Is Jameis’ Knee “Great?”

November 6th, 2016
Frightening.

Frightening.

Bucs fans had a stroke Thursday night when America’s Quarterback, Pro Bowler Jameis Winston, was blown up and suffered a knee injury trying to score on a meaningless two-point conversion.

Joe watched Jameis walk into the locker room in the bowls of the Den of Depression and he seemed fine. In his postgame presser, Jameis was adamant that he felt “great.” (Jameis also told Joe he did not talk to any of the Bucs legends who attended the game to honor John Lynch as his number was retired. This photo taken by a Buccaneers official photographer suggests otherwise.)

While Jameis said Thursday night his knee was “great” — and performed a dance for reporters to prove it — longtime Bucs beat guy Woody Cummings, typing for Florida Football Insiders, had a fantastic thought that may make Bucs fans start their NFL Sunday guzzling a bit earlier than normal.

Vincent Jackson too felt fine after the win in Charlotte last month.

Remember a few weeks ago, wide receiver Vincent Jackson finished a game at Carolina looking and supposedly feeling fine. It was discovered later, however, that he had suffered a season-ending knee injury. So Bucs fans, keep your fingers crossed.

This is something to monitor tomorrow when the Bucs resume practices at One Buc Palace. We all have likely done something physically untoward and felt OK if not great, until we woke up the next morning to realize we don’t feel so great.

Jameis probably meant that he didn’t have a conversation with them. A quick handshake wouldn’t count in his mind. I hope he is ok.

  2. SeanyMac in SC Says:

You know whats worse than losing the game…..losing 1st string starters during garbage time when the game is out of hand. HC needs to protect the key players during garbage time.

  3. WhatdaBUCisthis Says:

I’m telling u… It happened vs Arizona. They broke him, mentally. When he walked to the bench, he looked like he wanted to cry. He was so frustrated. Everyone wants to win.. the great ones HATE to lose. He’s in the latter I believe. At least he can be.
While it’s true this season is done, BUCS need to be seriously planning a F/A period unlike any other. Can we convince true talent to come play with #3.
    @joe
Can we get coach Shiano in here as our D coach
    Cmon BUCS

  4. Defense Rules Says:

No such word as “meaningless” to Jameis. He’s young but he’s a great competitor … Every play is critical to him. Eventually that’ll rub off on the rest of this team.

  5. Bucnut2 Says:

I want’ worried, he’s not playing much better than MG right now. The jury is on out on this guy. He has clearly regressed and looks Freeman with a better work ethic.

  6. JM Says:

His knee is as great as his accuracy…

  7. The Buc Realist Says:

Feeling “fine” at age 22 is a worlds different then feeling “fine” at almost 34 years of age!!!!!!!!!!

  8. DallasBuc Says:

Is JBF Jason Licht Kool Ale great?

  9. DelawareBucsfan Says:

Here these clowns go. Bucnutsinmymouth. Let’s go Jameis. Make these people eat crap. Just like they did last year.

  10. DelawareBucsfan Says:

Why freeman? Because he’s black donald trump? I don’t see any comparisons between the two. Don’t bring that racist stuff up in here

  11. Tampa Tony Says:

Then if Koetter sits the starters the media will complain he’s quitting or raising the white flag. Can’t have it both ways

  12. Buccaneer scotty Says:

Doesn’t really matter who starts at quarterback it will all turn out the same thing another loosing season! We only have a handful of NFL players on this team and the rest are backups and most of them couldn’t get on a practice team we just don’t have enough NFL talent on this team same old story every year period!

  13. LakeLandBuc Says:

Tampa Tony….He don’t have to sit the starters, they gonna sit themselves. They stinks, they smells, they are awful. The Yucs are the worst team in the NFL. People talk about Cleveland, but Cleveland isn’t paying Bums, millions of dollars to wear dress clothes to the games. This team don’t have a clue, they are a piss-poor franchise.

