Bucs In “Messy” Situation

June 23rd, 2018

Has team in a pinch.

The Bucs, if you embrace a report from solid reporter Jeff Darlington of ESPN, are stuck between a rock and a hard place.

On one hand you have a loud, vocal sect of Bucs fans demanding the team release America’s Quarterback, Pro Bowler Jameis Winston. On the other hand, it would be parting ways with the best quarterback in franchise history and a player Team Glazer has long coveted, at a position they fired a Super Bowl-winning coach over.

In short, Darlington states the Bucs are waiting on the full report from the NFL on its investigation into Jameis’ hassle with an Uber driver in Arizona.

Yesterday, BSPN had a report that an attorney representing a convicted rapist doing 15 years in the hole claimed there were two Uber rides Jameis was involved in during the night in question. The attorney also claimed Jameis was hammered and “unruly” that evening and was sent away along in an Uber from the drinking establishment Jameis was at with the notorious Ronald Darby and the yet-to-be convicted rapist.

Darlington suggests Team Glazer and Bucs AC/DC-loving general manager Jason Licht are waiting to see the report from the NFL investigation before doing or saying anything.

You can view Darlington’s report below.

    TRade his ass

  2. DB55 Says:

I love how this story went from grabbing the woman’s lap to the r-word being repeated over and over again.

  3. Tampabaybucfan Says:

Sure….you wait on the report…..what else could you do….you can’t really comment on the news until it’s official….

    Second Chances

Most of us believe in second chances….it’s simply in our nature to forgive the forgivable….but here is the question:

Is this Jameis’ second chance…..or was his second chance being drafted with all the baggage?

For me, it’s his second chance and he should be granted an opportunity to survive and perhaps thrive……after all, Mike Vick paid his dues and played again…..ASJ $hit all over I 275 and he’s playing…..what about Big Ben?

The part of this that is the wild card isn’t the alleged behavior…..it is the cover-up and deception surrounding it……that goes to the trust issue.

So, the Glazers and Buc organization has to trust Jameis going forward on two fronts……can he fly straight?……will he deal with them honestly?

His teammates will be the first to forgive him……some fans will be the last….but they will eventually give him a break…..but he’ll have to earn it with them…..by winning and that is the only way.
That is the way Big Ben did it.

  4. Chris Says:

Repeated actions is a pattern. This man well scum bag will nev r learn.

How the glazers can forget the incident at Florida state where he got away with things is pathetic. If they don’t move on from this clown then I’ve lost all respect towards this franchise, the glazers and Jason Licht. Until they get people who do things the right way, it’ll forever be a dump.

  5. BucsFanScout3 Says:

Keep faith in Jameis… this is nearly 2-years old and he is soon to be a father with his longtime sweetheart and fiancé. Become a father and husband alone will change then childish ways that have got Jameis in trouble in the past. He’s not a bad egg but rather a person who has been in a couple bad situations where his fame has been leveraged against him. Bucs fans are notorious of being band wagoners and lacking loyalty. Be different with Famous Jameis for once and support him.

  6. Anonymous Says:

I can’t wait for the Bucs to move on from Jameis, I was getting tired of all the turnovers and on field antics (eating your fingers, really???), the off field stuff is just icing on a really bad cake.

I think there’s a lesson to be learned from this and the Freeman debacle as well. Maybe we as Bucs fans should stop anointing every QB we draft as the “savior” of the Franchise. How about we just let them play and if they end up taking us anywhere besides last place in the division, then we can celebrate. We don’t need to make some scrub who hasn’t earned anything or played a snap in the NFL yet feel like they run the team.

Also, Freeman’s 2010 season > any of Jameis’ seasons so far lol

  7. Perimeter Blocker Says:

Joe, please spell out the facts with Ira on his podcast Tuesday! Since the Buc organization isn’t doing their job and communicating with season ticket holders. I have a lot of money invested and Winston holds the ball every offensive play. The least this organization can do is communicate!

  8. University of Seffner Says:

I hope the NFL hurries up and releases their report. I don’t care what the details are at this point, we as fans deserve to hear 100% of the evidence, not a statement with a few sentences. The Bucs and Jameis Winston need to have a press conference and try to explain the matter before Training Camp.

  9. WillieG Says:

I see you’re deleting comments Joe. Are you trying to shape public opinion in case the Glazers read this?

[People are getting out of hand. Joe is responsible for every word on this site. How many times does Joe have to explain this? — Joe]

  10. Blue-footed booby Says:

I keep seeing people on here post stuff saying to the effect of “Oh it was 2 years ago, Jameis has matured since then and is getting married, becoming a father, etc.”

Here’s my response: What about Kate? Perhaps Kate is still struggling to get over what happened on that night, she even detailed in that BuzzFeed story about how she was frozen in fear about Winston retaliating in the Uber car because he’s so much bigger and stronger than her.

I for one cannot just sweep this incident under the rug and keep Winston on the roster. Unless some 11th hour info comes out that vindicates Winston, there is no way I can support this team until Winston is gone from the roster period.

  11. IndianaBuc Says:

Sooooooo is there footage or is it just word of mouth?

  12. DB55 Says:

    Chris and Blue

I hope you guys have enough fuel for your tiki torches.

  13. AlteredEgo Says:

I can not even look at Jameis…..

  14. T REX Says:

I do not want this scumbag representing our city and team. Dude is human garbage. Darby is a liar and he was a key witness at FSU. Jameis is human trash and it needs to be taken out. See ya.

  15. tval Says:

Chris is soooooo angry. I suggest anger management classes

  16. Dewey Selmon Says:

Really feel bad for Breion Allen, and she is getting ready to have his baby and marry him.

