Details rise of defense.

Want to know why the Bucs defense has been holding its own if not dominating at times the offense of the Bucs so far in training camp?

Call it good ol’ fashioned ego.

Yes, winning Bucs coach Dirk Koetter has been singing the praises of the defense every day at training camp. But there is a reason the defense has been stout. In so many words, Vernon Hargreaves said the defense had it’s manhood challenged.

“Man, our offense is tough,” Hargreaves said. “We have one of the best quarterbacks in the game. I love practicing against him. He’s going to make you better. It’s almost like he never has an off day. For us, we try to be up to their level. They’ve still got some new guys, some young guys, that they’re putting in and starting to learn the offense. New guys like D-Jack [DeSean Jackson] – still trying to learn the offense, still trying to learn the verbage – but like I said we are competing against them, we are competing against the best quarterback we are going to see and he gets us better every day.”

It’s like players like to say, iron sharpens iron.

Look, the Bucs added the most dangerous deep threat in the NFL. They also added a serious tight end who thus far is living up to the hype. They added a feisty wide receiver who is practicing above his third-round selection. Indirectly, the Bucs added an “a$$hole” of a right guard, too. That’s not counting a top-five receiver and, of course, America’s Quarterback, Pro Bowler Jameis Winston.

So if you play defense for the Bucs and see all the additions to the offense, it’s like the defense was called out: We’re coming after you in practice! Try to stop us!

The defense, as a whole, seems to have taken this personally and manned up like they were dissed. Now, it’s payback.

    This is a beautiful post.

What the Bucs are doing is how you build a team.

I love it when you talk dirty to me Joe! This year is going to be F#*@ing amazing to watch. And we get Hard Knocks too?! It’s a great time to be a Bucs fan. After so many years of suffering with this team, it’s all starting to come together.

What was interesting from that Oj on Grimey play yesterday was him being split out wide. That size with WR like footwork will prove hard to handle man. I see it now,him tight then signaled to move out wide. LBrs forget it, average DBs too small.

We about to really test kuehley’s cover skills now. For years we had to deal wit the saints Jimmy Grahm, the cats Greg Olsen. Well now they gotta deal wit our OJ.

To quote Dirk Koetter, “The only thing people give a sh!t about are wins.”

Yeah the offense should be good which will make the defense better. Jackson, Evans, Howard, Godwin, plus a RB will be tough to defend. Then we still have Humphrey, and Brate to mix in.

    That’s all we give a s@$! about.
