Third Down = Bucs Down

November 27th, 2016
Strong on third down.

Strong on third down.

There is no more important down in football than third down.

On offense, if you convert third downs, it means you are moving the ball and eating up the clock and keeping your defense off the field.

On defense, if you get stops on third down, you get off the field, give the ball back to your offense and conserve valuable energy for later in the game. That’s something a previous Bucs coach never figured out (Hi Lovie! *waves hand*).

In recent weeks, third down has been otherwise known as “Bucs Down.” On offense and defense, the Bucs have been getting the job done, as multimedia maven Scott Smith of Buccaneers.com documents.

[The] Buccaneers currently have the best differential in the league between their third down rates on offense and defense. Tampa Bay’s offense is converting third downs at a 45.4% rate while its defense is allowing conversion only 35.8% of the time. That’s a differential of 9.6 percentage points, which is well ahead of second-place Tennessee (8.6).

This is a good sign, a very good sign. And today, the Bucs need to be their best self on Bucs Down.

Get off the field on defense and keep the chains moving on offense. On Bucs Down.

Excellent article by Scott Smith. There is hope for the playoffs after all.

  2. Kobe Faker Says:

Still like more playaction passing on 1st and 2nd second down

Great production by jameis on 3rd down but the stat is also stating that fat dougie isnt rushing and moving the chains running 1st and 2nd down and putting jameis in this predicament

Need alot of quizz and hope fat dougie doesnt get a bruised virginia like keyshaun jackson

Quizz cutbacks are more productive and screens to quizz please

    @Kobe
I don’t think you have a single brain cell. Yes quizz has had a decent few games, but to even think he is a better back than Doug is ludicrous– Doug’s worst year is better than Quizz’s best. I don’t even think you are a Buc’s fan as nothing positive ever comes out of your mouth…this site would be much better off without your negativity….

  4. Jeagan1999 Says:

This may be the MOST important game the Bucs have played in the last 3-5 years! A win against a ver y good Seattle team….coming right after a win on the road against a very good Kansas City team….will give the Bucs a springboard to go after the division title, not to mention, the confidence they need to PROVE that they can play with ANY team in the NFL!

Today you do whatever you have to do to win!

Grace, kobe doesnt believe women should be allowed in a mans game like football except holding pom poms

Like all real men, we cringe when women try to talk football among us

    Grace, whats for dinner?

    Is the laundry finished yet?

I considered posting under the username “Kobe STFU”, but that would probably only encourage him.

So instead, Kobe, do us all a favor and STFU. Grace is correct. Also Id love to see you mouth off that way to my woman. She’d knock you the f@ck out for some BS like that.

  8. gracelivin Says:

    Kobe,

Your wrong on the gender, and I’ve forgotten more football then you’ll ever know. I have tried to show grace to you but enough negativity is enough. Is there a single player you like? You need to grow up and become a real man not a faker.

  9. Bird Says:

    Reverse jinx

… And the Bucs held the Seahawks to 1 for 11 on 3rd downs. Wow, this article was very timely.