  17. Bucnut2 Says:

Look this guy is what he is, an average turnover prone NFL QB, with questionable judgment on and off the field. Heres’ the nth the Glazers should do: wins-headache= do we keep Winton. The guy has a .33 win percentage and is a big pain in the arse= dump him. Not to mention that if the worst of this mess is true, he’s a serial predator. I would not want my daughter anywhere near this guy.

  18. Bucnut2 Says:

    math

  19. tval Says:

You’ll get what the NFL and bucs WANT YOU TO SEE..NOTHING MORE!! and your 1 ticket and jersey, every 5 years, doesn’t matter one stinking bit..jameis triggers haters

  20. AlteredEgo Says:

[Not sure why Jameis’ fiancé is invoked but stop it. She has nothing to do with the Bucs. — Joe]

  21. AlteredEgo Says:

    Drew Lock ….2019

  22. Maze Says:

Yep not supporting a potential sexual predator until all the facts come out makes you a racist. Smh

  23. tval Says:

And ANYONE with nerve to search Jameis’s wife’s name, and pretend to be genuinely concerned, is human trash…period

  24. Chris Says:

Yeah mycomments got deleted. Trying to save face for America’s scumbag?

  25. AlteredEgo Says:

    Chris…tons of censoring going on….

[For good reason. Couple of posters including you are getting out of hand. — Joe.]

  26. tval Says:

Your hate filled commentary is transparent and tactless, Chris..you are a hateful human being.. That is all

  27. LargoBuc Says:

Waiting for the full report is fair. As a fan im trying not to go overboard yet, but this just dosent look good at the moment.

  28. unbelievable Says:

Darlington states the Bucs are waiting on the full report from the NFL on its investigation into Jameis’ hassle with an Uber driver in Arizona

    Uh, yea.

What else would a professional team do? Unless they already knew something heinous was going to be made public, why would they take any action before even seeing the letter and report from the league? That would make no sense, despite what over-reactionary fans think…

  29. Jff Says:

Jameis case not so “ skrong “ anymore.

  30. jmarkbuc Says:

Report is gonna say as little as possible

  31. Jff Says:

[For good reason. Couple of posters including you are getting out of hand. — Joe.]

I have never posted anything inappropriate…I have been in the cooler since I posted under your 42 minute Podcast…Joe doe not like Koetter ….Joe simply does not like me…..you have my email address if you want to show me an example of “getting out of hand”

  33. Joe Says:

    Perimeter:

Communicate what? The NFL hasn’t notified the Bucs of anything.

  34. D-Rome Says:

Keep faith in Jameis… this is nearly 2-years old and he is soon to be a father with his longtime sweetheart and fiancé.

Longtime sweetheart….that’s an angle I haven’t heard anyone really talk about. I mean, I know my wife would leave if I was accused of sexual assault and I didn’t contest the charges.

  35. passthebuc Says:

it would seem that the choice is simple.
you do the old pro vs con.
    pro–he has youth
Con– he has off field problems
Pro– he is a good qb
Con– he is only a good qb
When you get to the bottom, you make a decision of if you give him a chance to earn 100 million of your money.

I cannot tell you how the Glazers will decide, however, HW did not make it in my pro and con analysis.

  36. Buc believer Says:

It’s not just the decision makers as to why we are the laughing stock of the NFL , all you self righteous dumb ass fans calling for Jameis to be released are a big reason we have sucked for so long as well. I don’t give two spits if my NFL team is a bunch of shady characters. I don’t live with them and I only have to see them kick some arse on Sundays. THAT is the only important thing. I you want choir boys go to church.

  37. DB55 Says:

I do not want this scumbag representing our city and team.
    —————-
Lol. One of the worst franchises in all of sports and one of the poorest and least educated cities in America.

Should I translate what he really means? Naw.

  38. Bird Says:

    Alteredego

You know Jameis is off limits with this one joe. Careful what you say. You can rip other players just not him.

I think joe calling Jameis “americas quarterback ” is already out of hand. It’s honestly just shameful But sure I will get blasted for it too.

    Joejameisfan.com

  39. DB55 Says:

    Joe

You know what’s really frustrating? Is that the national media is reporting that this story broke on Friday with Cameron’s radio show when in fact JBF has been on it since Jan or Feb? Where’s the love? I would love to hear BSPN shout out JBF on SC. That’s a big step up from Justin Powloski

  40. passthebuc Says:

    I did not indicate release.
What i said is that I’m not going to throw the big dollar long-term contract.
I am not going to pick up his 5th year. I am going to try to sign him to a 4 year deal at back up money or he can take the run at free agency. I am also going to tell him that I intend on drafting a top line QB for the future. If, you can win the job and keep your life clean, we will talk more money in 4 years.

  41. Dooshlarue Says:

Dang Webster do you change your name daily now?
    Loser.

  42. AlteredEgo Says:

A modest proposal…. ask Jameis to write the behavior clauses in his next contact, maybe if he actually wrote in his own words the behaviors he will avoid it might sink into his conciseness things that are unacceptable for a person of his stature

  43. Tampabaybucfan Says:

The NFL is a business…..the Glazers will have the leverage on Winston when contract time comes…..I believe they will and should sign him to a team-friendly contract with all sorts of performance and conduct clauses.

My prediction is that he will get another chance……now if he can stop fumbling and accept a team chaperone all will be good.

Fans will mostly eventually forgive and accept Jameis as their QB….but, Joe….he will never….and I repeat never….be America’s QB.

  44. BucEmUp Says:

So now he was hammered in the off-season.

Bucs are.going to cut him and lose out on another franchise qb. This team is frieking cursed I swear it’s always something.

What team do you think he wins a ring with? You know.its gonna happen!

No arrests, no evidence….this is b.s

  45. Posey99 Says:

I hope all the Winston fans cling to him until the end… We had a perfectly good shot at MM and we blew in for an underacheiving bone head. Can’t wait to hear all the excuses from Americans QB tribe.

