“Protect The Football”

October 7th, 2016
"Protect the football."

Protection mode.

The message is clear. And it comes from none other than America’s Quarterback himself.

“Protect the football.”

How much has it been driven into Jameis Winston’s head? Consider his press conference yesterday. Jameis repeated various forms of this phrase over and over and over again, some 13 times.

Below is a video montage from Paul Ryan of WFLA-TV Channel 8. It includes every mention by Jameis yesterday of protecting the football.

I’m a huge supporter of Jameis, Koetter, Licht, all of them, and I know they’ll turn this around. But this rings hollow until we see it on the field.

  2. Onetrickpony Says:

Show us dont talk about it

  3. tdtb2015 Says:

Somebody needs to tell him to PROTECT THE FOOTBALL!

What are those coaches doing? lol

All this talk might get us the 1st pick on the draft again.

    Protect the Football

  4. DallasBuc Says:

Nobody is talking about the fact that probably half of his turnovers are on his subpar receivers and overrated Sims. Too many blind spots when it comes to the highly critical performance of Winston and I’m getting tired of it not being reported fairly.
    Don’t ban me.

  5. Bucwylde Says:

    LMAO @ DallasBuc

    “Don’t ban me.”

  6. Rob Says:

America’s Protector of the Football, Jameis Winston, realizes that Aqib Talib was traded a few years ago and apologizes for hitting him in the numbers for what he thought were completions, but were actually game changing interceptions lol.

  7. Conte Piscateli Says:

I really don’t want to hear all this protect the ball garbage. Might as well put Captain Checkdown in then, and expect 3 and out and 21-6 losses. Guess what a loss is a loss doesn’t matter how many points. This team is not good enough to play it safe and beat anyone. Teams with more talent can do that. Look at our 1 win this year, the offense was aggressive and hit some big plays. Without those big passes to ME13 & ASJ we are 0-4 right now. Let Winston keep pushing the ball down field, I believe he is learning more with the mistakes than any successes. These losses and rough games for him will benefit us in the long run as long as he doesn’t lose that aggressiveness. Does anybody really want to go back to the days of throwing 5yrd check downs on 3rd and 8?

  8. BucFan20 Says:

^ He will be the first one to rename Jameis If he does throw short and checks down because he is told to.

  9. Jolly Bucs Fan Says:

I know Jameis has one more pick than at this point last season, but people need to realize the Defenses we faced this year are the best in the league.

Against the Falcons we were fine, but the Cards, Rams, and Broncos? What QB wont throw INTs against those teams if hes expected to play with 0 run game and throw the ball 40+ times.

Not to mention, at least 3 of his INTs in those games arent his fault.

Against the Broncos were really the first INTs where I could truly say they were on Jameis.

  10. bucballya Says:

Aybe we should let him be Tampas QB before try to proclaim him as Americas Qb

  11. Newbucsfan2 Says:

Protect the football but please don’t play scared.

  12. Negative Jeff Says:

If this team goes into checkdown mode they will get stomped. The Bucs will overreact and JW will be running WR screens all day and one will turn into a pick 6. Let Winston throw the ball. Boys and Girls – this team is 3 drafts away from being competitive. JW by year 5 will be ready to make the playoffs. He’s ready today. No talent around him thanks to our GM.

  13. DB55 Says:

That PC was a damn shame. Monkin having to come out and sell the media on supporting the young qb. “The constant beat down isn’t going to help.” What a find most funny is that most if not all of his critics couldn’t get on a basketball court much less play football. TB is so desperate it’s a shame.

Sometimes I wish GMCs played qb so all could be right in the world.

  14. BigStinky Says:

STOP saying it and just protect it then. If you were protecting it we would be 2-2 and possibly 3-1 right now. Winston should have learned his lesson after the Arizona game but here we are talking about it again. Go BUCS!
