“Dream Come True”

March 2nd, 2017

Tampa Bay dreamin.’

Stud running back Dalvin Cook was talking Bucs today.

He noted he is open to play with any and all NFL teams because his childhood dream was to play in the NFL.

However, Cook’s football wet dream may be found in Tampa Bay.

This afternoon, Cook held his press conference at the NFL combine held in Indianapolis and was asked about how he would feel to reunite with his former college quarterback, America’s Quarterback, Pro Bowler Jameis Winston.

Cook left no doubt how he felt.

“Dream come true,” Cook said in a blink of the eye. “The idea of playing with Jameis – [I] only played with him a half-year. But the games and the experiences we had is something that I will always remember. He is one of those quarterbacks he will always make sure you are doing the right thing, that you are on top of it and that you be the player you can be.

“He is always on top of it. He is one of those leaders that you want to be around.”

Cook also said he and Jameis have been in touch and Jameis is somehow trying to find a way — rabbit’s foot, seance, lighted candles — for Cook to slip down the board for Bucs AC/DC-loving general manager Jason Licht to grab him at No. 19.

“We have conversations sometimes about it,” Cook said. “We are always in contact. Maybe, somehow [it could happen].”

Now think about this for a moment: Not that long ago, hell, a couple of dozen months ago, no player wanted to come to the Bucs. Now, guys that are the pick of the litter at their respective positions are openly pining to play for the Bucs.

All Joe can say is, “God bless, America.”

Would love to see it, but just don’t think it will happen. Cook seems too good to slip all the way down to 19!

I like the part when he says “I CAN DO IT ALL” Got-d@$!mit😠.

  4. Joeypoppems Says:

Mariota might have been a safer prospect to build around, but this franchise needed Jameis’ leadership ability badly. It is paying dividends big time right now.

  5. Nole on Sat.-Bucc on Sun. Says:

Rabbit foot my @$$.. Licht coming for you my G. The Dream will be lived.

  6. Nole on Sat.-Bucc on Sun. Says:

So he and Fameis rappin every week. What Fameis want Fameis will get. Trust and believe. Ion give f@$! bout no future picks. Just get it done Mr. Licht.

  7. BurgDweller Says:

I think Cook will be drafted by one of the 6-10 picks. All of those teams, with the exception of the Chargers desperately need a RB. The Bucs would have to give up a lot to jump up and get Cook and as much as I would love to have him, it won’t be worth it.

Lock up your BB guns and hide your squirrels

  9. Eric Says:

Something tells me this thread is going to have 100+ posts.

Only way I want Cook is if he drops. We certainly don’t need to be trading up unless its only a couple of spots and a 4th rounder…tops.

  10. Nole on Sat.-Bucc on Sun. Says:

D@$! right super you smart enough to know he coming. Its his dream to play with Fameis here in the Bay.

  11. Eric Says:

Everyone of Cook’s die hard fans in here need to prepare for the very real possibility the panthers draft him. I’d hate to play him twice a year. ugh.

  12. Nole on Sat.-Bucc on Sun. Says:

Ima say it again I’M TAKING ALL BETS ON HIM BEING DRAFTED BY TAMPA. HOLLA AT ME.

  13. DB55 Says:

Can’t players refuse to sign or demand a trade ala Manning? Is that a thing or am I making stuff up?

  14. Kobe Faker Says:

Cook just doesnt pass the Kobe eye test

Has good straight away speed but doesnt have the wiggle/juke/studder first step

He runs too straight up and will get popped too many times

will have much better combine numbers than devonte freeman, but he doesnt have the elusiveness as free. North south straightup runners wont last in this leauge

29th worst YAC team 2 years in a row…no playmakers for Jaboo again coming this year?

    pay 9 mill for Garson

defensive tackle in the first (bpa..top 2 wrs will be gone)

draft Dede westbrook in the 2nd round

***we will finally see the progression of our franchise QB, as he uses his pieces, RAC Garson, westbook, and sims to breakdown the defenses and throw over the top to evans to lead us to the 2017 NFC championship game

How many times do I have to school you? The BB guns stuff happened in 2012.

Cook was a junior at Miami Center HIGH SCHOOL in 2012. Jesus, as usual, you never let facts get in the way of spewing idiocy around this place.

  16. Blake_Bucsfan Says:

Holy crap on a stick, can’t elieve I’m saying this, but Kobe is spot on with his analysis of Cook.