  46. Posey99 Says:

we aren’t cursed we just make bad decisions

  47. satchseven Says:

Here’s my response: What about Kate? Perhaps Kate is still struggling to get over what happened on that night, she even detailed in that BuzzFeed story about how she was frozen in fear about Winston retaliating in the Uber car because he’s so much bigger and stronger than her.

oh please that is some crap straight out of jim crow.that sounds like something david duke wrote, she was coached to say that mess…… broke chick looking to get paid now.

  48. Pete I Says:

Well, no matter what, the Glazers have a PR problem. And in this current climate its a bad problem to have. To bad JW wasn’t a better Quarterback, as such, he isn’t and its going to take awhile to blow over, if it does . Very disappointed

  49. Buccaneer scotty Says:

    John 8 versus 7

  50. Buccaneer scotty Says:

Let those who are without sin cast the first stone

  51. Frank Pillow Says:

If they are waiting on the report and don’t have a good view into things from their own security team, then they are supreme fools. This is a buy time planted story to explain the lack of public acknowledgement by anyone in the organization. It’s also the right tactical move under the circumstances- but pls don’t think these guys are really ignorant to what’s going on.

  52. Buccfan37 Says:

How about One of Americas Quarterbacks? That should lighten some loafers.

  53. Jff Says:

Tua or Fromm 2020 trade Winston get some picks and a vet qb

  54. tnew Says:

Once again, I would caution against jumping to conclusions on either side before the report is released. Then, anyone can put their opinion out for all to discuss. Today, things look worse than they did two days ago; however, this is all coming from supposition about a leaked report. Most people, including media, are inferring what they “know” based on non-official information. Plenty of time to defend or discard Winston at this point. Right now the only thing you can convict Winston of is bad judgment, which he is undoubtedly guilty of. With his persona and net worth, even after his rookie season, not to have a personal driver hired EVERY time he is partying with his boys is just dumb. Just think, for around $2000 (I’m talking luxury limo, discretion tip included) all of this is avoided.

  55. Sc Bucs fan Says:

It amazes me how people are rushing to judgement without facts or hearing anything from JW or his camp. Actually I’m not, using facts to make decisions went away with the rise of the internet.

  56. Sc Bucs fan Says:

To be fair TNew he could have just as easily grabbed a personal limo driver

  57. Dewey Selmon Says:

If he was intoxicated and unruly and had to be throw into a Uber. Isn’t it better for him to claim he remembers nothing? I’m not making excuses, but it sost of gives him an out. Not to remember vs I remember and I screwed up.

  58. Sc Bucs fan Says:

Dewey for the life of me I can’t understand how he is saying nothing

  59. Destinjohnny Says:

I think I might take a 24 year old brad johnson over 3

  60. BrianBucs Says:

I’m calling BS here. The Bucs and the Winston camp know what is in the report, because it has already been negotiated down from 6 games to 3. Wouldn’t be a negotiation without the information being shared

  61. AlteredEgo Says:

Dewey….it most certainly is too late for Jameis to say nothing…it seems he has built his own trap with his inconsistent contradictory statements….at this point the sexual assault ,he said /she said…is not provable….but Jameis’s .. inconsistent contradictory statements…..have painted himself into a corner…the kid needs a year away from football getting his adult life together…..of course there are his on field issues that need to be addressed and are probably as difficult to correct and his off field transgressions

  62. Erik w/ Clean Athletics Says:

Dang…. Going straight for the p*ssy used to be one of my trademarked moves…

It literally worked 50% of the time. (only in drunken partying situations, obviously)

And I’ve seen many girls do the same thing in certain scenarios. (They literally just start grabbing d*cks)

  63. Sc Bucs fan Says:

Keeping is classy Erik, keeping it classy

  64. SB Says:

Hey DestinJohnny are you going to let me off the hook for our bet in light of this?
I will still honor it if you say no, however I wasn’t factoring a 3 game suspension for JW. Up to you man.

  65. LouBucfan Says:

This Story Fire bombed Tampa Bay Fans! We have to wait for the official story! These stories are concerning,I hope JW has something to back his side of the story of false claims, maybe banks is covering for himself by burying Jaboo! We will not know and who knows if the truth will come out. I’m not implying that JW is innocent! Joes say it aint so! We invested time and money in this QB! Don’t want to start over!

  66. Capt.Tim Says:

I now believe this is the SECOND time Ronald Darby lied to protect Jameis.

I also now believe that Jameis is going to be incapable of making good decisions. On or off the field.
A concern I’ve voiced many times timeds before, in my post.

I posted numerous times, before the draft- that we should have drafted a QB with our first pick.
At best, we would be prepared for this.
At Worst, we let the rookie and Jameis battle it out- and trade the lesser right before the season starts. QBs are at the highest value- right after a few starters go down in preseason.

This team is actually pretty solid with talent now. But it will take a year for our your RB corp and Secondary to solidify, and we are really a contender.

Can we trust Jameis? No. Should we? No.
He has proven that his decidion making cant be trusted.
Fly withe Fitz? He had a winning record with this team last year, 2-1
    Jameis was 3-10.
Do we trade For another QB? Buffalo would trade their rookie for Jameis.

Tough choices ahead for Team Glazer. One thing is obvious. With 100 of millions on the line- Jameis made this kind of choice.

He doesnt have the sense to lead this team to the playoffs.

  67. Capt.Tim Says:

    DB55.
From your post, I know what sort of “Person” you are.
You serm to be drawn to the very dregs of layers in the NFL. The worse their offense, the more endeared they are to you.

Could you imagine if a lot of people celebrated lawlessness the way you seem to? This country would be nothing but neighborhoods full of crime and violence!
You wouldnt be safe to walk the streets. Kids would have to worry about being killed while they are playing!!

Yeah, who would want to live like that?

