Soft Up The Gut

November 5th, 2017

The belly of the Buccaneers defense today reminded Joe a lot of his gut when it’s not filled with beer or Abe’s Place wings.

The Saints’ top running backs, Mark Ingram and Alvin Kamara, combined for 26 carries for 145 yards. That’s a whoopin’. Keep in mind the Bucs came into this game with a big focus on stopping the run.

Lots of players will tell you run defense is a mindset, a commitment, a pure will.

Man, the Bucs are so darn soft in the trenches this season. Joe is flabbergasted.

Sad thing is, Joe’s never seen a midseason fix for soft.

Perhaps guys could get benched and there could be a playing-time shakeup, but that only works when there’s desire behind poor play.

Joe can’t say what the team mindset is right now. Surely, some players are thinking about January beach weekends in the Dominican Republic right now.

Joe is certain lots of fans are thinking about St. Pete Beach weekends next Sunday, when the Bucs try to stop Josh McCown and a fighting, hungry Jets team.

We also missed many tackles….our LBs missed all day long.

Maybe “Winning” coach Dirk Koetter will fix this soon!!!

    Or, perhaps Tmax will…..

  2. tmaxcon Says:

get rid of captain blowout cancer93 and you get rid of soft. very simple

  3. Q Says:

The picture above is the defensive leader and captain….what a joke

  4. JimmyJack Says:

We are just soft everywhere……..This coaching staff doesn’t have a clue how to fix it.

Problems are getting more and more. Nothing’s getting fixed. We are not even competitive anymore.

Something got effed up in a really bad way and this franchise just looks clueless. Times like these really test a fan bases soul…….What a f***ing disgrace. Nobody deserves anything in this world but….WTF…….Somebody please tell me why I’m a fan again.

Glazers are laughing their asses off. Stadium funded completely by Hillsborough county taxpayers for decades while they collect the profits from every event held at Raymond James Stadium (Yes even non football games and CFB events)

  6. Joeypoppems Says:

There is no fix. After what seems like will be a 4-12 season the Glazers will clean house. Coaches will be fired, Licht wont be resigned, players will be cut or traded.

Next year we will be starting from scratch with a new regime and nobody will be safe, nor should they be.

  7. Lamarcus Says:

    Gmc is garbage

  8. Roy T. Buford Says:

There are those games that break your heart. There are those games that sting. Then there are those games you don’t feel anything about anymore. Today was that game. I was actually laughing…not sarcastically, but for real, when I saw some of the plays today. And we have four home games left. Ouch.

  9. JimmyJack Says:

We look like a dam expansion team………We can’t block and we don’t know who to block……….My brain is telling me to just give up as a fan. But my stupid ass heart won’t freaking let me.

I won’t be blame anybody who decides that Tampa Bay is not a good city to call home any more.

i hate the glazers but your shortsighted BS post conveniently left out that the stadium deal was a win for the county and city also… tell the entire story next time not just your baseless opinion that fits your flawed agenda.

“There are those games that break your heart. There are those games that sting. Then there are those games you don’t feel anything about anymore. Today was that game. I was actually laughing…not sarcastically, but for real”

This post is right on the money.

Joeypoppems, where do you get 4-12? I do not see a single team out there these guys can beat now. I don’t see a team they want to beat. I am wondering how many Bucs suddenly are sidelined with sprains as they contemplate what they will do for the rest of the year. I see backup players yearning to get in and just maybe, earn a spot…like when Ayers, Grimes, Baker, McDonald, DJax, DSmith, Dotson, Fitzpatrick and others are gone next year. Thank God we found a kicker (hey, we said that about Brinsa and Folk). Now let’s put Ryan Griffin in and let him get 4-5 games of practice so he can be a true backup QB…or not. And we may be looking for new coach. The only thing that will save him is Winston. And Jameis doesn’t look to have developed. He’s hit a plateau, no doubt. Same mistakes as last year. Has he peaked? One more year will tell, maybe two.

Welcome back music fans. KC’s hits from the 60’s … Up next on the turntable? Ray Charles and…”Its cryin time again” Honey can I get a fresh Hanky?

  14. JimmyJack Says:

I no longer feel sorry for Cleveland Browns fans……..When you have hope it’s worse.

I never thought I would say this but being a Tampa fan was better during the Dominick era……Back then I knew this team didn’t know what they were doing so I really didn’t care if they lost. Not that I didn’t care it was just expected.