  14. LakeLandBuc Says:

I have nothing good to say about this team, there is nothing good about this team. They beat 1 win teams and fans are talking playoffs, most fans are a bigger joke than the team. I wouldn’t piss on Bucs tickets, if they were on fire. It don’t matter if Jameis play or not, they will still stink the field. That’s what they do, that’s what they are great at ( crapping the field ).

  15. BigHogHaynes Says:

@ Buccaneer scotty: talent is what I been saying all the time, ILLINOIS, ILLINOIS, ILLINOIS: ha ha ha ha ha ha, GOOD MORNING TMAXCON…….you too REALIST!!! Ha ha ha ha! 9 games to play with 6 games to win to show improvement over the last REGIME! Ha ha ha ha! GO BUCS GO COLIN STEP/UP AMERICA!!

  16. Supersam Says:

Can we give Dallas McCoy,David, Sweezy, Shorts, And Aguyao for Romo??

  17. Chris Says:

Big Hog must be fun to be around

  18. BigHogHaynes Says:

All of that for BAD BACK ROMO? Oooo ok you were kidding!

  19. Buccaneer scotty Says:

Can we please stop calling him America’s QB ! What a sad joke that is

  20. The Buc Realist Says:

    @bighogheinous

of course the talent needs to improve!!! But its closer than some are making it out to be!!!! The problem was coach my scheme was selecting players, using an outdated scheme, and being incompetent in everything except high draft picks!!!!

We are only 8 games into cleaning up the mess that Dom/lovie had years in the making!!!!

another good draft and we might have a “real” core of players for the Bucs!!!! Then they need to grow into their prime!!!! It will not work when all of your consistent/best players are in their 1st, 2nd and 3rd year!!!!!

The Buc Realist has issued a three year pass to fix the disaster of Dom/Lovie!!!! I want to see a winner as bad as anyone!!! But to overcome all those mistakes we need to stay the course with the rookie Head Coach!!! And now that we have the “Right” coaches in place, we just need to fix the roster!!!!!!

    Go Bucs!!!!!!!

  21. DB55 Says:

Don’t worry guys (I use that term loosely) Jameis only has another year and a half before he goes to a real team with real fans.

Not his fault he’s the best in his class and got chosen number 1 overall by this chit face org. And Evans will be right behind him.

Then you can commence eating the a$$ of the power puff girl himself. You people disgust me. You don’t deserve Jameis he should just go ahead and go on IR now. You people aren’t worth the effort.

  22. SteveK Says:

    Big hog,

Are our tears blending together? Bc last time I checked Locke won 2 games in year one.

Koetter needs to win six more games out of the next 24 to best Lovie’s Buccaneer record.

At least get your sh!t right. You come across as a phucking idiot.

  23. SteveK Says:

    Are your years*

  24. SteveK Says:

Lovie won 2 games his first year.

  25. WhatdaBUCisthis Says:

    BigHog
Listen, it is hard to fix what Lovie did to this teams mental make up. Real talk he screwed them. I for one am tired of changing coaches..bruh, doesn’t matter the skin color. I only want wins. Hell I wanted us to sign Greg Hardy at one point..I don’t care who coaches or plays for the BUCS. WIN some games!!!!!!

  26. WhatdaBUCisthis Says:

    Also
You seem like a real ass when u come out of hiding… You were nowhere to b found when we won two in row. Quiet as a church mouse
Your complaints are invalid at this point clown

  27. Buccaneer scotty Says:

    Clown lives matter

  28. WhatdaBUCisthis Says:

    Lol this^^^^

  29. Doctor Stroud Says:

Even with a bad knee, I get the impression that America’s (2nd Most Hated) Game-Manager QB Jameis Winston wouldn’t allow the coaches to shut him down for the rest of the season. With a 3-5 record and a “complaining” fan base, he probably thinks that the team is not out of the playoff hunt just yet. I like his competitive spirit, but will it be enough?

