Free Agent Trolling

Dolphins fed up?

The following will sort of be like when your mom took you to Publix but wouldn’t let you have M&Ms at the checkout line because she said they would be bad for you.

Here is free agent news that got the attention of some Bucs fans. The player seem, like the M&Ms, really good on the outside but a bit messy inside.

Per the fingers of heavy metal headbanging Jason La Canfora of CBS Sports, the Dolphins have run out of patience with beastly defensive tackle Ndamukong Suh. The Dolphins would have you believe it has nothing to do with Suh expected to count some $26 million against the cap in the new league year. Right.

Joe’s not sure if Suh should be a Bucs target as they could/should utilize that cash for other positions, but beefing up at defensive tackle should be a priority, especially with the likely departure of Swaggy Baker.

Gerald McCoy is every bit as good as Suh and likely better, but with a loud sect of Bucs fans, Suh would be an immediate favorite. Why? Because he stomps on players and chokes players and likes to jam his thumb into a player’s eye.

Oh goodie, just what the Bucs need, a player known for extending drives for the opposing offense. But hey, it looks cool so why not go all WWE? Dumb penalties, isn’t that one reason why Swaggy is getting run out of town?

Still, even given the above information, Joe wouldn’t be opposed to a Suh signing.

Sebastian Janikowski: Per Paul Gutierrez of BSPN, “SeBas” will be released. Not long ago, SeBas would have been perfect to solve the Bucs’ ills at kicker (Joe is not sold on Patrick Murray, but he is an upgrade from the previous kicking mess). Those days are done.

SeBas, who will turn 40 in March, missed all of last season with a bad back. A middle-aged kicker with a bad back? Gee, what could go wrong? That’s a toxic mix. The only way Joe would take a flyer on this guy is if five separate doctors give SeBas a green light.

C.J. Anderson: The Broncos running back had his best season rushing, breaking the 1,000-yard plateau for the first time. Despite this, Jeff Legwold of BSPN believes Anderson will be either traded or cut. So why the hell would they release him? Legwold believes Anderson’s contract was structured so the team could cut him this offseason with no cap hit.

For the crowd that screams the Bucs have a rotten offensive line, in reality perhaps no team in the NFL had a worse offensive line than Denver. Despite this, Anderson, 27, still had 1,000 yards. So if Anderson can do this behind a total sieve of a line — and no passing game — imagine what he could do behind a better line with the Bucs?

The Broncos, per Legwold, believe Devontae Booker is the running back of the future, not Anderson. It also appears there is growing friction between Anderson and the team because Denver ran off his position coach, Eric Studesville.

Joe cannot imagine this guy Anderson getting open on the free agent market.

Duh would be better suited placed on a team that has established leadership and holds teammates accountable.

That’s why he didn’t work out in Miami. He wouldn’t work here without an unforeseen transformation.

With all the investing Licht has done at kicker he would actually look pretty dumb to not throw some cash at Janakowski IMO. I mean the dude has been holding pocket deuces and calling huge bets every street. Now a dueled drops on the river. How the eff can he fold?

  2. JimmyJack Says:

Joe so long as your moderating me fix my typos while you’re at it please. Thanks

  3. Easy Denman Says:

Why would any of the guys want to play on a team with Cancer93?

    TMAXCON logic

  4. tmaxcon Says:

    Easy Denman

That’s exactly right why would they want to play with a career loser who sucks the desire to be great and will to win from any coach or free agent that comes to the bay…. the losing culture is real and led by the crying clown the undisputed face of the basement years

  5. zzbuc Says:

Suh could be a great add, but to expensive.
We don’t need a kicker, let’s stay put with Murray
CJ anderson, makes much more sense…..at the right price

  6. 813bucboi Says:

this staff has its backs against the wall….the pressure is on….its time to go big or go home….we all complained about how we whiffed on d.poe and CC last year….if suh becomes available you sign him…point blank period….to a 1 year 2 year 3 year deal it don’t matter…..

licht must pull out all the stops if he wants to keep his job and show this city that he’s serious about winning…..its time to swing for the fences….

    #NOEXCUSESIN2018!!!!….GO BUCS!!!!

  7. Atrain4047 Says:

Suh with McCoy and then draft Chubb. Dline would look pretty good for the next few years. Chubb could be that rookie to reach double digit sacks.

Tmax, that’s like saying joe Thomas who has been to numerous pro bowls sucks the life out of his team cuz they suck.

  8. Joeypoppems Says:

I dont think any of these guys would be a good move. Maybe CJ Anderson if he hits the market. Trading for him would not be wise. Janikowski, imo, is done. And I agree with JimmyJack on Suh. The lack of leadership on this team and his history isnt a good mix

  9. OrlandoJoe Says:

Only guys we need to spend money on this offseason are Ziggy Ansah, Trumaine Johnson, and Andrew Norwell. Pick one or two and chew up that cap space.

