NFL Helps Bucs Fans In New Orleans

December 12th, 2016
Helps Bucs revelers.

Helps Bucs revelers.

Bucs fans traveling to New Orleans on Christmas Weekend to watch the Bucs-Saints game, the NFL is doing you a solid!

There is no road trip in the NFL like New Orleans. With its five-star restaurants, fantastic museums and best of all, the French Quarter and Bourbon Street just a 20-minute walk away from the Superdome, the Big Easy is a must-experience road venue for any serious NFL fan, much less a Bucs fan.

One doesn’t even need to like alcohol to have a wonderful time in New Orleans. It is one of Joe’s favorite cities in America, and yes, as usual, Joe will be there to cover the team.

Anyone who has experienced Bourbon Street on a Friday night knows the struggle the next morning afternoon is. That’s one reason why so many establishments in New Orleans have top-shelf Bloody Marys. Gotta get ready for the next night.

As any Bucs fan who has been to New Orleans can state with experience, getting only a few hours (minutes?) of sleep prior to going to the game can be troublesome, especially when you factor in kickoffs are often at noon in the Central time zone. That doesn’t help.

Enter Roger Goodell to the rescue.

The NFL has flexed the Bucs-Saints game to a 4:25 p.m. kickoff on Christmas Eve, 3:25 p.m. New Orleans time. This will allow Bucs fans who travel to the game to nap before getting juiced for what will be a critical fight for a playoff spot.

Thank you, Mr. Goodell! Next Crown-and-water is on Joe!

I just don’t understand the appeal of Bourbon St. It smells like a sewer down there. But yes, the restaurants are really good in N.O.

LOVE that city! (Hate that team though!)

There are far better places for food, drinks, and definitely music that are not on Bourbon St. to be honest. (Many are still in the French Quarter).

  9. Jc tree Says:

Is this game nationally televised ?

  10. rrsrq Says:

Uggghhhh, I was good to go at 1:00, but the father-in-law has his annual Christmas Eve dinner at 6:00. The wife has seven brothers & sisters, with all their kids and their kids kids. Too many people to be able to enjoy the game. Do I catch a cold and take one for the team and have to sleep in the doghouse,

  11. Brad Says:

That’s right unbelievable. Die hard transplanted to N.O. 10 years ago. Don’t waist your time on Bourbon Street. Come down to Frenchmen Street (Just off the FQ) that’s where real N.O. is at. I manage a few of the music clubs on the street. I’m going to set up something for my fellow Bucs fans in town that weekend. Will let u know on here soon.

  12. R.O. Says:

Amazing people dont understand how the TV schedule works… Just like this past game Just because its flexed to 4:25 doesn’t mean its a Nationally Televised game. There are 3 games that will be broadcasted on a Regional Basis. The 1 game the NFL probably was expecting to show to a majority of the country was Seahawks and Cards. Which obviously has lost some luster. it will between the Bucs/NO and Hawks/Cards to go to the Majority of the country with no team that is considered Regional. Also just find out which game Joe Buck and Troy Aikman will be calling and that will be considered the #1 game. No one cares about 49er’s and Rams. My guess it will be TB/NO.

Hey Brad, I love me some Frenchmen St!

Blue Nile, d.b.a., Maison…. so may good music spots, not to mention other greats like Howlin Wolf and Tipitina’s

  14. Lord Cornelius Says:

New Orleans is a great city to visit and my wife’s favorite place basically.

We don’t do Bourbon St though typically (even though we are definitely drinking people that party hard). We enjoy the food, the french quarter, the jazz music, seeing some concerts, etc. Architecture is old and cool too

  15. Cover Deuce Says:

Everyone talks about the quarter, but it’s just a stinky, crowded, over-priced tourist trap. There’s so much to see and do all over the city. Go down to Magazine, find a local neighborhood bar, go see some dope live music on Frenchmen Street. Hell there’s even Audubon and City Parks. But don’t spend all your hard earned money, or your time in the quarter when there’s a big beautiful city for you to experience.

N’olins is spit hole. The whole place smells like 200 yr old vomit, pi$$ and bad body odor. You couldn’t pay me enough to back to that dump.

rrsrq, just do what I did when I couldn’t be in front of a TV during the Oakland game. I had my buddy who is a Raiders fan FaceTime me and stick his iPad in front of his TV for 3 hours! You gotta do what you gotta do! The Bears game I had to listen to on internet radio at http://radio.securenetsystems.net/v5/WWJB. 103.9 FM, 1450 AM. Good luck.

Oh wow… this stinks. I love late-afternoon games in general, but on Christmas Eve? Family always gets together around 7pm, which means being on the road by 6pm. Oh well – this year I’ll be late.
