GMC Is Fed Up

July 24th, 2017

Has had enough.

Joe is starting to believe there has never been a stud player in Tampa Bay sports history that has been more disrespected than Gerald McCoy.

The guy is a top shelf defensive tackle. It seems neither stats nor words from former NFC South offensive coordinator (like Kyle Shanahan or winning Bucs coach Dirk Koetter) who stated on the record that their top goal against the Bucs was to figure out a way to take GMC out of the game, are good enough for Bucs fans.

Hell, even beloved Warren Sapp has stated that in some ways, GMC is better than he was.

Yet all of these facts and words from trusted NFL sources aren’t good enough for some Bucs fans. They want to run GMC out of town on the next bus, it seems. Just terrible.

Yesterday, Joe shared information from none other than Ronde Barber, a former teammate of GMC’s, who went on record suggesting GMC is not a badass. That may have been the last straw for GMC.

The Bucs Pro Bowl defensive tackle took to Twitter this morning and he is none too happy, and it seems like all the potshots he has taken from fans and former teammates has finally boiled over.

GMC is absolutely right. Bucs fans won’t miss him it seems until it’s too late.

Hell, Joe remembers how Bucs fans were screaming about GMC’s play (?) last year against Oakland. Joe is convinced these folks didn’t watch that game. When GMC was taken out of the game for a few breathers, the Raiders gashed the Bucs up the middle with the run.

But apparently, some Bucs fans would rather have Akeem Spence than GMC.

Be careful what you wish for.

GMac is one of the nicest men I’ve ever met and I’m a supporter of his. But at the same time….I’m excited to see him play pissed off! Go get it, Gerald!!!!!!’

  2. tmaxcon Says:

Seven years and not a single signature game or a meaningful win. Couple that with his joyous celebrations after losses I’m confused what’s to miss.

  3. mbudhill Says:

This is what I’ve been waiting to see – a pissed off GMC. I’m guilty of always wanting more from his play ( for many reasons ,) but mostly because I’ve always felt there wasn’t a real passion to win. This entire off-season has been different for him. From his statement’s saying he’s gotta change to now this. I REALLY hope he comes out with an edge, a passion, an internal fire to win now, and finally the ability to make those around him that much better as he takes the defense, throws them on his back and just kicks the asses of all the opposing teams players. Remember GMC, shhhhh, speak softly…

  4. Tampabaybucfan Says:

A pissed off GMC may be a good thing….I’m quite certain it won’t hurt.

I think Ronde missed the mark……claiming Dungy was a badass & GMC not gives him no credibility on the issue.

Maybe some training came with supposed badass Sweezy will hone GMC’s “badassness”……

  5. Jason Says:

Hopefully he knows that not all fans feel negative towards him . We aren’t nothing without him.

  6. DB55 Says:

Lol, get mad on the field snow cone. Remember it’s a 4 qrt game. Or just ask for your release what ever puts that beautiful smile back on your face.

Meanwhile in real football player news Jameis is alive and well changing the mentality of this losing franchise. Get excited fans, the dead weight is slowly coming off the roster.

Now what are Chris contes buttons and where do I push them?

  7. Bucsfanman Says:

Most of those critics are also the ones who bury their heads in the sand when the discussion comes up about who they would replace him with. For the majority of his career, he’s had high coaching turnover and zero talent around him.
As stated earlier, this continues to be one of the dumber “conversations” that take place on JBF. GMC is a good football player. His stats say he’s top 5 in the NFL, but I guess that doesn’t mean anything because he’s not mean enough!
I’m sure there will be some creative posts to follow!

  8. Joe Says:

Lol, get mad on the field snow cone. Remember it’s a 4 qrt game. Or just ask for your release what ever puts that beautiful smile back on your face.

    Talk about a false narrative.

A third of GMC’s sacks have come in the fourth quarter of games. Joe’s wasn’t a math major but even he can figure out most of his sacks have come in the fourth quarter.

To make that more impressive, how many garbage teams have the Bucs fielded during GMC’s career? A lot! How many teams are going to throw on garbage teams in the fourth quarter with a lead?

There are a lot of puzzles in the universe and one such puzzle is how a defensive player can record a sack when the offense is running the ball?

Hope we can put this nonsense to bed about GMC not showing up in the fourth quarter. It just isn’t true.

  9. DB55 Says:

    Joe

It’s not fair to argue with you bc you have the eject button and as I’ve said thousands of times I’m addicted to JBF.

I would hate to get banned so “yes Sir you are correct! GMC does his best work in the fourth qrt. Constantly double and tripled teamed with no help and uhm yea..”. Whatever you say Joe.

Not my fault Rhonda called it like it is. 🍦

  10. DB55 Says:

    Remember the Alamo

  11. BucsQcCity Says:

Yes GMC is treated unfairly. he’s no Sapp but still a very solid player when healthy. He was cast as the leader at the moment he arrived in Tampa and I don’t think it’s is role.

If we were in cap hell I would be the first to complain about the value we get for the money spent but we are not so why poking the man until he get so pissed off that he leaves?

