Lovie’s Pregame Prep For Postgame

Lovie Smith has a little Greg Schiano in him

Maniacal about details, former Bucs head coach Greg Schiano regulated players’ meal temperature, room temperature, movie titles and more. Don’t believe it? The proof is here.

Lovie Smith is detail obsessed, too, but you just don’t hear much about it.

As a thoroughly sane individual, Lovie doesn’t care about nonsense, such as what a player watches on TV. But he still is a detail guy.

An interesting revelation from Lovie on the Buccaneers Radio Network this week offered a peek into how much Lovie prepares. The head coach said that before a game, he is prepped for his postgame talk.

“I have what I’m going to say most of the time before the game ends. Before I even go into the game, I know what I’m going to say to the team,” Lovie said. “I try to know what I’m going to say to them afterwards.”

That fascinates Joe, and Joe finds it very telling. Who would have ever thought a coach would prepare his postgame speech every single week?

Man, Joe would love know what Lovie was preparing last year during the Chase for Jameis.

Awh man! That’s kinda disappointing. Right after you posted an artical earlier in the week highlighting his post game emotion, now we find out its preplanned. Whatever it takes I guess. it just means he is managing the team and their emotions both high and low after a win or loss. Nothing wrong with that.

It shows me that he believes the Buccaneers are going to win every game so he prepared the post-game speech as a motivational tool. Nothing wrong with that.

With all the losing…he has those speeches committed to memory…..with winning….he needs to prepare….and we are very happy for that.

Lovie Smith last year after a five game skid ” Well men ..At least were consistent ..How do you like this feeling ? ” Were only one game ahead of Tennessee .Lets keep up the good work. Famous Jameis will be here soon. No practice on Monday

Life throws some interesting curves at you.

At this moment, I am grateful for last season.

Can you imagine the Bucs without Jameis or with Manziel?

    I Licht I TRUST!!!

Wow, when he should have his head in the game, his head is in the clouds, formulating a meaningless post game speech. Very revealing and disappointing!!

That’s about the same disappointing level as the Little General talking about his halftime routine of snacks, peeing and Marlboros.

Just dropped my confidence level a notch.

Once, I interviewed a coach who would stoically take a knee and gaze across the field in late innings deep in thought. I asked him about what was going through his mind at those moments.

He said he was wondering if they had any hot dogs left on the rotary grill in the concession stand. The ladies there would give them to him post game for free.

So that’s why he stops coaching in the fourth quarter! Just thinking about his post game speech. He needs to alter his excuse about poor starts from “Real football starts in November” to the actual fact, “real football starts in the 4th quarter”!

    Quit trollin’, kid.

I only post on two blogs…one of them a political blog and the other one here of course. I expect trolls on a political blog..in fact they even give us an ignore button to deal with them.

But I find it bemusing, or perhaps confusing, that fans would troll their own team’s site. Never expected to find trolls on a sports blog. Learn something all the time.

Amazing, huh? Trolling is the only explanation for some of these people. If these people are not trolling then I am alarmed by the lack of overall intelligence.

ALL successful coaches are control freaks. If you weren’t, then you won’t be around for long.
