Marpet Will Miss His First NFL Game

Evan Smith will bask in the guard spotlight

Manbeast guard Ali Marpet will not play Sunday, Lovie Smith announced today.

The ankle he rolled against the Giants is the culprit. Marpet didn’t practice this week, though Joe saw Marpet walking around without the ankle wrapped on Wednesday. It didn’t look swollen and he was only limping slightly.

Per Dirk Koetter, Evan (Dietrich) Smith was “outstanding” at right guard filling in for Marpet.

Smith, finally 100 percent after his early-season ankle injury, is sure to get the call there Sunday.

Also officially out of Sundays game will be Vincent Jackson (no surprise) and Jacquies Smith.

good to get him broken in there, this is mankins’ last serviceable year as a starter and it’s a chance to see if smith is worth his cap hit as a starting guard next season. with Hawley and the promising Gerrard Warren at Center, it’s starting guard, free agency, or pay cut for Evan next year

    Get well soon Ali.

I think Evan Smith is now incredibly motivated after realizing he is not irreplaceable. We should get a really good effort from him since he realizes his job is basically on the line.

EDS wasn’t horrible at guard, We should be okay until Marpet gets back!

This injury is entirely Lovie Smith’s fault….

And all those who call ASJ soft for injury and not Marpet are possibly racist!!!

Kinda bored and wanted to stir things up….

    @TBBF

I suspect your wife is in for an entertaining evening. I always enjoy troublemakers who love stirring the pot. Just love it. Get’s me in trouble but still a lot of fun.

  7. BuccaneerBonzai Says:

I predicted Smith would play guard by mid season.

  8. John McKillop Says:

Evan Smith was a guard for Green Bay before moving to center. I believe he is a natural guard, he played well in Marpets absence. Better guard than center.

  9. GhostofTedford Says:

They should try EDS at Defensive End since everyone at that position not named smith suck.

Tampabay, stpete!! Lol!! Bonsai, good call!

Also out on Sunday will be ASJ. I don’t need it to be officially announced. I already know it.

So if Evan Smith kicks a$$ does that mean that Ali Marpet gets the splinters? Smith played LG and LT at Idaho State and Guard and Center for Green Bay so the man can execute in every position on the OL. Dirk Koetter played QB at Idaho State University, of all places.
