Throughout today, Joe will bring you reactions from various players discussing the stunning 20-yard run by America’s Quarterback, Bucs signal-caller Jameis Winston. It kept the final drive alive that ended in a game-winning touchdown. Yesterday’s run by Jameis may have saved the Bucs’ season, as they enter their final four games very much in the hunt for a wild card berth.

DT Akeem Spence

“It was crazy. He was scrambling, looked like he was down but he was able to put his hand on the ground, stay up, find some way to get extra yardage. That was a play from God, honestly, because you don’t see that every day.

“[The team] turned into fans on the bench? Yeah, man! I was like, I thought he was down but then he kept going and I was — “Whoa!” The whole team was, the whole stadium.

“[Jameis] is just a winner. He found a way to get it done. Some way. He is just a winner. He knows how to win. Never seen anything like that. Probably one of the best plays I have ever seen in my life.”

It’s just sad that play isn’t even on the NFL can’t miss plays of the week.

  2. Defense Rules Says:

I’m with Spence. “Never seen anything like that.” I thought for sure that Jameis was down short of the 1st down, but then … he popped out of the pile and there he was running forward again. No whistles, hope was still alive. Then that last lunge forward to squeak out the 1st down … incredible. At that point everyone in the stadium knew the Bucs were going to win that game.

True, but take comfort in this, Jameis will bring us back to national prominence again. The Bucs have NEVER been popular nationally, not even in their best days. Back then, it was more like the networks had to show them because they were so good. But with Jameis, he will be newsworthy, people will want to follow him… or even hate him. He is polarizing, love him or hate him, people will want to watch him!

that’ll be on JW’s career highlight reel for sure. reminded me of that Alstott goal line run vs the Vikings that sort of established his reputation as that “at all costs” short yardage monster in the hearts of buc fans

  5. @FcukTheRefsBroy Says:

By the way. Me and a couple select few have been calling for cam newton style QB draws and Brady like sneaks out of him. I want the ball in the hands of Daniel Rutiegger at 6’4″ than anyone on the planet including Jim Brown. Alstott favorite ever but Jameis is Rudy

  6. Sapp, STFU Says:

From the stands on the 30 yard line, when he popped out of the pile so quickly, I thought he’d dropped the ball. Then he started scrambling again.

Everyone was cheering (and stunned at what we had witnessed.) Everyone kept saying, we have a real QB.

  7. ToesOnTheLine! Says:

I didn’t catch the game live, but seeing that scramble on the replay even…damn whether that was divine intervention, luck, sheer will and determination out of Winston, or all of the above…that was pretty damn amazing! I was late to the party on the Jameis bandwagon (probably started coming around after the bye week), but this guy has the it factor that can’t be coached (as 87, L&WD, and other FSU guys predicted). It’s finally fun again to hear the Patriots, Giants, Jets, and Bills fans I’m surrounded by where I live give props to the Bucs and JW3.

  8. CreamsicleBananaHammock Says:

Also, did you notice Jameis look for the first down marker before making that final lunge? There wasn’t a damn thing that was going to keep him from getting that first down yardage.

God, I’m still riding freaking high from that play. Been awhile since I could say that about a Bucs game

  9. Scratching My Head Says:

Jameis is the real deal. Proud of what that kid has done so far and the leader he has already become. Tampa’s future is bright!

  10. BoJim Says:

Always gonna remember that one but damn is he slow. I was afraid he’d get thumped but he just won over the rest of the (ahem) fans.

  11. 813bucboi Says:

@toesontheline..your not alone…I was late to the jameis party as well…I thought they should trade down and fix the oline but they one upped me…they fixed the line and grabbed a franchise qb….me being a gator fan I didn’t want to see him with my bucs not because I didn’t like him, but because I would have to listen to all the fsu fans say, I told you…well im so happy I was wrong and I wear my Winston jersey every sunday proudly…I saw something special in him vs the saints and Texans earlier in the year…I still hate fsu but I love jameis…if we had a kicker at the beginning of the season we would at least be 7-5 right now with a win over Houston…I just hope he continues to improve and be a leader for this team and city…GO BUCS!!!

Not true. The Bucs were a huge national sell. Their Monday night games against the Rams were annually the highest rated Monday night games every year they were put on. Football fans loved the brash, fast, and charismatic, Buccaneers and tuned in when they played. They used to get a lot of national games for a team not called the Cowboys, Steelers, or Packers (the Pats got no exposure in those days).

that was a play from jameis christ. god ain’t got nothing to do with it.

  14. LongSeasons Says:

Jameis does have a desire to win. That is something that has been missing from this team since the D lead by Warren and Derrick looked each other in the eye and said “no more Yucs.”

They hated losing. Sapp and Brooks hated losing and had a fire to win. I don’t know that Jameis hates anything. He just seems like a big good natured kid who has a fire to win. I think that fits for a franchise QB better that hating to lose. More positive vibes in loving to win.

I think Jameis enthusiasm for the game is evident and is rubbing off on the other players and that is something we have never seen in a Quarterback in Tampa.

  15. Buc1987 Says:

Say it again. The swagger of Warren Sapp playing QB.
