“It Is Time!”

July 3rd, 2017

End the drought.

The drought has been way too long.

In a league built on parity, using”Bucs” in the same sentence with “playoffs” has been more like parody during the past decade.

Not since Chucky roamed the sidelines have the Bucs played meaningful games in January.

Oh, sure. Bucs fans got teased if not hosed since. Take the 2010 Bucs. The Raheem Morris-led club won 10 games — most in a season since Chucky was jettisoned — but lost a playoff tiebreaker to the eventual Super Bowl champion Packers. It took a blown call to keep those Bucs out of the playoffs. Target-parking-lot-hangin’ tight end Kellen Winslow was called for a push off in the end zone when he was clearly interfered with. That wiped six points off the scoreboard and the Bucs had to settle for a field goal but lost in overtime to the Lions.

Buh, bye playoffs.

Then last year, the Bucs teased fans by winning nine games, but again missed the playoffs in a tiebreaker.

This is why, per Mike Garafolo of NFL Network, Tampa Bay had a sense of urgency this offseason.

“When you added DeSean Jackson, when you added the free agents they’ve added the last couple of years, what does that say?” Garafolo asked last week while co-hosting “Good Morning, Football,” which featured Kay Adams wearing a shaggy bathrobe. “That tells us it is time.”

Time for what? Time to play meaningful games in January. Friggin’ playoff games for a change, you know?

Time for Lindsey Buckingham (I mean Coach Koetter) to take us to the postseason!

would have made the playoffs last year if Martin was not such a POS and Aguayo was not as mentally weak and down right putrid. it’s the curse of cancer93… licht knows what needs to be done. he will handle it.

jameis is about to carry these boys for a 7 to 10 year run… bucs have NEVER EVER contended consistently. this will be unknown territory and should be fun. the future is bright. too bad the D-clown wasted such a great defense all those years.

tmaxcon: LOFL at blaming not making the playoffs on Martin and Aguayo.. What about the Cowboys and Rams games? Jameis had an easy throw to VJax and missed him by 10 yards which wouldve been a TD for the win and playing horrible against a sub par Cowboys defense on Sunday Night Football? I think this is a big year for our QB to take that next step.

maybe if your starting running back you just paid was not [Joe is responsible for what is typed on his site and we do not know for sure what Martin got popped for. We do know whatever it was he claimed to have needed medical assistance to overcome it. — Joe] and instead at home getting rest and hydrating his hamstrings would have held up and he would not have been the worst starting RB in the league last year. When your stud running back takes the money and screws his teammates on a 9 win season I think any rational human could come to the conclusion with a hungry driven reliable RB the bucs would have changed the outcome of a couple of those games. maybe not a 12 win season but could have easily been a 10 or 11 win season. too bad the gerbil is unreliable and can’t be counted on. having a crap kicker changed the way koetter called games and affected decisions he made so don’t be so ignorant not to see that. yes the gerbil and the aguayo cost the bucs games thus a playoff spot. no doubt in my mind. but i am not a fanboy and only judge results. everything else is meaningless noise.

I agree, the drought that has occurred since we won the Superbowl has been far too long. Playoffs??? Screw the playoffs. Let’s win the Superbowl.

  7. Nole on Sat- Bucc on Sun Says:

I recall NFLnetwork doing a top 10 count down of teams that have went from worse in they’re division to winning it all the next season. Point is you can not have made the tournament for awhile but assemble a championship rosters and win the whole d&#$ thing the next season. Screw the playoffs, let’s win next season’s Superbowl.

What a fascinating year 2010 was for the Bucs, had such high hopes but the reality is we were slotted for an easier schedule based on our 4-12 record the year before. Having Doug at full commitment would have been nice but it’s pretty clear that his struggles and the carousel at RB hurt our team last year. I can’t complain about Jamies, he may have overthrown vjax but you’re asking a 22-23 year old to make magic and he sure came close to it many times in his 2 years here. I thought Ira’s post hit it right on the head; Winston is not Freeman, and thank god.

  10. DBS Says:

I can blame Jameis for a few of the games. And I don’t want to hear about his age and pressure or receivers or RB’s. They got him in the playoff hunt and 4000 yards. He knows all about pressure. He was in playoff games in college and the Championship Game. So he has been “Under Pressure” before.

I know we like pointing fingers at certain players but this is a team game. There were games the coach lost, defense lost, the offense lost, the kicker, the QB, the run-game, and on and on. You could definitely argue that talent played a big role as well. After all, it’s easy to forget that we were 6-10 two years ago.
We’ve got some real nice pieces in place this year and I’m hopeful that the playoff curse will finally be gone. The excitement is killing me!

Little pig, please post your political opinions on another website. This site is about our Bucs and your opinions are as useful as RV toilet paper. Damn…

Nicely done Joe with the parity/parody word play.

Yes – it is time. The future is NOW.

  16. Bucfan Says:

Please, let’s leave the politics off this page. We all have our opinions and frankly I don’t want to hear yours.
This is about our beloved bucs! Nothing else matters here.

  17. Tnew Says:

If anyone wants to point the finger at Jameis for a couple losses, you better point at him for 5 or so wins too. Team is 4-12 last season without him.