  30. tmaxcon Says:

    Bighog

I’ll say one thing at least the fighting illini have a fan now even if he is a ignorant racist like yourself. People in Illinois don’t care about illini Bighog it’s a completely irrelevant college football program a perfect match for the irrelevant fraud Lovie Smith… Olney, IL white squirles have a larger fan base than the Dean of cursing and his fighting illini

  31. Poor Glennon Says:

#3 CAN NOT BE CONSISTANT FOR 60 MIN. Just like Freeman. The day Freeman choked in a home game vs Philly. Foles won the game late. I think it was the Eagles 2nd or 3rd win of the year. Was the day i gave up on him. Alot of the denile and excuses you Winston lovers have. Are the same as Freeman. When he threw for 4000 yards. Thats all you guys focus on. Freeman had a way way better year his second year. Was alot more deserving of a pro bowl than Winstons rookie season. Winston is 22, Freeman was 21 when he had 25TD/6INT. Won 10 games (thats minimal garbage time). Passing yards mean jack squat. John Kitna could throw for 5000 yards. But the fact is he threw pics and lost alot of games. So you guys still keep clinging to those passing yardage totals. Us real Buc realists will stick with real win/loss stats comp% turnovers. Plus at the end of the day. Its all situational. Didn’t Doug Williams lead this team to NFC championship with a 41% completion percentage. Now thats just making plays at the right time.

  32. tmaxcon Says:

    DB55

Is right. You anti Jameis losers don’t deserve a winner. I hope 3 tells this pathetic franchise to shove it and wins a superbowl and a world series ring elsewhere. Jameis is the least of this sad excuse for a football organization problems. I still find it hilarious all the blame get tossed at a 22 yr 2nd year player who has been a model citizen on and off the field yet the teams highest paid so called stars are disappearing each and every week. Jameis is not the one going all beotch on all fours giving up the booty to any one that walks on the field that would be LVD and GMC

  33. Doctor Stroud Says:

I try not to be an “anti Jameis loser” or a “Winston lover”. All I know is based on past experience going back to his days at FSU, we shouldn’t count him out. He shouldn’t be asked to put the team on his shoulders at this point in his career because he is still developing, but those are the expectations as a #1 overall pick. He seems to embrace this role so far. Is that enough to help the team win?

  34. chipbuc Says:

If anyone thinks that Winston is the problem on this team is just a hater. Just ask 25 or so teams in the league if they could take Winston off our hands and watch the stampede. People on this board who constantly dog him are clueless haters!!!!

  35. Mojiska Says:

Look his stats projected over the year and compare it to last year. His yards per attempt are down, but his touchdowns per attempt are way up, and his int per attempt are almost exactly the same as last year.

His stats since denver have been very encouraging. 9:1 td to int ratio and making much smarter plays overall. Accuracy isn’t terrific, but he is not making as many bad reads. I’m actually really encouraged with the direction he is heading. Everyone else (not named evans) not so encouraging.

  36. Dewey Selmon Says:

1 1/2 seasons and #3 is halfway to the franchise mark for td passes. Keep slingin it Jameis.

  37. BucsFan90 Says:

His knee may be fine now but injuries add up. Dont be surprised if hes forced to sit out the rest of the season. How many times have we seen the refs turn a blind eye on him inside the pocket? I lost track of the late hits, helmet to helmet, going for the knee, getting speared in the back after play was over etc. Guess QB protection was only meant for white qbs

  38. Chucklehead & The Slumpbusters Says:

I get the feeling there are some turds round here that would wish injury on young Jameis so they can see Capt Checkdown play a little more.

  39. AtlBucFanDan Says:

    PREDICTION:

JW will sit out of their next practice as a “precaution.” Prepare to see more MG

  40. LakeLandBuc Says:

It really don’t matter who the QB is, if they bring Tom Brady to this team, they will still win 5 games max.

  41. Buc1987 Says:

You’re right DB…but the telling thing is they hardly EVER comment about anything else. Just Jameis.

