Hello From Super Bowl LII

January 29th, 2018

Ice sculpture of Super Bowl LII in downtown Minneapolis Sunday.

Yes, Joe arrived in Minneapolis yesterday — 19 degrees and windy — to cover some Bucs-related stories as Super Bowl Week commences with Super Bowl Opening Night tonight at the Xcel Energy Center in St. Paul, home of the Minnesota Wild. The event can be seen live on NFL Network at 7 p.m.

So Joe is going to be tracking down Bucs nuggets here for a couple of days and trying hard not to go outside. Thus far, there is little buzz locally for the Super Bowl compared to a few years ago when Indianapolis hosted the game. There, it seemed as if half the state of Indiana turned out to pile into downtown Indianapolis and partake in the festivities.

Not so much in Minneapolis. Joe actually went to a high-end eatery in downtown Minneapolis Sunday afternoon and the manager was telling workers to go home it was so dead.

There may have been eight customers in the place. It was two blocks from where the Minnesota Timberwolves play and Joe is guessing the manager only wishes the Wolves were playing a Sunday afternoon game instead.

Of course, Joe will start a bit later this morning with much more from his time in Orlando covering the Pro Bowl.

Shame on the powers that be in Minneapolis for not scheduling any home games the week of the Super Bowl for the Wild or the Gophers. Not even the celebrated Gophers college hockey team has a home game. Talk about poor planning!

Who wants to go to Minnesota for anything – moreless in the middle of winter.

Oh and make sure you remind them of who put that 1, in their 15-1 season in 1998.

Lol curious as to what bucs stories will be in Minnesota. I bet itโ€™d be a different story if they had won last week.

Twin Cities is actually a nice place. As far as winter half of Minny is under ground.

I would imagine there may still be quite a few people reeling from that championship game.

Agree with the posters about Minny still trying to recover from that Philly beatdown.

The Twin Cities are a great place. No Rod you wouldn’t like them because yeah they care about social justice…imagine that….they do not like it when cops shoot unarmed black people in the back as they run away.

You wouldn’t fit at all Rod…the Twin Cities have class..dignity and their people possess critical thinking skills and are not haters.
