ESPN: Why You Keep Jameis

October 30th, 2018

Jameis advocate.

If Adam Schefter and Tim Hasselbeck have any influence with Team Glazer, there’s no way they get rid of America’s Quarterback, Pro Bowler Jameis Winston, just yet.

In an episode of NFL Live, the two made the case that the Bucs are royally screwed for the foreseeable future if they dump Jameis.

Yes, Schefter noted, Jameis will come with an expensive price as he is under contract for some $20 million next year if he is on the roster in mid-March. But as Joe has been pointing out as well, Schefter asked, “Who is the quarterback you are turning to?”

Schefter said it is beyond foolish to expect then 36-year old journeyman backup Ryan Fitzpatrick to be the starter for the near future.

“Who is the option?” Hasselbeck asked if the Bucs cut Jameis. “Don’t tell me Teddy Bridgewater — because there are five other teams that are going to say the same thing.”

Hasselbeck said Jameis is too talented to just throw up your hands and walk away. He admitted Jameis’ picks are “disgusting” but Hasselbeck also said the best thing for the Bucs is to bring in a new coach (which would only be Jameis’ second offensive NFL coach — Lovie stayed away from the offense as if the players had the Ebola virus) and hope something then clicks with Jameis hearing a new voice in his ear.

Both Schefter and Hasselbeck were suggesting a famous quote from Raheem Morris should be apt.

“I will tolerate you until I can replace you.”

    The Bucs suck.

    See the suck.

    Feel the suck.

    Embrace the suck.

    It’s a suck life.

  2. AtlBuc Says:

I agree. Jameis is causing us games, but there is a good QB in there. He just has to get out of his own head.

  3. Beans Says:

On field ineptness, off field immaturity. Trade him for a sack of marbles.

  4. AlteredEgo Says:

Bringing in a new coach is the most idiotic idea I’ve heard for this situation!!! Then a year from now we’ll be saying he only had a year with the new HC and things were being to click in “some games “ …. He’ll No to a new HC and WTF would come into this uncertain QB predicament ….pay Jamyth his 21 million next year and draft a QB with the first pick in next draft! Sort it out after that season

  5. Joe Blahak Says:

Prolong the agony? NO…Fitz can hold down the job next year. They like Griffin. There are 2 QBs for 2019 and you find another. Keeping this fraud on the team any longer causes TURMOIL…MORE TURMOIL!

  6. GhostofSchiano Says:

Release him at the end of the season. $20 million to spend elsewhere, lure a FA qb into Tampa.

It only takes ONE more off field transgression and he is suspended for one year, correct?

  7. Fartman Says:

yeah, not a fan of the arguement… “sure, he sucks, but he sucks less than what would be available if you cut bait.” We have one of the best passing games in football with Fitz. We can buy time with him until we figure it out.

  8. Joe Blahak Says:

    @AtlBuc…
Wrong, there is a very average QB in there. What you see is what you get. It wont change. He’ll always make the bad throw at the worst time. It’s proven…

  9. Dewey Selmon Says:

Do not play him and see of the new regime next year wants to keep him. Or if Dirk somehow keeps his job and have Fitz mentor a QB.

  10. Dooshlarue Says:

    Dumbest idea yet.

  11. LakeLand Says:

What I said in 2015 during Jameis first camp
The Yucs went out and did the opposite

    LakelandBuc Says:
    August 12th, 2015 at 9:17 am

I’m not concern with Jameis interceptions in camp, I would be concern if he wasn’t throwing picks. You learn from mistakes, you don’t learn from watching film or sitting on the bench. And you don’t progress in this league by throwing checkdowns, you will have to throw into coverage to survive in this league. I’m concern about our running game, our special teams, our defense. We will need 2200 yards or more from our running game. We will need our special team to give us good field position. We will need our defense to keep the opposing team out of the end zone, we can’t afford to give up a lot of points. The one thing that we can’t afford is, playing from behind. We can’t have our rookie QB making desperate throws, we have to avoid the high scoring games. With a strong running game, we can avoid the shootouts ( the worst case scenario for a rookie QB). With a strong running game, we can control the clock, we can help our defense ( by giving them rest). We need those long drives to keep QB’S like Cam Newton, Matt Ryan, Drew Brees, Tony Romo, Eli Manning, Andrew Luck off the field. A poor running game is the worst thing in football, a balanced attack is a must.

  12. DB55 Says:

I guess no one wants to talk about the fact that any qb needs to score 40 points to win a game in Tampa. Winston could throw 100 picks and still having a winning record if the defense didn’t give up 21-30 in the first half.

  13. Iron Wombat Says:

    What QB’s has Koetter developed?

  14. DB55 Says:

Fitz lost 2 of the 4 games he played people. 3 ints in a quarter!!!! It’s hard to justify the selective memory and bias other than maybe personal issues people might have with Winston.

