Bucs Won’t Cut Aguayo

October 30th, 2016
Inaccuracy getting out of hand.

Inaccuracy getting out of hand.

Magoo, you’ve done it again!

Can a Bucs game be played where the Roberto Aguayo, the modern day Jan Stenerud, doesn’t miss a kick?

In a critically important game today, Stenerud yet again missed a kick.

Stenerud, who Bucs AC/DC-loving general manager Jason Licht traded up into the second round to select this past March, has been nothing short of awful. With the Bucs an extra point away from tying the game with the Raiders at 17-16, Stenerud again botched a kick.

This is beginning to get ridiculous.

The Bucs are simply not good enough of a team offensively, without Vincent Jackson, without Doug Martin, without Charles Sims, without tweety huge bowel movement ASJ, to overcome a guy constantly missing chip shot kicks.

Here is the problem: The Bucs selected Stenerud in the second round.

Now Joe knows Licht famously said he learned from Bill Belicheat to admit your mistakes and move on. What is not implied is moving on from mistakes where the team made a heavy investment.

For reasons unknown, Bucs second-round picks are jinxed. While Joe understands he is referencing two different administrations here, if the Bucs did not wash their hands of second round busts in their rookie seasons like Sabby the Goat and heat-packing, guitar-picking Da’Quan Bowers, the Bucs surely are not going to cut Stenerud this season.

In short, Bucs fans are just going to have to suck it up, load up on TUMS and work on their rosaries.

Joe suspects Stenerud is safe through the 2017 season. After that, if Stenerud doesn’t get better, all bets are off.

He’s not the only FSU player who shouldn’t be here in 2017. Trade Busteis now while someone can be tricked into giving up a good amount for him.

  2. lightningbuc Says:

Christ, Jaboo couldn’t hit the broad side of a barn today, and people are complaining about ONE shanked kick?

  3. martinii Says:

Hell Don’t cut him, make him play defensive tackle, where he gets his ass stomped 20 times a game.

  4. ARGH_M8E Says:

    U SUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUCK!!!!!!! I hate this f’n guy!!!!!!

  5. Buccaneers Says:

    My God we are bad

  6. dusthty rhothdes Says:

well he needs to pull a hammy for the rest of the year

  7. Dean Says:

I had no idea the Buc’s brought back Luby Smith & his son to coach the secondary! Raiders break NFL record for penalties & Buc’s cannot take advantage? And last play 2 defenders knock each other down & receiver scores winning TD? And I bet Buc’s took kicker because Winston wanted him. How is that working out. I am Charter ticket holders 41 years or 42 who is counting. Same old performance. And they wonder why attendance is low? HA!

  8. BucFan20 Says:

But with Jaboo, If we are going to play a BAD team odds are he will beat them. Just have to make sure all our games are against BAD teams.

  9. MadMax Says:

It doesnt matter WHO we have at whatever position if the QB is also inaccurate most of the time!

Trade Winston for someone’s 1st or 2nd and a stud pass rush or Safety.

  10. unbelievable Says:

Honestly that missed kick had zero effect on the game.

How about the repeated 1st down run for 1 yard gain that we ran at least 10 times today? Or JW overthrowing 60% of his passes? Or the defense not being able to breathe on Derek Carr after the 1st quarter?

Our kicker was not the problem today Joe, and you know it.

  11. Buccaneers Says:

Pat is the easiest play in football. We haven’t been able to kick them for 3 years now. Somebody buy me a Brown’s jersey…..at least they lose respectively.

  12. Chrisco4BUCS Says:

F this team and the sport, I’m done with it all, been a fan since I was 6, now I’m 45, time to leave it, the game of football is unwatchable now

  13. passthebuc Says:

You call him Magoo but he does not make as many mistakes as Winston. Winston Was our first round no.1 and Aguayo he was our 3 rd pick of the draft. Why not hit Winston where it belongs. Glennon was not this bad and and he was tarred and feathered. Go figure. If you want to be good Joe, suck it up and lay the blame where it belongs.

  14. Jeagan1999 Says:

Bench Aguayo and bring in another kicker. Let him ride the pine until he figures out how to get his head on straight. But kicker is far from our only weakness on this team…even if it is one of our more glaring ones.

  15. R.O. Says:

His miss had zero impact on the game.. are Raiders fans calling for JS to get cut tomorrow?

  16. BoJim Says:

    No pass rush as usual.
    Fuxk cAgwayo.
    Noo db’s
they gave us too many chances.
back to the Bronces. I was raised there.

  17. lurker Says:

    silly faux article.

aguayo was ready to kick the game-winner but the bucs kept going 3 and out despite the free yards.