  68. Mike Johnson Says:

I’ll have a double order of crab legs sent over sir. The blond in the bikini we discussed at the beach will do just fine. And Ohhh, Make sure an Uber picks her up in 4 hours. We should be..finished by then.

  69. AlteredEgo Says:

Capt Tim….The franchise simply can not operate under this drama ….how they’ll go about it I don’t know but it is time to move on from Jameis….too much talent on the other 52….the game is supposed to be fun…not a soap opera

  70. Mike Johnson Says:

Meantime…Over in TITAN country, There’s a sqeaky clean american Hawaiian Kid named Mariota…quietly reading his playbook on a Saturday evening..preparing to take his team to yet..another playoff run. What a contrast aye?

  71. Tampabaybucfan Says:

Trust me on this……in my 40+ years in media….I have never seen a situation where news like this on a national basis isn’t answered by someone with at least a “lets let the facts come out”……the only ones doing that are JBF posters……
There is no way that the Bucs as an organization or Jameis as an individual would let it get this far without any comment whatsoever.
No, they shouldn’t be specific or answer questions…..but some sort of statement should have been made by OBP if there isn’t mostly truth to what is being presented.
The reason for the silence is that unfortunately…..it’s accurate.

If I’m wrong on this, I’m ready to be called out by everyone.

  72. AlteredEgo Says:

    Keen insight …. Tampabaybucfan

  73. Chris K Says:

It’s no longer about Joe and Jameis’ fans from his FSU days insisting that he would not be a PR problem here. That conversation is over! He has proven to be a PR problem end of that conversation period! It’s about what do we do going forward from here. I do believe if he admits to a mistake and issues a sincere apology the Bucs may be able to salvage something from a bad situation. If he does that and Jameis and the Bucs win during the 13 games he does play this season, then maybe the Bucs can sign Jameis to a team friendly deal that allows them to pay some of the core younger talent as well. If we lose during those 13 games then I doubt highly that he will be on the team next season. So it is in effect a career defining season for Jameis. Win and he may be allowed to continue his career, lose and his career in Tampa will be over. Plain and simple.

  74. SB Says:

    You aren’t wrong TBBF.

  75. donuts Says:

As fans, we should wait and take a deep breathe and show patience during this most polarizing moment in Buccaneer history. The language in the NFL media announcement will be telling and provide a better gauge as to what happened from their unilateral perspective.

I do get the emotions though as these types of events can set a franchise back 5 years and the end result (losing) alienates the fans. Lets not blame each other as fans though as we had nothing to do with the cause (Winston acting inappropriate) rather we are only the recipient of the bad result. I see a lot of you going back and forth and its unproductive IMHO.

  76. Gencoimports Says:

I wish the NFL would release the report already. I’m withholding judgement until it does.

  77. Buccano19 Says:

    Oh this poor team

  78. Lamarcus Says:

They have to wait to make statement until NFl comes out the conclusion. They still can’t say anything until then.

  79. Aubpierce Says:

If he can’t control himself, buy him a case of Vaseline. What a fool, he had the world on a string.

  80. Anonymous Says:

The NFL is trying to get Jameis out of this small market and in a bigger market. He will be a great QB and they know that and they don’t want that for a small market team. You Marotta fans please go to Titans site.

  81. Ptwalk Says:

The NFL wants Jameis in a larger market. They have to get him out of this small market. It’s working. Our fan base is goin to run him out of here and he will be another one that got away.

  82. Tampabaybucfan Says:

The language from the NFL is not near as important as the language from Winston…..any attempt by him to weasel out of this will be met with extreme negativity.

Now, if he is innocent, he shouldn’t be taking this laying down…..not one bit. And he should fight it totally because it is doing him immense harm.

But if he committed the act….the only way for him is to admit to it….apologize sincerely and in particular admit to lying about it and apologize for that also…..then shut up an play the best he can…..this is all he can do.

I would note that since the criminal and civil statutes have run in Arizona, Jameis faces no legal jeopardy by admitting the act. So….no lawyerly answers are necessary.

  83. Aubpierce Says:

Someone buy him a case of Vaseline. He had the World on a string, what a fool.

  84. Jbravo Says:

Anyone who talks of keeping or trading him are u serious.? No one wants him..too much drama..an immature, turnover prone trainwreck..character matters.the jw lovefest will soon be history..

  85. JJ Says:

Bucs need to get Doug Williams to exorcise the curse he put on the team.

  86. Aubpierce Says:

Someone please buy him a case of Vaseline. He had the World on a string, what a fool.

  87. Kobe Faker Says:

I know im jumping the gun here without the official report but…

I was interested in JW3 trade value presently

If licht calls all 32 gms he is available for the highest draft pick…what would it be?

I think a middle 2nd round pick. Too high?

What do you think? And where? 700k salary is peanuts

    Kobe Faker

  88. Tampabaybucfan Says:

Jameis can survive this if he is brutally honest…..his teammates will immediately forgive him…..his organization should support him….the fans….well, the fans will come around later….some of them never….but most will forgive him. That is the kind of people we are…..in particular sports fans.

  89. Dewey Selmon Says:

Kobe, are you high? there are 31 other fan bases that would run their GM out of town if they traded for Winston right now.

  90. JJ Says:

If the Bucs release Jameis, you watch the Saints pick him up to replace Drew Brees when he retires. Sigh

  91. ShutTheBucUp Says:

Come on Kobe, a mid 2nd rounder? Lol

  92. Tampabaybucfan Says:

Jpe says the Broncos & Dolphins would fight over him……I strongly doubt it. Let’s hope Jameis survives this and we don’t find out.

In this “me too” atmosphere…the only team he can play for is the Bucs….and that’s not even certain.