    #RunJameisRun #NYneedsYou

  15. Not there yet Says:

Yes it’s so easy to find a quarterback that’s why there were so many here before him. Stupid to say just go get another qb like we’ve done it so many times before. Fitz will start to break down again just give it another 2-3 games when he starts feeling the pressure from this bad o line with no run game and begins throwing off his back foot again. Old man Fitz will start to feel his age after 3 games, he’s not physically gifted or some work out warrior or fitness guru like Brady and brees. 20 mil is a small price to pay to see if another coach can get this guy right. The easiest thing in the world dork could have done is change the qb coach because no one else needed one

Aaron Rodgers is one of the best in the nfl look how he reacted when they fired his qb coach. Bajakian was the easiest change to help Winston. Winston is 1-1 so the other 3 losses are on who? The head coach, he is in charge of the entire team not just the offense, regime change will fix a lot of issues, will it help Winston? Hey if going to another team will do will another head coach in tampa

  16. Pete I Says:

The Glazers are terrible owners who will make the wrong decision no matter which one they make. This fish rots from the head. Trade Winston for anything and move on or keep him and continue to fail and move on.

    Sure do miss the Dad.

  17. Rick Says:

Take that 20 mil and invest in the secondary and oline. This team isn’t far from a playoff spot, talent wise. We just need a buy to drive the ship.
I don’t think anyone is foolish enough to trade for Winston when they can have him for free next year.

  18. Fartman Says:

Its getting late, i don’t guess that Aaron Rogers trade is going to happen.

  19. adam from ny Says:

jameis is a sick young man with ADD, OCD, or something…once he goes into the zone, he can’t be reached…just look at his eyes when he is on the field and loses it…he might need meds…i did a whole segment on this like 10 days ago…scroll back for details – jameis is not well, but really loves football…maybe too much…

  20. Bculaw Says:

Jameis and Koetter are not a winning formula. Aggressive, downfield passing attack for a QB that has never seen a tight window he didn’t like. Koetter’s scheme has traditionally been a “risky” scheme where all of his QBs have thrown a lot of picks. Jameis is regressing and is throwing WAY more picks than he should be.

Is Koetter the long term answer at HC with another QB?

Is Jameis the long term answer at QB with another HC/OC?

We’ll get a glimpse of the former for the next 9 games.

IF (and it is an “if”) Koetter is not the answer, id definitely like to see Jameis get a shot here with a different scheme. Hopefully one that provides him with some run support and balance, and allows him to throw more out of play action.

Of course, if Koetter/Monken/Fitz light it up this year, then i’ll wish JW the best in his new home (Pitt and NE would be good fits for him).

  21. adam from ny Says:

it’s like jameis is running around like a madman out there slinging footballs like he is playing schoolyard football or basketball or something…it’s like really immature – it’s like he’s having so much fun or getting so far ahead of himself that he doesn’t really know what he’s even doing…it’s like too much fun for him…in laymans terms it almost like premature ejaculation…i’m not kidding…it’s like jameis is almost childlike at times…he really needs mental help – a quarterback psychiatrist of sorts

  22. GhostofSchiano Says:

Not there yet says “Stupid to say get another Quarterback”

    https://www.spotrac.com/nfl/free-agents/all/quarterback/

Stupid to stick with jameis when he has shown such regression. Don’t forget this…one more off field transgression and he is suspended for one year. How much faith do you have in him to behave off the field ? How much faith do you have in him fixing these rookie mistakes? How much faith do you have in him progressing?

  23. Tbbucs3 Says:

Logical take here. I’d give Jameis 1 more off season to clear his mind and return as the starter. If he’s bad then we can get rid of him.

  24. Resurrection of Duff Says:

    Did it happened yet?

  25. Gobucs Says:

    @DB55

Shut up already. Fitz has outplayed your boy by a mile.

It’s not even a question. Everyone with eyes can see it. Your boy sh#t the bed as usual. Get over it. Fitz is the starter now so suck it.

  26. DB55 Says:

    Adam

    He’s 24.

  27. Casey Morgan Says:

amazing to me there are people STILL even considering Winston. Trade him today if you can, if not he is #3 QB and doesn’t see the field to save the $20m. If Fitz doesn’t win some games, see what you have in Ryan Griffin…

  28. adam from ny Says:

he plays all wild, plays all crazy, scrambles like a psychotic young kid at times…get’s away with it a lot because of sheer talent…but it always catches up with him because the nfl is full of talent as well…we have a crazy dude under center who really loves football – but might have limited brain capacity or something – it’s freakin crazy man

  29. Gobucs Says:

    DB55
You of all people sit here and talk about the “bias” people have with Fitz? lmao hahahahahahaha

    Pot meet kettle.

Pathetic. Get off JW nuts. He did it to himself.

  30. Dooshlarue Says:

    DB55

The earth is flat in your world isn’t it?

  31. adam from ny Says:

in the old nfl his wild scrambling would have resulted in broken ribs a long time ago – he’d get walloped left and right…his crazy pocket moves are going to result in many more fumbles too…let’s not even talk about the interceptions

  32. DB55 Says:

Imo buc fans are so desperate for a winning season that they expect Winston to think and perform like a hof QB. Even hof QBs are not performing, see Rodgers and his 3 wins.

Fans are so blind that they completely erase games 3&4 from their collective memories. They shun the fact that after 4 years we still can’t find a kicker to make an extra point and most importantly

We have the nfls worst defense in nfl history!!!!

Let’s not mention the debacle at RG and RT or the running game, whatever that is.

But yea Winston needs to be traded if nothing more than to get him away from these yahoos.

  33. Tampabaybucfan Says:

I’m hoping the benching of Jameis will get his attention….perhaps he will start to think before he throws into triple coverage.

