Former Buccaneer Adrian Clayborn saved Tampa Bay

Joe’s got some incredible video here.

Yes, it’s America’s Quarterback, Jameis Winston, running for a first down on 3rd-and-19 during the game-winning drive yesterday. But don’t focus on Jameis here. Focus on No. 99 on the Falcons.

No. 99 is Adrian Clayborn, old friend and the Bucs’ first-round pick in the 2011 NFL Draft. Clayborn did his share of loafing in Tampa, and without him giving up yesterday. Jameis’ run never happens.

Watch it all right here.

Amazing how Clayborn quit twice on one play. All had to do was jog over and fall on Jameis to end the play.

If Clayborn is with the Falcons next year, then Dan Quinn should be ashamed of himself.

  1. You Go Joe Says:

    I get it he may have thought the play was dead, but no whistles came in

  2. Mike Johnson Says:

    Grant it, Clayton did look a little slow on that play. But it was easy to think Jameis was down. I like Clayborn. Just glad he’s not playing for us though…

  3. The Buc Realist Says:

    I could say “I told you so” but that would be beneath me, so instead, I informed you thusly!!!

    @Joe

    will you do a “retraction” and correct the mistake when you left Adrian Slowborn off the “countdown worst 20 Buccaneers of the past 10 years” !!!

  4. Hawaiian Buc Says:

    I don’t consider that loafing at all. Had he fallen on Winston, it would have been 15 yards and an automatic first down, and he would have been the goat. I can guarantee you everyone in the building except Winston thought he was down. You could even see the ref start to come in to spot the ball.

    Even after Jameis got up, Clayborn is loafing. He’s doing everything he’s coached not to do. –Joe

  5. Tampabaybucfan Says:

    Let me beat the Realist to it….the “Pop Star”……really blew it with “Adrian Slowburn” as a #1 pick…..

    Among other miserable picks like Barron….

  6. Tampabaybucfan Says:

    Oops…..didn’t beat the Realist to it….

  7. Hawaiian Buc Says:

    I guess Joe had to write this article to get Realist out of his depression. It’s a bit ironic how much less active he is after a win. I’m sure he’s got some kind of excuse, but if you check his posting stats, I guarantee you there is a huge discrepancy.

  8. tnew Says:

    Why do they list that as a fumble? He clearly never fumbled. I never saw it as a fumble even in real time with Stockton yelling fumble.

  9. The Buc Realist Says:

    @Hawaiian

    After coming back from my snow ski vacation, I was pleasantly surprised to find that people were clamoring for “more Buc Realist” !!! normal, I did lay a little bit off after a victory as for some reason some see my name and fly off the handle. But not anymore!!!!

    By the way, I am planning another strike mission to Colorado, but it will be mid-to late January, and we all know that the bucs will be off by then!!!

  10. Clodhopper Says:

    LOL. Yeah Stockton screwed the pooch on that play more than Clayborn. I couldn’t believe what I was hearing. My eyes and ears felt out of sync

  11. na na nelson Says:

    saw that as well…also liked the video of Mankins hugging Jaboo like a proud Pappa after the last PAT. Mankins had a look in his eye and a smile on his face that said “I would happily run through a wall for you.”

  12. Buckin-around Says:

    Looks like #52 of the Falcons helped Winston get back on feet as well after the initial takedown

  13. lightningbuc Says:

    After hearing that play-by-play again from Dick Stockton, Fox maybe should let him know it is time to retire.

    “Loose ball, loose ball” (there was no loose ball) “picked up by the Falcons” (huh, a Buccaneer is running with the ball).

  14. Buckin-around Says:

    Looks like number 52 of the Falcons helped Winston get back on feet as well after the initial takedown

  15. NewTampaChris Says:

    Between Dick Stockton and Gene Deckerhoff, Bucs fans have no way to figure out what is actually happening on any play.

  16. Buc since '74 Says:

    Dick Stockton bashing is a full go here… but you’ll probably want to lay off of Gene NewTampaChris. Gene is a legend around these parts. Take it from a Noles and Bucs fan that was born and raised in Tampa. Gene is the man!

  17. Tom S. Says:

    If Dominik’s master plan was to burn a first round pick on a crappy DE so that he can sign with a division rival four years later and loaf his way into letting us get a victory then bravo sir.

    If not, well then, I guess that’s why I like to refer to him as Dumbinik.

  18. Buc since '74 Says:

    Thanks for showing the huge loaf by Slowborn. That was terrible – thank you Adrian for loafing, and for loafing for another team!

  19. NewTampaChris Says:

    @74 Yes, I understand the deification of Gene and I appreciate it. (And my son is a freshman at FSU.) But I did radio play-by-play of my college’s football team (student station) so I listen a little more critically. On many plays, you literally cannot figure out what happened until Dave Moore interprets. Father Time catches up with everyone, and I think he passed Gene several years ago.

  20. Tampabaybucfan Says:

    @ Realist

    Colorado….Ski slopes?……perhaps you were just stocking up on Colorado’s #1 crop.