We have a chance to be great, let’s not dynamite this before training camp

  12. TrollSlayer Says:

unleash the beast maybe this is exactly the fuel GMC needs to unleash fury this year— you can be a nice guy off the field but as warren sapp once said to mike sherman “put a jersey on” because on the field we handle business like gladiators GMC just needs to get that mentality on the field and he will be fine

  13. Bucsfanman Says:

^^^The value for the money?! He’s one of the top 5 DTs in the league and the 6th highest paid. I’m not sure why anyone would complain.
Lets just hope this “pissed off” GMC slams the door shut on his critics once and for all.

  14. HFXBUX Says:

    No GMC. No playoffs.

  15. Kalind Says:

I love GMC. But I am really excited to see him pissed off. I want him hurting guys (other teams) out there. Just punish them Gerald. We’re behind you man.

  16. dooshlarue Says:

Non-issue because most likely he’ll be injured by game 4 is my prediction.
Then we can all wonder……..what if.

    Bye bye Crybaby93

  17. The Buc Realist Says:

The camera’s for NFL longest commercial (hard knocks) must be rolling already!!!!!!!

  18. webster Says:

    @ tampabayfan

See you do not know what badass is. You look at dungy’s demeanor on the sideline, but you did not see him during the week and his interactions with the team. The great derrick brooks on the radio talked about how dungy was going off on the team at a meeting and finished up with and if you dont get it together, then you wont be here. Dungy then walked out of the room. Herm edwards stood up and said if you looking around and thinking if its you, he is probably talking to you. Dungy demanded a level of greatness from his defense. No credibility is lost. Brooks has said it, do not let dungy’s demeanor fool you. He earned his lockerroom’s respect.

  19. ATrain Says:

Really That is the toughest Tweet he can come up with

JOE why don’t you ever talk about the PLAYERS who have called GMC out for being soft

    GMC a GOOD DT. YES

    Leader. NO

GMC is the only player JOE will not critize
He is Good but lacks leadership. And needs 4quarters of fire

  20. CT Buc's fan. Says:

A caveman can see that McCoy is a top 5 DT in the NFL. Those trying to get him on the next bus are just trolling and/or ignorant about the game, most likely both.

It’s pointless giving them the facts or otherwise trying to reason with them as they’re either unable to unwilling to objectively look at information that conflicts with their own beliefs.

They’re the type who would discard Science and embrace Scientology. And fortunately for them, the “Scientology Mecca” is just a 40 minute drive from Raymond James, over in Clearwater.

  21. DB55 Says:

He’ll quit before he’s plays harder.

He’ll ask for trade where he can be a role player. The one thing I give ice cream the most credit for is his business savvy. He realized a long time ago that he neither has to play hard or win to get paid so as long as he can avoid CTE or another major injury or illness (mrsa) then he and his crew are set for life and for that I can’t hate at all. Kudos to you Revis, I mean McCoy. Tip of the hat Sir.

  22. zwak Says:

Gerald the Hard Knocks guys are on line one, they would like to create a story about you being pissed off and want to know if you’ll help??

  23. mike10 Says:

I want to see that famous “first step” combined with a spin move or a strong chop, and not just getting caught up in the weeds up against offensive lineman.

I just want to see 93 play angry. If that anger is to prove me wrong, then fine. But he’s played next to Michael Bennett and now Robert Ayers, but he rarely stands out. And the second that this team started to show life again is once someone else took leadership.

McCoy is a great plug-and-play player, is top-notch against the run. But you’re not going to build a dominating defense around him.

Ronde is right, you need to have a mean playmaker next to McCoy to build that defense around.

  24. Tony from Los Angeles Says:

    No one wants this.
Sites like yours keep pushing this storyline to perpetuate a non story.
    Why?
Drama sells. Especially the fake kind.
Really ridiculous take. So Joe should ignore the public chattering of the team’s most decorated and highest paid player? Sorry. Joe cares about the Bucs and writes about what’s interesting. McCoy sent these messages on purpose to his 77,000 Twitter followers. Joe won’t pretend it didn’t happen. –Joe

  25. Locked In Says:

If he can stay healthy for 16 games I can see him getting past the double digit sack wall this year. If he does that, he’ll get another pro-bowl ticket, and the Bucs D will be a force.

  26. Defense Rules Says:

@dooshlarue … “Non-issue because most likely he’ll be injured by game 4 is my prediction.” Usually try not to knock commenters for dumb comments, but you what know Doosh, I’ll gladly make an exception in your case … that was a DUMB comment. (I see now where the handle came from). Injuries are a reality in the NFL (thus the need for depth?), but if GMC goes down, our playoff chances go way down also. BTW, GMC was hurt in his 1st 2 seasons (still got 19 games in 2 yrs however), but since then he’s been played an average of 15 games in each of the next 5 yrs. And yes, he played hurt in quite a few of those games. I won’t give you the answer, but go check to see how many other current DLinemen can say they played 75 games in 5 yrs, especially those who play as many defensive snaps as GMC does.