  34. LakeLand Says:

The Cincinnati Bengals defense are ranked 31st in the NFL in YPC
    They give up 4.9 YPC

Even Christian McCaffrey ran for 184 Yards against them
Peyton Barber was eating them alive
Then Dirk Koetter abandoned the run game

Dirk Koetter is a “pass happy” coach
I have mention this a thousand time
He was ruining Matt Ryan before they run him off

He’s always making excuses for the ” lack” of a run game
Then when the run game get going…..he abandon it

  35. Resurrection of Duff Says:

But he is a gunslinger like Farve. Is that the definition of fantasy football?

  36. LakeLand Says:

As long as Dirk Koetter is Head Coach
    This team will not win

It’s not that complicated to see this
A one dimensional ” Pass Happy” offense is instant failure

  37. adam from ny Says:

jameis is just a wild dude…a wild football player that gets all reckless…it’s who he is – it’s not like all of a sudden he is going to become a cool, calm and collected cerebral pocket qb…
do you think we can toss the dude a quick lobotomy in the off season and have a brand new jameis with a brand new brain next year?…it does take special talent to make it in the nfl…but more so, a special brain to play quarterback at a high level in the nfl…essentially a great qb is a coach on the field…an extension of the coach on the sidelines…this jameis is not….

fitz actually does bring this extension of the coach type thing onto the field in many ways

  38. LakeLand Says:

This team will lose with Fitz as QB
    I’m sure of it
Opposing defenses know what to look for
    They are preparing for him

    Dirk Koetter is too predictable
    And one dimensional

  39. Rayjay1122 Says:

I heard the definition of insanity is to do the same thing over and over again and expect different results.

  41. Nprbuc Says:

Why all this “ look for a new QB “ to draft? Who knows. We may have a HOF guy riding the pine right now. Does anyone know what Griffin would look like behind a real line with the A-team receivers? Neither do I. I don’t remember much of him in pre season either other than he certainly didn’t embarrass himself. As a matter of fact he made some pretty impressive throws for TDS. He has been good enough to keep for years. Isn’t he good enough to at least get on the field at some point and let us see what we have? Kinda like letting Barber sit on the bench and keep riding Martin for 2 hrs when he did nothing. Let the kid play! Maybe we don’t need to go to a new college kid. Who the hell knows? Get him some playing time!

When you’re giving up 36 ppg it’s not the QBs that needs fixing.

Sure he had his worst game of his career but with all these yahoos negativity I’d throw 8 ints if it helped me leave the meth head capitol of the world. #facts

  43. ChipBuc Says:

I say at the end of the year clean house, Head coach, GM. Then go all in to coax Bruce Ariens to come back to coaching. Arians has a relationship with Winston going way back, and thinks very highly of him. Arians has coached many of the top QBs in the league, Manning, Roethlisberger, Luck, so Winston would be his biggest challenge, but doable. Find a good football man for the GM job and the rest will be history. Wishful thinking, but possible with the right hires. For example just look at the Rams. Just my opinion.

  44. Hawk Says:

We don’t know but that Koetter has already decided to have Fitz start against Carolina… *only*. Unless Fitz lights up the Panthers, Winston would go back to being the starter the next week. That gives him a week (and a game) to *watch*, and a week for Koetter to convince the team that Winston will play better after being on clipboard duty.
There are not a lot of options for replacing Winston right now. Of course, it could be, if given the chance, that Griffin would set the league on fire. THAT would likely save Koetters’ job.
At the moment, I am guessing that the Glazers see Winston/Koetter/Licht all in the same boat. And the Glazers have the plug-line pulled pretty taut.

  45. Mike Johnson Says:

Again..sombody in the sportsworld is sayin what I have been for the last 4 games..Keep Jameis and bring in a new HC. Koetter ain’t finishing 500 this yr guys. Who he gonna beat? carolina Sunday? FAT CHANCE. Even Fitzmagic won’t save him. Panthers are flat out ballin right now. Or haven’t you check out their play lately? FIRE KOETTER!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  46. SOEbuc Says:

Why are they trying to say the BACKUP that’s TOO OLD can’t start next year. Our BACKUP broke gigantic records and has looked sharp every game except Chicago. Drew Bress and Tom Brady are older by three years and are still going strong. NO REASON WE CANNOT BRING BACK FITZ TO START IN 2019. YOU F-CKED UP WITH PICKING JAMEIS SO NOW WE’LL EVENTUALLY GO GET ANOTHER ALL AROUND GREAT ROOKIE THAT COMES ALONG IN THE FUTURE.

  47. Matt14 Says:

$20 million is too much of an expensive gamble.. Jameis needs a fresh start and so do the Bucs. Fitz looks great right now, he looks fit, fast, etc.
Also, Tom Brady (in no way comparing Fitz to him) is 41 and he still plays great football. Let’s keep Fitz and bring in a new qb that can learn from Fitz.

  48. DB55 Says:

has looked sharp every game except Chicago.
    ———–
See what I’m talking about? It’s like a traumatic experience that you choose to forget bc it’s too painful. #Steelers

  49. Tim Says:

Look JW = slow release, does not read pressure, slow to make a decision, throws high (which is either a pick or an injured WR and is why D-Jax wants out) stares down his WR’s. That makes him an over drafted underperforming player. No winning franchise is going to dump the $$ on him. Release him, wish him the best and use the 20+ million else where.

Fitz = Journeyman back up, with starter talent. Gets hot and cold, is in no way the long term answer. He might be able to do enough to save this coaching staff and possibly be the veteran leader for a team that needs leadership.

