Jameis Says He Has “One Of The Toughest Meanest Baddest Centers”

May 22nd, 2018

Jameis Winston volunteered to media today that he’s been watching college film of explosive rookie running back Ronald Jones.

Joe asked Jameis whether he was watching someone else.

The subject was the huge-money center general manager Jason Licht signed in free agency, Ryan Jensen from the Baltimore Ravens.

Oh, yes, Jameis has been watching Jensen’s well-known exploits and he loves what’s coming to Tampa Bay.

“I’m excited to have one of the toughest, meanest, baddest centers out there, man,” Jameis replied. “He’s definitely a joy of a teammate, like I said, we receive him. … Ryan has definitely made us better with his presence and his mentality.”

Jameis went on to call Jensen “our main horse leading the pack.” He also implied that Jensen’s presence will bring the leadership juice like they had in 2015. “We had guys like Logan Mankins who was a hoss, and Gosder Cherilus who was a vet guy.”

Jameis added that he believes there’s “no choice” but to have Jensen rub off on the other lineman.

I sure hope so. Dotson is a veteran but obviously he’s not a leader. That void has been missing since Mankins left, so it would be great if Jensen brings that. Hopefully in time Ali or D Smith will grow into that role too, but some guys are natural leaders while others simply are not (see GMC).

I said during the offseason that teams need their leaders to be guys in the trenches, on both sides of the ball. Go Bucs!

Can’t wait to see him go against McCoy in training camp! Hint: Gerald keep your helmet on!

  3. Tampa Bay Demon Says:

good thoughts, #unbelievable — I believe Ali Marpet is definitely going to develop more and more into that type of leader also. He has a naturally somewhat unassuming personality, but you can see more of his leadership shining through all of the time

  4. Mike Johnson Says:

Ga Buc fan..Don’t let GMC’s nice demeanor fool you. I’ve seem him in action at our trng camps. Yes he smiles a lot. But he brings it and hits as hard as any NFL player I have ever seen and can get down in the dirt with the best of’em.

  5. Tampabaybucfan Says:

It would be easy to assume that one guy could not change the demeanor of an entire team….but when you stack the team with toughness…..it is much more likely.
Jensen, Cappa, JPP, Curry, Allen, Vea, Davis, Stewart……they have certainly added some toughness.

  6. JB Says:

Ali was elected captain twice at Hobart. He leads by example. He’ll do the same in TB. Looking forward to a big season for him.

we’ll find out soon enough if he’s the toughest, meanest, baddest centers out there

    #NOEXCUSESIN2018!!!…#PRESSURESONTHECOACHES!!!!….GO BUCS!!!!

    Batman vs Joker in practice…

  9. John B Says:

fingers crossed Dot can come back for one more healthy year -plug Cappa at RG and let’s stuff the ball down people’s throats at will. Barber is a battering ram that falls forward and has one cut quickness, RoJo can take it to the house from anywhere on the field..would like nothing better than to average 40-45 run plays a game and 25-30 passes…that equals ball control, a rested D, and likely 10+ wins

  10. proofs in the pudding Says:

mike of the johnson clan, yeah i’ve seen him too, for 8-9 years now, and guess what, i’m not impressed sorry, every team i reckon has to have someone they call their stud playmaker, my point, if your team is full of players that suck, then it should be easy to distant yourself from them, he has never had double digit sacks in one year, he does not elevate or make his team mates better, and was injured for two seasons in a row. what has this team won with him?

  11. Steve in Mad Beach Says:

Naturally Mike Johnson isn’t a fan of white players, so there’s that…

  12. Realbucfan941 Says:

    Hey proofs,

So can you tell me what player has made people around him better? Mike Evans?.. Nope, Djax?… Nope. Kwon? Nope!… David?…. Nope. Grimes? Nope. So what’s your point? We should get rid of those guys too? You single 1 guy out because you parrot what other people on by this board like to spew. Idea for you, get your own thoughts… Preferably ones that make you sounds like you actually watch football!

PS. Bucs have been losers with a 53 man roster! This isn’t basketball loser where 1 Superstar can change a team single handedly. Just like hockey Stamkos and Uncle Kuch are studs but are invisible in too many games because teams make it a point to neutralize them. Guess lightning should ditch them.

Marpet is too quiet for that role. Or maybe he’s the one that will make people accountable or they get boinked on the grape with a ukulele. Naw, love Marpet and it’s so kool watching him grow but he’s not an in your face kinda guy.
