For The Jameis Haters

December 4th, 2017

Having last laugh?

Man, Bucs fans have unbelievably turned on America’s Quarterback, Pro Bowler Jameis Winston. They’ve become unhinged.

Dude is the best quarterback the Bucs have ever had and Bucs fans now think of him as a glorified Eric Zeier. Man, oh man.

Joe even got a Twitter yesterday from a Bucs fan who would rather have Tyrod Taylor start over Jameis. Can you imagine?

Bucs fans have become crazy AF.

Well, Twitter wasn’t a total sewer last night. Joe came across a Twitter from @jameis1of1 that should soothe the nerves of reasonable folks.

(It likely will only inflame the crazies.)

There is a certain quarterback who had damn near identical numbers to Jameis that folks may have heard of.

Jameis Winston first 40 games:
10,322 passing yards, 62 touchdowns, 39 interceptions.

Quarterback-X:
First 40 games: 10,312 pass yards, 70 touchdowns, 52 interceptions.

And who is mysterious “Quarterback-X?” That would be Peyton Manning.

As a Bucs season marketing catchphrase of the recent past once pushed, “Keep calm.”

    Joe

Jameis reminds me of Jeff George (for those who remember)

Has all the physical tools and abilities to be an elite quarterback……..but he just turned into a “head case” making stupid decisions with the ball all the time.

I could careless about stats and more about making the plays when needed and not putting your team in a hole or at an disadvantage.

  2. BartButtplug Says:

Not his fault. All QB’s make mistakes. He put them in a situation at the end to win. Defense blew it, just like they have all year. Good defense instills calm and takes pressure of the QB. He tries to overcome our bad defense. It’s a maturity thing. He’ll get there. He’s not a bust. Bust QB’s don’t own passing records.

  3. Youngbucs Says:

Joe please stop u wanna post something
How about a poll for jameis

  4. BB Says:

    YOU can’t fix stupid

  5. The Buc Realist Says:

    @Joe

and why are the win and losses missing?????

The trenches need 2 starters on each side!!!!!!! No more uninformed judgements on QB, Secondary and “play-calling” until the two lines are fixed!!!!!!!!

    Go Bucs!!!!!!!!!!

  6. AlteredEgo Says:

Jeff George may have been a head case ….BUT he threw a beautiful DEEP ball !

  7. C eh N eh D eh Says:

Shove the numbers!…Another totally IDIOTIC panic move when getting sacked. This continually happens and is extremely STUPID at this point that it continues. He is most certainly not the greatest Buc QB of all time, BALONEY! That still belongs to Doug Williams in his short Biucs career and it will still hold true when this overrated backup gets shown the door in Tampa. Hopefully sooner than later….

  8. Warrenfb12 Says:

Not sure why anyone would want to get rid of Jameis.

    ——————————————————————————————

    LOL

You-re 100% right on that one……Jeff George may have had the strongest ARM ever in the NFL.

  10. Bird Says:

Manning was 13-3 in year 2
    10-6 in year 3

    YAh. They are almost twins.

You guys are delusional. And nobody hates jameis. You get backlash cause from day 1 it’s jameis winston coverage only. Forget the rest of the team JAMEis jameis Americas qb looks very average Right now

Blame the coaches. Blame the line. Blame the rbs. BLAMe receivers
Jameis gets off the hook THE Guy who touches the ball every snap.

I just wish some of the other sites had More articles but they don’t SUCKS cause i am a huge fan and season ticket holder from orlando and have to put up with this nonsense.

  11. Bird Says:

  12. AlteredEgo Says:

It seems Jameis has plenty of time on most drop backs….but he doesn’t hit the short route WR with timing….looking for deeper routes to open…that and he does not step up into the pocket, but rather prefers to scramble and then every thing is scrambled ….throw to the spot and let the WR make the play…can’t wait until he is open ,by then it is too late and too easy for DB’s to read and react

  13. Mikadeemas Says:

I still think he’s gonna be a good one, and I’m sticking with him. GO BUCS!

  14. Tval Says:

Manning had a nasty d, Marvin and edgerrin.. Dont be dense.. Jameis has the clutch gene Peyton lacked..the ONLY difference

  15. Tval Says:

The bucs need bigs and dbs

  16. Buccaneer Bonzai Says:

J0E, I don’t see why you even try sometimes. Trolls are trolls are trolls. You will never change their minds.

Jameis is the best QB this team has EVER had, and yet these dimwits think we need to find better.

Newsflash, people. This is called growing pains. All QBs have them. The maturity and wins will come. Hopefully, you all will be long gone by then because you are the worst kind of fans imaginable. If you even are fans.

  17. Buccaneer Bonzai Says:

    AlteredEgo Says
“It seems Jameis has plenty of time on most drop backs…”

That’s a lie. Yesterday he had little to no time. You think he was scrambling as part of the plan all the time????

  18. AlteredEgo Says:

I’ll give the status quo one more year….of course with new drafts picks and FA’s…but I would seriously consider drafting a QB with starting potential…and let it sort itself out…

  19. AceofAerospace Says:

His “Oh shats” continue to cancel his “atta boys”. My problem is that he doesn’t seem to learn from his mistakes. How many of Peyton Manning’s int’s were from absolutely idiotic plays? That’s the stat I’m interested in. Yeah, he lead the team back and the defense choked again. But an idiotic play gave the Pack 6 points. I’m not suggesting cutting Jameis or drafting a QB early, I haven’t given up, yet. I am concerned, again about his maturity and his inability to learn from his mistakes. I point at ineffective coaching at this point.

  20. OrlandoJoe Says:

    Peyton Manning
    Year 1- 3739 Yards, 26 touchdowns and 28 interceptions.
    Year 2- 4135 yards, 26 touchdowns and 15 interceptions.
    Year 3- 4413 yards, 33 touchdowns and 15 interceptions.
Total- 12,287 yards, 85 touchdowns and 58 interceptions.

    Jameis Winston
    Year 1- 4042 yards, 22 touchdowns and 15 interceptions.
    Year 2- 4090 yards, 28 touchdowns and 18 interceptions.
Year 3- 1920 yards, 10 touchdowns and 6 interceptions so far.