Griffin = ?? we do not know, the team is high on him. So when the wheels fall off Fitz, which they will. You give this kid a shot and see what we have in him. Worst case he is you #2 next year and you make a move up in the draft to try and get a franchise QB.

JW is now toxic here, is on the field play and his off the field behavior has caused a divide in the fan base. Time for team Glazer to move on and let Dirk have his guy. (if the Bucs can do enough to save him) Remember he wanted MM not JW, JW was a Lovie and Licht pick.

  50. 808bucsfan Says:

Did he say Jameis has a rare gift to throw the ball??? Those picks were not even close to the receiver, I’d
say Jameis does have that rare gift, he’s not accurate
he cant go deep consistantly. He just doesn’t have that gift to throw he’s maybe average.

  51. Noles Says:

Curious who all the JW detractors would have drafted #1 that year…. Certainly not Mariota…. Matiota sucks!!! JW was the right pick, I get why everyone is frustrated with him but it’s one of the few JL picks that was the right pick at the time…until you get to Todd Gurley it can be argued all those picks are BUSTS!! Vic Beasley & Leonard Williams are ok…. but not a #1 and most of you would have said don’t take RB at #1… especially one coming off injury… Guess he could have traded down but that whole first round is not filled w awesome players go back & look. It’s fun being armchair GM but hard to fault JL for that pick… I would still like to see him & Koetter Gone they have earned it…

  52. Lord Cornelius Says:

I just can’t help but think everything is timing out as horrifically as possible.

We win that game and he plays well this isn’t a story.

    Instead the world is ending.

No single game has ever had this much of an impact that I can remember on fan perspective. His performance was truly that bad and truly came at the worst possible time. Still spinning.

  53. jjbucfan Says:

Roethlesberger’s 5th year in the league

    TD’s 17
    INT’s 15
    Yards 3301
    Fumbles 14
    Fumbles lost 7

    in 16 games.

In game 1 this year, 3 INTs and 3 TDs, 2 fumbles lost. You know who started game 2?

Last year against the Jags- Threw 5 picks 0 TD’s. Any Idea who started the next game?

How many would take Big Ben?

Brady has 7 career 4 int games and 2- 3 int games- none of these occurred after 2008 which was his 9th year in the league.

    Just sayin’

  57. ZammyPup Says:

I’m totally digging the term, “Sunk Cost Fallacy”. That’s where we are with Jameis. Here’s the deal…we fans deserve a little hope, not just prolonged suffering. Time to make decisions that will keep the team and keep the fan base. Sure, we’ll be the perpetual underdog…but at least it’ll be fun. My personal expectations are level-set regarding Fitz. I trade on the hope that he’ll surprise us all with a strong run. At minimum, I won’t feel punched in the nuts each week b/c I’ll be expecting it. When I’m not…like in the 4th quarter this week, even a loss doesn’t sting as much. I’m HAPPY to concede this season and trade on the exciting hope of a new coaching staff and team CTRL-ALT-DEL. Frankly, I don’t think there are that many moves to be made…just new energy. New hope. Give me that and I’ll give you my undivided attention the next theee years, despite our win/loss record. I WANT TO BE ENTERTAINED! Jameis May be a rockstar one day. Good for him. I’ll root for him.

    Elsewhere.

Now get that trad done by EOD.

    Cheers to HOPE and CHANGE!

  60. Noles Says:

  61. BrianBucs Says:

Winston’s name will be added the the list of NFL QB’s that have killed the Bucs

  62. pelbuc Says:

When the Bucs get to 7 losses they should plug in Griffin to see what he has. Keep JW away from any possibility of injury so Bucs can spend the $20 million on DBs and Oline. Bucs should replace GMC, Grimes and Kwon next year and are going to have to sign Donovan Smith and Humphries, although they can continue to lose without them. I’ll never for the life of me understand how some people think JW will turn it around. Bucs should draft a QB in the 3d round at least but hopefully Licht and Koetter will be gone.

  63. ZammyPup Says:

That’s actually Fitz’s #whiteprivilege, it’s the only explanation i can come up with after all these are the same people that thought Mike Glennon was NFL starter material.

  65. jjbucfan Says:

Anyone stop to think that maybe Koetter can’t coach- I have. It is only staring you in the face every week. took 4 years to fire the DC, Took 3 years to fire himself as the play caller. He sucks and always has for us. So when we get rid of Jameis, anyone confident that Dirk will lead us to the Super Bowl in the next hundred years? If not than STFU. Brady has 7 career 4 interception games- you know who started the game after all of those? Even had back-to-back ones in 2010- his 10th year in the league.

  66. HeavyE Says:

Winston, is still a Buccaneer!!!!! Go Bucs!!!!

  67. VFL98 Says:

PLAY WINSTON!! You would be a fool not to. If we had a championship defense and were on our way to the SB then I can see it, but Winston isn’t the problem here idiots, sure he isn’t doing great but if you know sports there are a lot more problems then just the interceptions. MY GOD you Tampa fans don’t know very much about football do you?? IF you let Winston go and someone coaches him the right way he will probably be MVP of a superbowl one day and Tampa will still be at the bottom. PLAY WINSTON!!

  68. Gobucs Says:

    DB55

You’ve done nothing but make excuses for 4 years for Winston.
Come to this place we call reality. JW isn’t the guy and it’s obvious to most people with eyes.
And here you are STILL looking for ways to blame someone else for his awful play.

