Tom Coughlin To Cut Austin Seferian-Jenkins A Fat Check

March 15th, 2018

Bucs castoff cashes in

UPDATED: 6:01 p.m. – As Joe has said and written many times, nobody writes a soap opera like your Buccaneers.

For this one, first consider that head coach Dirk Koetter last year said O.J. Howard was a fresh version of Marcedes Lewis, the 12-year Jacksonville tight end who is still in the league.

That was a nice comparison, but it was a bit of an eyebrow-raiser considering a couple of years earlier, Koetter compared the skills of then-Bucs tight end Austin Seferian-Jenkins to soon-to-be Hall of Fame tight end Tony Gonzalez.

Anyway, we all know the story of how the Bucs cut Seferian-Jackwagon for poor behavior. Last year, he was productive and healthy for the Jets. And he even turned down a lucrative new contract offer from them, per many reports out of New York.

Now. per Dianna Russini of ESPN, ASJ will sign with Jacksonville, where he might replace Lewis on the team that was a couple of first downs from heading to the Super Bowl last year. It’s quite a head-shaker — and a testament to ASJ — that taskmaster Tom Coughlin wants to cut him a fat check.

Isn’t free agency fun?

UPDATE: NFL Network says it’s a two-year, $10 million deal with another $1 million in incentives.

  1. AKick'nTheBucNuts Says:

Forget about ASJ. He made his bed here.

But why can’t we get a real football guy like Tom Coughlin running the Bucs?

Oh yeah, you have to pay for him.

  2. Rod Munch Says:

ASJ is a top talent at TE, but he’s also a drunk. I understand why the Bucs had to let him go, but he has all the tools to be a top guy at the position if he can keep his drinking issues under control. It wouldn’t shock me if he’s a pro-bowler next year, and it also wouldn’t shock me if he’s suspended indefinitely – and I’m sure Coughlin knows that which is why the team will protect itself with his signing. But is he worth the risk? Absolutely…. just have a back-up plan.

  3. SB Says:

I am a Solid Poker player and there is No Way that I would want to be a GM at this time of year! 🙂

  4. JonBuc Says:

What a waste of a 2nd round pick. And to think he was about to get off for boozin’ while cruzin’ only to insist multiple times he needed to drop a deuce.I thought when he caught a td vs the Falcons falling backwards that he finally was on his way. When your high picks at lower salaries bust…it kills your team.

  5. Dewey Selmon Says:

Caughlin will keep him sober, he is in a small market also. Jags might have hit a goldmine.

  6. SCBucsFan Says:

Dewey people are doing drugs and getting drunk in the hills of Kentucky. ASJ is trash no matter how small a market he moves to.

  7. Tampabaybucfan Says:

    @SB

  8. Mike Johnson Says:

Why is it..many good players who cannot make it here..go on to other teams and…SHINE? Again laugh all you like Buc fans, Watch this guy perform like hell in J-ville under this regime. Just like Martins gonna do for chucky and a..Plethera of players we deemed..Losers and bad players, go on to win Superbowls and great careers. What is it about Tampa Bay? Yet we are Outstanding at signing backups
who never quite get there. And we are close..right? BucLife baby!

  9. Tampabaybucfan Says:

    @SN

A big game of no limit hold’em

  10. Bird Says:

I want to know where Jacksonville has all this cap room. They have signed everybody and their brother in last few years.

  11. Pierce Says:

I think he’ll start loafing as soon as he gets paid.

  12. Mike Johnson Says:

Tom Coughlin sees something in him. And thus far, since he’s been in J-Ville, he’s been..spot on. So if he’s made the selection and I’m the owner? That would be good enough for me.

  13. DB55 Says:

You people are trash! Yet another example how “thugs” leave the meth capital of the world and become successful elsewhere like anywhere else. Lol

How many players have to be run out of town bc they don’t meet the standards of buccaneers fans just to win championships elsewhere? But you’re not rac it’s. Sure my friends keep telling yourselves that as you take over Cleveland’s spot as the worst franchise on the planet.

Someday soon you’ll have all-American men playing all 22 positions on the field. It’s not like the Bucs plan on winning anything anytime soon.