Peyton Manning made a significant step forward each year. Jameis has dealt with injuries and no running game all year long. But he has more than enough weapons to make up for that. He isn’t Peyton. He isn’t going to become Peyton. The reason that he is getting all this hate from Bucs fans is that there is another allegation out there against him and no one can really trust him.

  21. C eh N eh D eh Says:

    @Buccaneer Bonzai…
Growing pains? ROOKIE QBs are coming into the league and showing immediate success…Wentz, Goff, Prescott, etc…And we have to wait for him to develop?

  22. AlteredEgo Says:

That’s a lie. Yesterday he had little to no time. You think he was scrambling as part of the plan all the time????

Jameis has plenty of time…he panics

  23. theodore Says:

As soon as Jameis masters the about-to-be-sacked-push-the-ball-forward-with-two-hands pass, he’ll be elite.

  24. Bobby M. Says:

He was inaccurate, turnover prone, with character concerns in college….not much has changed. He’s good enough to be a starter in the league but when drafted #1…overall….by yr 3 you hope to see more. This team is in such disarray however I don’t think you can analyze what you have without going in a new direction in coaching

  25. AlteredEgo Says:

Draft Drew Lock….let the best passer play !

  26. Tom Edrington Says:

No truth to the rumor that JBF Headquarters is located in Jameis’ guest house……

  27. Blake_Bucsfan Says:

    @AlteredEgo

You are as dumb as you seem. He had plenty of time? How many times a day do you clean your Crack pipe?

On 32 passing attempts, he was sacked 7 times, and hit an additional 13 more times. that’s 20 out of 32. In other words, thats 62.5%.

Yesterday, there was no time for him to throw. It was an all out Jailbreak. Not to mention, the kid was toughing it out through an ankle injury, and gave us a lead late in the 4th Qtr.

Please. Stop being a “fan” of this team. We don’t need you. Go hop on the Jaguars bangwagon.

  28. Season Is Over Says:

You left out the fact that Manning took his teams to the playoffs twice in the first three years after a 3-13 season. We remain in the gutter with zero hope. Minor details.

  29. AlteredEgo Says:

    Evans made Manziel
    Benjamin made Winston

  30. Blake_Bucsfan Says:

^Crack and Meth made AlteredEgo’s brain cells.

  31. BUCLUV55 Says:

    Canada,
All those guys you mentions may have come into the league later than Winston but they are all older than he is. He needs to mature, lose some of that erraticness as he gets older.

  32. Bradinator Says:

That “fumble”?! He was trying to throw it while being sacked…again!! It was a stupid, stupid move. He doesn’t learn. He’s the same guy he was when he was a rookie. He took dumb sacks, missed open receivers, couldn’t read the blitz. He does great things sometimes, but he also does things that boggle the mind and make you want throw things. Not saying get rid of him since the play calling is absolutely garbage, and the line is patchwork right now. He should not get a new contract if he doesn’t show some progress soon.

  33. Bob in Valrico Says:

Aside from Jameis coughing up the football,he needs to do better on the deep pass Evans. If Jameis leads Evans, then Evans doesn’t have to come back on the ball and gets pushed out bounds.Being just a little off is the difference between
a big play or an incomplete.
When Jameis escapes the pocket and the play breaks down,he needs to be more
decisive , Double pumps , slowing down to stiff arm an oncoming defensive
player only works in sandlots not the NFL. If you put your head down and run
you increase your chances of not getting caught from behind and wont’ throw the ball three yards past the line of scrimmage.

  34. AlteredEgo Says:

Jameis came out 2 years early because FSU didn’t want his drama show around another year…he had little choice

  35. tmaxcon Says:

Jameis will go down as the most important Buc of all time. not that there is any competition outside of the Leroy selmon.

no matter how much these ignorant crybabies piss and moan. It’s funny it’s the same self appointed character police pansys that continue to pound on jameis. it’s pretty funny considering they completely ignore another choke job by Captain Blowout cancer93 and his soft arse defense.

  36. Bculaw Says:

So much hate for this kid.

Jameis plays at an incredibly high level the majority of snaps. His significant weakness is that he tries to do too much under pressure and/or when trailing. Nearly all of his “bonehead” plays come under these circumstances, and the same is true of the vast majority of his INTs this year. In his mind, no play is ever dead and there’s always an opportunity to save a play that has otherwise blown up. If he can curb this mentality – you don’t want to coach it out of him completely (see the CHI game last year) – he will eliminate a huge number of concerns.

I tend to look at it this way, though: Jameis is a bit of a wild stallion and is the fastest horse in the stable by far. He needs to be broken to a certain degree so he can learn to trot and cantor. Any horse can learn to trot and cantor. You can’t teach speed, though.

  37. passthebuc Says:

There is a difference between a hater and someone that has taken off the rose-colored glasses.

  38. Getaclue Says:

He came out two years early cause he was the number 1 pick lol. His qb dating has increased every year including the current year

  39. Jolly Bucs Fan Says:

Minus the one mistake and you have a really good game by Jamies despite having no time whatsoever to throw.

Jeez do you guys wanna go back to Fitz-luckytoscore13points-patrick?

I do wonder if Koetter is the right coach for Jameis. Jameis wants koetter to get in his face and set him straight when needed. Jameis isnt learning and maybe its because Koetter is to passive to scream in his face, curse him out, or teach him a lesson of any kind.

  40. mark2001 Says:

Sure… the game hasn’t changed in 20 years. Let’s compare pre-1969 pitching statistics, and those after the mound was lowered.

Jameis does have the inherent talent to be an excellent franchise QB. The question is, will he develop into an excellent franchise QB. Is he better than Fitz? Sure. Is he better than Hundley? Yes. Is he in the same league as Brady or Rodgers? Not close. Sorry, but if Rodgers had played and had an average game yesterday, that game would have likely been a blowout.

  41. Viejo_Sombrero19 Says:

Americas Turnover Machine that is hilariously true at this point, all I can do is just sit back and laugh at the CHAOS that continues to surround this team, I Really am getting tired of JW, but I think the best plan is to get another QB who could be THE GUY either draft pick or FA and let Jameis go head to head QB vs QB make it a competition. Well I guess the competition wouldn’t be able to start possibly for the first 2 weeks or more due to PERSONAL CONDUCT SUSPENSION.