  27. Patrick in VA Says:

I’ll back a number of folks on here that have said that this is what most have been waiting for from him. However, it seems like he’s misdirected the angry sentiment. If he could just point that toward the other team and show some passion that way, the fans will be behind him. It’s never been about talent. That’s always been apparent. It’s the fact that he, and others, have invoked Sapp so many times in comparisons to him so people are looking for him to be what Sapp was to the team. If you don’t want to be compared so closely to someone who meant so much to the team and who had such a big personality, stop bringing it up. Stop talking about how much you lean on Sapp for guidance and how you try to model your game after him if you don’t want comparisons. Pretty easy concept to grasp, I’d say.

  28. ndog Says:

You see this is a large part of his problem. He is worried about what people think instead of getting better and trying to find ways to win. Bottom line is when we needed our defense the most, on the road vs two good offensive teams he was completely MIA. Dallas ran his way time and time against with no resistance and NO ran and threw all day with no resistance. That is the issue, he gets all these numbers and fans like the posters on this site just look at the numbers but does he help you win? When the chips are down and you need a tide turning play does he make it? When the team is questioning it self does he step up and stop the slide? If anyone on here can say the honestly believe McCoy is that guy then you are lying to yourselves and everyone else. So when you put all those facts on the table when he does leave what are we losing? We are losing a very talented player who put up good/great numbers but just did not have enough of that fire to take his talent to the level it could be. People always look down upon those players where they see the unreal talent level but goes missing when it matters most. This is because when you are given that kind of talent and you go missing it is just viewed as wasted, which no one like to see talent wasted on their team.

  29. BucEmUo Says:

We have some stupid axx fans here in tampa

  30. Lamarcus Says:

Are better with or without him or it doesn’t make a difference. I’ll take it doesn’t matter of he is with us or not. I can’t tell anyway

  31. BucTrooper Says:

Every year it’s something with GMC. Every year it’s some kind of “This year it’s going to be different.” And every year nothing happens…. he’s the DT who cried wolf.

  32. Oxycondoms Says:

“Joe is starting to believe there has never been a stud player in Tampa Bay sports history that has been more disrespected than Gerald McCoy.”

What about Tatu from the rowdies?

  33. The Buc Realist Says:

    Go Bucs!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  34. DB55 Says:

Food for thought: last yr both the lions and Texans finally made it to the playoffs without there best players i.e. Calvin Johnson and JJ Watts. So can the Bucs win without GMC? Yes, yes we can.

  35. Lord Cornelius Says:

It’s really weird man lol. I guess ppl love a scape goat.

Bottom line is his production is great and his effect on the game is visible and if you can’t see it then I don’t know what to tell you. His contract is great value for his production. There are objective stats that show he’s just as effective in the 4th quarter; and no objective stats or analysis to say otherwise. When he’s in the lineup vs out of the lineup it’s visibly different. The worst our line looked last year were in games GMC missed. Think Carolina early in the year. THat was embarrassingly bad. Going against an OK at best line we didn’t touch Derek Anderson the entire game.

Basically if you want GMC off the team or think he’s not worth the salary your opinion is likely based on a weird emotional need to scapegoat and blame someone for the team sucking for years.

  36. BucTrooper Says:

Someone tell me: what was GMC’s shining “moment” as a Buccaneer?

Where was the game that GMC went crazy and took over and the next day was all over SC.

I asked this question multiple times, no one has an answer for me.

  37. BillyBob Says:

Temperament. GMC Temperament has always seemed to be great, if you’re a psychologist conducting an anger management meeting. Not if you are playing the most violent position in sports. What the fans want to see from GMC is a lot more of (will to win) and less (want too want to win)

  38. gotbbucs Says:

Go out and do something about it, softy.

Mouth is always writing checks that your play can’t cash. Put your money where your mouth is for once. Make a play when it actually matters.

  39. ATrain Says:

GMC is a Good player when Joe tries to make him a Great player is the problem
Can the Bucs replace him prob not he does fills spot

But GMC is not a Super Star

JOE why do you stand on a soapbox for GMC

  40. Bucsfanman Says:

“Where was the game that GMC went crazy and took over and the next day was all over SC.”

I’ll answer your question with a question: When was the last game any defensive lineman since Simeon Rice took over a game? How about LB? I’m not talking about playing well, actually took over! DB?
Isn’t it a bit hypocritical to expect ONE guy to take over when there are many many facets?
I just don’t get the expectations.

Um where is any DT’s play in a game used as a primary highlight reel on SC lol? I can’t think of any.

This is just more evidence of the delusional world a GMC hater lives in. Inventing alternate realities to support their hatred.

Week 1 of last year GMC’s hand on Ryan’s pass won the game. It was in the highlights. I went through all of last year and pointed out a ton of huge plays from GMC in critical game moments that contributed to the win. But it’s a waste of time because it changed no one’s minds even though it was direct evidence that destroyed their baseless accusations.

They didn’t get much pressure or stop the run. You could say that about a lot of D-lines that faced Dallas – including lines with elite DTs and elite DEs.

Hey but maybe we would have had more success with Devonte Lambert out there blowing things up lol

  45. Dave Says:

The haters just need to shut up.
The guy is an all pro. You are hanging your hat on wins and losses and signature plays when he’s a DT in the most team oriented game there is. He’s had virtually no line help for years yet he’s putting up 7 sacks a year and tons of pressure. You guys are absolutely ignorant and football morons.