  18. Tampabaybucfan Says:

Joe…..you can blame our offense on all the missing weapons….Martin, VJax, ASJ, Sims…..but we had them earlier in the year and our offense was still impotent.
The problem with our offense is Jameis’ inaccuracy…..he simply must get that fixed…..and no, we aren’t going to cut Aguayo any more than we are going to draft a QB next year.
I’m rooting for both of them to get it together.

  19. lurker Says:

    *waving

bye bojim. nice not knowing ya

  20. lurker Says:

“I’m rooting for both of them to get it together.”

    me too!

  21. Poor Glennon Says:

    Send #3 a message. BENCH HIS A$s

  22. passthebuc Says:

Someone needs to ask a defensive guru how to build a team from the ground up. It starts in the middle. Nose tackle, linebacker, Safety. Joe you need to look at our draft picks over the last 5 years and re draft. Then see what the team looks like. I’m ok with this years first 2, after that ????.
If you would have traded Winston in 2015 you may have ended up with the likes of Bosa and, or Stanley and Elliott. this year as well as much needded talant elsewhere.
    2014-Jenkins-Sims and Edwards, Busts.
    2013 No #1 and Banks a no 2-Busts
    2012 Barron a #5 in the draft, another bust/
    2011 Clayborn-Bowers- Foster-Black/ All busts.
    2010 Price-Benn-Lewis-Williams. All Busts.

And what is the term you use, Rock Star GM
Our drafting has been horrible, our scouting horrible, out coaching, horrible and our selection of coaches Horrible.

I wish you would write about this instead of America’s QB

  23. Rod Munch Says:

He missed an extra point in a week in which the defense gave up the most yards in team history.

The team has over 600 other things to worry about than cutting a rookie kicker. Also I’ll say it yet again, rookie kickers generally stink, even the all-time greats generally did not have good rookie seasons. You can go look it up for yourself if you want to – but I know you’d rather just complain about a kicker in a week in which the defense gave up over 500 yards passing.

  24. Jay Smith Says:

I sure wish we had Derek Carr as R Qb…

  25. BucTrooper Says:

    “Bucs won’t cut Aguayo.”

    Well they should. Period.

  26. DallasBuc Says:

Just heard a fan calling into the Bucs radio show with Tkras calling Aguayo “the human point shaver”!!!

  27. Bucintired Says:

Omg Jan stenerud lmao. That’s the funniest sh!the I’ve read in a long time. Lmao that just made this loss less painful. Good job joe

  28. BUC IT Says:

We already lost the rams game because of the kicker. We just don’t have time to let the kid take his lumps. He is only a kicker. We need to cut him.

  29. Bucko40 Says:

And this is why the Yucs will be Yucs. They keep players that should go and release players that they should keep. Williams, Young. Talib, Blont and Penn just to name a few.

  30. Silent_Partner Says:

Yet. The next GM will do it. Buc fans who are still defending this stinker pick seem unaware that Aguayo missed 50% of his 40+ yard kicks last year at FSU. Can’t fix the yips. Maybe it’ll work out when he gets to his next team and isn’t worried about being a second round pick.

  31. Brandon Says:

Stenerud kicked in the NFL for over two decades. Comparing Aguayo to him is ridiculous. Charlie Gogolak, or was it his brother, Pete, was a 1st round pick by some team in the 60’s and was a giant bust. Aguayo is him…not a dude that was still kicking into his 40’s

  32. Arealbucfan Says:

Wow!!! Y’all have to be he lamest excuse for fans I’ve ever seen please do us a favor and go jump on the pats bandwagon you losers… yes Aguayo missed yes Winston overthrew.. janikowski missed as well “due to wind”… they are kids.. look at the statistics for the hall of famers most started out rocky.. IF YOU DONT LIKE IT YOU HAVE OPTIONS… you could always play in traffic instead of coming to Raymond James.. you could sit at home and be a living room football analyst but please leave your negativity back in the trailer park… win or lose good or no good BITCH IM A BUCCANEER

  33. Matt Says:

I can’t imagine how much pressure must be on kickers to make long or game winning field goals. However, missing extra points and close field goals is totally unacceptable. Kickers aren’t asked to tackle, pass, block, run the football…..just kick. I know they won’t cut Aguayo because of his contract and where he was drafted, but he has to br held accountable somehow. As far as Jameis, he’s going to be fine. I was totally against them drafting him but I’m on board with him now. He is a leader and fighter and mature well beyond his years. I am getting a little tired of the accuracy issues with him simply because I know good and well he’s better than that. He’s a stud and will wind up being the best QB in Buccaneers history.