  42. BrianBucs Says:

With Jameis, you will always get a whole lot of good mixed in with a whole lot of bad. That’s just who he is and how he plays

  43. Max Says:

I respect passing stats much more before the mid 2000’s. The game got soft and it’s too easy to air it out.

  44. Cold_water Says:

They don’t understand Joe! They don’t get it!

They don’t remember these guys at all!!

Player TD INT Cmp % QBR
    Josh McCown 11 14 56.3 37.5
    Byron Leftwich 4 3 54.2 63.9
    Jeff Garcia 25 10 64.4 66.7
    Brian Griese 32 26 65.6 50.4*
    Chris Simms 12 17 59.1 **
    B. Gradkowski 9 10 54.0 36.7

But Winston?…..to these guys, Winston (60tds, 39ints, 60% comp. and 10k yards in less than 3 years) is a bust?!?!?!

Winston could heal their sick child and they call their kid a liar – “Fake news!- He wasn’t sick, he always look like that!”

  45. Sweep the leg Says:

So all these excuses for jameis.

So in order for him to succeed he must have the best o-line elite running back an all time great defense and elite players at every position.

    Ok got it.

  46. OAR Says:

Shouldn’t fumble so much ….after all the football is shaped like breasts on each end!

  47. FortMyersDave Says:

Joe a fairer comparison would be JW and Marcus Mariota: 38 games (has missed 6 to injury): 55 TDs, 31 picks 8600 yards but with 10 TDs and 12 picks this season which would lead our typical Tampa fan to scream regression at the top of their lungs if Winston had these stats as are some Titan fans…. Yet since the Titans have a soft schedule (Browns, Dolphins, Colts twice, Texans twice, Bengals) and are 8-4 but as the NFL is based on Ws and Ls, not stats, the Mariota critics can’t say squat as their team is in first place… Flip that 8-4 to 4-8 (poor coaching,a bad bounce or 2 in key games, a bad kick) and the coach is getting run and your starting qb is suddenly a liability, like our Buccos….. Mariota may become the next Blake Bortles (game manager, master of mediocrity) but he has kept his nose clean off of the field and his team has won more than they lost, something our Buccos have done twice since Chuckie got sent packing…. Right now the Bucs look more like the Bears, Browns and Giants than up and coming teams like the titans, rams, Jags, etc though last year one would call the rams Cleveland West and the Jags Cleveland/Chicago South. How quick things change in the NFL!

  48. AlteredEgo Says:

    @ Viejo BINGO !
” but I think the best plan is to get another QB who could be THE GUY either draft pick or FA and let Jameis go head to head QB vs QB make it a competition. “

  49. Bucsfanman Says:

No doubt that this game wasn’t lost SOLELY on that ONE play. That said, we need to stop making excuses for Jameis. He’s in year #3 and should be progressing AND maturing.
That was one of the dumbest plays I’ve ever seen, aside from the “butt throw” in preseason! What’s worse is that he almost did it again in the 4th quarter. Why is that worse? It means that he A.) Didn’t learn from the first mistake and B.) That is his tendency.
Through 3 years, this is what we’ve seen: He’s a good QB who makes poor decisions. In the end, this might just be who he will ALWAYS be.
It’s hard to be overly critical of the guy considering that he was under assault ALL game. That said, he HAS to start making better decisions.

  50. mark2001 Says:

And please Joe…I get the “America’s QB” is for Tampa fans in the bay area. But go say that in any other part of the country….any other NFL city but maybe Cleveland. And you know what they will say. Or laugh and say. He is the Buccaneers starting QB…I think that is enough for most of us, as long as he continues to develop.

  51. D-Rome Says:

Football was played very differently 20 years ago. I’m not suggesting the team look in a different direction at QB but yesterday was the first time it gave me pause and had me wondering if he truly is a franchise QB. Franchise QBs get better as their careers progress. Jameis is *still* doing the same stupid things he’s done since his first game.

If Jameis doesn’t force a stupid throw into a pick-six we would all be singing a different tune about the Bucs defense. Take those seven points off the board from the pick-six and extra point and at best the Packers only put up 19 points. Yesterday’s loss in on Jameis first before anyone else. The franchise QB can’t do things like that.

  52. Nate Says:

Not a jameis hater” HOWEVER…..IM A FAN of quarterbacks who don’t stare down recievers after 3 years and one’s that keep making mindless mistakes

You know …..no other qb has played baseball heavy coming out of college….I wonder why

I really think why jameis likes TE go’s so much is because that’s his pitch down the middle

But ask him for any other throws but a fastball he struggles

ITS TIME ALL YOU FSU FAN BOYS JUST START ACKNOWLEDGING THAT …..INSTEAD OF GIVING HIM THE MVP FOR 2 TDS AGAINST THE PACKERS

THEY ARE TERRIBLE ON DEFENSE WITH ROGERS

  53. passthebuc Says:

I think everyone realizes that with a running back and an above average OL, and a D that can get off the field, Jameis would look better.
However the fact will always remain that he is not accurate, he does not read the D, he stares down receivers and makes bad decisions.

hype a guy as much as you hyped him, and be sensitive to the criticisms, does not make sense.

You made him out to be god and so far he is charles manson.

  54. C eh N eh D eh Says:

There are a ton of QBs out there that would drool having djax, evans, brate, howard and godwin as targets…take the blinders off people…he’s not accurate, smart or a leader of any sort…face the truth!!!

  55. Viejo_Sombrero19 Says:

    @ Altered THANKS BRAH.
And yeah Joes like fr fr brah Americas QB hasn’t ever been true. It at like any point even when Jameis was leading us to the brink of victory over the Cowboys tossing up a prayer to humphries for the TD. Even then he wasn’t no AMERICAS BS BLAH BLH so now it just looks way extra dog

  56. MadMax Says:

Well golly gee! I hate stats, but since they’re getting used….