  14. Buccaneer Bonzai Says:

Tom Coughlin won’t keep him from drinking or getting in trouble. Only ASJ can do that.

  15. mike10 Says:

I’ve lost count of the amount of talent that’s walked out of our doors. And a lot of it has been under Lichts watch.

I hate to say it but we may be primed for another culture change through an overhaul of front office personnel

  16. Frank Pillow Says:

The ASJ situation had a massive ripple effect on this franchise- because we couldn’t manage to get through to the guy and figure out a way to help him help himself, we ditched a #2 pick (lots of good players on the board back then) and then felt compelled to use a #1 pick on a TE one year later when there were giant holes all over the roster. I get that Howard has the potential to be something very special- but it there’s no way he’s the pick if we didn’t flub the ASJ situation and have the kid party his way out of town.

  17. tmaxcon Says:

FEAR LOSING NOT THE SALARY CAP

  18. BuccaneEric75 Says:

Selmon, the Jags didn’t hit a gold mine, they hit a land mine!

  19. webster Says:

So someone gets a dui and they are trash? If you say so.

  20. The Graham Tram Says:

Relax DB55. I don’t think anyone thought ASJ was a thug. They thought he was a big drunk idiot. Which according to police video of him, he was.

  21. Buccaneer Bonzai Says:

    DB55,

I moved out of town for that very reason.

Just reading how people act here explains a lot about Tampa. The twelfth man is a horrible thing in Tampa.

That’s why the Stick Carriers died out.

  22. webster Says:

    @ mike 10

Please let us know of all the talent that have left the bucs under licht only to shine else where.

  23. webster Says:

    Why am i in moderation?

  24. SB Says:

I see your fingers aren’t working as well as usual today TBBF. 🙂 But I DO see where you are going. I hit almost $800 last Sat on a no limit Hold’em table. Going back this Saturday night. Hopefully I hit enough to pay for the entire Spring Break vacay!

  25. SB Says:

Hey DB….not sure what happened to you in the last 5 years but you have changed. People who constantly bring up racism are the most racist of them all 90% of the time. Just like big tough guys who hate Fags, usually they are homophobic. I hope I am wrong about you but you definitely have changed.

  26. DB55 Says:

    Webster

DE means and Lb Goode won a Sb ring with eagles.
The punt returner went to the SB with the Patriots.
Guard Omegah went to the playoffs with the jags.
Mark Barron is a total beast in LA
Swearinger had 4 Ints for the redskins last year

And that’s just off the top of my head. Show us a list and I bet there’s a 90% success rate amongst buc cast-offs.

That’s bc you guys are idiots and run everyone out of town cuz they suck when it facts it just Tampa that sucks.

  27. SB Says:

Hey Webster……….I am there also. Nice to see you. We should stop meeting like this.

  28. SB Says:

“Someday soon you’ll have all-American men playing all 22 positions on the field. It’s not like the Bucs plan on winning anything anytime soon.’

What exactly does this mean bro?

  29. D-Rome Says:

Great draft pick by Lovie Smith. Too bad Licht cut him.

  30. Rod Munch Says:

Nothing personal but people who say ‘vacay’ should be used as human subjects for chemical weapons testing.

Just say vacation next time, it’s only one additional syllable and you keep your self respect.

    Glad I could help.

  31. tmaxcon Says:

bucs don’t need talent just choirboy losers to keep the basement streak alive and us 30 million a year under the cap… wins are irrelevant.

  32. Eric Says:

    Tampa is a weird town.

    They hate Chucky.

Love running everybody any good out of town.

    Worship losers……

  33. SB Says:

Thank you So much Rod. Trying to keep up with the younger generations vernacular sometimes drives me crazy.

  34. Dave Pear Says:

    SB,

DB55 is saying that soon we will only have “White” players on our team and then the Tampa “Rednecks” would finally be happy.
I think DB55 needs to buy a new mirror and look in it to see who the real racist is.

  35. DB55 Says:

It means no “thugs” need apply.

  36. LakeLand Says:

At least he will get the chance to play in a playoff game with the Jags. He wouldn’t get that opportunity with the Yucs.