  46. Jeremy Says:

Joe – when has GMC dominated and stopped a Drive in the 4th? I can’t remember and neither can the rest of my fellow haters. Eric Berry should have went at 3

  47. Bucsfanman Says:

^^^Nice retort! That Dallas game was horrible for our entire defensive line yet, we can only point to GMC.

What are we even fussing about anyway?! There is not one single player on this football team beyond reproach.

  48. DB55 Says:

  49. shouldhavedraftedeifert Says:

That tweet seems pretty thin skinned. I never understood players that get all panty twisted cause of a few naysayers. It’s a disprespect to all those that supported them.

  50. gotbbucs Says:

He’s a 1-gap pentetrating DT, that was drafted to be the center piece of a 1-gap Tampa-2 defense that is built to have the 3-tech make plays. Every year prior to this one the defense was built around the thought that he would dominate his position, and every year h3 didn’t come through.

We won’t miss him when he’s gone. They can finally morph the defense into what they want when he’s gone.

  51. steve Says:

    Siligia – 2 – 1 – 1 – 1

    David – 9 – 1 – 1 – 1
    Alex – 21 – 0 – 1 – 0

If I’m not mistaken Spence’s shoulder was falling off his body and he was still battling with arguablely the best if not the biggest and strongest LT in the league. No quit in his game.

And with the best DT in the game we still gave up 250 yards rushing. The worst part about it all is we had the lead with like 5 mins in the 4th and a playoff birth in hand. What did GMC do? Oh he gave the pre-game pep talk, by far the best pep talk in the history of sports. Lmao

I’d love to understand the logic behind that. I doubt you even watched more than a couple Dolphins games if that

    Suh: 41 tackles, 5 sacks, 3 PD, 0 FF, 8 STF (stuffs) – or 16 impact plays via sack/ FF/ stuff / pass defense

McCoy: 26 tackles, 7 sacks, 5 PD, 2 FF, 3 STF – or 17 impact plays via sack / FF / stuff / pass defense

  66. DB55 Says:

  67. Lord Cornelius Says:

Roger borras = perfect textbook example of a delusional McCoy hater.

He’s even open about the fact that he believes it’s somehow rational to scapegoat a single defensive lineman for the failures of a team in the ultimate professional team sport.

“A third of not enough is still not enough”. McCoy has averaged about 8 sacks per year the last 5 years straight. That’s about as good as it gets for DTs. He’s the 6th highest paid DT.

If you have a problem with his personality or him being a leader that’s cool and I get it. But these arguments about his production being terrible in general or terrible relative to his pay and peers aren’t supported by anything objective.

  69. DBS Says:

Get real. Just about anybody could dominate the Buccaneers. The games they did win were mostly when teams were missing their best players. Like the Seahawks missing Bennett. And they could barely put 17 points on the board most of the year. The defense kept them alive. The Panthers gave them the last game. The entire defense sucked at the beginning of the year. McCoy never asked to be the “Leader” of this defense. This is not the Brooks, Sapp, Barber, Lynch and Rice Rah Rah Tampa 2.

  70. Lord Cornelius Says:

DB55 – good find on that one actually! props lol

It does look like there were 3-4 other guys ready to make that tackle (and one dude ready to just lay Crapernick the f*ck out) – but you never know – maybe Crap breaks those tackles somehow and scores if Suh doesn’t get him. Suh definitely blew up the O-lineman on the play regardless and forced the pressure.

Trust me I want more from GMC and am not a fan of his personality; but I also would put a ton of Bucs players above him in terms of players I am more worried helping this team or being a liability. He can be exactly what he’s been the last 5 years and worth every penny to me. We are worse without him period in my opinion; and his salary is not inflated relative to production period. because of that I really don’t care if he loves ice cream and disney movies. I think he’s already taken a step back as a leader and is letting Winston drive the ship.

Will be interesting to see if this is a hard knocks story tho. Maybe he cries a lot in the locker room while eating a tub of ice cream and I’ll start to come around on the hating lol; but I don’t think that’ll happen. If anything I’m sure the nice HBO cameras will capture how his burst off the snap is like 2x as fast as anyone elses

  71. Scottasuarus Says:

What is the NFL all about? Winning!! JBF was and is wrong about Manziel, Dominik, Revis and a few others I’m sure I can’t remember. Now, it’s GMC. Stats, 4th quarter, double/triple, decuple (10 teamed), injuries…it doesn’t matter. We haven’t won and GMC is happy and OK with that or he would have become a leader by now. He’s all butt hurt that he is being attacked. Where has he been as his team and teammates were losing and being attacked? Wow, the Bucs are really going to become a terrible team if he leaves. BS. They’ve been terrible while he has been here. I for one, would welcome the chance for a change of leadership on the defensive line. What’s the worst that could happen?

  72. DB55 Says:

All I know is that the jets have a fire sale going on and 4 pb on the dline we’ll maybe 3. Send ice cream to NY so he can feel the wrath of a real fan base. GMC wouldn’t last more than 6 games.