    JW#3 first 3 years 40+ yard completions
    2015 – 9
    2016 – 4
2017 – 2 (year isnt done and he missed some games but we have more weapons for JW now)

Manning first 3 years 40+ yard completions
    1998 – 8
    1999 – 11
    2000 – 8

Theres other stats but I dont have the time. They can be looked up. My stat is the eye test and JW#3 is clearly regressing. Why? I dont know. Blame the coaches, blame his O line, or blame him….whatever.

  57. mark2001 Says:

Brian…a whole lot of good and a whole lot of bad isn’t good enough. That is a wash….he needs to get to a whole lot of good and occasionally…rarely…a bad, if he wants to be a starting QB in this league.

  58. Viejo_Sombrero19 Says:

Just to be fair The 2nd quarter sideline window throw to DJAX was. Ice and I have seen him hit that throw good but everybody sees how saaaad his deep ball is. I mean forget Americas whatever, I think the actor from FRIDAY NIGHT LIGHTS would have connected by now with DJAX over the top for 6

  59. MadMax Says:

And I second Altered and Bird’s comments.

  60. C eh N eh D eh Says:

@Nate…bravo Nate, exactly…he’s a fastball pitcher, no god damn touch on anything…

  61. SteelStudBuc Says:

Well… he’s not gonna get 1 QB pay that’s for sure

  62. MadMax Says:

    and Viejo

  63. mike n Says:

Peyton was in the middle of his 2nd 13-3 season… When you lose, the qb and the coach take a lion share of the blame. Thats how its always been. Theres not a more sensitive bunch than the Jameis backers.

  64. Nate Says:

OK THE BEST QB WE EVER HAD ARGUMENT” ….THATS A WEAK MINDED ANALOGY EVEN IF IT IS FACT

NAH STEVE YOUNG/DOUG WILLIAMS WAS THE BEST QB WE EVER HAD W/ BRAD A CLOSE 3

JAMEIS HAS 3YRS AND A WA BETTER TEAM….ITS FUNNY ARRON RODGERS AND OTHERS PLAY WITH INCONSISTENT LINES ALL THE TIME

    NO EXCUSES

  65. MadMax Says:

    @OAR
“Shouldn’t fumble so much ….after all the football is shaped like breasts on each end!”

Now thats the laugh of the day right there HAHAHAHAHA!

  66. Viejo_Sombrero19 Says:

Jamie Foxx and the dude from Varsity Blues just hit DJAX for a bomb.

  67. tmaxcon Says:

Jameis is the greatest thing that has happened to the buccaneer franchise since the firing of the one dimensional career playoff losing fool tony dungy

  68. HooliganSixx Says:

    4-8.

  69. Bucsfanman Says:

Heck, we use the same playbook from Varsity Blues!!!!

  70. Viejo_Sombrero19 Says:

Oh yeah I knew that sooner or later TAMPONMAX was gonna show up for breakfast you just eat Troll. Everything that you type into that little comment box is like Einstein rolling in his grave because the words are so USELESS that it bends the space time continuum and we as a humanity can never get those precious seconds back. Even the Internet hates you TAMPONMAX

  71. lightningbuc Says:

While we’re at it, Jaboo and Manning are also both alleged sexual assaulters.

  72. Viejo_Sombrero19 Says:

TMAX the only EXCLUSIVE purpose you serve on this site is to Bash GERALD, stick to your bread and butter, that and hanging with Kobe Faker outside the Plasma center to donate

  73. mark2001 Says:

I think many are overreacting both directions. Jameis can be a good starting franchise QB for that. He has the talent if he will just be consistent with his mechanics and improve in reading the field and making the right throw. I believe that. Honestly. Now will he be in the top Five or Ten QB’s in the league? Don’t know. But he won’t be a bust unless he stops developing.

But to label him the next coming of Brady, Rodgers, Manning, Elway, Aikman? I don’t think so…at least I’m not seeing it so far.

  74. Mike Johnson Says:

Mobody hates jameis. I mean no 1 draft pick right? But we are not seeing that level of improvement yearly he need to make. And those stupid careless decisions with the ball. Its like he never overcame that backyard playground mentality. He has what it takes. How long its gonna take him is anybody’s guess. His maturity as a QB leaves a lot to be desired. One things for sure though, He’ss sponged Koetter for all he’s gonna get from him. Time to bring in another offensive Guru.

  75. BobbyBucs Says:

    @lightningbuc lmao A+

  76. mark2001 Says:

I hope so Mike…but in times of stress and pressure, many revert back to what they are at a gut level. And if Jameis doesn’t learn how to overcome that, he may never develop. Did you hear that Koetter said he had to “calm Jameis” down during Half Time yesterday? That is the kind of thing I’m talking about. If someone has to “calm him down” during a game like that, you do have to wonder if he will mature sufficiently to avoid his heart overruling his head. I hope he can.

  77. Joe Says:

Jameis reminds me of Jeff George (for those who remember)

    Yes, agree.

  78. BucTrooper Says:

I’ve posted this before: I once saw an interview with Drew Brees where he said that the game started to slow down and he started to come into his own after about 50 games in the NFL. If you remember, Brees when he was a Charger was a little up and down… good game then a bad game. It was at the 50 game mark where the improvement started. Assuming JW missed NO games 3 full seasons would be 48 games.

    JW is NOT Freeman.

  79. THETRUTH Says:

Typical Buc fans run people out of town and then cry when they do better elsewhere or complain why we have no one at that position

1- no online , if you think we have one (6 sacks yesterday, I lost count ) your and idiot and don’t k ow the game
2- no running back all year , till yesterday got something
3- play calling terrible (got worse this year instead of better)
4- play design terrible ( all routes long , no 3 step Drops) joe can you have weapons and not use (djax, Mike , Howard )
Yes not Jamies best performance this year but dude has been running for life.
D-smith averages one major penalty a game neglecting a good gain usually

    2 bad snaps yesterday.

  80. Wausa Says:

    Joe:

Unfortunately we have a lot of idiotic fans.

Teams needing a QB would trade their next two entire drafts to get Jamies.

Jamies is on his way to being an elite QB in the NFL.