  37. Chris@Apple Roof Cleaning Tampa Says:

ASJ went to the University of Washington, and lived in Seattle, a real party city and university.
Too bad he couldn’t sober up here in Tampa.
Now, Jacksonville will have a huge target for a tall QB like Blake Bortles to hit.

  38. Turn Off the Licht Says:

Huge mistake by J-Ville. This guy will cash in and show that he’s soft and lazy. Just watch.

  39. SB Says:

So “thugs” has been glorified And vilified in the mainstream media by two totally different , er, um, ethnic groups and one is offended that it’s glorifying of said word is offensive to the other and on and on and on. Smh.

  40. DB55 Says:

Idk all I know is it’s the TB real fans go to phrase for most black players who are not bible toting Christians with huge smiles. It’s code for n*****.

Have you ever asked other posters what they mean when they post “thug” or are you just triggered by my comments?

  41. ClwJB Says:

We should have uncovered his drinking issue prior to drafting him

but, can’t blame the GM once the kid showed his arse so many times,,,he had to go

At least it appears he turned his life around, good for him

  42. I Bleed Pewter and Red Says:

He never wanted to be here so he found his way out. The NFL don’t care if players act badly for teams they are first drafted by. There are no punishments, repercussions, monetary blackballing or anything to deter highly drafted players from insubordination or lackluster effort with the sole intent of being cut prematurely because they don’t want to be there. If I remember, he was picked up pretty quickly. So as much as the NFL preaches about league integrity you’d think they’d have a bylaw to deter this type of behavior, but they don’t. Did we get a supplemental draft pick for him? I can’t remember

  43. Greg Says:

Really wanted the Buccaneers to sign Aryn Lynch. Good size and speed for defense of end. Would’ve been great value. But God knows Jason light hates sacks

  44. LakeLand Says:

Playing for the Yucs will drive you to alcoholism.

  45. webster Says:

    @ db55

Means? Goode? These guys have not combined for 20 tkls since they have been gone. You call that shining? Gtfoh. You are so pathetic that you are crying for means? I bet his own coaches doesnt even know he is on the team. Punt returner shining so much you cant even remember his name. As for barron, the safety turned lb, thats more on lovie because barron did not fit the secondary scheme. He was drafted by dominick as a safety, not a linebacker. Your list was he!!@ weak son. Next time do not come off the top of your head.

  46. Dewey Selmon Says:

DB, thugs is just a bad person, could be any color. If we wanted to to specify blacks we would use the term “looters”.

  47. gambelero Says:

He did some good things with the Jets, but he wasn’t great. And he wasn’t close to what his pre-draft expectations were.

And his paycheck isn’t that fat, has only one year guaranteed and doesn’t even come close to UFA Brate’s deal. The Jag media and fans see him as a second tier player, kind of like the Dlinemen we signed.

  48. SteveK Says:

    Db55,

You made a comment about color this morning when referring to our new FA d linemen.

Let’s keep this discussion about football.

  49. webster Says:

    @ d-rome

You are crying about losing a tightend when the bucs have two that are way better than him? You fans are clueless.

  50. webster Says:

    @ dewey

You say thugs can be any color, but unfortunately when ever it is used, it is used to describe blacks.

  51. webster Says:

    @ dewey

Also you say looters as if whites do not steal. Gtfoh

  52. Rod Munch Says:

DB55 – LOL! What’s the code word for “whinny cupcake who thinks everyone is out to get him”? Anywho you seem very upset and angry and I know you blame that on everyone else but in reality it’s all about you. For example I know lots of white trash that are miserable failures – yet they have alabaster skin. How does that happen? Well glad you asked. You see some people, like yourself, are just garbage that lack any self awareness, they don’t get that everyone hates them for who they are and not the color of the skin. But since you have a victim mentality you’ll never understand that the problem is you. I’d quote Stripes and say “lighten up Francis” but it’s too late for you, you’re a lost cause and will always be a miserable failure, so the best thing I can do is to point and laugh.

    God bless.

  54. gambelero Says:

Okay. So, I might be wrong about the one year thing.

  55. Rod Munch Says:

Greg – I didn’t know Aaron Lynch had signed… and he signed with the Bears. Ugh. But hey the Bucs signed the Bears 4th string DE so there’s that.