  73. DBS Says:

  74. Bucsfanman Says:

And Suh carried Tannehill to the playoffs?!!!!! Are you smoking?! Two words: Jay Ajayi! Oh wait! It’s a “passing league”!

Couple of responses to my question… no answers. I’m looking for ONE GAME in a career when GMC took over. ONE. I will agree with Joe*, SportsCenter highlights do not a career make. But there has to be one game in an entire career that was worthy of the media focusing on. JJ Watt has gone nuts a few times. Even Michael Bennett. Where is that “game” that we can look at and say, “he owned that 60 minutes.” Whenever someone questions McCoy’s abilities, we get the litany of all pro appearances, Pro bowl appearances, etc. With all those accolades, he never took over one single game and was just a dominant force?

I asked the question because the answer is “there isn’t one.”

  77. Scottasaurus Says:

Run for the hills!!! If GMC leaves, we won’t make the playoffs or win at home or have someone with two digit sacks!! Oh…wait. Never mind.

  78. DB55 Says:

I hope you have higher standards than 4 tackles and 1 sack.
    ———-
Honestly I don’t think you can name 1 game where McCoy had 4 tackles and a sack. IJs

  79. Bucsfanman Says:

Way to fuel the fire Joe! Looks like some have been waiting in the weeds!

OK BucTrooper, looks like you got me. Lets just trade him for a 4th and 5th and end the misery!!! 🙂

  80. Bucsfanman Says:

@DB55- See reply to BucTrooper! That is all!

  81. Stud Says:

Poor GMC all that money, no playoffs, no playoff wins and only 2 winnings seasons since he’s been a Pro. Lead your defense to a top 10 finish and let the play on the field speak for you.

I hate all the talk from players, if you want to be known as nasty and a winner go out and do it.

  82. DB55 Says:

    BUcfan

The jets Leonard Williams will do it for me. 68 tackles and 7 sacks vs GMC’s 34 tackles and 7 sacks. But I’m positive Williams never gets double teamed never ever ever ever so there’s that, lmao.

  83. SOEbuc Says:

This D line with a mean, nasty GMC next to the already mean and nasty Robert Ayers could become extremely mean and nasty.

  84. Alanbucsfan Says:

McCoy is pro bowler 5 straight years, averaging 8 sacks/ year last 4 years
and if healthy will be a future hall of famer.
If certain fans can’t see his talent and value, then watch Arena football.

  85. Dlavid Says:

Bring that attitude to the field McCoy !

  86. DB55 Says:

All this talk got me thinking of another celebrity in the news and his message is so poignant lmao

    https://g.co/kgs/t6hhz1

  87. Lamarcus Says:

Just trade him already. We talking about a dt that wants to play angry now 8 years in. And Williams doesn’t get doubled cuz he is 5 tech. Only and every 3 tech gets doubled. Not just mccoy

  88. BigMacAttack Says:

I’m a GMC fan. He has to find a way to stay healthy. I believe the vast majority of Bucs’ fans are in his corner, but the loud mouth haters are the ones stirring the pot. Gerald just needs to focus on his game and play for the guys on his left and his right.

Joe please do a new GMC poll

  89. BurgDweller Says:

This is just all talk on Twitter by GMC. I’ll believe the nastiness when I see it in action on the field on Sundays, but I’m not holding my breath. Actions are stronger than words.

  90. JoeT Says:

Bad move GMC. I like the guy as a man and as a player, but this kind of public outcry is nonsense and counterproductive. It takes the focus off the team and puts it on him. Who the hell cares if people don’t love or respect you enough? The only love and respect you should need is from your team, your family and your paycheck. Everything else is just white noise and he shouldn’t listen to a word of it. What ever happened to “f the haters”? Nowadays people obsess about them it’s sad. Jameis has 100x the haters GMC does bc of a crime he didn’t commit, but you’ll never hear him say a word about it because he’s a winner. I get you taking his side Joe, but there’s no reason for him to have said this in the first place.

  91. bucs_365 Says:

JBF creates a platform for the GMC haters to b!tch and moan. Should probably let them complain elsewhere. Too much of that stupid sh!t floating around.

  92. JoeT Says:

The internet and twitter is a platform for that. GMC makes tens of millions of dollars to play a game. If he’s so weak minded that he has to threaten leaving because of some opinions from people who don’t matter, then let him. He’s just proving Ronde’s point. A bad ass would go about his business and let his play speak for itself, not complain on twitter about how unappreciated he is. Look at your bank account GMC! That’s how appreciated you are!

  93. StPeteBucsFan Says:

The haters simply can’t have it both ways!!!! You (TMAX looking at you) beotch and complain that GMC SINGLE HANDEDLY lost all those games for us.

You just cannot do that!!! IF he lost those games when we played poorly AS A TEAM…then he won the victories last year when our D turned it around.

While I totally disagree with those who are upset with GMC’s play I simply cannot believe some of the excuses. They are absurd.

Lord C and DR are absolutely correct…football is the ultimate team sport…even QB’s cannot totally control the outcome and certainly NO DL determines the outcome….why hasn’t Houston done better in the playoffs…because JJ Watt is no badass? Really?