  81. C eh N eh D eh Says:

Oh great, we have the next Jeff George! LOLOLOL

  82. Bucsfanman Says:

@Wausa- I have to disagree. Until Jameis proves otherwise, he IS who he IS.
Right now, he is NOT an elite player nor is he progressing in that direction, at the moment.
He needs to progress exponentially to become elite. Right now, he’s a young Jay Cutler, only without the Ws.

  83. Conte Piscateli Says:

I totally don’t get the Jeff George comparison. Jeff here had no fight, no passion but an unreal arm. That’s Jay Cutler to me. The best comparison I have for Jameis right now is Trent Dilfer, good arm talent but erratic with accuracy, had issues with trying to do too much and making bone headed plays. I am still haunted by image of Dilfer hopping on one leg on the sideline throwing a ball up for grabs against I believe the Packers. Tell me you can’t picture that being Jameis?

  84. Viejo_Sombrero19 Says:

Number overall picks can’t be average or slightly above average or mmmm wellll hhhhmmm yeah maybe….. NO IM SORRY GTFOH! As a rational thinker, I’m willing to give this guy like 12 or 14 more games and at that point there’s no more (In kindergarten teacher voice with old lady high pitched voice) “HE’s STILL DE-VEh-Wa-ping”

  87. tnew Says:

I promise, if Fitz would have played the exact same game, most of you would be singing his praises of heroism. Its disturbing.

Here is the absolute truth. Winston executed a perfect first drive. Couldn’t have been any better.

Early in the game he got away with a couple… as in two…. really bad throws, one of which should’ve been picked. The other was a throw away into a dangerous area.

The fumble return was ridiculously poor from Winston as well as most of the Offensive Line. Sweezy blocked no one on the play, he was nice enough to let Evan Smith block two, but he missed both. Benenoch cleaned up the play with a strip sack on his QB, while just standing around. If he would’ve simply been blocking his man, the ball is an incomplete pass. The worst aspect from Winston is the game situation. Driving, inside field goal range, first and 10. Barber, looked to be getting stronger and had been getting plus yards on first down to expand the playbook. I think when you look at the all 22, Howard will be breaking open late. I think this will also reveal a play that had 0 quick routes. So…. this is a total failure. From play call, play design, execution from O-line, then exacerbated by a dumb QB play.

After this play, he rebounds very nicely. Executes a drive at the end of the half that leads to a field goal.

Completes a very good pass after a great pump fake to Humphries inside the 3. With the running game, so effective. We run once, inside the 5 and end up with a field goal. All receivers are covered on 2nd down, he forces a ball that must be broken up by the defenders, this should’ve been a run. Then on 3rd, Smith misses the snap count (according to Koetter) and Winston who technically fumbled, does his best to recover the bad snap.

Has a TD that get the team back in the lead late. The haters need to check the drive chart here.

    15 yard Winston run
21 yard pass (overcoming false start penalty)
    17 yard pass
    10 yard pass (on 3rd and 9)
16 yard pass (after holding on Evan Smith)
Recovers fumble.. Barber slips and runs into Winston while attempting hand off. Winston should’ve aborted this play when Barber slipped, but he did out fight the defender for the ball (anyone notice how much slipping happened with the players wearing their custom shoes?)
Illegal forward pass, he doesn’t get to the end zone there, the defensive back has the angle but he could’ve gotten it down inside the three.
11 yard touchdown to Brate. Played a nice two man game and you can say I’m an apologist, that was a perfect play.

That sequence above is why you try to build with Winston.

On the last drive, after the penalty by Smith (if you really want a guy to point a finger at, Evan Smith had a horrid game but I feel bad as he was in no way thinking center at the start of the game). First off, I like the draw play by Koetter. First and 20, if he pops it for ten it resets the game situation. But if not, you just run on second and 17 as well. But, he didn’t. All of the routes appear to be verticals with the exception of the late releasing Howard. Watch Benenoch here and tell me if he has a future in the NFL. I had hopes for Benenoch, but he can’t be on the team next year. Winston gets loose with the ball again and this was bad, but does eat it which is good.

    Ball game.

“Jameis will go down as the most important Buc of all time. not that there is any competition outside of the Leroy selmon.” I guess you forgot about Doug Williams . 100 times the character and a better quarterback . I saw Doug throw a touchdown sitting down after he slipped and fell.

  89. Dusthty Rhothdes Says:

im starting to fall of the jameis train how can he not make a deep pass to anyone and why does he throw the ball falling down and the bucs do not win

  90. James Craig Marlow Says:

So you are saying JW is a Hall of Famer and the Bucs will win 2 superbowls?

  91. Lord Cornelius Says:

    @tnew

Exactly. I saw the same thing you did. 2 bad passes that he got away with and 1 fumble. Other than that he was pretty damn good considering the lack of pass protection.

What’s weird is on the way to work today Denver radio guys were talking as if Jay Cutler played pretty well because he had 200+ yards and a couple TDs (along with a couple interceptions though). Jameis had 0 interceptions – with just the 1 turnover; and pushed for close to 300 yards passing on 31 attempts with 2 TDs and a clutch late drive – and fans on here are acting like he’s a bum. Hell the media narrative is acting like he lost the game and he had a top 7 QB rating this week lol. It’s F*cking ridiculous.

  94. SOEbuc Says:

Jameis haters are all your classic Bucs fans. They thought he was God at the beginning of the season and now, not even through the entire season, he’s Satan.

    1. Jameis has been banged up or severely injured almost the entire year.
    2. He’s thrown for 4,000+ yards since his rookie year.
    3. Usually when you see franchise QB’s, you see franchise O-Line’s, which is something not standing in front of him.
    4. This is not the correct coaching staff for him or the rest of our team. Koetter is obviously too soft and not putting the right pieces in the right place for Jameis and the rest of the offense. This is why I wouldn’t hate to see Gruden come back. He is a hard-nose “true” offensive and QB’s coach that would whoop his a$$ into shape.

If we can find a coaching staff that can teach these young guys how to play, and then Jameis is still in this situation, I will certainly join the DIE JAMEIS DIE mob along with all these others.