  10. BucsFanInNC Says:

I’d take Suh in Tampa. We need a Nasty lineman that is actually good. Him and McCoy would be dynamic. And we would actually get to see who’s better by which one the opposition doubles.

  11. Lamarcus Says:

GMC is nowhere near better than Suh.

  12. tmaxcon Says:

    Atrain4047

Pro bowls are less than meaningless and nothing more than a irrelvant popularity contest. You are comparing apples to oranges one is a man the other is a soft doll playing quitter

  13. Joeypoppems Says:

    Plus doesnt Suh play 3-tech?

What is Licht gonna do? Pay Suh 8 figures to rotate with GMC, who also makes 8 figurs? What a waste of money that would be.

  14. Lamarcus Says:

Bucs won’t touch Suh. GMC makes sure that happens

Bucs loves squares on defense. Batman gold chain wearing comic book junkies. Players like LVD who their greatest strength is thier “smartness” type players. Brent Grimes type players.

So Suh is out of the question. Too strong and hell bent.

  15. Lamarcus Says:

I can tell GMC there is no “I” in team. GMC would reply ” But there is a M and E tho”.

Can we add Suh. just his bad ass attitude is what this team lacks. Cj Anderson I would like also Trade for Bennett.

  16. AlteredEgo Says:

I’d love to see the tandem of Suh and McCoy….Suh will knock them down and McCoy pick them up….

  17. Pickgrin Says:

Dolphins were stupid to sign Suh for as much as they did. Great player sure – but he counts $26M against the cap this year and $28M next year. That’s 7 & 9M more than you are paying your QB – dumbarses. And to top it off – now that they are tired of his BS – the Phins are going to take a HUGE dead cap hit if they release Suh anytime over the next 2 years – $22M dead cap hit this year or $13M next year. They are basically stuck with Suh because obviously no team would consider trading for that ridiculous contract even though Suh is a top 5 DT in the league.

By contrast, GMC (also a top 5 DT)is making $12.75M this year and $13M or less each of the next 4 years.

  18. DBS Says:

Sure. And you couldn’t wait to get Fat Albert here either. Never learn about going after the big names that have been from one team to another.

  19. tmaxcon Says:

    Pickgrin

Love when you make stuff up. Cancer93 is not a top 5 Dt in anyone’s mind that is not a card carrying member of the cancer93 apologists family led by living the past Joe.

Having a top dt does not translate to wins money is better spent elsewhere

  20. 813bucboi Says:

the phins are tired of suh’s BS because he wants to win….he’s tired of losing so he has to ruffle some feathers…..that’s cool….suh realizes not everyone has to like him and he’s fine with that….he can take being the most hated as long as he’s winning….being the most hated while losing would turn anyone into a mad man…..

and I do think we have the right leadership on the team its just not enough….its only a hand full of players….suh would add to that….

bottom line is we cant afford to pass on a player with suh talent…..cut baker, martin, sweezy and maybe will gholston….sign suh, Malcolm butler, ej gaines and jensan…..draft…chubb…giuce…taven bryan….

    #NOEXCUSESIN2018!!!!….GO BUCS!!!!

  21. doolnutts Says:

McCoy and Suh on the same team… Boy that would be fun to watch

  22. Lord Cornelius Says:

My worry is age. Suh is 31 and McCoy will be 30 soon.

I’d rather target one of these guys:

    Sheldon Richardson (27)
    Star Lotulelei (28)

Preferably Star. There’s also David Irving/Muhammed Wilkerson as possibilities but they both have bad attitudes / practice habbits / etc so I don’t want to go all Baker acted again.

Also – there’s a possibility the Rams have to cut Robert Quinn if he won’t take a pay cut. I think that’d be a pretty great signing.

He missed 1/2 the seasons in 15 and 16 coming off of back injury but still put up 9 sacks in those 17 appearances. In 2017 he only missed 1 game and had 8.5 sacks / 2 FF / 1 PD / 4 tackles for loss; and will be 28 years old this summer.

  23. godzilla13 Says:

Ndamukong Suh would be some kind of an addition? Lets see, would have to not re-sign all of our FA’s, with the exception of Brent Grimes, make one of two other cuts and we just may be able to even afford Claiborne or Butler? Just a DL of Ayers, Suh, McCoy and Spence/Gholston would add new life into pressuring the QB. Draft DE Chubb or OG Nelson in the first, then S Ronnie Harrison in the second round to bring out fans to the new “house of pain”. The scary part..could it really happen? JUST DO IT!

  24. Its_A_Tough_Buc_Life Says:

I would take Suh in a heartbeat.. He would bring an edge to the Dline that has hasn’t exited since the 03 days.. If we could draft Chubb, our Dline is in business. SIGN Andrew Norwell and if Talib or Mathieu hit the open market POUNCE.