The Rams totally SUCKKKK and so I gotta believe according the rules of TMAX that Aaron Donald is a total loser…why doesn’t he get that team to play better….what’s wrong with that wimp?

All I can say is C’mon Man. The haters have been blown away by statistical comparisons to Suh and other DT’s…GMC just looks to good..and so then they say but yeah nothing important in the 4th Q and Joe shoots that one down as well.

Bottom line…nobody…NOBODY has made a convincing argument that GMC deserves all this hate. I personally thing we should be investigating Hillary…GMC probably voted for her and so once again we know what is truly wrong with this country….a retired old lady. LMAO

  94. JimmyJack Says:

The problem with McCoy that some fans have is an unrealistic expectation. He is often called Soft. Where does that come from? I think the answer to that question is because the defense, generally speaking, has been solved every year and McCoy has been here. They are blaming McCoy for our entire defense being soft because he is seen as the leader on defense. The problem is that he does not have great leadership qualities that produce great NFL defenses. NFL defenses need that edge and that attitude and a bit of nastiness. McCoy just doesn’t have that edge of nastiness to him it’s not his style.

The McCoy haters hate him because he is not the leader that’s needed to turn around in NFL defense. It really has nothing to do with his actual game.

These fans are dreamers and when we drafted McCoy and local broadcasters dubbed him as the next sat they bought in Hook Line & Sinker. They’re dreamers and they’re fools they aren’t got a clue about football. It’s not because they bought into the talk that makes them fools it’s that day blame McCoy for everything rather than just simply realize he’s not the leader that he was dubbed to be.

  95. JimmyJack Says:

    Soft***not solved

  96. bucs_365 Says:

Fans are out of their minds with hating on players. It’s one thing to hate on someone like, say Roberto Goodbye-O, but this crap with McCoy comes from people with a screw loose. Several screws.

  97. JimmyJack Says:

    Sapp*****not sat

  98. JayBucBoi Says:

Do something about this Joes, Ira! Joes always talking about the hate, and stupidity, of some Bucs fans who want to run McCoy out of town. You HAVE to have playmakers at every level to be elite in this league. To win championships. DLine, linebacker, and secondary. Kwon is just getting started, and we want to run GMac out the door??!! What the flip?!?
DB55, tmax, and these other fools ain’t nothing but Bucs haters looking to keep the team in turmoil and from returning to the mountain top.

    FAKE FANS KICK ROCKS!

  99. JimmyJack Says:

I think these fans ought to go to training camp to tell McCoy personally their own personal thoughts about him.

Then they should stay at training camp after practice is over. The rest should take care of itself and all us other fans can enjoy Buccaneers football without having to put down the words of these morons

  100. JayBucBoi Says:

    JoeT has a point though.

  101. Nole&aBuc Says:

This story just got second legs. For those not aware check out the new article on the Times Buc Beat and all the tweets from the Times sports staff. There is even a link to the previous story regarding Gerald here on Joe BucsFan. Looks like a media feud coming to a head. This might so entertaining it becomes part of Hard Knocks.

  102. JimmyJack Says:

I wanna see McCoy in a playoff game so bad. Haters fail the guy and he’s never been tested. I’m sorry did I say haters, I meant dreamers

  103. JimmyJack Says:

thanks a lot dreamers. because of you fools we now have a tirade on mainstream media about it. fans of other teams can now see this garbage and they will judge all of Tampa over it. you have now offically made all us us look like complete morons as the rest of the country laughs at us. you guys are such an embarassment.

why do the biggest morons in the room always have the Loudest voices? And yes i was thinking about all the treehuggesrs when i say that.

  104. Pelbuc Says:

He’s the anti-Sapp and the anti-Selmon. Never made a signature play or changed a game. He can be easily replaced with someone with less talent and more heart and thicker skin. Bucs should trade his whiney ass while they can get something for him. It’s not about GMC hate, it’s about getting someone who can elevate the other players like Kwon. Never won with GMC so he won’t be missed.

  105. JimmyJack Says:

Lord C hit it squarely with his scapegoat comment. This reminds me of Rays fans blaming the hitting coach year after year while our roster consisted of a few been big league hitters and 12+ bottom order hitters who wouldn’t and never did play well enough to sniff the Big leagues with any other club…………Meanwhile the few capable players that Sheldon ever worked with here had the better seasons of their own careers working with Sheldon. All this happens right in front of these fans faces yet they are too dumb to even see it.

This McCoy rage is no different. Rarely do you here the dreamers cry about the garbage(list is to long to tell) that McCoy has been surrounded with. They just want to blame McCoy for everything because its the easiest thing to do. These dreamers haven’t a clue, in their peanut little minds they actually believe if McCoy actually was Sapp(their crushed dream) that he could somehow turn the garbage into the next Brooks, Ronde, Lynch, ect.

This is the mind of a dreamer ladies and gentlemen. They are as ignorant as they come.

  106. JimmyJack Says:

Pelbec your a pure moron. McCoy doesn’t have to elevate squat. If you weren’t so peabrained you would know that anytime he takes on a double team he does elevate them anyways.

