With The 12th Pick In The 2016 NFL Draft …

December 21st, 2015
More playing time coming?

More playing time coming for Da’Quan Bowers?

Your beloved Buccaneers (6-8) inched toward a top-10 draft pick yesterday.

NFL.com updated its draft board and the Bucs currently own the 12th pick in the draft, if the season ended today.

Of course, there are still more games. New Orleans (5-8) plays the Lions tonight. If the Saints win at home, the Bucs would then own the No. 11 overall pick, based on league tiebreaker rules.

Joe is not cheering for the Bucs to lose their final two games. Joe never does that. When the whistle blows, Joe wants the good guys to kick the opponents’ ass.

However, Joe would have no problem seeing the Bucs, for example, sit down Gerald McCoy and other banged up defensive starters for the remainder of this season. There’s nothing wrong with staying healthy, and losing can be beneficial at times.

Joe would be willing to cheer Da’Quan Bowers through two of end-of-season starts, as Bucs fans did last year during the Chase for Jameis.

    tank for Hargreaves? lol

  2. The Buc Realist Says:

    @Joe

If the Saints win, that will put the Bucs in Last place in the division!!!! Again!!!!!

    where is the improvement!!!!!

  3. ChanEpic Says:

I hear Mario Williams may be RELEASED by the Bills, shouldn’t we go all in on that guy?

  4. Strider.... Sec 146 Says:

I like super marios game he will do really well here in Tampa. I just wana say thank you BuCs big thanks to Jameis the savior of Tampa Bay watch out world next year this sophomore is going to lite the league on fire.

  5. Martini Says:

Would like to see McCoy get 2 more sacks.

  6. HIRE JIMBO Says:

We need to draft the DE from Oklahoma state. And Carl Nassib from Penn state. Sign Marvin Jones or muhammad Sannu from cinnci. And maybe the LT from Buffalo who is a free agent.

  7. Tampabaybucfan Says:

We did all the tanking last year….time to beat the Bears & spoil the Stinking Panthers….I would love nothing more…..

As for the draft…..pick the best CB, S, DE available with our pick…..

    Use FA for a WR..

And…..forget rounds 6 & 7….we don’t need players in development….use the picks to trade up along with the Glennon pick

    Bucco Brice Says
    “tank for Hargreaves?”

Heck NO! He’s about to turn 31 and has only 4 sacks this year. It’s that kind of false hype that keeps getting us duds in free agency.

  9. Bucs Believer Says:

How about we tank to get rid of lovie!

  10. Couch Fan Says:

Hargreaves is 20 years old and hes a corner so not sure why sacks would matter.

  11. destro44 Says:

I go all in on Mario Williams. His sack numbers are down because Ryan’s dedense has him dropping in coverage a large % of plays. That’s why he wants out.

  12. Bama Rich Says:

What about Von Miller and or Josh Norman if either is available?

  13. The Buc Realist Says:

Be careful about Mario Williams, he will be entering his 11th year next year. Most will be come just “Pass Rush Specialist” at that point in there career. And one can expect 1-2 years of high production only. Not saying he cannot help this team. But do not sell the farm to get him!!!

  14. Espo Says:

Ooooooh Mario Williams, a name I recognize. He must be good. No reason why he was released.

  15. destro44 Says:

Williams hasn’t been released, he is not happy in a 3-4 defense. He had double digit sacks last year in 4-3. At the least he brings a credible pass rush threat from the end position. Which should help with GMCs double team issue. Even if you only get 2 to 3 years of production he is better than any player available in the draft.

  16. DefenseRules Says:

Not hard to tell what some Bucs fans (including Joe) are looking to get for Christmas.

‘Dear Santa … Let us lose 2 more games so we can draft higher. Thank you, and I promise we won’t ask for the same thing again next year. Maybe.’