JOE OPEN YOUR EYES!! Winston is horrible, all his stats come in Garbage time and whenever we need him in a close game he comes up short. Let’s not forget he’s a turnover machine with no awareness on or off the field. I loved the pick and was very optimistic about him coming into the season but he’s regressed too much. It’s over.

    Peyton Manning’s first 40 games: 10,312 pass yds, 70 TDs, 52 INTs

By the way, Jameis is also a year YOUNGER than Peyton Manning was at the time he completed his first 40 games … AND Peyton had two extra years of NCAA experience as well.

Barring serious injury, when all is said and done I have little doubt Jameis will be the NFL’s ALL-TIME leader in passing yards & TDs … and yet people will still hate him as he’s a polarizing figure … the new 2Pac/Kobe Bryant/Mike Tyson/Barry Bonds/

  98. Blake_Bucsfan Says:

Tnew, once again you’re pretty much exactly right. These haters and closet racists make me almost as embarrassed to be a Bucs fan as the teams own abysmal overall performance this season.

Why can’t these idiots just admit that they know nothing and go back under their rock?

  99. SOEbuc Says:

Gruden HC, Rex Ryan DC, and Licht GM. If Jameis still looks the same as he is now with that crew, then flush him down a toilet in the southern hemisphere (haha, which by the way that myth of the rotation going backwards is not true, but it is still a toilet that leads to a sewage system.)

  100. Bucsfanman Says:

This reminds me of a discourse of a different type. People are labeled either “Pro-Jameis” or “Jameis Haters”!
The bottom line is simply this: Who is Jameis Winston RIGHT NOW? He is who he is people. He’s a decent QB who’s prone to bone-head decisions. Until he proves differently, that’s who he is. It doesn’t matter how old he is or how many passing yards he’s thrown for. He’s a guaranteed turnover-a-game QB on a BAAAAAD football team.
Bone-head decisions have nothing to do with o-line play, rushing yards or defense so spare me the excuses. We need to accept that he is who he is until he proves differently.
No, Jameis did not lose us that game yesterday. But, that play didn’t exactly help either!

  101. MadMax Says:

No hate for JW#3 from me JW#3 defenders….if we can bring someone in to learn behind him (a 2nd or 3rd rounder, probably 3rd) im all for keeping him going. Lets see what happens. Its not that hard to figure out.

With the off field issues and this season, where am I wrong in wanting to draft (or sign) another QB for competition. Hell even bringing in Cousins would probably light a fire under his a$$….do that, let it play out and may the best player win the job.

I guess laying out the passing stats of a QB in a game in which we're talking about his QB performance is cherry picking lol? How does that make any sense?

If anything – picking 1 turnover play out of 31 pass plays to say he played a bad game is cherry picking.

Throw out stats and the bottom line is he and the offense moved the ball down the field all game and he threw 2 scores to 1 costly turnover; while putting the team ahead at the end of the game to win it if the defense holds.

That = a story line of a solid QB performance for all other 31 teams – but here in Tampa Jameis lost us the game apparently.

    Give me a F*cking break.

  103. DB55 Says:

I just like to take a moment to thank to Caleb Bennoch for losing the game and punch in the ball out of Jameis’s hand thank you buddy

50 excuses FOR; 50 excuses against!

  106. Matts17 Says:

Criticism doesn’t equal hate. Good grief. JW was a turnover machine in college and still is in the pros. His poor play outweighs his strong moments. Until / if he becomes consistent the criticism is rightfully deserved. By the way, saying he’s the best QB this team has ever had isn’t exactly a ringing endorsement.

  107. MadMax Says:

haters lovers and some in between DB, oh, and personal attacks against fandom of anyone who is questioning JW’s skills and ability….is what it is lol

  108. ndog Says:

I love all the “you just got take the sack” folks out there that have no idea what they are talking about. So you want him to just take a sack every time someone touches him and play scared to death hes going to turn the ball over?!?!?! Well guess what do you remember that great run he had against Atlanta a few years back, that would have been a sack, do you remember that play against the Bears last year, that would have been a sack, do you remember that play against the Eagles a few years ago when he threw it to Simms for a TD, that would have been a sack. So now ask yourself how many sacks would we have given up yesterday if he did want you all want him to do? What maybe 10 and he probably would have gotten hurt more as well. Things happen, in fact I saw the great one Weintz last night make several plays last night that were just as risky and in fact he fumbled at the 1 inch line to cost them the game. So I guess he is horrible to. You people want a robot or the truth is the people hating today have always hated him and they just wait for any moment to pop up and hate. You people are really sad as he is the QB on “your team”.

How many turnovers—int’s and fumbles—did Manning have?

  114. ndog Says:

Cobraboy so a 23 player in the NFL has hit his ceiling? Tell that to Kurt Warner, Warren Moon, Tom Brady, Tony Romo, Randall Cunningham, etc… Dude if you cant make more educated comments than that don’t post as you are just embarrassing yourself.

  115. RustyRhinos Says:

“I am still waiting for it to happen” Will it be season 4 season 5? Possibly sometime into his second contract that will hamper any and all of our options looking for talent on both sides of the ball, when 1 player makes 100+ million in a contract it sure makes it difficult to surround him with players on both sides of the ball who can play. When will the Messiah show up and bring us to glory-land? Will he ever learn to look off DB’s? Or throw accurately to his receivers in a tight window and hit them in stride? Even if they are wide open? It is not my money paying him this new contract but if he were to not improve in his 4th season or 5th season no more than what he did in his first season, why again do we want to offer him another contract? Belief in his abilities and skills and watching his actual abilities and skills in a game context are two different things.

    Go Bucs!

  116. Brandon Says:

Here’s the thing about stats. They don’t hold up over history. They really don’t. Passing numbers have gotten better and better over the years. Back in 1990, it was a huge deal to throw for 4000 yards… now? Not at all. Passer ratings were considered good when a guy had a rating of over 85… now? it’s about 95 that is considered good. You can’t compare Winston’s numbers against anybody other than people that have entered the league with him or right before or after him. Think about it, before 83, there were three passers that had ever thrown for 4000 yards, in 83 alone there were something like FOUR. Before 84 there had been one guy catch 100 balls in a season, now there’s teams that have more than one player do it (actually don’t know this to be true, just a guess). The significance of stats change over history and can’t be compared to anything us but other statistics from the same time period.