But let’s just give you the benefit of the doubt and assume that he does need to elevate everybody else on the team. Now tell me why? You freaking tell me why right freaking now.

Bye dude, you have no good answer for that question. That’s a fact jack…….you’re now free to go back under your rock and have a wet dream about McNicols or Goodwin or whatever it is that’s going through your massless cranium

  107. DB55 Says:

    Hey joe

I thought we could change screen names why is Hawaii now jimmy jack? Lol

  108. JimmyJack Says:

The funny thing is that nobody ever expected Sapp to change the culture of this team. That’s just who Sapp was………McCoy has a personality similar to Brooks.

Another funny thing is that Kwon is now the guy who should be expected to elevate the team. I only expect it from him because its easy to see he has that personality type required for the job.

The dreamers are surely too dumb to realize that the cultural leader of most great defense usually comes from the linebacker position. I’d tell them why but they don’t understand squat. Sapp was a once in a generation player that we were all blessed to have. The marriage of he and Dungy(yep, I said it morons) set in motion an era of football that Tampa had never had.

  109. JimmyJack Says:

And DB55 don’t you dare come on here for your rebuttal at 2am when I’m sleeping and your holding your been big mofo little stick in your hands.

If you got something to say say it now or never or find me on another article tomorrow or the next day. We only want fans who are men in Tampa. There are no seats in RayJay for squirmers.

  110. JimmyJack Says:

    OK I deserved tha

  111. Pelbuc Says:

Damn JimmyJerk, you need a woman!

  112. JimmyJack Says:

I got the best dam woman in Pasco County sucka. Nice try. How bout we not skirt to convoy?

  113. JimmyJack Says:

    Convo***

  114. JimmyJack Says:

I’ll be the first to admitted that you foolish dreamers get me worked up. That’s cause I’m a pattionate fan. You got a problem with that?

Plus you caught me on the eve of Walmart ruining my dinner and having to eat chicken nuggets cause they sold me a rotten chicken. I’ll resort to thievery before I ever give them creeps another penny

  115. JimmyJack Says:

DB55. You do all that jaw flapping before I got. here then all you tell me is I’m some other poster from Hawaii. Are you getting sleppy now? I did just see the streetlight pop on after all.

  116. DB55 Says:

    JimmyJack

You don’t have enough street cred for a response. No offense but I would be talking to a brick wall. JUst keep Your eyes and ears closed and keep pouring your heart out. It’s entertaining if nothing else.

  117. Thespiritof1976 Says:

GMC is a good Christian person and the world needs more GMC’s than it does badass football players.

  118. DoNUTS Says:

In the past, I have been critical of GMC not being HOF level. He may not be HOF but he is a VERY good player. This team is not in the playoffs without 93.

For those of u stating “Bucs wont miss him”, you are not paying attention to the action in the trenches well enough. He is double and triple teamed most times. I also think he has a tough gig for being the guy “after Sapp”. Regardless, NFL is different than it was during Sapp time so I think GMC is a product of that evolution of the game. He may be different but different does not mean he is not very good. The Bucs are much better with him.

  119. JimmyJack Says:

Yeah DB55. Just as I figured. You hadent a word for me in rebuttal. And I know the cat don’t have your tongue. I know that deep down you know your a dreamer. And you know Lord C was right and GMC is your convient scapegoat.

I have no idea what street cred means on a sports blog but something as stupid as that is about what I expected.

Where I come from we resolve(or argue endlessly) our sport debate through intelligent though, married with a few choose words(cause its fun). You take your street cred and stuff it up your rear bro.

You want street cred? Then we can have a real debate during tailgates wherever it is that the stick carriers meet. I’ll just wear my freeman jersey so you can find me and tell me about how little credibility I have. Which shall surely be followed by laughter as I walk away.

    Street cred.? Hahahahaha…..I aren’t a freaking clue

  120. MadMax Says:

Cant wait to see him playing DE in a 3/4….maybe he’ll excel in that role. And I would like to see a more nasty edge to him but nothing we can do about that. He’s going to do him and if somehow his attitude gets more aggressive and it does improve his play, then Im all for it. If not, I’ll still support him.

  121. Lamarcus Says:

Mccoy is whack. Trade him and use his salary cap to retain our younger guys. It’s weird his 2 unhappy stages of his career comes in the 2 only winning seasons. Browns would be a great fot for him. Tampa Bay bucs are in a new chapter and he must move on. Losing syndrome is a real thing

  122. RTG Bucs Says:

Holy sh**!! JimmyJack do you really believe that “McCoy has a personality similar to Brooks.” You need to lay off the weed!! Brooks has a personality that would not allow him to lose. He has a personality that would not allow him to be blocked. When he did get blocked he would continue to fight until the whistle was blown, many times making a play that no one should be able to make solely because he had the will to never give up.

McCoy on the hand will stand up at the line of scrimmage and act like a freaking defensive back instead of fighting through the block, whether it is a double team or not. If he gets knocked down, rarely does he ever make a play because of 2nd effort. Does he make plays? Yes he does. But with his size and physical ability, if he just had the heart to not get beat he would be a complete beast. Would he be a Sapp, probably not, nor is he expected to be, but he would be considered a fighter and the fan base would love him.