  56. SCBucsFan Says:

It is mind boggling how little this team is doing

  57. webster Says:

    @ i bleed

You dont get supplemental picks when you cut a player

  58. mark2001 Says:

Maybe he will have a coach he will really play for, unlike every coach down here except for Dungy and Gruden.

  59. I Bleed Pewter and Red Says:

    @SCBucsFan

    I agree

  60. TouchDownTampaBay Says:

Two things SB, are you really a solid poker player and wtf does that have to do with this article. Curious if I have seen you at the HR before.

  61. Rod Munch Says:

I think Joe’s website is broken, it’s day 2 of FA and the Bucs haven’t signed anyone of note and the top story on the site is about the Jags signing a TE…

    Something isn’t right here.

  62. AlteredEgo Says:

    They resigned Carter a DE

  63. ManzielMadness Says:

    From Twitter
    “@PewterReport
Alex Okafor left OBP without a contract. That may have been the #Bucs’ call and not necessarily Okafor’s. He may not be fully healthy since tearing his Achilles. We’ll see. Don’t rule out Tampa Bay landing him at some point.”

  64. AlteredEgo Says:

  65. mark2001 Says:

  66. SteveK Says:

We need a pass rush in the worst way. Make it happen, Licht. We will lose more than we win next year if we can’t generate pressure on the opposing quarterback.

  67. mark2001 Says:

Super bowl bound.. book your hotel in Atlanta…and drive or fly from Jacksonville. After all, it isn’t too far to drive.

Well First off the Poker playing was an analogy to what Licht has to do with 31 other GMs in trying to win.
And secondly, yes I am a solid player but if you have seen me at the HR it was at least 14 years ago.

  70. Jeffbuc Says:

Man are free agency is so busy are go to site has an article about a Jets tight end being signed by the jaguars. Fresh with an update and all. Then a bucs doing nothing article. Then 3 rd on the list a story of a team signing a guy we cut. Man glad I keep coming back to joebucs fan to keep getting other teams updates. I could care less where Doug Martin and drunk boy Austin end up. Tell me who we are still interested in. Who we have coming for visits. Instead of these articles please. You have to have some inside on who we are eying I mean for the love of god please give me bucs only articles

  71. Jeffbuc Says:

I see a new article and I get excited thinking we actually did something.

  72. mark2001 Says:

Jeff…” for the love of god please give me bucs only articles”. So the Bucs are doing virtually nothing. If you don’t like reading about these FA’s and the follow ups where other teams sign them, suggest you take a break for a week, or you will be substantially disappointed continually. Wish that wasn’t the way Licht was operating, but that is the way it is.

Don’t hold me to it, but I’m pretty sure Incognito’s name came up earlier. Oh, and the closet-thugette Hernandez. He’s net exactly black, is he?

  74. Mike Evans GOAT Says:

We are the flucking browns. I would be happy with a C/G and a CB. But yet we get nothing. We keep resigning all these bums and we let the best FA center leave on a private jet. (We flew him in on south west coach). This team is pathetic. We let the wrong guy leave to Tennessee (Jon Robinson).

  75. DB55 Says:

    Webster

What’s funny is that all those guys have more playoff appearances than McIceCream.

You asked for the talent that left to shine elsewhere, well there’s a few names off the dome. I didn’t say they were superstars just that they shined elsewhere.

    @ lucious

You have to go back 8 years to incognito? And they called him a bully. Read any comment section of an article about a black man and there are countless commenters calling the guy a thug. Read an article of a white guy doing the same thing and you may have a couple commenters calling him a thug. One of those commenters is a black poster asking where are all the people calling the white guy a thug? The proof is there. I have not seen one person in comment sections call baker mayfield a thug. If the black qb had a dui, grab his privates and flipped off the other team, he would be called a thug by numerous posters. The proof is there

I was one of the few that said it was bad. Penn was my favorite player. But iif you can only write one player, then that does not equate to multiple

  105. Mcruzer Says:

you guys sound really good with numbers! So If any of you want to buy a time share, you should buy two from me. That way you can sell a week and it will pay for a free vacation and if you buy three, you can actually make money! Anyone want some insulin.