Won’t matter tho, since he will picked in the top 10 any way.

  17. Nole on Sat.-Bucc on Sun. Says:

Don’t be salty kobe and Blake when oj has a presser I’m sure Joe will post it. Won’t mean he will be drafted by the Bucs but I’m sure he’ll post none the less.

  18. Kobe Faker Says:

Blake, i see alot of lamar miller in Cook

Most Gms are getting better at the drafting process. the value is on the defensive players.

most gms know Zeke was great because of the line. No team has a line like Dallas. No runningback is worth top 15th pick. Too many players that will better NFL players than Fourette and Cook.

  19. Pickgrin Says:

    Pipe Dream.

  20. Blake_Bucsfan Says:

Aaaaaaaaaaaand you lost me Kobe. Cant say I would compare him to Lamar Miller. I’d say Nfl.com was pretty darn accurate with there comparison of Clinton Portis.

I see a Darren Mcfadden type of future for Cook tho. I just do not see him staying healthy.

  21. Owlykat Says:

Florida had a good defense but got torched by Cook every year. He can catch the ball well and block. Let Licht find the way and get it done. Throw in Glennon as part of the deal with a fourth pick and move up and get Cook.

  22. Owlykat Says:

If you have to trade the rights to our muscle hamster too in order to get Cook.

  23. Joe Says:

    Owlykat:

Dude, to trade up in the draft, you have to offer something teams want. Nobody wants Muscle Hamster’s contract/PED issues or Glennon.

  24. Nole on Sat.-Bucc on Sun. Says:

4 words. Welcpne to Tampa Mr. Dalvin😂😂

  25. Mike Evans GOAT Says:

    @pickgrin
Just like ur pipe dream that we will get budda baker in the 2nd round

  26. Mike Evans GOAT Says:

Cook did 22 reps on the bench and Donta foreman did 18! Looks like that shoulder is feelin good Blake. And McCaffery only did 10 lol

  27. steviejanowski39 Says:

Should Jason Licht create a Warren Sapp esque scandal for draft day that will cause him to drop? I’m sure he has some pictures from Freshman year wearing a bong mask.

  28. tnew Says:

you guys haven’t watch much film of Cook. He has elite agility and balance. He has serious wiggle. The film is easily available. Fornette, I would agree, limited wiggle doesn’t run in tight space well, but still a stud. The biggest thing I have on Cook is he should be an awesome receiver out of the backfield but is prone to concentration drops. He also lacks the size/power that some other backs have, so did Marshall Faulk tho. Also, if he drops to 12 and we can switch out with Cleveland, who already has an early pick. Last time we picked an undersized FSU back at 12 it worked out pretty good.

  29. Blake_Bucsfan Says:

Lol Mike, first, bench press is a measure of pectoral strength. 2nd, guys with shorter arms typically bench more because they generate leverage easier. 3rd, excessive bench pressing actually leads to chronic shoulder issues.

Consider that argument dismantled my friend.

  30. Joeypoppems Says:

Have you seen McCaffrey’s chest? Pectoral strength isn’t going to be there lol

  31. Joe Says:

Should Jason Licht create a Warren Sapp esque scandal for draft day that will cause him to drop? I’m sure he has some pictures from Freshman year wearing a bong mask.

Should have paid Cook to walk into the combine interview room today all Mr. T blinged out with a joint in one hand, a bottle of Jack in the other followed by a gaggle of loose women.

  32. Mike Evans GOAT Says:

    @blake
I don’t want to argue over it, but shoulder issues definitely effect bench press numbers. I have had shoulder injuries (minor) and I work out. When my shoulder was jacked up it definitely effected my bench numbers.

  33. macabee Says:

    Just for you NosBos! Enjoy!

  34. Rib Says:

I’m sure glad no doesn’t run this organization because lit is much smarter than you. Cook isn’t that good bro and get over your man crush LOL

  35. Nole on Sat.-Bucc on Sun. Says:

Good lookin out mac. Kobe andc Blake feel free to enjoy it wit me. Its what greatness looks like.

  36. Jason Says:

Blake, bench presses involve your pectorals, shoulders, lats to an extend, triceps, and biceps even in stabilization. Just saying “haha they effect pectorals” makes you sound foolish.

Mike, you’re spot on. When I’d had shoulder issues before, it always affected my bench press, not to mention dips.