    You’re yapping has worn thin.

  69. doolnutts Says:

I am not even defending Koetter when I type this… I am just curious honesty, what is a new coaching staff going to do for Winston? His problems are decision making PERIOD END OF STORY. We have the #1 overall offense in the NFL so we can’t blame scheme. This situation isn’t the Titan’s mess. Not only do we have the #1 offense but it seems as though Fitzpatrick has ZERO ISSUES running it.

I don’t think we just quit on Winston either but right now the best thing for him might be to sit back study and regroup.

At the end of the day I want the team to succeed. I would love if we pulled off a couple wins and moved forward but that is unlikely.

  70. Rod Munch Says:

The same morons that want to run Winston out of town were the same idiots in 1986 that wanted to run Steve Young out of town – and believe me, Steve Young looked about 100x worse than Jameis has. Additionally these same idiots that say Winston needs to go are the same morons that say Mariota is a great QB. They’re not very smart people and they know as much about football as a diabetics toe nail.

With that said sitting Winston for this week is A-OK, his record versus the Panthers isn’t good and being 3-5 means the season is over. Always said ride the hot hand and while Jameis would be 2-1 with a decent kicker versus Fitz being 2-2, if Fitz is hot right now, play him – he’ll return to being Fitz in a game or two and then you go back to Winston. The team has to win right this second or it’s over, and against the Panthers, I think both will struggle, but perhaps Fitz won’t. Regardless Winston is the long term answer and if he’s not, if the Bucs do something insane like get rid of him, then it’s back to another 20 years of losing and game manager QBs like Mike Glennon.

  71. Noles Says:

I am sure all the non FSU posters will call me a homer but our secondary is aweful & not sure Vea is anything but a 3-4 NT.. I could care less where they went to school always want the best player for Bucs even if they are Gators or Hurricanes.. bring them in please… lol….

    #NOEXCUSESIN2018!!!!!….#PRESSURESONTHECOACHES!!!!…GO BUCS!!!!

  76. Rob Says:

You don’t bring in a new offensive coach when the offense is the one thing on this team that isn’t broken.

You bring in an entirely new defensive staff, and whether Jameis is the guy or not, Fitz can be your holdover until you draft and develop a new first round QB.

  77. WyomingBucsFan Says:

Its obvious to me that Ownership has instructed the GM to not make any trades. We can all speculate as to why.

  78. gotbbucs Says:

If Fitzpatrick comes in and continues to do well then the answer to the riddle is obvious.
Either way, neither one of these guys is a long term answer. It’s just a question of who’s going to screw up the least and thus who gives you the best chance to win. The future is now, dont worry about next season until next season. Everybody us so worried about what the team will look like in five years. It’s the 2018 season that matters. It’s the 2018 season that decides the fate of many people. Do you think any of the players in that locker room care who the QB is next year? No. They want to win now.

  79. I’m a Tandyman Bucs Fan Says:

Well guess The Bucs are going to keep Jameis! Didn’t see his name flash up on the Screen

  80. I’m a Tandyman Bucs Fan Says:

Guess Jameis made the trade deadline. Didn’t see his name pop up on the ESPN Screen. Was kinda hoping he was going ti end up in Buffalo!!

  81. Jerry Jones Says:

I get it, and they’re right but I sure as hell dont like it.

  82. Bird Says:

Go check out Trevor Sikemma write up on Jameis. – pewter report

    He nailed it.

He is not a Noles fan. He is a huge buc fan though. and doesn’t care to manhandle a guys junk like some posters her

  83. jjbucfan Says:

So what if Fitzpatrick sh*ts the bed like he did in game 3 and 4 and has for most of his 14 year career? What then geniuses? Dirk Koetter should have gone in to that locker room after our game and tell everyone to shut the F up!! Winston will be our starter next week and Fitz will be ready if something happens to JW3. That is how you win over a locker room. Then he should have to D Jax he has just been traded to the Bills Giants for 2 tickets to Hamilton and the next time you try to divide my locker room will be the last time you play in this league. That is how you rally a locker room. Dirk sucks- he can’t manage a game, can’t manage coaching staff and can’t manage his own players. But let’s let him coach up another QB other than the guy that holds not only the Bucs record in his first 3 1/2 years but a lot of NFL records as well. SMDH!!

  84. jjbucfan Says:

BTW, I guess we are okay with our RG play!!! SMDH

  85. DB55 Says:

  86. SB Says:

You posted this SAME video yesterday Joe.

  87. Ed Says:

I still want a qb that can get rid of the ball and doesn’t run around under pressure, take sacks, fumble, just throw the damn ball away like all the other good qbs do. Winston and his Fran Tarkenton imitation don’t cut it. He’s a big guy he has a big arm but he can’t time his throws and he can’t put any air under the ball. So many of his passes are thrown too hard when they need to come in soft and then you have that perfect example at Cinn when he scrambled to his right, Adam Humphries was sliding down, ready to make an easy first down and Jamies hangs a curve ball that didn’t get there fast enough. He is a disaster, when you bring pressure, he doesn’t find hot read, he commits to certain throws and there are guys open elsewhere, he can’t find them. Give me a QB that throws for 250-300 yards a game and doesn’t turn it over vs a 400 yard performance with 2-3 interceptions. Not winning football.

