Riley “Joe Dirt” Bullough Released

September 2nd, 2017

Athleticism hurt

Not much to say here.

Hard Knocks celebrity linebacker Riley Bullough has been cut, per Adam Schefter of BSPN.

It’s no surprise. As much as Bucs fans and coaches loved the grit of “Joe Dirt,” also known as “Bully” among his teammates, Bullough was just lacking the necessary physical talent.

When candid Dirk Koetter praised Bullough through training camp, it always seemed focused on all of Bullough’s attributes that weren’t related to being a guy with real NFL potential. It was a tough spot for Bullough on a deep roster of Bucs linebackers.

Joe wishes Bullough well. What a perfect fit he could be for the Bucs’ practice squad.

Could you imagine Bullough leading a scout team? Dude would be ready and jacked up to challenge the offense.

Hey man….he gave it all he had….which is more than many others blessed with extreme football physical talent

  2. Brett Says:

Hard Knocks is always going to focus on someone who isn’t going to make the team, and the team has to go along with it as part of the show. That is the nature of “Reality” TV. Best of luck to him.

  3. Cobraboy Says:

A classic case of the spirit is willing but the flesh is weak.

Great ‘tude, but he lacks the wheels, twitch and strength for the NFL.

  4. RayJameisStadium Says:

    Yes. Perfect Attitude.

    I wish him the best.

  5. Mike Evans GOAT Says:

    Good luck Bully

  6. Buc50 Says:

Dante Dye also cut over Bobo Wilson. Hard Knocks star status doesn’t equal talent.

  7. Mike Evans GOAT Says:

    Bucs just cut McWeapon

  8. Buc believer Says:

I wish him well. Now if the coaching staff could see their way clear to getting rid of some other non producers who are way over paid we would be in great shape.

  9. Mike Evans GOAT Says:

Wallace gillberry would be a nice depth pick up

  10. Billy buc Says:

Bears wash their paws of Roberto!! Lol

  11. NJBucsFan Says:

Coach Smith said it best… his movement (lack of) will always be there. Practice squad I hope but not sure

  12. AlteredEgo Says:

PS will not help JD’s speed….the PS is too valuable for someone not likely to developed into a 53

  13. Mike Evans GOAT Says:

YES !!!!!! Auclair (Canadian TE) has been informed that he made the roster.

  14. PRBucFan Says:

Sad… I hope he eventually realizes his dream of playing in the NFL one day.

  15. stpetebucsfan Says:

He has nothing to be ashamed of….he left it all out on the field…gave it his maximum effort so he won’t have to second guess himself..

  16. Max Says:

and the great white hope goes down!

  17. Mike Johnson Says:

I really liked this kid. Was Hoping…But..this is the NFl. And I could tell by the last HBO special when Coach Smith made those Booth comments about him..He was gone!!!! You never know, he could get a shot with somebody else or in Canada. Good Luck Kid!!!

  18. NFLNut Says:

I’d love to see him on the practice squad BUT it seems to me the kid should get into coaching RIGHT NOW … no need to beat up your body anymore when you just don’t have the talent needed to play on this level … use that insane drive and football IQ to get into a safe profession like coaching … I imagine Michigan State would hire him as an assistant right now.

  19. webster Says:

    Come on max. Really?

  20. Lunchbox Says:

I was pulling for the kid, but he could get picked up by some other team. Best of luck Bully

  21. Buc50 Says:

@webster yes really be honest with yourself

  22. darin Says:

Good luck dirty bully. I hope he ends up on psquad too. Cant have enough effort guys who love football. We know he will keep working. Cmon jl lets find another hidden gem like jacquies smith after these last cuts. Need a pass rusher bad.

  23. Rod Munch Says:

Hopefully he makes it to the practice squad. I hold out hope that if he continues to learn the defense he can overcome being a half-step too slow. Also he seems like a guy that should be a special teams monster if they devote him to doing that. We shall see but I don’t think we’ve seen the last of Joe Dirt.

  24. Buccaneer Bonzai Says:

He will go to the Practice Squad.

  25. BigMacAttack Says:

Was rooting for JDirt but he was too slow. Great heart though and hope he makes practice squad.