  37. Jason Says:

    *Extent

  38. feelthepewterpower Says:

ah yes…all we need is cook on video smoking a bong….problem solved!

  39. Blake_Bucsfan Says:

Just peeped that mock draft, and it has Reuben Foster falling all the way to 27.

    Throw it out. Laughable.

  40. Mike Evans GOAT Says:

We just need to get a cook doppelgänger and post a video on social media of it. Lol

  41. Blake_Bucsfan Says:

And Jason, it’s all about the angle. Decline bench targets your lower pecs and lats. Incline targets your upper pecs and shoulders. Flat bench might involve other muscle groups minorly, but its predominantly a chest excercise.

And Dalvin’s shoulder problems aren’t something currently effecting him, just a red flag that he needed multiple shoulder surgeries being so young.

  42. Buc1987 Says:

lol macabee when you read a few of his picks including ours, it seems he aligns players by what team they would best fit on.

Sorry NOS it looked a little silly…

No I’m not betting you mofo…

  43. Buc1987 Says:

Hamstring issues. That’s what I remember of Cook’s past injuries. ALWAYS having that thigh worked on mid-game. I know it is what it is, but it seemed to be a big problem for the kid.

  44. Poor Glennon Says:

I’ll buy the “everyone wants to come to Tampa”. When a player takes less money to come here. When we over pay them (like always) they re here for the money. Plain and simple

  45. SB Says:

I wonder if my Homie Nos liked this article. I just got here, so I haven’t read anything yet.

  46. macabee Says:

    Blake/87,

All mocks are laughable. Whenever I come across a pick of Cook, I post it for NosBos because he is a true believer in the pick. I have no preference at 19.

But take it from an old dude that’s followed the Bucs since Moby Dick was a sardine. lol.

See if the Bucs interview him at the Combine. Then go to Walterfootball to see if he is on the Bucs visit list. See if he is invited to OBP before the draft for a private visit. See If Licht or Keotter attends his pro day.

Licht says the draft board is set. If he’s on it. Some of those things will happen. Just my experience. There’s method to the madness!

  47. SB Says:

What Mac just said. That is Pre Combine and FA mind you. Mocks get MUCH better after both aforementioned are done.

  48. SB Says:

Cook has already met with Denver, Washington, Green Bay, San Francisco and Houston at the combine and has more scheduled Thursday and Friday. He said not every team has questioned him about his past but that it has come up “a pretty decent amount of times.”

  49. Nole on Sat.-Bucc on Sun. Says:

You know I’m lovin it SB.

  50. Nole on Sat.-Bucc on Sun. Says:

If I were interviewing him my first question would be “so your dream is to be a Buc huh”. Dalvin answers “yes”. End of interview.

  51. Back up kicker Says:

Please pass. WR or DE in the 1st round, RB in 3,4 or 5 that’s where the value will be.

  52. Blake_Bucsfan Says:

Ok so Christian McCaffrey is much smaller than expecIted. 5’11 202. Probably drops him into the second round.

Cook measured in at 5’10 210.

  53. Trubucfan22 Says:

NOS BOS, I’ll take a bet. Your screen name. If Dalvin is not a buc you must get a new screen name. Something like “Buccaneer Princess” would suffice. We can negotiate on that if you want. Same thing would go for me, change my screen name to whatever we decide if Dalvin is drafted by the Bucs.

  54. Chris@Apple Roof Cleaning Says:

LOL, all we need is a pic of Cook coming out of Publix with some Crab Legs under his arm.

  55. Destinjohnny Says:

    Great great 3rd down back

  56. ARGH_M8E Says:

Ohhhhhhh dang!!!!!! He didn’t pass the KOBE eye test pfffffffffff, ur $hittin me right?! I shouldn’t take the bait, never mind.

  57. Buccaneer Bonzai Says:

Cook should tell the Bucs that if they agree to take him, he will make sure a story ‘slips’ out from one of his friends about him doing drugs or something two days before the draft so he falls.

Then after the draft, it will be discovered the story is not true.

  58. Nole on Sat.-Bucc on Sun. Says:

    That’s a bet 22☺.