    I had hemorrhoids many years ago….I miss you about as much as I miss them.

  21. D-Rome Says:

    Amazing how Clayborn quit twice on one play

    I recall Clayborn quitting on plays when he was with the Bucs especially the last game of the 2013 season against the Saints. He was doing the same exact things! I’m not kidding. My biggest issue with Clayborn is that there wasn’t a sense of urgency in his play.

  22. bee Says:

    The commentary was horrible during the broadcast yesterday. Geez. He didn’t even try to correct himself after the nonexistent fumble…

  23. D-Rome Says:

    After coming back from my snow ski vacation

    Where did you ski? I went to Breckenridge early this year and it was the greatest skiing experience of my life. I’ve been skiing all over this country and nothing topped Breck. Not even Aspen.

  24. The Buc Realist Says:

    @D-rome

    went to breck, planning on going to steamboat next, I just love morningside park on the back!! its like sking in the backcountry!!!

  25. Baz Says:

    Stockton is irritating as hell, I can’t wait til the Bucs are good enough to earn a better announcing team. I swear if I hear Stockton call Sims “Smith” one more time I’m going to scream

  26. NewTampaChris Says:

    The very funny web site AwfulAnnouncing.com has a story about Dick Stockton’s multiple mistakes during The Legendary Run. It’s hilarious!

  27. Johnny "America's Commenter" Dejay Says:

    Thank you, Adrian! That was one heck of a play that you allowed to happen right in front of you. I’m sure it was thrilling to have the best live view of it in the stadium.

  28. Brandon Says:

    Clayborn was a terrible all around pick. He’s a RDE only because of his medical condition that was severely lacking in edge quickness, burst, and flexibility and looked more like a LDE only…yet we drafted him with Cameron Jordan still on the board (and also absolutely crushed it at the Senior Bowl that Clayborn begged out of). Granted, Jordan is more of a LDE, but he was so much better than Clayborn it was ridiculous…and it still is.

  29. Hawaiian Buc Says:

    It’s really funny that Realist actually expects us to believe his BS about Colorado. I have a feeling he rarely leaves his mom’s basement.

  30. NewTampaChris Says:

    Man, after having to listen to D-Rome and Realist french-kiss each other on these boards, I’m outta here!

  31. Bucs_fan13 Says:

    Haha I am over here living in Colorado. Don’t care about any ski slopes. I care more about the buccaneers making the playoffs.

  32. Hawaiian Buc Says:

    @Bucs_fan13,

    It’s amazing that even though you live in Colorado, you are still able to make comments to JBF. Realist makes as if the intent doesn’t work over there.

  33. orlbucfan Says:

    NewTampaChris: I don’t watch the Bucs on the Boob Tube. I think the POX squad are a bunch of hot air buffoons. I have been following Bucs Radio for decades. I am a diehard Brother Gene D fan. I still remember when Dave Logan paired up with GD. And waaaay back when it was Mark Champion and Dave K. As you know, radio people have to know what they’re describing to their listeners. The TV talking heads don’t. I didn’t have any problems listening to the Scramble of the Season. My big fear was still another bad call by a ref. I hate Ed Hockoli (sp) for that reason. Anywho, GO MIGHTY BUCS!!

  34. The Buc Realist Says:

    when you work with computers all day, its nice to take vacations and not stare at screens!!! other than checking a couple of emails once in a while!!!

    Ah – holed up in your attic loft at mom’s with an 8 ball during and after the Eagles game eh?

  36. The Buc Realist Says:

    @Hawaiian

    If you really want, you can research last year when I took my 3 week vacation to Europe, I flew out on the MG8 beats the Steelers game, ( I posted once waiting in the atl airport and I think I posted sometime during the Ravens game as their was a bad storm in Italy other than that, No internet!!!

    No one told me that it was Rag on Realist Day today. Dayum I always miss out on the fun.

  39. Bucs_fan13 Says:

    All I know is that we waited years for clayborne to turn the page and it never happened. What ever wins the Buccaneers football games is what I stand for. Show up to the bars early on Sunday like the Joes do. That Panthers game certainly hurt my soul, because we had them going into half. Anyways get the drink on early and glad the bucs are doing their thing now after so many years of having to hear the Broncos BS. Glad the Bucs are getting some notice. Most Colorado are the typical Winston haters. Say hes a rapist and thief. All I have seen is greatness and hope in him. Cant believe how much he puts into football every moment he breathes and is not sleeping. Cannot wait for another Superbowl with this Offense. Once Defense now offense. GO BUCS.

  40. godzilla13 Says:

    How can anyone recall Clayborn quitting on plays when he was a Buccaneer when he never played? Did anyone else notice on the video after the Winston run it showed the Redskins recovering a Cowboy fumble? It was Mason Foster. Seems like there are ex-Buccaneers on every team in the NFL?

  41. grafikdetail Says:

    @godzilla13 most former bucs seem to be back ups & special team players though LOL good to see they’re still in the league though