  25. StPeteBucsFan Says:

GMC has better sack numbers and is not that far off on tackles. He’s produced far more than Suh for their comparable salaries which are not really that close.

And here is a wager for anybody who wants to take it.

I’ll bet that if we do not sign Suh there were be posters here who claim we wanted him but GMC nixed the deal. Is there ANY doubt? And we could all probably name a half dozen candidates to post such nonsense.

As for actually signing him….NOT as his present cost. If Miami agreed to pick up some of that committed money I’d consider him but he is the actual ripoff of money that some JBF posters try to lay on GMC. His production simply does not justify his salary and it’s not really close. Stomped players gouged eyes and all.

  26. Armybucsfan Says:

I’m sorry but reading everyone’s comments about what a waste of money Suh would be are the same people who said the same thing about C. Campbell who with his addition almost took his team to the Super Bowl. Now I know what everyone is going to say it wasn’t just Campbell but he made a tremendous impact on Jacksonville’s D line while ours looked like it belonged on that of a high school team. I’d say pick up Suh,draft Chubb, and focus on Defense this draft. Get rid of Doug Martin and pick up another free agent that will produce for the guaranteed money that we were going to pay Martin. Hell, we even missed out on Adrian Peterson for pennies compared to what we paid Martin to sit on his A$$. If we do not make the moves and get highly talented free agents this off season we will be looking at ANOTHER REGIME CHANGE!!!

  27. Joeypoppems Says:

    @Armybucsfan

The difference between Campbell and Suh is the positions they play. Campbell can play Edge whereas Suh is a 3-tech, same position as GMC.

So as I posted earlier, unless you want to pay Suh 8 figures to play in a rotation with GMC, who also makes 8 figures, it is a waste of money.

  28. TrollSlayer Says:

    Tmaxcon

your logic is idiotic at best- put Gmac on a team with a halfway good line and they would turn into the best line in football dude is the real poo may as well take a big ol’ whiff

  29. WutdaBucisthis Says:

Yea make this happen somehow Licht. I’d be ok wit keeping GMC⬇ for one more run. At that point I’d also trade up to grab Chubb. That line would strike fear. That line would say…i dare you to double team.
Damn it Jim! I mean Jason…make that happen

  30. El_Buc941 Says:

It would be nice to acquire Suh next to McCoy and draft Chubbs and maybe, just maybe, land Michael bennet.can you imagine the hell these 4 would cause?

  31. El_Buc941 Says:

@Joeypoppems… actually I would recommend rotation because that would help keep pressure on the QB and keep McCoy fresh well into the 4th qtr.

  32. LakeLand Says:

If they want someone to play next to GMC. Why not sign a true NT like Dontari Poe? A man beast that eat up blockers and free up the 3-Tech, DE and Linebackers.

  33. Buccaneer Bonzai Says:

Man…could you imagine McCoy and Ndamukong Suh side by side? What a beast pair of DTs.

  34. NFLNut Says:

Suh and GMC would be nasty … but that’s WAY TO MUCH $$$$ on one position!

Bring in the Polish Hammer … I love that guy!

CJ Anderson would be fine though I’d rather have Carlos Hyde

  35. 813bucboi Says:

    stpete

stats are for loser…..screw the numbers….can GMC get us to the playoffs…..the answer is no!!!!

suh helped turn the lions around and helped them get to the playoffs…..help take the phins to the playoffs…..

you crave stats….the “real fans” want playoffs…..

    #NOEXCUSESIN2018!!!!!….GO BUCS!!!!

  36. LakeLand Says:

Dontari Poe has been to the playoffs 4 times during his 6 year career. I doubt he will sign with the Bucs.

  37. Rod Munch Says:

Suh + McCoy would make the DE’s there better, there is no doubt about that. The Bucs have money to spend and there are no DE’s worth spending on in FA, so why not try to work around by figuring out other ways of getting to the QB. I don’t think there’s any way Suh would come here since him and McCoy play similar positions, so it’s a moot point, but put the two out there together and teams would have a lot to worry about and all that talk of game planning to take McCoy out of games, that is all flushed down the toilet.

  38. Rod Munch Says:

C.J. Anderson is a guy who has some talent but nothing special and last year was the first time he’s ever played 16 games and the first time he’s ever hit 1000 yards. He’s always been a bust guy in fantasy, someone who you always expect great things from and he always disappoints. Yeah fantasy ain’t real life, but in real life I’m not sure teams are going to be promising him a starting job anywhere. One thing that does stand out in his stats is that he only has 3 fumbles lost in his career – that is actually quite impressive for a guy who has played 58 games, so that’s a plus.