  117. Cobraboy Says:

@ Brandon: you make excellent points about comparing players from different eras.

Look at kickers. At one time 60% FG’s were the standard. If you were 65%, you were superior. Now if you drop below 85%.

  118. Rod Munch Says:

  120. Jbooth Says:

Jameis has to be more responsible with the football. His talent is immeasurable but unless he can cut down on the bone head turnovers, he’ll never be successful. You have to be as successful as Favre to turn the ball over like him.

  121. Rob Says:

Okay, forgetting the fact that a goodly amount of his stats are garbage time gains… it’s a compelling argument.

    Except…

Peyton Manning is widely believed to be one of the smartest players to have ever played the position. A coach on the field, if you will. That’s a huge difference between the two Joe. Huge. Jamies is Freeman 2.0. A physical specimen with that “x” factor, but a headcase of questionable intelligence with and aptitude for failing n too progress

  122. 813bucboi Says:

You are correct in you can’t fix stupid and I am not talking about Jameis either! I understand this fanbase is use to losing! But you hate every player on your roster and fawn and make excuses for other teams. TRUST ME IT’S NOT JUST THE CULTURE IN THE LOCKER ROOM!

I know this maybe difficult for you throw the baby out with the bath water fans. But you have a pretty good young (all in) QB, who has actually been playing in the NFL and is just now turning the age most would have just been leaving college. Therefore we are on the upside. He is the age of a rookie but has 3 seasons of NFL experience under his belt. Unlike the other elite QBs you like to compare him with, I would like to argue, he has all the upside, he just needs the right developing coach going forward to help him improve. (You blame him for being the first overall pick and winning the starting position) How long did Glennon sit before he came. How long did he sit behind him after actually playing before…wow… so what happen to Glennon?

The fail is he is playing the way he is being coached! He came here young and needing to be coached up…give me a freakin break! He is suppose to stand in the pocket and get clobbered with no protection!

The investment in JW has been in real-time not from a far…so we are ahead in his maturation regardless of what you may THINK! The investment has been made and the time has been spent!

So you would be willing to give him to another team and go through the learning and maturation process with a new inexperienced rookie.

I guess the human ATM can do no wrong and continue to hand out early Christmas presents to any nearby defenders. He is not the answer and he is not a good guy either. Go Bucs!

  126. Rob Says:

Mike Smith and his legendary horrific defense has to go. New kind of sucking and choke masters. Shamefully inept. Smith should be fired already

  127. RealityCheck Says:

Yea I remember all of those times that Peyton tried to throw the ball up in the air while getting sacked 10 yards behind the line of scrimmage after his first read wasn’t open. O wait, that’s Jameis literally every single game. He’s not as smart or mature as Peyton and any comparison is nonsense.

  128. Cops4Bucs Says:

Comparing Winston to Manning is laughable. I give it 4 Pinocchios on the JBF delusional chart. Lee can try and spin Winston’s bad performance any way they want but the fans are not stupid and see how Winston is playing poorly. They see what is going on during the game on Sunday. You can put as much lipstick on the pig as you want but its still gonna be a pig.

Winston’s play on Sunday was one word “awful”. He pretty much lost the game himself by taking unneeded risks with the football. I am also confident that his backup would have won the game.

I am still on the wagon for Winston but next year will be it. I do believe in giving a player that is a top 5 pick each and every chance to PROVE he has the skills and mental ability to succeed in the NFL. The clock is ticking MR. Winston and time is running short. Tick-tock. The criticism is only going to get worse unless you start to display the reasons why you were picked #1 overall.

  129. Bucsfanman Says:

@DB55- Well, it depends. If you’re 31 other teams, you protect the lead. If you’re the Bucs, you flip the switch on the “we are open” sign!!!
You just knew, KNEW that if it went into OT that the Bucs would give up the booty. Even the announcer said, “If I’m the Bucs, I go all in in defending the run.”
How’d they beat us?! Well, we’re the Bucs! Go figure!

  130. ben Says:

joe.. why has Jameis NEVER been rated higher the M.M. with the nfl qb rating ? U say he is all that but it seems like the nfl does not see it your way. He is listed towards the bottom ,right …..M.M. is 13th and Jamis is 27th …NOT even close -don’t think the nfl agrees with u?

  131. Pickgrin Says:

Winston played quite well overall yesterday – especially considering the level of duress he was pretty constantly under from GB pass rushers.

Hard for me to imagine anyone saw his performance differently…

He did try to do too much on 2 plays (fumble and throwing way past the los) but those plays were certainly not why we lost.

Winston did his job in the clutch – getting his team the lead late in the 4th Quarter. Defense gave up the long drive for a FG to tie and then looked pathetic in OT trying to stop a 1 dimensional offense that quite simply ran it down our throats to finish us off.

Jameis would likely have driven us down for a winning field goal at the end of regulation but that nice throw, catch and run by Sims to near mid field with just under 2 minutes left…. was negated by Evan Smith’s horribly timed penalty which then put the Bucs in a huge hole at the 10 yard line and having to protect against giving the ball back to GB with time left and timeouts unused.

    It is what it is.

The core is in place. The Bucs have a lot of key pieces to this (10 years of “re-building”) puzzle in place now. And that starts with our QB – Jameis Winston.

Comments like – “I’m done with Winston” or “It’s time to move on from Winston” are laughable.

This is your Quarterback. If you are a fan of the Buccaneers – he’s your Quarterback. Jameis Winston is not going anywhere. Not for at least 10 years – maybe 15.

Like it or not – he’s your guy. The QB you have to root for if you want to see your team succeed.

Winston has shown a TON of promise in his first 40 NFL games and will continue to work hard on those aspects of his game that need improvement. He’s got the talent along with the heart, desire, will and work ethic to be an elite level QB sooner than later.

At 23 years old – he’s the best QB this franchise has ever had. Winston is a fiery competitor – a natural born leader – and has put more “wow” plays on tape in 2 1/2 years than the previous 10 years of Bucs QBs combined.