  88. WalkdaPlank Says:

The Jameis Mob has completely LOST IT! Lol! They haven’t been sober a single minute since their golden child got BENCHED. They are going ballistic with all the non-stop excuses. “Fitz threw 3 INT’s in a quarter” but conviently forget Jameis has thrown 10 in 13 quarters and 4 in one game. “But..but..BRETT FAVRE AND PEYTON MANNING THREW PICKS!!” Those guys were WINNERS and HALL OF FAMERS, Jameis is neither. And my favorite one from Rod Munch “He played in bad weather against the Bengals and three those picks!!”

You can’t make this stuff up.

Well, I guess if you’re in the Jameis Mob you CAN’

  89. JabooBuc Says:

DB55- do you even watch the games? Please watch the Pittsburgh game and tell me which INT was Fitz’s fault. Two tips and Mike Evan cut off his route which he admitted.

With JW, there is no question who’s fault it is. They are just awful forces throws.

  90. Jameis Almighty! Says:

What a great article. Suck it Jameis Haters, he’s here to stay. Fitzpatrick is gonna get his tail whooped against Carolina. Jameis should be starting. No question about it.

  91. Jameis Almighty! Says:

If anyone should be starting against the Panthers, it’s Ryan griffin. Give him a chance. He’s 28 and his clock is ticking.. let’s see what the Bucs have with him. Jameis needs to take a break until the new staff and management come in and fix things. Can’t have anymore crappy drafts by There Is No Licht at the End of the tunnel Jason Licht.

  92. LakeLand Says:

    Noles

    I wanted Derwin James
And i went crazy on here, when they passed him up

  93. Pryda Says:

Fire the coach !!!! Jameis needs a mike Tomlin coach who has his back!

  94. TheNorm Says:

    Rod Munch

Shut up everyone is tired of the excuse making. Winston has proven he isn’t the guy and it’s painfully obvious to everyone except a few of you complete idiots. (You’re one by the way). Your boy is benched for a 35year old back up. That should say enough. But nope here you come finding any way possible to make an excuse for Winston’s poor play.

Just stfu already. You and DB55 both. Idiots.

  95. BigMacAttack Says:

The reason Jameis was kept us because nobody wanted his sorry A$$

  96. BigMacAttack Says:

  97. Dooshlarue Says:

I wonder what webster changed his name to?

  98. DB55 Says:

I finally figured it out! I have the solution!

I went back and watched film and know why Winston is struggling. Man, I hope Koetter and Winston are reading this post. The reason he’s struggling is bc he’s not licking his fingers before a pass attempt. Lick them fingers then Eat them W’s Jameis and everything will be alright.

  99. TouchDownTampaBay Says:

Adam stop talking out of your a$$ you clown. You are no psychiatrist so stfu! Jameis ability to get out of the pocket and avoid sacks is one of his strengths so stfu on that stupidity as well.

  100. Gobucs Says:

    @joes

Most of my posts are not showing up.

Am I banned or something for calling out FSU homers?

  101. Gobucs Says:

    @joes

And if I am banned can you atleast let me know so I can stop trying to comment

  102. Tvan1011 Says:

Jameis can’t throw a deep pass with accuracy which means he isnt the guy for any team. I am a former winston backer but after last week not anymore. Those were possibly the 4 worst passes in bucs history. They were so ugly he didnt even know what he was looking at. In year 4 there is no excuse winston is cooked looking like a deer in the headlights against a bad Bengals defense.

  103. Dapostman Says:

Fitzpatrick is going to start as long as the Bucs are in contention. Once they are eliminated Winston will go back in to see if he’s learned anything by sitting. Right now Winston (Nuke Laloosh of the NFL) is going to be treated like a rookie QB who is going to have to wait until the team is out of it. Then Winston will play probably the last 4 games or so to see if he’s turned the corner. That’s my take on where Licht and Koetter are headed. They know Winston has the physical talent. Need to see the mental talent soon but they can not sacrifice the season at this time.

  104. stpetebucsfan Says:

    DB55

Like you dude and there was a time I respected your posts but you’re becoming a sad joke.

You have NOTHING left to sell…no real story about the loser and so you DISTRACT and point out other failures…Man I can see you as a kid….DB55 why did you do that? Well look at what Bobby did?

NOBODY here is selling Fitz as hard as you guys sell JW. We have pointed out POSSIBILITIES but acknowledged we need a backup plan because Fitz is NOT the guy we’re touting. We’re simply saying RIGHT NOW he’s clearly outplaying Jameis and OUT LEADING him in the locker room.

  105. Buc1987 Says:

    The season is still young.

  106. stpetebucsfan Says:

When Jameis came out this blog split into three groups.

Those who loved Jameis…some haters…some lovers of MM.

I was neither…I thought Jameis was the better passer…MM the better overall athlete. I felt it was a close call but in the end I just thought Jameis was the better QB. I worried about his off field crap but 87 kept lecturing me and he won me over. Give the kid a chance. Then he goes out and gets blind drunk at 3AM with Trouble Darby and a guy CONVICTED of rape. How did Fameis do that to us one year after ALL of us took the big chance on him. I still hung in there until Sunday…no I didn’t quit on him for ONE game…he’s had three games with 4 ints…3 more with 3 ints and I realize I’ve just been like many here…desperate for a franchise QB….so we still need one but I’m no longer desperate.

The third group during the draft debate were the ones who were actually correct and they were the smallest group. We should have traded down and grabbed a BUNCH of picks.

LUV….you were correct brother. You usually are. I think AE might have been in that group as well.