  93. firethecannons Says:

Blue Foot Boob–really–you are “worried” about “Kate”–how ridiculous! He put his hand in her private area on top of jeans, she said stop-he did, she stayed in the car by choice — remember she was in the drive through. At any point she could of gotten out and called police. But no she was not afraid-she handled it and she moved on–we do not even know if this happened! I believe it did not even happen–failed attempt at a hookup that was done by a 21 year old who was intoxicated. Glad he chose not to drink and drive which would be much worse.
People that are worried bout Kate need to check their motives–Kate is not a child, she is a grown woman who complete cotrol over a sticky situation. Moving On!

  94. NPRBobby Says:

I believe in second chances, not thirds, fourths or fifths. Winston came here on his second chance

  95. firethecannons Says:

You folks that wanted Jameis gone to start with–clearly this situation is your ticket for that to happen. Personally I would like to see how he plays next season as for me that is all that matters. I believe if he can’t play well(fumbles and t/o’s not improving) then Bucs should consider other options.

  96. Tampabaybucfan Says:

    firethecannons

“I believe it did not even happen–failed attempt at a hookup that was done by a 21 year old who was intoxicated.”

I agree that we shouldn’t be concerned about Kate….she didn’t report the incident to the police and there has been no civil suit for mental damage etc….

But, if you are correct and Jameis didn’t commit the act, then you should be expecting like all of us that Jameis would fight this every step of the way…..he doesn’t appear to be doing that.

  97. Jjones Says:

If the NFL knew about Banks that’s one thing, if they didn’t hes FOCKED!

  98. 2002WasALongTimeAgo Says:

Can we get clarification of what Walter Football said today? He knows the bad behavior was still occurring this Spring?

  99. BigMacAttack Says:

Jameis isn’t going anywhere. He’s our QB. He will grow out of this and become the Awesome QB they hoped he would be. Fitz will run the offense well and Jameis will come back with a vengeance. It would be a huge mistake to cut him loose. Extend him now for less money. Show him you believe in him but let him know this mistake cost him. He can be the Leader for a few more contracts. Earn it son. Be smart, win and win, get to the playoffs and earn those bonuses. Haven’t we cut enough good players loose for stupid reasons? Time to close that Chapter and move forward. Jameis stays and that’s all I have to say about that.

  100. __TGH__ Says:

The light from that train is starting to look awfully bright!

I keep picturing the scene from Stand By Me. Licht is Vern holding onto the tracks and Koetter is Gordie pulling him up to run. All of us are Teddy and Chris standing on the other side debating whether they are going to make it or not. Don’t think this one is going to end like the book.

    Oh, the drama!

  101. AlteredEgo Says:

The crotch grab is not really the big issue with the
NFL….he said /she said no police report only the Uber banning Jameis’s account…yeah it was wrong on every level if true…..but Jameis has been wiggling in quicksand with his lying…..which speaks to trust and credibility….kind of important qualities when Buc ownership considers before writing 100 milllion dollars checks…..they only paid 145 million for the franchise ….

  102. Dewey Selmon Says:

Some of you that want to give Jameis a pass simply because it was a failed hookup attempt are forgetting that he has been in a commited relationship for years with a woman who reports have her being in Az at the time of the groping.

  103. JimmyJack Says:

Here’s the deal. This is not about the Uber incident only. Had this current suspension and offense happened to somebody else it would be something the team and fans could get past. But it happened to Winston who has a history of sexual accusations. Right or wrong some folks are making the conclusion(assumption?) that Jamies is a sexual criminal.

No matter what your opinion about Winston is you must realize that many people believe that he is a serial criminal who cannot control himself. Yes, they believe the R word. This isn’t about groping.

  104. JimmyJack Says:

I would let Winston play his way out of this. At the end of the day groping is not unforgivable. But it is a disturbing thing to think about and some within the team may not be able to look at Winston the same way.

All that matters is how the Buccaneers react. If this is going to cause major problems in the locker room and on the field then they better be ready to make drastic changes, which likely means realising Winston. It’s not going to work if the team is not behind him. If they try to make it work without full support this season will be a disaster.

I will really be curious to see how the team responds. Whenever they decide to get around to it.

  105. Buc believer Says:

I can’t believe how fast this market has turned on Jameis. You people are fools and it is fans like you who deserve the perennial loser we have been. I think most of you secretly like losing! It is your sense of identity.

  106. SB Says:

All anyone needs to ask themselves is ………..Did Jameis help in an attempted cover up?
He had the opportunity when Uber informed him his account was being suspended because the driver accused him of in·ap·pro·pri·ate sexual behavior.
A smart person gets ahead of the situation.

  107. SB Says:

A guilty person hides and hopes it goes away.

  108. JimmyJack Says:

But Believer…….I been thinking the same thing all week. I really hope our team isn’t this mentally weak but I fear they are(based on their game performances).

This town loves to run off “bad guys”. It can be very discouraging to see it go against our favor every single year……….And then at the end of the day the “bad guys” usually grow up and mature and are players we would be proud to cheer for. The list is endless.

  109. Defense Rules Says:

TBBF, some excellent insight. My gut tells me that Jameis was REALLY intoxicated. If Darby & Banks had to call an Uber for Jameis & then pour him into the front seat, there’s a darned good chance that Jameis was hammered, and has nothing more than a foggy memory of that trip back to where he was staying. Doesn’t excuse his actions (whatever they were), but that may well be the reason that he decided not to fight it. Also, a condition of the negotiated 3-game suspension may be that he keep his mouth shut going forward.

Fact is however that Jameis put himself into this situation & he’ll have to live with the consequences going forward.

  110. JimmyJack Says:

SB……With the info that has been leaked out already it’s basically public knowledge that he was guilty of what “Kate” has accused him of.