  106. SteveK Says:

Tmaxcon is a true fan. He is entitled to his opinion.

What non fan would spend as much time posting about the Bucs?

Just because he’s down on the Bucs and 93 doesn’t mean he’s not a fan.

This team has sucked for the last decade and he deserves his right to free speech.

Do I agree with everything posted, no, but I do appreciate the posts he makes. They even provide me with a chuckle. This team is so bad you need to laugh about it or else it will depress you.

Keep on keeping on Tmaxcon. and maybe I’d the Bucs actually played a meaningful season with results he would lighten up? Until then, no way Jose.

  107. The Anomaly Says:

I serially fear that Jameis gets suspended and our season is toast. I hope he’s not suspended and we can have a shot at the playoffs. Losing Winston for as ma y as 6 games would destroy our season, and that’s the only thing I can think of as to justify not bringing in some more highly sought after free agents?

You are crying for a player that finally got meaningful minutes 4 years after being drafted? So you wanted the gm to wait 4 years before a player shows he can actually play in spot duty ( 5 catches). Clueless as they come. Bernard reedy? I believe evans, jackson, hump, godwin, martino and even bobo wilson is better than reedy. Reedy? You cant be serious.

Barth? Barth in 2015 made 83% of his kicks without any distance. The last two years with the bears, he made 78% and 68%. So you are mad at licht for not keeping barth? Keep trying. I love the straws you are pulling. Buc fans, please educate yourselves and do not be like db55 and tmax. Barth? You mean barf right?

  113. DB55 Says:

    Webster

Why so serious? You asked for people who shined. All these guys are shining on their current teams. What you want? And look I don’t react well to being called dumb or whatever so let’s keep it cordial.

  114. webster Says:

    @ tmax and db55

Licht let go of jonathan banks too. He went on to detroit. Lets blame licht for not keeping banks too since you guys think his impact is the same as talib, blount and bennett. Oh dont forget jonathan casillias

  115. DB55 Says:

Your concern should be why a team like Carolina can use a guy like clay and get him to contribute but when he’s in Tampa he’s complete garbage. That is the issue at hand my friend.

Only poor craftsman blame their tools.

  116. SB Says:

@Steve K… Glad you are more tolerant than I am. I was at the very first Home Game ever at 10 yrs old, second row, 40 yrd line right behind the Bucs bench and I might have missed ONE game over the next 20 years! I sat through 14 STRAIGHT losing seasons! I have no tolerance for fair weather fans. Sorry but that is my stance! Someone that comes here to do nothing but comment negatively is by definition a Troll. That is all Tmax is. IMO that is for what that is worth.

  117. DB55 Says:

Casillas is a starter for the Giants.

  118. webster Says:

    @ db55

Shining? 12 tkls in 4 years is shining for means? Completing 68% of your kicks is shining? Goode with 30 tkls in 4 years is shining? You and i have a different opinion of what shining is. Hall of famer steve young shined. 5 time pro bowler talib shined. 3 time prow bowl benett shined. 3 time super bowl winner blount shined. Goode averaging less than 10 tkls a season since he has been gone is not shining. His team shined but he did not. No one outside of you and his current position coach knows who he is. Thats not shining. No need to continue talking to you because you have no idea what shining means. I get it though. You probably are the product of everyone gets a trophy. I am sorry for you.

  119. @Broy3434 Says:

NCAA tourney is on and db55 is repeatedly saying boycott 2018. Feel sorry for the trolls.

  120. webster Says:

    @ db55

Its called maturing and getting better. In 2014, he was not an nfl player. He still had 4 years of development before he could contribute 5 catches to carolina. And you crying about that? You need to ask yourself how in the world you are clueless to the fact that no other team in the nfl even had him on a roster in 2016. Because he was not an nfl player then. And he is a marginal one now

  121. Mike Evans GOAT Says:

We just need a whole new everything. New ownership (is there a way to get them to sell?) new GM, new coaching staff, new D line and cbs

  122. webster Says:

    @ db55

Casillias had 34 tkls last year. I’ll give you a mulligan. He only played 8 games. The year before he played all year with 60 tkls. All 3 of our starters had more tkls than that. You crying for casillias? Keep pulling those straws. You are entertaining

  123. LakeLand Says:

20 players from the 2013 Tampa Bay Bucs has been on playoff rosters

    10 were starters

    Some were Pro-Bowl players

    Some won Super Bowls

  124. DB55 Says:

Keep playing and imma be real entertaining for you kid. I asked you nicely. I’m not a patient individual.