  107. DB55 Says:

    SPBF

Wait! Which post? Come on bro you know Fitz is garbage that’s no secret. I’m pretty sure he’ll throw 5 ints on Sunday and then posters will say something like this …..watch the game and tell me which INT was Fitz’s fault. Two tips and Mike Evan cut off his route which he admitted.

I said sunday was the worst game of Winston’s career but I see no need to throw out a perfectly good QB but wtfdik

  108. DB55 Says:

    SPBF

You gotta admit that having to play perfect and score at least 40 points to win a game is more than any other QB is asked to do. Let’s be real for a minute.

  109. SchlomieBarmitzahCircumScissorStein Says:

    It’s Bruce Gradkowski’s fault.

  110. TheDailyAutopsy Says:

Terry Bradshaw and John Elway sucked their first 3-4 years before they figured out how to throw significantly more TDS than INTs.
Tell me a real viable option to Jameis.
I love Fitzmagic, but he is not a long term answer.
If Canazaro made his PATs and kicked his short field goals the Bucs would be 5-2 instead of 3-4.
    Winning solves most things.

  111. Bird Says:

    Db5$

Wow. No duhhhhh. He is a gator- it’s in his posts. He is not a Nole fan was my joke.
    You are blind and deaf.

On your post about Jameis licking fingers. Funny you just spoke out about your dream last night. Dude- Please take your hands off that mans junk

  112. Bird Says:

    Bwtfdik?

  113. stpetebucsfan Says:

Bobby Beathard is perhaps the GOAT of NFL GM’S. His teams reached seven Super Bowls winning four of them and one of his most famous theories….the draft is a crap shoot…50-50 success at best…so he traded down every chance he could.

LUV and others here made the correct choice in the Jameis/MM debate. Take neither and trade down to load up on picks. Imagine where we’d be now with that much more talent on the team.

BTW this doesn’t change with QB’s and not even in the first round!!!

    https://www.cleveland.com/datacentral/index.ssf/2015/04/success_for_quarterbacks_picke.html

Two things are true about finding a so-called franchise quarterback in the NFL Draft.

Nearly all the good ones are picked in the first round.

But even those chosen near the very top of the first round carry a less than 50-50 chance of turning out to be winners

There was alway a 50-50 chance Jameis or MM would fail or perhaps reach mediocrity. Looks like both of them are tanking.

  114. BigMacAttack Says:

I still think Winston is nearsighted and can’t see 4 💩

  115. Kobe Faker Says:

“There will be a new President of operations next year

Glazer boys will give full control to the Prez. They admit too close of relationship with meathead GM and all his BSing

Gump and Klueless is out on black monday

Prez decides JW future before march 13th

These next 8 games are meaningless…

Glazer boys will only make 1 decision and the newly appointed president of operations will decide all”

    Kobe Faker

  116. Duthsty Rhothdes Says:

Baffling that ol jason gump tells everyone that bucs are playoff ready (whats he looking at) then you could instantly upgrade defense with 3 players that are available for draft picks or maybe a WR…… also why is it licht always talking when the bucs winning but never a peep the other 50 games they’ve been losing. Time to hit reset on entire franchise

  117. BucEmUp Says:

I agree ….if you look at Koetter and then look at Jameis, Koetter has way more issues with coaching performance than Winston does on field. Winston has only had one offensive Dirk had failed as a head coach and is the reason he has regressed. Mariotra had regressed qbs hit walls. I can see this kid winning on another team and I don’t want that to happen.

    Dirk failed this team

  118. FortMyersDave Says:

Kobe is wrong about one big point. The next 8 or 9 games are important. Wins keep Koetter employed. Losing helps the Bucs next April. Flush em down Browns have figured that out by firing Hue Brown and Todd Haley and letting a guy whose claim to fame is Bounty Gate coach (Gregg Williams)their franchise to 2-13-1 with a top 3 draft pick to grab the best available talent for the next head coach to build around. Here in Tampa the way to tank would be to let Winston start and lose, go 4 and 12 and see what you can draft with the 5th or 6th draft pick BUT Koetter apparently is trying to salvage his job by playing the best available player, a bit too late as usual for Dirk as Jameis should have got the half time hook in Cincy but it looks like he is not tanking when in fact if the team is not going to win 9, what does 7 and 9 do for the franchise? I want the team to win bu at times it can cost the team dearly (Gaines Adams instead of Megatron or Joe Thomas and Vea instead of Chubb or Quinton Nelson)……

  119. FortMyersDave Says:

Kobe is wrong. The next 8 games matter. The Browns Giants and Raiders are already tanking for April. Bucs will likely just win enough to miss the marquee players. Gaines Adams instead of Megatron or Joe Thomas. Vea instead of Chubb or Quinton Nelson. Its a Bucs fans life.

  120. Jeffbuc Says:

All you jameis supporters. Ask yourself two questions and answer them truthfully. Question 1 has the talent around jameis on offense gotten better since his rookie year. Any logical person answers that with a yes.

Question number 2. Has jameis gotten better since his rookie year. Any logical person would answer that with a no.

So what is the point of keeping him. So what next year when he keeps making these same bone headed throws. We can then try to address the qb position. How many times have we heard after a game jameis admit the he has to quit making bad decisions with the football. He knows he has to quit doing it and yet when his natural instinct kicks in he can’t keep from doing it. If it hasn’t been coached out of him in 4 years when him and everyone around him knows he needs to. It is never going to happen. He is as good as he will ever be right now.

