Welcome Back, Mike James

Mike James returns to center stage?

It was a very unhappy day around One Buc Palace and at JoeBucsFan.com world headquarters when well-liked running back Mike James was cut after getting hurt in August.

James, a Tampa Bay sixth-round pick in 2013, had a solid training camp and preseason, and he was pegged to be this year’s No. 3 running back. But the injury got him released. He wouldn’t have been ready for opening day, so the Bucs passed.

After a three-week, October stint on the Lions practice squad, James is coming home, per BSPN’s Jeremy Fowler.

Remember, Jacquizz Rodgers messed up his foot/ankle in yesterday’s game, and Doug Martin has been laid up for six weeks (and counting) with a nasty hamstring.

Will James get a shot to walk in off the street and be the No. 1 running back? Joe suspects James will get his share of touches as Dirk Koetter searches/prays for a hot hand to emerge among Antone Smith, Jameis and rookie Peyton Barber.

Joe is a huge James fan. Good luck, Mike!

I take it that this signing isn’t good news for Jacquizz.

  2. Dusthty Rhothdes Says:

Mike James when given the chance has always run hard, I think it was that collapse of game against seattle and he ran up and down the field on them, and bucs lose at end….

  3. 813bucboi Says:

that’s good to hear…I like his running style….he should come in and help….

it sure sounds like doug may require surgery….I know a hammy can take some time to heal but damn….I’ve gone on record saying I think we have the worse medical staff in the league….from the staff infection, to misdiagnosing players injuries, to not getting players back from injury in a timely manner, I say we go out and draft some medical guys….GO BUCS!!!!

  4. Kobe Faker Says:

Yes! 2015 reunion! old school revival for thursday night football at the RJS!

Lets go all out for thursday night 2015 revival and have George Warhol (fatter lovie) walking down the sidelines. Give him a unplugged headset and watch him talking to himself like old times

Tears of joy is flowing down my keyboard

    Kobe is struck with emotion

  5. SB with Jameis Says:

I will NOT take the Bucs on my Pickem again this yr. #real$hit

  6. BucinJAX Says:

Hooray! Hope he’s in at least some football shape.

  7. mike10 Says:

This is the best news I’ve heard all day!!

  8. Chris Says:

Why do people have to say. “I’m on record saying” WTF do you want for that? An award?

  9. ElioT Says:

    Eh…

How good of game-shape can James be in?

Smith and Barber are going to have to get it done against the Dirty Birds.

Not that it matters, Matty Ice (gayest nick name in pro sports – no offense to LGBTs) and Julio are going to destroy this beat-up, reeling, lost defense and put this game out of reach real quick.

Jameis has a better chance to attempt 60 passes then we do getting 30 rushes on Thursday night.

Glad I won’t be watching it.

When allowing him to run behind first team he produces!! Let’s go Mike , let’s see if it’s our turn to have a story of a guy signing a few days before and blowing up in a game.

Great move guys got good vision

Now let’s get a receiver and let’s blitz once in a while

  11. LifeOfABucFan Says:

Now Bucs..go bring back Kourtnei Brown..and this time KEEP him and quit playing with his head..

  12. BucinJAX Says:

Chris, that’s just jerks saying “I told you so”, and thinking we are too stupid to still recognize them. But, we still know who they are, don’t we. I believe it is a sub-form of inferiority complex. Remember, you may have read it here first.

  13. Chris Says:

Yeah, exciting news. A rb seven years into the league , coming back from an injury. Tomorrow, the world .

  14. Getaclue Says:

Well I was just beating the drum for this this morning. He’s better than the backs we have on the roster.

  15. Chris Says:

Could not of said it any better. BucinJAX!

  16. Buccaneer Bonzai Says:

Problem with Mike James is he gets injured very easily. I don’t expect him to last an entire game if he ends up starting.

Two games if he is a backup.

  17. 813bucboi Says:

@chris….be pissed at the bucs and their incompetent staff…NOT ME….GO BUCS!!!!

  18. Buccaneers Says:

I had never been to a nighttime game and always wanted to go once. What a pity I have no interest in going to our stadium agian this year. Went to Rams game and makes me sick to even think about it………Ive been to 1-2 games the last five season and had been embarassed each and every time. Im not doing it again this year. Even if somebody hands me a free club seat and beer and food vouchers it just aint woth the agony and sheer shame. I hate the fact that Im a Bucs fan…………Why am I such a idiot and thought we could have a chance this year?…………..And ya know what Bucs, there have been many bad teams in this town……..But at least with most of those teams they played with some fire and were not embarassing to be a fan of. You guys got pushed around like women yesterday. I am so sorry to be a fan of you bums. Its not just abot how bad yall suck, its how big of b!tch$s you play like…….wish the summer olympics were still going so I could have a team with some real fire to cheer for(womens beach volleyball)

  19. Buccaneers Says:

The sad thing is Im not being sarcastic……you guys play like total b!tch$s. Not one guy, not a few……its all 53. So go collect your freaking checks and show up on Sundays with no fire. Maybe the other team will have no ability at all and yall can get a lucky bounce. Eiher way I wont care………I now expect nothing from you losers. And i wont be gettig frustrated anymore. Ill be laughing. How do yall feel that your own fans are laughing at you?

  20. BucinJAX Says:

Buccaneers, I can’t resist. About your team choice: if they do suck, it’s a bonus.

  21. Buc1987 Says:

I’m Mike James, don’t act like you don’t know the name
Ain’t nuttin changed but my change, I’mma stay the same

Ain’t nuttin changed but my change, I’mma stay the same

  22. Buc1987 Says:

Buccaneers…lol but you’re always so chipper..

Welcome to our side of the field buddy. 🙂

Stick around we’ll get through this together!

  23. iamabuc Says:

When we keep signing back players we had let go, are signs that we are going to keep sucking for years to come. To think we were all so pumped up for this season, and all of a sudden we look like a cluster of foxxk! It’s a Bucs life, for sure!

  24. James Walker Says:

Is Doug Martin still on the team?

  25. Chris Says:

James it’s that every other year hamstring thing. He’ll be good next year, or when this current contract is up

  26. CalBucsFan Says:

Glad to hear it, welcome back Mike!

  27. Tampabaybucfan Says:

If James was on the Detroit practice squad….he should be in game shape.

He knows the basic playbook and provides a different running style to the backs we have available….this was a no-lose deal.

We need to throw against Atlanta…..we need to score. Hopefully Jameis is up for prime time.

  28. Another J Says:

They should’ve never cut him, Welcome back!

  29. Buccfan37 Says:

I’d be surprised if the Bucs win another division game this season. The division opponents look better to me. The bad Bucs will struggle to reach 7 wins.

  30. Issic Haggins Says:

If Mike James gets 15 carries against Atlanta they will have a much better shot than if he doesn’t ……….. High risk for a fumble, false start from no game action yes……..but the guy gives it 110 percent ……….Thur 17 carries 108 yards and actually converts a fracking third and one for once, I hope anyway !!!

  31. Big HogHaynes Says:

I’m on the record saying James should have never been cut! Now where’s my AWARD! Welcome back MIKE!

  32. adam from ny Says:

the james train is here …toot toot!!!

    adam from ny

  33. KingBuc17 Says:

He was only cut because he was injured. He should split time with ASmith and Barber. If we dont use him right again then he will be on the shelf again. Win this game and get some of the fans we lost last week.