Again you’re right I don’t gaf about your topic I was simply stating that more than a few players left the Bucs and got rings with other teams.

You sounded like you needed some help that is all.

  125. tmaxcon Says:

    SB

still butt hurt that I am always right… crying about positive… this franchise has not done anything positive since shipping that one dimensional ignorant fool dungy the mr peanut look a like out the door….

i’ll be positive when they earn it.

  126. SB Says:

Tmax..There is no way I could possibly care less about what you think. I just call it as I see it. You and I have no reason to converse, so let’s cease. K?

  127. Todd Says:

The glazers have to be wanting to move this team to London. Can they really be this bad at running this team ?

  128. Eric Says:

Jameis will have a stellar season and save the day.

I never address your sorry arse unless responding to your stupidity. Typical punk calls names and takes his ball and goes home.

  130. webster Says:

    @ db55

Nah my brotha. I dont need help. I come equip with the real ie facts. Licht has not let any player go that you should be crying about. That was my point from jump

  131. Rod Munch Says:

You guys are such tools, if the Glazers were cheap and didn’t want to spend any money why did they spend on Evans – they could have played out his 5th year and done nothing and saved $5m. Also why unexpectedly give Brate a new deal a year before his old deal was up, they literally didn’t have to do anything with Brate – just give him a 2nd round tender and pocket and extra $4-mil – no one was really thinking he’d get a new deal before signing the tender.

The issue here isn’t the Glazers, it’s Licht. Licht knows he’s on going to get fired if he screws up again in FA, so what better way to not screw up than to do nothing at all? Licht has a history of success in the draft and after next year when Dirk is fired Licht will goto the owners and say I’m great at drafting and we didn’t have a single bust in free agency!

This is on Licht who always looks for “deals” in free agency and is afraid of overspending, not because the Glazers won’t let him spend, but because every year he busts in FA and wastes tens of millions of dollars with nothing to show for it.

  132. webster Says:

    @ db55

And not once did you say i was right. You challenged my initial post by talking about goode, means, barth etc. Thats why i challenged you back. I can gaf about patience. I bring the real

  133. mike10 Says:

@webster, talent Licht let out the door:

    ASJ
    BARRON
    MCDOUGAL (sp?)
    Zuttah
    Penn
    Akeem Spence

It’s just a Bucs life, there are starters throughout the league that have worn a Bucs uniform

  134. @Broy3434 Says:

Rod munch. Amen brother. Thankyou. These fans which is an overstatement are mindnumbingly stupid

  135. webster Says:

    @ rod

95% of the teams bust in free agency. For every callias campbell, there are 5 nnamdi asomgwas. Free agency is a crap shoot. Ask the vikings about signing greg jennings when they were a playoff team the year prior after he left the packers. Ask the dolphins about signing the superbowl hero in santonio holmes. What do we know about football? Of the 12 teams that make the playoffs, at least 7 teams wont make it the year following and thats after signing a lot of splash free agents

  136. Rod Munch Says:

According to spotrac the Bucs actually moved down to #9 in available cap space with $36m available. The draft will take up around $9m as well.

The talk on other sites is that the Bucs want to redo deals with Marpet, Kwon and perhaps D Smith this offseason to take some of their cap hit up front to save money later. If true that is really the only excuse for not spending in FA as it would eat up all the cap space.

Then again the Bucs don’t have to do deals with any of those guys and in general you do contract extensions, which would kick in next offseason. In fact on guys with deals less than 4 years that were drafted, I didn’t think you could redo deals, I thought you could only do extensions, but I certainly could be wrong. If anyone knows, and it’s not just a guess, let me know how that works.