  111. UofODucksFan Says:

I am an Oregon Ducks season ticket holder and former Bucs fan. The day the Bucs drafted Winston over Mariota was the day I became a Titans fan. It was hard to switch, but now I feel vindicated. This is the exact reason I bailed. Winston was not more “NFL ready” than Mariota on the field. Mariota torched the Bucs his rookie year. He certainly wasn’t ready for the NFL off the field and he still isn’t. How many playof games has Winston won? Zero. Mariota has one two, which is just one less than Winston has been suspended. Can’t be “America’s Quarterback” if you are sitting on the sidelines for being an idiot!

    Loving that playoff life!

    Enjoy the #MeToo suck

    Titan Up!

  112. JimmyJack Says:

Hey scrolling up and listening to Darlington’s report I am relieved. He said the Bucs like who Winston is as a QB and as a person. They want him to be a Buccaneer.

That’s the kind of support Winston needs to succeed here. From the organization and from us fans.

  113. BigMacAttack Says:

At least he didn’t throw up in her car. Now that would have been bad.

  114. put up or shut up Says:

everyones emotions are high about this incident, some want jameis strung up others got his back, imagine what the team is going thru, the players with wives, friends of jameis, the coaches i know there have been tweets made by kwon and some others saying they got his back, but this is a thing that can tear a club to pieces, you do realize that behind closed doors some of the players and their ol’e lady’s would be uncomfortable around him in a social setting, i’m not saying professional setting during game day but you know when you invite a few of your coworkers over for a bbq and some suds, i would imagine some players wives or girlfriend saying hell no not him. not saying this is happening, not yet anyways

  115. Dewey Selmon Says:

UofOregan, if you switched to the Titans because of that you were never a Bucs fan to begin with, it’s not about the player, it’s about the logo. Players come and go, the franchise is always there. kick bricks.

  116. Capt.Tim Says:

Walterfootball is reporting that Jameis has been up to other” Shady Activities” this spring.

The Glazers wont put up with this. Ifbits true, Jameis days are indeed numbered

  117. mark2001 Says:

Jimmyjack…every real Buc fan would like to seem him get this kind of behavior behind him and succeed. But that doesn’t mean it will happen. That is mostly up to Jameis. And you would think he would know by now that he can’t trust himself to drink like that and stay out of trouble…or to hang with guys convicted for criminal sexual behavior, or to ride alone with a strange woman in a car. Or to lie about a big mistake to the organization and the league. Heck, I’ve been hoping most of those for years. But my hoping means nothing, or does yours, one way or another.

  118. Bucnjim Says:

Not sure if anyone covered this but couldn’t he have taken responsibility last year when the season was already in the crapper? Not only would the suspension be over but he would have gained a little respect instead of lying and hiding. Of course this comes with maturity. I am for keeping Winston for now because he could still be great, but there is a disappointment that is hard to overlook.

  119. Bucnjim Says:

Is there more issues involving Winston that we don’t know about?

  120. Fire Goodell Says:

The Ravens stood by Ray Lewis even after he was charged with murder. He pled guilty to lying to police and got the murder charges dropped. The NFL fined him $250,000 but less than a year later he won Super Bowl MVP and is in the Hall of Fame.

  121. mark2001 Says:

Captain Tim…you mean this? ” Call me crazy, but I don’t think this is a big deal for this season. Maybe I feel that way because I know that Winston has been doing shady things off the field during this spring, which is why I recently predicted that Tampa would have the worst record in the NFL in 2018.”

  122. Chris Says:

If they find out hes guilty cut him and get teddy bridgewater from the jets

  123. mark2001 Says:

Captain Tim…you mean this? “Call me crazy, but I don’t think this is a big deal for this season. Maybe I feel that way because I know that Winston has been doing shady things off the field during this spring, which is why I recently predicted that Tampa would have the worst record in the NFL in 2018.”

  124. UofODucksFan Says:

Dewey Selmon. Criticize my fandom, I don’t care. You have no idea what I went through to as a Bucs fan living in Oregon. You don’t know the miles I traveled. How many different stadiums I’ve been to to watch them play.

Marcus Mariota is to Oregon as Tim Tebow is to Florida. It was clear to me when they drafted Winston over Mariota as to who which team I would support going forward.

    #MeToo

    Titan Up!

  125. mark2001 Says:

Bucnjim…Walter Cherepinsky…Walter Football.. made that statement on his disaster rating, with a link on Twitter. When someone asked what that might be, he said nothing.

  126. ATrain Says:

Winston had a few problems in college
    I did not want him
But I accepted and gave him a chance

Even when this story I said wait and see this is B S

But the fact that Darby LIED about being there and he was involved in one of the college issues

Also two major criminal acts against woman

If Winston did this I say Trade him

  127. Bucnjim Says:

Does anyone know what shady things Winston is supposed to be doing? Sucks because every previous rumor about players bad behavior has turned out to be TRUE!

  128. Bucnjim Says:

    Mark2001,

    THANKS!

  129. Cobraboy Says:

Maybe Winston’s trade value, all considered, is roughly a 2nd round kicker…;)

  130. gambelero Says:

I think the Bucs should get ahead of this by adding on to Jameis’s suspension right now. He should be suspended for the second half of the first three preseason games and the entire fourth preseason game.

That would show the world that we don’t put up with this kind of behavior. But it’ll also be important to show forgiveness after he suffers through all this punishment. If he plays really, really well for the first five or six games after the suspension, a “He’s learned from his mistakes and done his time. And that’s the last thing the Buccaneer Organization is going to say about it.” If he plays very poorly for an extended period, we should get rid of him and talk about how important “character” is to the Buc’s organization.

  131. firethecannons Says:

    Tampabaybuc:
Jameis has not gotten the official word from the NFL as of yet–no doubt at this time he is being controlled by the Bucs management. He will only speak when instructed by the management to speak and then he will only say what they authorize–at least for now.