Sorry, but he does not have a personality similar to Brooks, not even close.

  123. Lamarcus Says:

Gmc personality of that of a guy that has to make friends in order to face the bully. He actually rubs me in wrong

  124. JimmyJack Says:

RTG….you got a point there with that one.

I would use the word calm if I were describing Brooks personality which is why I said that. I’ll admitt I’m wrong on that one.

  125. JimmyJack Says:

I would use the word calm to describe Brooks which is why I said that. I’ll admit I’m wrong on that one

  126. DB55 Says:

McCoy on the hand will stand up at the line of scrimmage and act like a freaking defensive back instead of fighting through the blocK
    —–
Somebody is paying attention to game tape. Good for you, good for you!

  127. Bobby M. Says:

GMC is a very very good player….He however is not a Hall of Fame player nor perceived as a winner. His leadership skills are suspect as well. That’s the reality for him….He wants all the glory with no hate yet as fans we prefer to give that when you get us to the playoffs….once….in your entire career, not just for being a good player and nice guy.

  128. Lamarcus Says:

I think he will ask for a trade or be cut at some point.

  129. Thespiritof1976 Says:

You idiots wanting GMC gone are as clueless as the idiots who wanted Doug Williams gone after 1982.

  130. jb Says:

Those tweets look to me like he’s already decided to check out. Not sure what to make of ’em, but it looks like he could end up mailing it in this season and just collect his check. I just hope he doesn’t start whining about being unappreciated while they’re filming HardKnocks. I love GMC, but man…….don’t listen to the crap you see written or heard about you. If you do listen to it, above all……..Don’t react to it publicly!

  131. gotbbucs Says:

I’m still trying to figure out what game so many of you are watching. HOF? He has zero chance. He’s not been a dominating player on bad teams, he’s been an average to decent player on bad teams that were really counting on something more out of him.

He is a decent player that gets his ass handed to him way too often for a player being paid his salary and for as much as his play gets pumped up by this very site. Once upon a time Joebucsfan held him accountable, now it is just an enabling forum for him.

  132. gotbbucs Says:

    @JimmyJack

None of us need to show up at camp and tell him anything to his face, although I gladly would if you want to pay for my flight.

He’s already been told by his respected peers at the pro bowl and now ex-teammates like Ronde Barber are hinting at it.

It is what it is really. I haveNT really got a major problem with how he plays overall, he’s a big soft teddy bear. I could tolerate it to a point most of the time. It’s the dullard’s that show up on this site praising him as some kind of future hall of famer that pisses me of the worst.

  133. RealBucFan Says:

Not hard here, Joe I usually always agree with you. But Ronde can call anyone on this roster a you know what. He was the smallest guy on the field, would take anyone on, played in most consecutive games by a dB in nfl history, has what probably 25 less sacks than Mccoy. And he is a future HOF with a SB ring. In my opinion, Mccoy listen to the Legend, and maybe you can become one. Period.

  134. Bucsfanman Says:

Wow! I missed some pretty funny sh!t!!! I guess I should’ve stayed awake.

  135. Yungry Says:

Please stop helping opposing players up after plays!

  136. Another J Says:

I’d rather him be on our team, Versus playing against him!
GMC is one of the best defensive tackles in the league, No less than a top 5 talent at his position, It’s not his fault that the Bucs have failed to find him consistent help on the defensive line.

If you want to see his true value, look at how much the D-Line falls off when he misses his annual game, or two. The fall off is currently very steep.
I think GMC will have a career year statistically playing next to Baker, Ayers, and Spence.

  137. JimmyJack Says:

Gotbucs your right about that one. But I highly doubt his teammates told him he was deadweight or that he was hurting the team with his presence or that the team would be better without.

You see I not saying GMC doesn’t deserve critism. But when the critism reaches a delusional level where fans are trying to convince others that he is actually dead weight (ie DB55’s first post) on the team…..then I take extreme exception.

There are surely things to critize about GMC. But fans really ought to have an idea of what’s real and what’s not. I don’t take exception with every GMC critic that’s posted here so long as they are being honest about what GMC is bringing to the team.

Facts are facts and when you say some of the foolish things that’s being written here I’m going to call them out. Every time too.

Its also quite fun challenging these moronic dreamers. If feels like shooting fish in a barrel.

  138. JimmyJack Says:

I’m not going to simply allow these fans to spread BS throughout our fanbase. If I see it I’m going to call them out and they haven’t a chance when they are factually wrong.

Simply put, there is not a decent reason to spread lies about GMC(deadwieght) in order to aid your critism.

Critism is fair game for any player in sports. It ain’t asking a lot to want to hear it with facts and truth. If your gonna BS your gonna get an argument every time.

  139. Reach87 Says:

Disgraceful how vehement some can be with the best dlineman on the team. The act of a moron to tear apart someone ON YOUR TEAM in this way. No matter how you try to justify it, its not right, less than helpful and borderline pathetic.
