon Says:

Very seldom is Guard Play the key to winning football games and ultimately the Super Bowl. Big money guards rarely live up to expectations nor lead their teams to the promised lands. Sure, Logan Mankins and Carl Nicks each have a Super Bowl ring… but every other big money guard hasn’t really had great team success. It’s great to have awesome guards, but it’s even better to have awesome tackles and you build an NFL line from the outside in and spending tons of money in the interior line really makes it hard to pay more important players to come to or stay on the team.

Granted, there are very few right now that are even deserving of a second contract. Frankly, the majority of our defenders don’t deserve the contracts they have.

We can be a terrible defense with or without them. At this point in time we are playing expansion team level defense. So we could conceivably get rid of McCoy, David, Grimes, Allen, Gholston, and Curry and their big contracts as well as younger players not performing on their first contracts like Alexander, Hargreaves, and Beckwith (i know he’s injured) and the defense probably wouldn’t miss a beat and continue to not be able to stop anyone.