Going forward they must get Jameis lined up with a “keeper” so as to provide witness if needed ever on anything, and to provide security, don’t want Jameis doing any “defense”

Honestly I am not sure if Jameis did this act but it doesn’t matter–damage is done regardless. I do not think any less of him–man the stupid stuff I did when in an intoxicated blackout in my early 20’s–way worse than a failed attempt at a hookup.
Prevention going forward is number one priority, get the dude security/keeper 24/7–when Jameis leaves the home he goes with.

  132. SB Says:

Well with all this “The Sky Is Falling in Tampa” going on. I am about to go watch the new Jurassic World with my family! Peace out guys

  133. Dewey Selmon Says:

You know what would really send a message? the Bucs suspend Winston for game 4. That would get everyone’s attention

  134. I’m a Tandyman Bucs Fan Says:

Not only did he grab a crotch. He knowing did it and then lied about it to you, his teammates, me, his Coach, his owners…. Everybody. That bothers me as much or worse than his crotch grabbing. Let him go, there’s as good or better quarterbacks with HIGH CHARACTER that don’t grab crotches and lie!!!

  135. Fl Rancher Says:

Next time you draft a quarterback get one that does not drink alcohol. When you are of college age no good can come from drinking. I would guess that 90% of sexual transgressions occur when drinking is involved.

  136. Tampabaybucfan Says:

I actually suggested at the very beginning that Jameis have someone with him (bodyguard) or someone like that….at all times to avoid this sort of thing from happening.
Jameis can survive this if he is honest.

Keep in mind that big stars are going down by the day….news persons losing their jobs…..politicians resigning…..one resigned over a photo of grabbing a breast…..this is a different time we live in…..misbehavior of this type will not be tolerated anymore…..this isn’t a matter of law or evidence….it is primarily in the PR and image arena…..both for the person, the team and the NFL…..

Jameis was at the very least foolish to allow himself to be put in this situation and you can’t let the fact that he was intoxicated exonerate him…..that simply doesn’t fly…..being young and horny doesn’t cut it either….not when you make millions and have 10s of millions on the line….and your job is so public.

You simply must behave…..he will pay a huge price….but he can survive it.

  137. Patrickbucs Says:

    Ptwalk Says:
    June 23rd, 2018 at 5:38 pm
The NFL wants Jameis in a larger market. They have to get him out of this small market. It’s working. Our fan base is goin to run him out of here and he will be another one that got away.

Like New Orleans, Charlotte, Nashville, Cleveland, Jacksonville, Kansas City maybe? Foolish statement

  138. DBS Says:

You do realize if all this did happen Then he basically told Derrick Brooks to hell with his advice.

  139. Knoxville Buc Fan Says:

@Tampabaybucfan Your exactly right, going forward he needs someone with him at all times. The kid definitely needs a lot of growing up and he can turn the public opinion of him around with some positive influence and accountability. It’s clear he has the talent, and has the money for a bodyguard or whatever. I know many fans want him gone from Tampa but something tells me when this is all said and done JW can Tampa into a winner again!

  140. Dewey Selmon Says:

C’omn Knox. a 4th year pro who is a father and married needs a babysitter?

  141. Buc Neckid Says:

This all “allegedly” happened in March 2016
So everything that he said last year,
    Who he appeared to be,
    Everything on “Hard Knocks”,
    All of the 2017 Season,
    all that rah-rah “Leadership”
    was a LIE!!!

  142. RealBucFan Says:

There is NO messy situation. Its He said She said. Jameis is our QB, and will be for a long time. Glazer family, my father and I respect your family so much, we know you will make right decision. But if you buy into the media and all the he said she said stuff and get rid of the greatest thing to ever show up at this franchise, I promise My father a 35 year club season pass holder, and I who split it with him will cancel our tickets. These comments are not due process.

  143. firethecannons Says:

Time will make this less of a big deal and soon there will be games with no Jameis. Fitz will throw some really stupid int’s and around that same time there will be pics of Jameis and his new family. It is true. We will get used to this.
He must get a keeper to provide witness and security 100% of his time until he is no longer a Buc whether he wants it or not. He runs to the store for a pack of huggies along goes the buddy.Every trip everywhere–they drive, they do not sleep, they are professionals. Sht hits the fan while Jameis is out–they provide security and prevent situations from even happening. Simple effective solution for the untrustworthy athlete tasked with being the face of the franchise.

  144. mark2001 Says:

Dewey…Keeper? It does sound odd, doesn’t it. But what about this entire situation ISN’T odd. A guy with a one in a million job, money beyond his wildest dreams around the corner. Blessed with the talent to do things most men never could. And yet he keeps doing stupid things on and off the field. I can’t say he needs a “keeper”…more likely some serious counseling and a full time driver. And the self-realization that he is a hairs breath away from throwing it all away.

  145. firethecannons Says:

It is my idea that Jameis have a “keeper”
he cannot be trusted, he needs security, he is an adult who has and has lost already millions of dollars, his career is on the line, he can easily be accused of things that do not happen, he needs a keeper to provide witness and security 24/7 until he is no longer a Buc.

  146. Dewey Selmon Says:

He has a keeper at home, Breion Allen and not he will be a father. He has enough money, where he goes, they go. She can watch them both at them same time. sad but i’m serious.

  147. firethecannons Says:

Soon Fitz will be playing and throwing int’s and pics of Jameis will be out with his new family. This distressing time will pass and going forward the only solution is what I have outlined about 24/7 keeper. So watch pics of him well into future and there will be his buddy providing witness and security.

  148. firethecannons Says:

    Yeah Dewey
so just exactly how did Breion prevent the Scottsdale uber incident There clearly was a breach in her security/witness protection. Leave the house for a pack of Huggies and along goes the buddy, drives and provides company — any trouble with JW not being on board than word goes back to Bucs management and well they may not be inclined to keep him on the payroll.