    Keep that in mind.

  42. jj Says:

We give up 29 points avg/game, but this season is Jameis’ fault. Hater Gators can’t get over the a$$ beatings.

    Jameis 2015 through 8 games 10 TDs, 7 ints 1895 yards, 58.9% comp
    2016 through 8 games 17 TDs, 9 ints 2037 yards, 59.2% comp

    Same Record 3-5

    Where is the regression?
He has 1 NFL receiver, no NFL speed at all at WR and no NFL running backs, His Left tackle is not playing well and neither is his right tackle. He is getting hurried or hit on every pass. What the hell is he supposed to do?

  43. James Walker Says:

Should every article be about the 2017 draft now?

  44. BigHogHaynes Says:

@SteveK: this is how I looks at it, you are correct, LOVIE did win 2 games, absolutely unacceptable for a coach with his experience, but we do realize that the team he came into was blown-up, after the draft and free agency, we came away with some talent, some free agents didn’t work out, plus no pass rushing defensive end. During LOVIE’S second year we added more talent, only won 6 games even tho that was a positive it wasn’t enough, and we still had no pass rushing defensive end, now we have this NEW FANDANGO ALL/WORLD STAFF, added some more talent thru the draft and free agency (that the jury is still out on)! So why expect less than a 9 win season. My question
If LOVIE had been retained, do you think we would have drafted a kicker, when the DEFENCE needed so much work!
But hey we still have ALL/POWER LICHT!? “Never been an idiot” @TMAXCON: Don’t talk about the people of Illinois like that….so disrespectful!!

  45. The Buc Realist Says:

    @Bighogheinous

coach my scheme (IF) retained for 1 more desperate year. would have traded the whole draft for Jadeveon Clowney!!! Who would have played for a couple of games and then would be on IR!!! The Schedule would still be one of the hardest in the NFL and Lovie would be 1-7 at this point in the season!!!! The locker room would have tuned the incompetent one out, And The Nfl GM Jason Licht would now be starting to look for New Head Coaches, ( though he would have been looking before the first game was played this season!!!!)

So BigFraudhaynes, while you expected 9 wins, in truth he would have won 1-3, and left the franchise in worse shambles than he did!!!!!

Luckily, the owners saw how bad the incompetent one is at his job, and now we are a year ahead and less of a mess to clean up!!!!! This year is about seeing who can play and what players can be salvaged by coaching the lovie out of them!!!!!!!

Come on bighogheinous!!! no shout out to your favorite player colin kinte, who the Bucs knocked some sense into him and asked him his name in the 4th quarter, and he said his name was “toby”!!!!

It closer to becoming a good team around here than you think!!!!!!

    Go America!!!!!

    And GO BUCS!!!!!!!

  46. Bucnole850 Says:

    Jameis at practice moot story…

  47. Greg Schiano Says:

Excuses are like people commenting. I really hate to involve politics with football, but the same issue is constantly raised. You complain about the play or win record of the President, you are a racist. If we are critical of “America’s QB” we must somehow be haters or racists. While I choke when Jose’ calls famous Porky a “Pro Bowl QB,” which bears in mind he was the 3rd alternate to the 4 starters who did not show at the Pro Bowl.

While I do not share the belief this is all #3’s fault, you have to admit he has been out played by QB’s that went in the 3rd round, 4th round, & 6th round who have less experience/playing time. Good coaches will win with any player you give them. Jose’s pal Belichick has won with 3 different QB’s. He could come to Tampa and win with the 53 man roster currently here.

Anyone who has bought tickets to watch the Buc’s has the right to their opinion without name calling and nasty words. I stopped buying those season tickets when Jose’s boy Lovie intentionally lost the last game to the Saints so he could get the #1 pick and then chose the wrong QB.

    Greg Schiano

  48. Shane Says:

You have to admit the QBs that have played better have had excellent OL play.
The fact that Jameis is putting up the points he is is pretty astonishing.