  137. webster Says:

    @ mike 10

Mcdougal is equivalent to chris conte. Only buc fans and half of seattle fans know who mcdougal is. Akeem spence is nowhere better than mcdonald. Only buc fans and half of detroit fans know who akeem spence is. Maybe that is shining to you. Asj? Both of your tightends just last year put up better numbers than asj and he was the only tightend for the jets. You cant be serious.

  138. mike10 Says:

    @webster

    Remembered another:
    JD Swearinger

  139. webster Says:

    Mike 10

Barron? He was drafted to be a safety by dominick. The rams moved him to lb. I dont know about you, but david, kwon, and beckwith are better line backers. Fyi…justin evans is a better safety than barron also. I will let you cry about that

  140. webster Says:

    @ mike 10

If you can only come up with one player ie penn that the bucs should not have gotten rid of then, you have no argument.

  141. Chris in WA Says:

I can’t ever take the opinion of Tmax seriously when he defended the Community Investment Tax for completely funding Ray Jay for the Glazers by Hillsborough county taxpayers while they get to keep most of the proceeds from ALL events, football or not. He said it was a good deal for the city and county. Does that sound like a man who’s opinion you would value? He just likes flinging poo in the comments to piss other people off (A.K.A. trolling). He feeds off the attention.

  142. LakeLand Says:

    Darrelle Revis
    Timmy Wright
    Mason Foster
    Adrian Clayborn
    Dashon Goldson
    Chris Jones

    And there’s more

  143. webster Says:

    @ chris

Tmax the idiot also thinks derrick brooks is garbage. He is an idiot.

    @ mike 10

Swearinger played with 2 teams since lovie cut him. Remember, lovie had final say over the final 53. Fyi…swearinger would not have made this team 11-5.

  144. Lamarcus Says:

Gruden out there signing old players again

  145. ElioT Says:

Can’t stand Dominik but he’s got a better chance of selling me as a FA than this half-t*rd meathead #lichtmyb*lls.

“Duh, you join Sucs I jump in da pool when win game… I jump in little pool few times. Here come Greenbergstienfeld with no harm team paper to sign” – #Lichtmyb*lls

  146. DanBucsFan Says:

Really the only beef I have is that we missed out on trade for Quinn, and Bennet. For obvious reasons, but to over pay for average free agents would have set our team back, I know some of you love to criticize, but just know that it wouldn’t have been anymore than smoke screen or fake window dressing signing players at outrageous contracts just in order to win free agency. Some might need a break for lil bit, I get the anger with results, but now the conspiracy theory’s are coming out. Imo, dont u think if the organization didn’t care about wins it would just sign all top free agents to appease the fans? And dont say Glaziers are cheap, THEY TAKE CARE OF THEIR OWN , players and fans!!! Any of yall been to RayJay lately? Mike Evans, Cam Brate got taken care of. SO COME ON BROTHERS N SISTER FELLOW BUCS FANS, lets actually get behind OUR team. We have a few months to rejuvenate if you need, stay away if u must from all Bucs for a lil while. Then, COME BACK READY TO KICK SOME A$$ this year cuz we are building it the right way. Draft and pick up role players in free agency. GO BUCS

  147. NFLNut Says:

    RODMUNCH,

Redo deals? I don’t think Kwon, Ali and Donovan can have their deals redone as their in the last year of their rookie deal … they can each receive long-term extensions but that’s it as far as I’m aware …

  148. Rod Munch Says:

NFLNut – right, that’s what I’ve always heard – drafted rookies can only get extensions not new deals, so people saying the Bucs are setting aside money for new deals for Marpet, Smith and Kwon are full of it — well assuming we are both correct.

  149. Rod Munch Says:

@Chris – While Tmax is garbage, he’s correct on the community tax. I. This particular area the economy is driven by tourism and people coming from out of town. The local government spends millions a year on marketing this area to people out of state – and that I believe is mostly wasted money. What isn’t wasted money is to have a MNF game in Tampa in December when it’s 70 degrees and the weather is perfect while people up north or nose high in snow. Same holds true for having a home game versus Detroit or GB or the Vikings in Nov and Dec, there literally is no possible better way to advertise the area. So in this particular market the stadium makes sense – and in particular for how relatively cheap it is.
