Licht Security At One Buc Palace

Leaks and associated draft shenanigans don’t concern Bucs general manager Jason Licht.

Unlike other GMs, Licht doesn’t keep the official Buccaneers draft board under extreme security. Remember, Joe typed up how Hall of Fame general manager Bill Polian detailed how he restricted access to only three people.

Joe asked Licht point black on Thursday how many have access to the board. The short answer? Everyone.

“I really, really trust my staff,” Licht told Joe and assembled media. “They have passed all the tests since I’ve been hired. I’ve got it to where I like it. Every single one of them are very valuable to me and I trust them. They have access to it on a daily basis. I want them to know that it’s not necessarily always exactly the way all of them want it, after we do more work – but for the most part it is, because they’re very talented at what they do. They see that board every day.”

Joe finds Licht’s approach very cool, and more evidence that he’s a fearless and ballsy GM. Joe wouldn’t be so brave.

The draft board takes shape in a big way in December, and literally millions of dollars are invested in its creation.

Any leak of that board can compromise the Bucs’ ability to trade up or down, which has been key in past years, such as acquiring Lavonte David and Ali Marpet.

Licht seems like a great guy to work for.

I wonder if earlier this morning if Kwon tweeted us a cryptic message…maybe I am reading too much into the message..

Nevermind..maybe I just hadn’t woken up quite yet..

Let me go back and restring my Les Paul and play some Carry on Wayward Sons.

  3. Randy Says:

If you can’t trust your personnel who can you trust? I bet were going D heavy LOL … Christmas in April luv it….

  4. The Buc Realist Says:

Obviously NFL GM Licht did not “trust” lovie to be able to establish a competent defense on the field!!!

  5. Pickgrin Says:

If Joe is truly worried about the lack of security for the Bucs Big Board – perhaps it would have been prudent to NOT ANNOUNCE IT TO THE WORLD…

  6. SB with Jameis Says:

I can’t wait till the day that I don’t have to read the word “Lovie” on these threads ever again.

  7. LUVMYBUCS Says:

    Speaking for Pablo

“Pablo has an amigo who is on the OBP cleaning crew. Pablo’s amigo took a sneak look at the board and reported to Pablo….Pablo was very disappointed to hear than names like Laremy, Jalen, Joey, DeForest. Myles, Ezekiel, Vernon, Ronnie & Leonard were names….no Julio, Jose, Roberto or Pedro on the list…..there was a player who’s name ended in a Z but it was Wentz… was at the very bottom of the list next to a dude named Goff.”

  11. The Buc Realist Says:

I will tell you again, go down to the practice field, meet the grounds crew!!!! and ask for Manuel,,,,,,Manuel labor!!!!!

  12. MadMax Says:

Hopefully it consists of Floyd, Ogbah, Nkimdiche, Doctson, Alexander, Joseph, C. Jones, Cooper.

  13. Tampabaybucfan Says:

    Speaking for Pablo

“Pablo knows Manuel……but Manuel is no longer on the grounds crew. Manuel was replaced by one of Lovie’s Sons”

  14. Nole on Sat.-Bucc on Sun. Says:

My GM lookin like a Mob figure on that pic. Look like he parked the COPO and walk str8 in the building. Must be that Patriots still in him.

  15. SB with Jameis Says:

Sorry LUV. I was away from the puter. All is good here right now. I am, believe it or not, going to watch a game of Donkey Basketball tonight at my son’s school. First time for me. It should be hilarious. Other than that I am giddy for the Draft. I asked the Joes what they thought about putting out just One mock draft for the Bucs only and he said he would think about it. I would like to see his wet dream draft would be!!!
    Shout out Nole!! Peace bro.

  16. LifeOfABucFan Says:

Bullcrapola…Didn’t they see Roberto on that list!!?? And he’s Mejicano descent..Y Jameis wouldn’t mind having him on the field..

  17. Nole on Sat.-Bucc on Sun. Says:

    SB whus good my dude..

  18. Joe Says:

Not sure if you are aware where Licht’s office is, there must be at least three levels of security to get through. Virtually every door at One Buc Palace is locked and are controlled by key cards.