Well bah humbug, I’m with Tampabaybucfan on this one. Really want to whoop up on the Bears and whomp the Stinking’ Panthers arses and spoil their undefeated season. An 8-8 season is a LOT more satisfying to me than a 6-10 season. Especially if in winning those last 2 games we manage to find a couple of players who really hate losing as much as Jameis does.

Far as next year’s draft goes, all defense except for possibly one middle-round OLineman (who’d have to be a real steal). Defense priority needs to go to DE and CB (best players available in 1st two rounds). Safety next priority. Two at each position would be fine with me (hoping one starts at each of those 3 positions).

  17. The Buc Realist Says:

I would like to see the buc win the next 2 games. But its for to see if the Bucs can draft well without having to pick at the top of each round!!! I know that some of the sheep are excited because they found some starters in the last draft, But when you have the #1 overall pick, that is what you are supposed to do!!!!

  18. Pete Says:

    Failin’ for Jalen?

  19. Bryce Says:

Want to start solidifying the secondary go draft Sua Cravens out of USC

  20. Matt Says:

If the we lose that 2 games will the Glazers bring Lovie back for another year? A 4 game losing streak to end the season might be enough to get him canned.

  21. destro44 Says:

I don’t care about draft position, 10th or 14th who cares. I get trying to lock up number 1 last year, but this year we need to try and build some momentum into the off-season. I’d like to beat Chicago at home, and go into Carolina and end the perfect season. I think beating Carolina on the road is the kind of win that could get this team to turn the corner and expect to compete next season.

  22. Joe Says:

I don’t care about draft position, 10th or 14th who cares.

A boatload of people not the least of which are Team Glazer and Jason Licht.

  23. destro44 Says:

If Jason Licht would trade two wins to finish the season for a slightly better mediocre draft position I say he is part of the “culture of losing” problem and should be shown the door. Good teams with good front offices haven’t picked in the top 10 for years, and still they find talented players to make their teams better. If Licht isn’t up to the challenge he should just quit now.

  24. Mike10 Says:

I’m so dam sick of having to talk about draft position in December. Shouldn’t all these picks result in a good team?…

  25. Bucs Fan Since '76 Says:

No F’ing way! They must play to win. Win the final two games, finish 8-8 and head into the offseason with confidence. Lose four straight and serious doubt stays in the building.

  26. Tbbucs3 Says:

Let’s just beat the Bears then have Jameis throw 60 times against the panthers for reps against a great defense.

  27. gatherspeed Says:

I never root for draft position. The only time I did was last year and I promised myself I would not root to lose the last game, but wouldn’t be upset if they did lose.

Why do I never root for draft position?

    Broderick Thomas
    Keith McCants
    Charles McRae
    Mark Barron
    Adrian Clayborn
    Gaines Adams
    Eric Curry

And Derrick Brooks, arguably, one of the best in franchise history and in the HOF. 28th pick.

  28. SCBucsFan Says:

I bet Jameis works his tail off to win these last two games and Lovie tells the defense to take it easy, so we can get better draft picks. I wouldn’t be surprised if he did that already in the NO and STL games. The defense was actually looking like they were improving a bit prior to those games.

  29. LUVMYBUCS Says:

    TRADE DOWN!!!

  30. LUVMYBUCS Says:

    Twice if you have too.

  31. Tom S. Says:

I was in full tank mode towards the end of last season, because the prize of the top pick was more than worth it. However, if your scouting department does it’s job you can get a very good player at 11 or 14 or 16. It’s not like there will only be 10 good players out of the next draft and all will be taken in the top 10.

So while I am OK with resting injured starters I would not root for the Bucs to go out on a 4 game slide for a couple of middle slots higher in the draft.

And Joe, I guarantee you both publicly and privately Jason Licht and ownership would rather have the Bucs win one or both of the final two games over have 2-4 slots higher in the middle of the first round.

  32. Travis Seigle Says:

I would love for the 10th pick to Jalen Ramsey even though he’s a top 5 pick.