  59. Joeypoppems Says:

McCaffrey was listed at 6 foot 201. How is 5′ 11″ 202 smaller than expected? Lol

  60. Mike Evans GOAT Says:

Guys, it is just sinking in that the combine drills start tomorrow. Should I skip work? Lol

  61. tmaxcon Says:

McCaffery is not the type of player the bucs are looking for. Players that skip a game and let their teammates down over fear of an injury is not the type of player that will mesh well with Jameis, Kown and Brate . McCaffery is not a tough football player and Koetter has said hundreds of times they want tough guys who love football that is not a prima dona like McCaffery. Plus the bucs wasted a first round pick on an average small corner who is going to spend the next 7 years getting torched by Julio Jones and Benjamin twice a year. No need to waste another pick.

  62. Joeypoppems Says:

To be fair who doesn’t Julio Jones torch? Lol

  63. Blake_Bucsfan Says:

Joey I guess you’re right, probably just a mental thing, for some reason a 5’11 guy seems smaller in my mind than somebody ove 6 foot.

Lol, it’s probably the internet. There’s this meme on fitness and health boards that anybody under 6 foot tall is a manlet XD.

  64. FuNkYxMuNkEy Says:

    Tmax

You are wrong about McCaff he is really strong. Most of his runs are inside the tackles. He has speed, agility, the ability to catch out of the backfield, the ability to line up in the slot, and has good strength. He would be a steal at #19. You don’t get the numbers he has without skill and desire.

Skipping the game was a bad idea. Other than that he is a stud. Sign me up at #19

  65. Trubucfan22 Says:

Ok nosbos, it’s on. With Joe as our witness.

  66. FuNkYxMuNkEy Says:

We have a chance to fix our D in free agency. With Poe, Addison from Carolina, and Cyprien we could focus the entirety of the draft on offense . Expect for a CB somewhere in there. Throw in Kenny Stills and/or Robert Woods and we would really be set for the draft.

We could make a move like trading up in the 1st for Cook if we sign the right guys first. Really excited to see what Licht does in free agency. We have to be aggressive this off-season if we want Jameis to continue to develope the right way.

  67. Mike Evans GOAT Says:

    Funkeymonkey
Yeah McCaffery is really strong. 10 reps at 250 strong. Lol
    Hard no to McCaffery

  68. Blake_Bucsfan Says:

Mike bench really isnt a super important metric for running backs and receivers. Running backs rely on core/ lower body strength to make their paycheck.

Its nice to do well on the bench, but it’s not going to make or break a guys career.

  69. Mike Evans GOAT Says:

    http://larrybrownsports.com/college-football/christian-mccaffrey-white-running-back-stereotype/284479
No most of his runs don’t come between the tackles. He is NOT a physical runner. Game is based on speed. His words not mine.

  70. Rod Munch Says:

Not going to happen – he’s not falling that far and the Bucs would be nuts to trade up to get him when they need help everywhere. Marlon Mack should be there in the 3rd round and I think he’d be a great pick-up for the Bucs. We will see what Mack does at the combine but if he puts up a strong 40 and shows better than expected agility, he could quickly rise up into the 2nd – he has the look, size and running style of a NFL runner that should put up big numbers if starts. We shall see on Mack, but with lots of RBs out there this year the Bucs shouldn’t be trying to trade-up when they need so much help at WR and S and needs tons of depth on the o-line and in the secondary. Also assuming the Bucs keep Martin around this will be an odd numbered year, that means great things from Martin and I think he’s going to come back ready to go and to be a huge big-time player, for at least this odd numbered year anyways. Personally I think the worst thing that could happen would be for Martin to get cut then go and put up 1600 yards in Carolina.

  71. Back up kicker Says:

Lol McCaffery??? 200 lb. white running back. Um no, he’s a 2nd rounder at best. In a draft this deep in RB’s it would be disappointing if we went RB in the first. Do you homework get a stud later on.

  72. kobe Faker Says:

Can some of the regulars / old time posters here tell these newbie posters who Kobe Faker is.

Im guessing the 2 not joes didnt setup the filtering inthe posting section. I dont want women , under 19 years old and newbies with less than 20 posts to read my posts….im guessing i will be dealing with another year of Kobe haters….bring it

  73. Blake_Bucsfan Says:

    @Mike Evans Goat

All he said was that he didnt fit the mold of a stereotypical white running back. That he wasn’t another big up the middle guy.

Not to split hairs or try and beef with you, but there is a big difference between up the middle, and between thr tackles. And Christian does run between the tackles with great vision and quickness.

