Zero Picks This Season For Cowboys Cornerbacks

November 13th, 2015

.

This is not one of those Sundays when Bucs fans should be scared of America’s Quarterback, Jameis Winston, reverting back to the sloppy ball security he experienced early this season.

There’s no Josh Norman lurking in the Cowboys’ secondary.

In fact, the Cowboys have zero interceptions from their cornerbacks through eight games this season. As a team, they have just three picks, one from a safety, one by a linebacker, and a great play by sleazy defensive end Greg Hardy.

That’s pretty darn gruesome, but great for the Bucs. Dallas just doesn’t generate a lot of turnovers, and they are -9 in the turnover ratio game this season.

Mike Evans spoke this week on the Buccaneers Radio Network about how the starting Dallas corners, Morris Claiborne and Brandon Carr, play a lot of press coverage at the line of scrimmage. Evans was confident he’ll be able to get open. (Joe will have more on that tomorrow.)

Jameis should be poised for a smooth afternoon behind his stout offensive line.

I always hate stats like this, because the first thing I think when I hear it is that they are due. We had no picks from our CB’s going into last week, and we went out and got two. Sooner or later, they are going to get picks. Hopefully they can wait one more week.

  2. Pasco Jim Says:

The law of averages will be tested this week.
Boys have lost 6 in row and bucs can’t win at home
dumb azz penalties will probably dome them again
it has been happening in every game this year

  3. Tampa Tony Says:

Evans might get open but can he hold onto the ball?

  4. Justin Says:

You know how when someone is pitching a no hitter, you don’t say that to them? If Winston throws an INT this weekend I expect some sort of apology.

  5. Tampabaybucfan Says:

If the Cowgirls CBs get a pick…..it will be entirely Lovie’s fault.

  6. Kaput Says:

    Jinxed.

    Thanks, Joe!

  7. @Hands2theFace Says:

Seems as though, ever since the curse of Chucky, whatever ails an opposing team becomes remedied by playing the Bucs.

…as I think about this more the same thing could almost be said of our DBs. I know Moore got one last week, but there seems to have been none in previous weeks by the rotating door that is our DBs. I have seen several go through, bounce off, etc their hands. Since this is happening to both clubs maybe the question should be, “is it the players, or the Tampa 2 scheme?’

  9. Buccfan37 Says:

Better win this game Bucs. No excuses. I’ve tuned out Lovie’s repetitive lingo, how many different ways can you say you suck without actually saying it.

  10. Pick6 Says:

let’s not forget that aside from Josh Norman, JW’s preferred target for INTs are the underneath defenders. he hasn’t shown the tendency since the first quarter of the season, but we should all be on alert for rolando mcclain or that POS hardy to get their hands on a screen or slant and travel a long way in the other direction. that being said, we are facing a quasi-tampa-2 defense that has been almost as generous as ours. and when they don’t get turnovers (only 4 this year vs almost 2 per game last year), they lose, just like the bucs

Joe you said last week Winston should feast but sure enough didn’t. Like it was said you just jinxed them. The Bucs always find a way to give people their first.

  12. OAR Says:

Jinxed…? I always forget, is that a curse something bigfoots or aliens do?

  13. BuccaneerBonzai Says:

Never say never. Thanks for jinxing us, Joe! 😉

  14. BuccaneerBonzai Says:

Apparently I’m not the only one who thought of that. I’m behind the times…

  15. DoNUTS Says:

JW will have an INT this week….book it! It will be the rookies fault and he will take responsibility as a true pro would.

I’m a high school stats student who can tell you the law of averages isn’t real in the slightest. The odds of us throwing an interception are the same today ad they always have been. It’s not any kind of jinx or mathematical “dry spell” just the play of Jameis.