  149. WillieG Says:

Joe, the comment I posted was not “out of hand”. I simply made the case that the Bucs should get rid of Winston. No profanity, no name calling, nothing.

  150. GhostofSchiano Says:

I feel quite foolish defending Winston, very disappointed. He has a mountain to climb to earn the trust and love of this fan. The best thing he could do is tell the truth and accept responsibility for his actions. That would be a good start.

  151. Tampabaybucfan Says:

It’s not simply that Jameis can’t be trusted alone with a female….it’s that you can’t trust the female either…..after his college incident and this….he is a walking ATM machine….Jameis absolutely, positively can never ever be alone with another female…..period.
It is Jameis that should insist that someone be present…..he should have a personal driver wherever he goes….

Sound crazy?…..well, ask me if we would be here discussing Uber if that were the case?

  152. Tampabaybucfan Says:

    @GhostofSchiano

Exactly!!!……we will know if Jameis comes clean…..we will know if he can survive this…..
I hope he has a very good PR representative that can explain to him that blunt honesty is the only ticket our of trouble…..he must be vulnerable……he cannot try to exonerate himself if it isn’t genuine. The court of public opinion will simply dispose of him.
In order for his teammates, owners, GM, Coaches and fans to back him….he has to give them the truth….then fly straight.

  153. Chris Says:

    https://www.facebook.com/ESPN/videos/2113617355575481/

Couldn’t have said it any better myself.

  154. Tampabaybucfan Says:

We are all likely either saddened, disturbed, sickened, frustrated, depressed or pissed about this situation……
Most of us love our Buc football and have suffered many, many times over the years with disappointment. Tomorrow when we wake up this will still be here.
    But…there is good news….like anything else….it will pass…..

I am hopeful that Jameis survives this and it motivates him to succeed….if he doesn’t….next man up!!!

  155. Sam Says:

    Jamise is garbage!

  156. NOMOREFOOTBALL Says:

BUC’S SHOULD HAVE DRAFTED A Q/B ,,THEY KNEW THIS WAS COMING, AND WE COULD HAVE GOT A GOOD ONE TOO BUT THEY CHOOSE NOT TO ……….

  157. firethecannons Says:

It no longer has anything to do with Jameis and whether he can keep away from doing the wrong things with women, he is a magnet for all the money seekers. He can no longer be in the company of any woman(except his wife) alone from here on in. THEY cannot be trusted. Tampabaybucfan said it here–he is a walking atm machine.

  158. Jeffbuc Says:

All you men that say he should be in prison and our outraged by this are all hypocrites. You all have done this same thing to get laid in high school or college. That’s the move you make to see if she wants to have sex. If she rejects you you know your not getting any if she accepts your advances you know your in there. Every single guy has tried to get to third base without her saying please go to third. You have all made this move. But now it is sexual assault when it is a guy you already disliked. I even asked my wife what her thoughts were on this and she said it is stupid that people are so offended. She sees for what it is also a drunk dude making a pass on a girl. If he had tried to go bare skin contact then that’s another story but even the accuser says He laid his hand on the outside of her clothing. And stopped when she said what are you doing. So please someone tell me what is so offensive about this. Other than a drunk young dude attempting third base and getting denied and stopping immediately. No more advances. No more trying to keep going to keep persuading her. So very married man here is guilty of sexual assault then for trying to have sexwith his wife when she wasn’t in the mood. When you try to do the little things you know gets her going but she still is t haven’t it.

  159. Patrickbucs Says:

Yeah @jeffbuc sounds like you are a real Casanova ugh

  160. __TGH__ Says:

@Jeffbuc – on behalf of the Republican Party and the rest of civilized society… please don’t have any children. Nothing good will come of it.

  161. firethecannons Says:

Ok knock off your fake outrage Patrickbuc. As a woman I can tell you that Jeffbuc is in line with reality. The fact is an intoxicated 21 year old who probably thinks he is Gods gift to women supposedly made a bungled attempt at a hookup. She said stop, he did, she was pissed off and reported it to Uber. The story was jumbled as it appears to of been a drunken excursion. Otherwise way way too much has been made of this.

  162. eightonetree Says:

joe i think its time we call philly and see what they want for foles. licht has the eagles connection and him and dirk are fighting for their jobs like a blockbuster clerk back in 2007. a trade for foles can save our season. hes superbowl mvp swagger and a vet presence would work wonders in our offense. were built to win now.

  163. Mightyjoey1 Says:

So…let me see if I understand this correctly…
Two men grab a woman by the crotch…one becomes President, the other is run out of town.

There has to be a punchline there somewhere.

  164. AlteredEgo Says:

JeffBuc….”that move”…which has been example on several threads…is usually done in a appropriate setting, bar, party etc at a strategic moment after a bit of flirting and each sizing the other up…..not crotch grabbing a stranger who is working that has only encountered you for mintues

  165. stpetebucsfan Says:

Dang Jeff I certainly felt some girlfriends but I NEVER just grabbed any pssy!

You must have been a real smoothie. Generally I would start with a kiss not a hand on her privates…if it keeps heating up and you move slowly you can tell whether she wants to or not. If she doesn’t…there is just one move…STOP!!!

Now to do this to a total stranger to see is she is in the mood? What exactly are you trying to say.

  166. Doctor Stroud Says:

The only two teams that have not made the playoffs this decade are the Bucs and the Browns. The Bucs have been in a “messy” situation for a long time.

  167. Buccaneer Bonzai Says:

I already know what the report will say. Jameis is not getting suspended for groping.

He is getting suspended for not reporting the incident. The length of suspension pretty much suggests that.

So all of you haters are misjudging this whole thing.

  168. SOEbuc Says:

You make a kid in his early 20’s a superstar and give him a bunch of money, he’s likely to do stupid sh!t at some point. All the NFL’s fault. Toss Goddell and his dumbass rules to the curb.
