Injury Revelations Forthcoming

April 11th, 2016
Injured center?

Injured center?

At the NFC Coaches Breakfast last month, Dirk Koetter made it clear there are several injured/rehabilitating Buccaneers.

The only name he would reveal was Jacquies Smith. The defensive end had a shoulder “cleaned up,” implying surgery. Of course, he didn’t need to name Louis Murphy, who had ACL surgery in November.

But who else is down? Answers likely will come today, as the Bucs reported back to One Buc Palace this morning.

Joe already speculated why center Joe Hawley might be nursing something. Joe also has seen defensive tackle Akeem Spence reference on social media that he’s rehabbing.

Is Gerald McCoy 100 percent? Is Austin Seferian-Jenkins? Many answers are forthcoming.

Of course, a guy unable to practice in April or May, is often 100 percent ready in July.

  2. Stanglassman Says:

    How about Marpet ankle surgery?

  3. R.O. Says:

I’m a runner and I tore 2 ligaments in my ankle 18 months ago and It probably took 14 months to get it back to 100% stable. I’ve turned it a couple of times since and swells up on me. Not sure you couch tater’s know very much about injuries and rehab.

  4. AC Says:

Realist.. u understand that this game is pretty violent and these guys play with injuries that would have most of us in a body cast. I’d rather them be dealing with injuries now than later on in the offseason

  5. The Buc Realist Says:

    @AC

sounds like you just made the best case for keeping MG8!!!!!

  6. Bucs SB with Jameis Says:

    @R.O.

  7. BuccaneerBonzai Says:

I’m not concerned. The rookies are not even there yet. This camp is a minor one.

  8. Pirate n packerland Says:

  9. Howard Cosell Says:

    Either a troll or a condescending a-hole

I jog, do wind sprints, hit Youfit for the Elliptical machine.
Admittedly I use weight machines instead of free weights
so that hurts my internet bravado a little.
However, I never feel the urge to rub this in the faces
    of people who don’t exercise.
    I guess that’s because I’m not an ass-hat.

  11. Clw JB Says:

I sprained my ankle once playing basketball in the Navy 30 years ago and I limped for like 6 weeks…to this day if I step wrong it swells up like a balloon….guess that makes me an expert at injury recovery timelines as well…

  12. tmaxcon Says:

and down goes R.O…. No need to pile on he has been knocked out cold that being said I did stub my toe reaching for the remote after I tossed it watching Loser Lovies defense trying to stop a slant. I did not spill my beer though.

This is the time of year for them to deal with injuries and get ready so no concern on my part. Plenty of time to heal up.

  13. The Buc Realist Says:

    R.O.
    Really Obnoxious!!!!!!

  14. Hawaiian Buc Says:

You guys are killing R.O.!!! LOL

  15. NashvilleBuc Says:

I’m 6’3″ 225, still very active and used to play soccer, football and track year-round. I had both knees “cleaned up” in 2014 by the same knee doc that works on the Titans. I’ve been very diligent with rehab and workouts. It’s been almost two years and I’m still not back to where I was before the surgery in terms of strength and inflamation (but the stabbing pains are gone). I wonder every day how NFL athletes can rehab so quickly and then get back in the trenches. It is unbelievable. I know they suffer more than most people can comprehend.

  16. Mike Johnson Says:

This all points to.. pretexts you Buc fans can hide behind. It was the injuries or it was the schedule right? No excuses..Just win BUCS..by any means necessary. I’m sick of the excuses and scapegoats. Players have got to ball..period. Who will you fair weathered fans blame this year? The trainers? Certainly not the halo’ed new regime. Maybe the water boy?
    WE ARE..WATCHING….

  17. DoNUTS Says:

This just in…..BREAKING NEWS…..all NFL teams deal with injuries all year round………and one team still wins the Lombardi trophy with injuries.

RO>> DNA is back>>> you are an A-hole.

  18. Spacebuc Says:

    Yup, you got me.
    You caught the tater.
Since you’re a runner, run and get me a beer.
    And some nachos.

  19. Buccfan37 Says:

I sit a lot until my butt hurts and I have to get up. Have had torn cartilage in my left knee for 30 years from playing pickup football. Not too bothersome.

  20. Bucs SB with Jameis Says:

    Lol Spacebuc.

  21. HIRE JIMBO Says:

    F#CK THE PACKERS

  22. DallasBuc Says:

Joe- did any of those answers about injuries come today as you speculated? I don’t recall any questions by the media about it during the presser.

  23. godzilla13 Says:

Injuries are injuries but c’mon man. When was the last time GMC did not have a significant injury? 2011? Did McCoy ever have surgery on his shoulder? I know he did on his hand but never heard anything about the shoulder? Akeem Spence rehabbing? Spence injured his back lifting weights last year then re-joined the team mid-season. Next he injured his ankle after the Saints game which put him on IR and he is supposed to be the young healthy up an comer. Clinton McDonald is another one. He has missed 13 games in two years and people say we don’t need to draft a DT? 13 games is as good as a season. I say we draft a pair of DT this year. Give me some beef up front like 6-4 325 Vincent Valentine out of corn fed Nebraska or 6-2 325 D.J. Reader out of Clemson. Players who are hungry, literally. Yea, every team has injuries, just not like our guys. Austin Safarian-Jenkins needs to light it up this year and play all 16 or start his own hot tub summer sale, get your money for nothin chicks for free bed time spa sales team. If he so much as misses a game because he has a bruised rib-cage, its time to send him down the early retirement social security football has been line. No more Mr Nice Guy..boys.