4-8 Sucks balls when the ‘vibe’ coming into this season was that the Bucs were legit contenders.

Jameis Winston feels the sickening pain of each of those 8 losses a lot more than anyone posting here does – that’s for sure. All the young man can do about it is work hard to improve each and every day and work towards better results. This he does and this he will continue to do.

Licht needs to find us a couple real pass rushers and a couple Oline upgrades along with a RB and a good young CB. Accomplish that and this team is in pretty good shape moving forward.

    Stay the course Glazers.

Fire Smitty if you need a scapegoat for this crappy season but stay the course with GM Licht, HC Koetter and Jameis Winston as your QB of the present and future. Great rewards will come if “patience” wins the decisions to come at the end of this year.

I’m a BIG-TIME fan of Jameis Winston. I think he has the goods to be great. I follow him regularly. As a DIE-HARD fan of the Steelers, I couldn’t care less if he stays with Tampa Bay, either by being cut or through free agency. Here’s where I’m at with this: will he wind up being great? No idea. But to throw in the towel on a guy who won’t take a snap as a 24-year old until next season is utter ludicrous, IMHO. This idea that he cannot, or will not, be as good as Wentz, Goff, Wilson, or any of these other young quarterbacks is WAY too premature. We have seen good quarterbacks not sustain the great play they

(From the previous message)…enjoyed during a previous period of time (i.e. one or two seasons). So, let’s not start carving busts for those guys, and think that Winston won’t have one himself. Give it a little time; it’s as if people here think this guy is in the midst of his second contract, which, by the way, he still won’t be in his prime when he signs it…whether it be in TB or elsewhere. You can cast him off…cool…but please don’t think that you’ll surely find someone better OR watch as he has his best years in another uniform. And if you think it’s a given that he’ll be a flop, well…i won’t say that you don’t know what you’re talking about. I’ll just say you’re being TERRIBLY impatient. And believe you me, if it comes to pass that he does meet those lofty expectations, I’ll surely be in the number of those who say, ‘I told you so’. One more thing: Manning’s number of TDs we’re higher, but then so we’re his INTs, right? Well, if he has such a great record, with that many turnovers, stands to reason that some other element of the team had to be stellar, wouldn’t you say? IJS

Pick much respect but HUH??? We lost by 6 points in OT; that game doesnt go to OT if Winston doesn’t fumble for TD. The fumble cost us 7!! Dont put lipstick on that pig. Winston cost us the game or was a major contributor to the loss.

I will give you this in that first drive Winston looked great (I thought Rodgers took the field for Bucs) and hey we got a TD in First Q. He looked good and bad the rest of the way. I could tell that 1Q TD helped lift the team a bit as its so rare. There were 2 INTs not caught and he took at least 2 sacks that could have been incomplete passes if he had better internal timer on pass rush. He stands in pocket way too long with no sense of what is going on around him.

@ ndog: because a handfull of guy did well as they got older does NOT mean Winston will.

There are plenty of guys who had 1-2 great seasons early on then crashed and burned.

There are few QB’s in the NFL today who have made more dumb errors, fumbles, throwing into double & triple coverage…sometimes across his body.

While Winston has some decent physical skills, he often plays like an idiot. He may lead the NFL in “idiot.”

He seems like he never learns. How many times does he have to be told “protect the football at all costs”…then have him pull that fumble or some other moronic move?

Go ahead, hang from his jock. But until the guy starts showing some smarts, I’ll be critical.

“that game doesnt go to OT if Winston doesn’t fumble for TD”

The fumble/TD was in the 1st half. Winston overcame that mistake and then some later in the game by leading his offense to a TD late in the 4th Quarter to take the lead.

What happens in crunch time (4th Quarter) is where a lot of NFL games are won and lost.

The game doesn’t go to OT if the Defense had stopped the anemic Packers offense instead of letting them drive the length of the field for a tying FG.

The game doesn’t go to OT if Evan Smith didn’t hold or trip or whatever with less than 2 minutes in the game. Bucs had the ball close to mid field and would likely have driven another 20-25 yards for the winning FG with no time left if Smith doesn’t commit that penalty at the worst time possible.

Winston’s fumble was a mistake for sure – but that’s hardly what cost us the game.

Viejo Sombrero19 you should hang out side Home Depot with some hombres looking for work. Maybe you’re an illegal poster here.

Look at the replay on the fumble. The lineman was just standing there knocked the ball out of his hand. You clowns keep crying about he should take the sack you might as well go root for another team because he’s too much of a competitor to give up on a play. That I’m sure will change as he matures. The thing you clowns refuse to even mention is the blocked punt and the way the defense was giving up the booty like you would in cell block c. If it wasn’t for them he wouldn’t feel the need to take so many chances.

To say he has no pocket presence get out of here with that! How many times we’ve seen him run away from pressure or escape a sure sack? You all forget about the Eagles game he was damn near perfect, the 19 yard scramble on 3rd & 18 where he

Uh Nate I hate to break it to you but Elway was a baseball player too and he turned out decent in the NFL! SMDH!

refused to go down or the Chicago game sheer he scrambled then hit a bomb to Evans. Sure just a few examples but it’s his heart. He wants to win at all costs even for lost fans like you. So get used to seeing him around longer because he’s not going anywhere for a while. So why don’t you mamby pamby boys go root for another team save us real fans the irritation of hemorrhoids

    7+ sacks.

Brett Favre had 64 turnovers (INTs and fumbles) in his first three years with the Packers. Give Jameis time and learn to live with it as did Packer fans with Favre.

  151. LongSeason Says:

Peyton straightened himself out. Jameis has not. Peyton didn’t make stupid mistakes or throws. Jameis still does. Yards is not the true measure of a QB. Wins are what counts most. Jameis is the most inconsistent QB the Bucs have have. This inconsistency leads to losses. He also needs to stay away from women. Whether he is guilty or not, the dude has a big X and a big Target on his back for those who want to accuse him of sexual misconduct. In this day and age that can end up meaning constant suspension even if he is innocent. Does he do any good suspended? Well maybe he won’t hurt the team anymore.