  74. FuNkYxMuNkEy Says:

    Goat

Watch his film. He can handle the pressure. He will be a stud just wait and see. I would prefer Corey Davis to slip which is possible if he runs a slow 40 time. I’m more interested in free agency right now. Our board will be based off the success or lack thereof success, hopefully Licht kills it.

  75. Nole on Sat.-Bucc on Sun. Says:

So Fournette shows up to the combine 5lbs over his playing weight. His explanation-I drank alot of water before the weigh inn. This guy. Blake he was your first choice right.

  76. Dougyballs Says:

Kobeyflaker and tmaxipad are both idiot$ There hate and ignorants are stupid. post something worth reading. Lots of talent in this draft worth talking about but we instead get to roll through the comments to see your $hit spit from your mouth

  77. USFBUC Says:

McCaffrey only putting up 10 reps of 225 seems off, did he tweak his shoulder while doing the bench because that’s pretty weak.

Just like ur pipe dream that we will get budda baker in the 2nd round
    ——————————————

OK smart guy – show me someone besides you who is currently projecting Baker into the 1st round.

Here’s what I see from the so called experts whose job it is to figure out where these players coming out are likely to be drafted –

    – Walter Football – Mocking Baker to be drafted 73rd (3rd rd) by the Bengals.

    – SB Nation has Baker mocked to the Redskins at #49 (Bucs pick #50).

    – Fox Sports has Baker mocked to N.O. at #42.

    – Draftwire has him mocked #33 to the Browns (almost 1st rd)

    – NFL.com also mocks Baker at #33 to Cleveland

    – DraftSite.com has Budda mocked to the Bucs at #50

    – DraftTek has Baker mocked to the Browns at #52 (with Bucs taking Utah Safety Marcus Williams at #50)

    – EDSFootball has Budda mocked to Chicago at #36

    – Draftblaster has Budda nocked to the Titans at #69 (3rd rd)

    – DraftUtopia has Baker mocked at #52 to Cleveland

Every Mock I look at currently has Budda Baker mocked somewhere in the 2nd round and a few say 3rd round.

If Baker runs a 4.45 40 at the combine will his stock go up? Yea – Probably.

If the measuring tape reads 5-9 instead of 5-10 or if the scales say 185 instead of 195 could his stock go down from a current average of mid 2nd round? Probably

As of now though – its hardly a stretch to believe that Budda Baker could be available for the Bucs in the 2nd round – especially if JL loves the kid’s potential like I do and is willing to move up some in the 2nd for him.

  79. USFBUC Says:

Fournette showing up with a few extra pounds hurts us getting Cook. Nobody wants the next Eddie Lacy.

I did just run another draft sim though and Cook fell to 19, took Brantley in the second, and Smith-Schuster in the third

  81. Mike Evans GOAT Says:

    Picjgrin
Obviously SMART GUY, I have clearly stated to you in previous post that he was gonna blow this combine up and is one of the fastest risers in this draft.

  82. Mike Evans GOAT Says:

3 names that went from 2nd or 3rd round to 1st because of the combine
    Karl Joseph
    Keano Neal
    Byron Jones
Notice all are DBs who preformed well at the combine
The guy won’t be there. Trust me

  83. Joeypoppems Says:

Luke Easterling has been mocking Budda Baker to the Bucs in round 1 for weeks now

  84. Eric Says:

DOES ANYBODY REALIZE THERE IS A VERY VERY GOOD CHANCE THE PANTHERS TAKE YOUR DREAMBOY? DALVIN COOK TO CAROLINA. I’M CALLING IT NOW!

  85. Bucko40 Says:

Bucs fans should know by now that what Winston wants. Winston gets. He gotten a coach fired, a kicker drafted well before he should’ve of. Now it looks like the Bucs will bring in one of Winston’s cohorts in crime from FSU. Anyone else seeing a horrible pattern here?

  86. Mike Evans GOAT Says:

    Bucko 40
    Cohorts is crime???^^^^^^
Please explain. He was with JW3 for one year at FSU.

  87. Crimson_Flag 304 Says:

Jameis Winston + Roberto Aguayo + Dalvin Cook is a FSU reunion minus Kelvin Benjamin.

I hope Carolina draft Leonard Fournette, but that’s a reach of that happens. Jacquizz and Dalvin as the thunder and lightening set; Jameis throwing bombs to Mike and DeSean; Cameron hopefully Humphries or another TE threatening the inside; and beefing up the defense. Licht better make this happen. Because there were too many Panther fans that turned into a Falcon fan last season.