Thanks for bringing me back to those year you pile of idiots. I no longer care if we lose…….no reason to spare hope for a team that can’t play at the same level as their competition.

I’m not even sure I care if they fire anybody about this……I really don’t need to go through this anymore……..Just give me a hopeless team anymore so I can not care and won’t have to waste my money at Ray Jay.

  15. Chris in WA Says:

The Stadium deal was NOT a win unless you count a bribe for Malcom Glazer to not move the team to another market back in the 90’s as a win. 100% taxpayer funded and still so until 2026.

  16. ndog Says:

Why oh why does this site have a article about each and every player getting called out by name but for some reason it is impossible to get McCoy called out directly. I was thinking when I saw this picture that finally that article had come but nope just a article about the overall crap on the dline. By the way did you see on that deep shot to Ted Ginn McCoy was getting blocked one on one? Yes sir and not a sniff of the QB, but thats ok its always someones else fault. Jameis called out, Evans called out, Martin called out, Ayers called out, Hargraves called out, Conte called out, M. Smith called out, Koetter called out, Licht called out, Spence called out, Gholsdon called out, Sims called out, DJax called out, Brate called out, but man dont dare you ever call out McCoy!

  17. shooter Says:

we will not lose again..mark my words.. and bet

  18. DoNUTS Says:

Ray Jay was good for the citizens of this city and county? WTF are u smoking tmax. Finance was not your major. Glazers bribed the city/county into the golden stadium parachute.

I hate saying this but if #93 needs to go then so does #3. I mean did u see the faces of DJAX and Dotson when Winston did that stupid eating Ws pre-game rah rah. Do you see ANY other NFL QBs doing that nonsense? NO! This is not FSU anymore…emotion wont win games. He sucks and until he goes this team is going nowhere. 50% completion rate and missed chances again today. Its time to implode the whole damn thing from coaches and GMs down the line. Kwon looked bad too. I think the team has quit.

  19. 1Gr8Buc Says:

Trade McCoy, I have honestly tried to defwnd him and give him the benefit of thw doubt. He was completely manhandled today. I can’t defend him anymore. His performance does not justify his pay.

Cut Martin, again I tried to defend and give him the benefit of doubt. Barber needs to be our #1 until we draft or sign a better option.

Fire Mike Smith, whatever he is doing is obviously not working.

Koetter needs to give up play calling. I honestly believe he can manage the team a lot better when not calling plays. I think Monken has the respect of the team to call the plays. We need a smash mouth physical team that takes calculated shots down field. There was a 3rd and medium today and all of our routes looked to be 10 yards or more. Our oline is not good enough to hold up long enough for those routes to develope. Quick short routes to build rhythm and confidence.

  20. unbelievable Says:

All 7 of our front 7 played atrocious today.

I’m seeing more and more missed tackles every week, from “core” guys like Kwon, LVD, GMC and Ayers.

It’s pathetic. This team has no will to fight and it’s only halfway point of the season.

  21. Season Is Over Says:

You know you are terrible when you make Schiano look correct about his college DL being better than the Bucs.

  22. Not there yet Says:

Tired of seeing our interior lineman getting blown off the line of scrimmage on every run play, there’s nothing elite about how gmc plays the run. That’s not coaching thats bad habits from a veteran comfortable with losing as long as he gets paid

  23. uckinator Says:

    No hope…Only pain !

  24. Rayjay1122 Says:

We ate us a big “W”. Whooping, that is.

  25. darin Says:

Its too late to fix soft. The attitude is set in training camp. The same one Dirk koetter decided to have his players make sure they stayed healthy, and not too hot, n didnt practice too late, or too long. Didnt want them to be uncomfortable. At the time i thought maybe he knew something we didnt, that they were already ready for the season. We just needed to stay healthy. Nope, soft it is. For all those who didnt think it was a big deal when saggy was heckling the kicker in the field of play and other shady stuff, well heres your answer. Dirk let the players run the camp. Heres your result. Lets get someone in here who can coach tackle football to young men. Someone who can also manage the game, while its going on. A real coach.

  26. AJ Says:

Thank you Buccaneers for making my $8000 season ticket investment. All but worthless for this season. Please let my account manager know. That there is no need to contact me for 2018 renewals. I will take that money and find better value somewhere else.

JOE will call everyone else out……..GMC IS A MILLION DOLLAR