Pretty sure only those who are deemed worthy by Licht and Team Glazer, can only get into that room.

Not even Miko can get there unless Licht lets her in.

  19. Joe Says:

I can’t wait till the day that I don’t have to read the word “Lovie” on these threads ever again.

You are going to have to wait for a long, long time. Joe writes about Father Dungy and Chucky and Rah and Greg Schiano from time to time. Why is Lovie so special that his name shall never grace this website again?

If anything, Joe should write about Lovie daily so folks don’t forget how he ran this franchise into the ground.

  21. Tampa Tony Says:

I trust Licht and the glazers with their security. Especially since all the local media who cover this team were 100% in the dark and had ZERO clue he was gonna get the axe! Ha ha

So much for any of the local media thinking they knew what was going on

  22. Pawel Says:

If bucs fail they all get fired, so yeah they will keep their mouth shut.

  23. William Walls Says:

“If anything, Joe should write about Lovie daily so folks don’t forget how he ran this franchise into the ground.”

  24. SB with Jameis Says:

Actually Joe, I wasn’t referring to you. I was referring to everyone that wants to constantly bring up Lovie vs Schiano vs Dungy vs. Koetter. I mean Leeman Bennett is rarely named around here anymore and I wish Lovie’s name was just as rare so I could get his tenure out of my mind quicker. Just one Bucs’ fan’s opinion tho.

  25. Bucntarv Says:

Did anyone else watch the UFC on Fox tonight and see Jameis, GMC, Ali, Gohlston, and Spence in the crowd? Looked like they were all having a great time.

  26. FLBoyInDallas Says:

Why aren’t there more Sam Wyche stories?

  27. Joe Says:

Why aren’t there more Sam Wyche stories?

Whenever someone tries to say that Father Dungy drafted John Lynch, Derrick Brooks and Warren Sapp, Sam Wyche’s name is invoked.

  28. Nole on Sat.-Bucc on Sun. Says:

Dag Bucntarv I went to the club tonight. You got me hatin I missed that look yo.

  29. Nole on Sat.-Bucc on Sun. Says:

So you say Spence was wit them…. Interesting.

  30. MadMax Says:

Probably referring to our NG Akeem Spence.

“The draft board takes shape in a big way in December, and literally millions of dollars are invested in its creation.” – Joe

They would save a bundle if they just came here to read the posts. JBF fans may not agree on much…but we do agree on who should be drafted in each round…

    LifeOfABucFan Says
I wonder if earlier this morning if Kwon tweeted us a cryptic message…

He mentioned an LSU player during a recent press conference. I believe the guy…Deon Jones (I think) is a close friend of his. Outside LB. Duke Riley is the OLB who is replacing Jones…who replaced Kwon.

I think it is more of a team spirit thing for LSU.

But in the presser, Kwon said he would love the Bucs to draft Jones, because he ha the same fire as Kwon and they would make teams fear the Bucs or something like that.

  33. DemBoysFromDaBay727 Says:

It’s i got pretty excited to see our boys @ UFC fight night. The first thing going that I noticed was hey, GMC and Jameis are kicking it together. Maybe that will hush some of the rumors referring to GMC not getting along with Jameis and him being a little jealous of him taking over the leadership role.

I think he’s more than happy to have Jameis around, probably had to get used to not being the face of the franchise anymore but I don’t think it bugged him to the point where it was worth spreading rumors about it.

Either way, u got your leader on offense(#3), And your leader on defense. (#93). Tho it seems Kwon is slow taking that role over as well. He is more of the vocal leader and G-MAC is the veteran leader who leads by example.

@BUCNTARV~I didn’t see the other bucs u mentioned tho. We’re they right next to them?

  34. Bucntarv Says:

Yea sorry for the confusion, I was referring to Akeem Spence.

Ya, they were. They all took a picture together too. I would totally post it too if i could.

  35. LifeOfABucFan Says:

It was on his twitter yesterday..he said while working out with Jalen Mills:

“They don’t even know what’s about to happen this year bro!! ”

He’s up there at LSU this weekend..

  36. Buccfan37 Says:

the real Bucobruce… better late than never…Baaaaaaay! Realist… manuel labor, now that’s funny.