  39. Season Is Over Says:

None of this matters when you have DE’s that can never beat a one on one.

  40. webster Says:

    @ st. Pete

I am not sure where you are getting your numbers from. Mccoy has 269 tkls and 48.5 sacks compared to suh with 419 tkls and 51.5 sacks. That tells me suh is better. I am not saying mccoy is not good but suh is better.

  41. Reach87 Says:

Think if you say mccoy is soft or selfish enough times makes it true. You are quite frankly talking out if your soft, non-football playing, tv watchin’, never tried out, wish it could be me @ss. Its funny. Sad. Go Bucs!

  42. Rod Munch Says:

webster – Suh has played in over a season more of games than McCoy due to McCoy’s first few years being injury plagued, however if you look at per game basis then McCoy has the better sack rate. As for tackles that’s more about the defense you play and what you’re assigned to do but in general scouts have always said McCoy is the better pass rusher while Suh is the better run stopper, but both can play the run and pass extremely well. Also McCoy has consistently played on defensive lines with no other talent around him, that does make a difference since teams game plan for McCoy without having to worry about other guys. Meanwhile Suh has played with Cameron Wake, Ezekiel Ansah, Cliff Avril. There’s more to play than looking at box scores.

  43. webster Says:

    @ rod

Im looking at the individual player. Im looking how suh plays when he is double teamed as compared to mccoy etc. Suh is better. Suh has 150 more tackles than mccoy. That has more to do with suh than scheme. They are both 3 techniques which means their responsibilities are the same. Suh has played in 17 more games but mccoy would not come close to 150 tkls in 17 games. Btw…being healthy is another reason suh is better. The best ability is availability. Im not just looking at the box score.

  44. LakeLand Says:

I don’t know why people are always trying to pair GMC up with another 3-tech. The Bucs need to get a big body DT next to him.

  45. Greecosuave Says:

Duh at a discount would be great however at the price he is on now makes it Tough. I will say this this team has some pricing contract started probably deserve to find work with another team. Clearing out some of that worthless Might make his signing a bit more bearable. And something to consider.

  46. StPeteBucsFan Says:

Webster….I’ve prefaced my numbers as being from the three year stretch that Suh went to save the Dophins compared to McCoy’s past three years which the fans have gone nuckin futs over.

As Rod pointed out McCoy’s career was interrupted by injury at the start so Suh has played 17 more games…more than a full season to amass those stats. He also got to play next to the 13th overall pick Nick Fairley for part of that Lion stint although I concede Fairley only had a couple of decent years.

@813 And so that leads us back to Suh’s Dolphin career. Playing in absolutely the worst division in football…except obviously for ONE team the Pats…the vaunted Suh has led the Dophins to 6-10…10-6 with a wild card rout by the Pittsburgh Steelers 30-12 and then last year’s sparking record of 6-10…one more win than the Buc’s disaster…again playing the cupcake schedule while the Bucs had to play winners not losers. That’s a whopping two more wins over the three year period Suh has led the Dolphins than GMC has done for the Bucs.

GMC is not an HOFer…neither is Suh! They are both very good #3 DT’s and their career stats and playoff records are actually pretty similar.

Oh but Suh does gouge eyes and stomp players when they are down which makes him soooo much more attractive to many here who crave their violence at an existential level. Not about football but hurting someone.

Suh has been fined eight times through 2014 for a total of $255,375 by the NFL, with seven for player-safety violations, and suspended once (for two games), resulting in the loss of an additional $165,294 in pay.

  47. DB55 Says:

Plot twist: Suh signs and immediately stomps on gmc and chokes gmc and likes to jam his thumb into a gmc’s eye. And when he’s done with ice cream he’ll go do it to Evans smith. Lolololololololololol

    #ItsAPinkGayPiratesLife

  48. TheDailyCoroner Says:

So, Suh is an eye gouging slug.
Hardy Nickerson was an into the eye spitting slug.
Sap was a cheap shot blocking dislocate the pelvis slug.
Sounds like Suh would fit in. Then again Nickerson and Sapp were great team leaders and did not tolerate anything but leaving everything on the field.
Hmm. Maybe Suh wouldn’t fit .

  49. Off the Cuff Says:

Even though most of them are head cases, the deepest free agent position is defensive tackle.

The Bucs aren’t only missing talent, but also attitude and aggression.

  50. DoNUTS Says:

Yes to Quinn and Anderson but no to Suh and SeBas.

  51. UNCLE URK Says:

If he is truly available we have to sign him. Because I can see the saints, Panthers or even the falcons signing him and him going peppers on us. These are the last days of McCoy, put another pro bowler with him please bucs. Two years, and if it doesn’t work, the whole thing is going to the toilet anyway.

  52. GhostofSchiano Says:

Interesting but I am still haunted by the ghost of Albert Haynesworth………