He might go to another team where they simplify the offense and do three step drops and then throw it. Then he will be a game manager on a muddling team every year. You can not count on him to win you games as is evident with his record and 50 games of tape. But you can count on him to lose you a lot of games as evident on 50 games of tape.

Any reasonable person could see that the offense looked like a different explosive offense when Fitzpatrick came in. Even the announcers said as soon as Fitzpatrick came in the linebackers and safeties started playing deeper because now they were scared of the deep ball. Opposing teams have said multiple times they want jameis to throw the ball because they know he will give them a couple.

He is done in Tampa and I’m sure with his new team 3-4 times a season he is going to throw for 300 yards and 3-4 tds. And you will all be on here saying I told you so. But the other 13-14 games when he is typical jameis with two plus picks you won’t make a peep. You know everyone one of you would be thrilled if the saints got him to succeed Brees. Because you know you could look forward to 4-6 int in the two games we play them.

  121. lambchop Says:

People act like Miss Cleo. Let the 2018 season play out first of all with Fitz as the QB, he’s going to surprise people more with his good play. Why are people stuck in the past when he played with other teams, schemes, and players?

    Retarded.

We will have time to go after a veteran like Nick Foles, we don’t need to start over with the draft.

  122. Joe Says:

Question number 2. Has jameis gotten better since his rookie year. Any logical person would answer that with a no.

Actually, the logical answer is yes he did! The meltdown took place after the suspension.

  123. jjbucfan Says:

Pork chop- you ask why people act like Miss Cleo and then you “predict” that Fitz will surprise people. Classic Snowflake, accuse people of doing something, all the while doing it yourself and not even recognizing the irony.

  124. Tvan1011 Says:

We need to hit the reset button with a new president of team operations and go from there. I thought licht was decent until he drafted vea over trymaine Edwards, derwin james and the cb with green bay Alexander. Oh and let’s not forget Romo over Kerryon Johnson. Fire everybody and trade anyone you can Including Americas turnover machine winston who isnt on a rookie contract or JPP. This is my first time commenting I have had enough.

  125. ATrain Says:

Ok so keep Jamies and hope he shows his talent

He had a problem in college with turnovers but in college he could over come

I think he had talent have to figure out how to bring it out. How long do we wait

    His play
    His lockerroom presences
    Both fail with this team

What do u think is going to happen he will just stop throwing INT.

  126. FortMyersDave Says:

Jameis is not a leader. Jameis is still a kid. Jameis has some skills but obviously has issues which this coaching staff has been unable to diagnose and or correct. In time he could improve but there is also a good chance that this is his ceiling….

A big problem is that this team has no leadership, no veteran presence that will call out poor play and lack of discipline. I thought Kwon might be that kind of player after he went after Swaggy Baker but he is out of the equation now. Fitz and JPP could Be leaders. The offense seems to go into overdrive with him in the huddle but that D is a trainwreck.

  127. Brad Isherwood Says:

JW has ghosts of Florida haunt him.
He is Cane’d by the League for his sins.
He has Florida media hound him.
He Knows Florida Legal System make money $$ on him.
Then JW crappy play …year after year for Bucs.

    He’s Fainted from it all.

Probably could locate to another NFL team where the general public has no clue about him

    He’s done folks…
If he went to the Dolphins it would still be the same Jinx.

JW has some football left in him…
He better step up,…as the $$ is leaving his career.
Obviously Koetter has no clue how to manage this wreck.
It’s dragging the entire team down.
JW needs to go……so the Bucs can move on!

  128. Joe Says:

Probably could locate to another NFL team where the general public has no clue about him

What North American fanbase doesn’t know about Jameis Winston?

  129. Warthog Says:

Worst fan takes on this website:

    1. We can easily replace Winston with someone better so just cut him (this is incredibly untrue, especially in 2018 where more and more games end up as shootouts. Game-manager QBs are no longer viable starters)

    2. Winston has a mental illness that makes him throw picks (lmao at that one)

    3. Fitzpatrick can start for us for a few years (every time in his career that he’s started for more than one season, he has imploded worse than Jameis)

  130. OneBucPerson Says:

Still think the issues with Winston all come down to coaching, guarantee you that if we let Winston loose then what is going to happen is that he’s gonna become Steve Young 2.0. By which I mean he’s gonna go to a competent organization, sit behind an experienced HC and an aging star QB, and by the time he becomes a starter again he’s going to show us that we made a mistake by cutting ties with him. To be honest with how cancerous this fan base has been the last couple of years we deserve to see that happen.

  131. Brad Isherwood Says:

    @Joe says:

What North American fanbase doesn’t know about Jameis Winston?

    Hey Bro…

This is tragedy,….like a Father. …kick a son out of the house.
JW could rebound in another NFL city where public are usual limited memory and limited interest.
If**…The Media left JW alone,….he’s just another trade and hoped for prospect.
It’s actually a Merciful event for someone who is dramatically Over paid on wanting Professional Football skills.

The Bucs need to move on Joe.
This media circus is dragging the entire team down.

One Bucs Palace needs to own Their* mistake ….gamble on FSU wreck.
I’d even cheer if Fitz magic got traded,
At least Someone who performed to NFL salary level… actually Shined on TV.

Trying like hell to find the positive… in this shipwreck : (
